RARE Moving & Storage

I had always hired (overpriced) piano movers in the past, but used Angie's list this time to explore other options. I was more than pleased with Rare, their work, manner and results. Not a scratch or smudge on the piano or floors, and at a great price! Rare is the only moving company I would recommend.

Exceptionally well. No surprises, no damage, no drama.

These guys were fantastic. Super friendly, respectful, and careful. They actually ran from the truck back into the house for the next load of things. they wrapped each piece of furniture very carefully. I'd hire them again any day.

Horrible. First and foremost, I'm going to make it a priority to note that they have nothing but stellar reviews on Angie's List, so don't let that deceiving pile of lies make you think they're worth your time. They more than likely employ people to write fake reviews at intervals of 2-/3 weeks to a month. It's not Quantum Physics, you just patiently invest into your company. Anyone WOULD do it and HAS done it. There's a woman who was made into being infamous for it at one point. Google her, you'll see what I'm talking about, "Watch the many faces of Sanpan, star of fake testimonials". The "boss" was the first one to show up on the recorded job to take, in RARE's words, and "estimate" and when he got there, my girlfriend was present. So she relayed back to me that he walked into all the rooms and looked at everything. He then sent me a rather quick E-Mail after I get a text at work saying that he had been there. In the subject line of the E-Mail, it reads "Your Estimate from Rare Moving". The Estimate was for $800. Fast forward to the day of the move, and my girlfriend is the only one home for this process again. The next thing I know, I'm getting a phone call from her telling me that the captain of the 2 man crew was saying it was going to be much more than the estimate stated. I then said that the 110% Rule (a law under the Better Business Bureau passed in 2012) did not permit the total cost of the move to exceed 110% of the original estimate. The captain (I think his name is Curtis (Curtis, if you're reading this. You're a ****)) then came on and said he would do what he could but that it as probably going to take much longer than the alloted time. I told him it was the Law and then he said he was calling his "boss" (some Irish douchebag). I got out of work and made it to the new apartment and everything turned out to have been done. Curtis then proceeded to "lecture" me (when you oppress a race of being, you get actions like this. I'll explain what I mean in a bit (Curtis, you're still a ****). He told me things like "Your dad saved you a lot of money". My dad had showed up after I sent him a concerned text. So, after the fact, this is what I learned. The Irish ****** just wrote up a low number, didn't indicate anything for glass or large personal belongings (TV's and stuff). He did it just to get the job, but the problem with that is, that's no longer something these ****** can lawfully get away with, thanks to the 110& Rule. Don't believe me? Look it up. So my friends and my dad had shown up in the nick of time. One of my friends had the helper of the Captain mutter to him that if it wasn't for them helping (yes, my friends assisted this *******), they would have unloaded my belongings and ditched the move, when I needed to be out of the apartment the very next day. The little ****** even had the nerve to take the estimate, wave it at me and tell me "You're wrong about this 110 thing, because nowhere on here does it say it's an estimate". Then what was the E-Mail subject line for? Lastly, my dad told me way after the event that he had tipped them both $150. After looking at the estimate, I found out the charges would have amounted to $300 more than the original cost. So, my dad being the very nice person he is, had mercy on these little ***** and ended up only giving the middle finger to the boss (wondering where your undeserved money went? Ask your "bois" ;) ) You wanted this review, Angie's List, so you got it. Go **** yourself with this ********. Both you and RARE. I drove passed a RARE truck not that long ago. It said on the side of the vehicle "We care". Bull ******* **** you do. Go die in a whole. You ******* *******.

Rare Moving provided 3 top notch individuals (Manny, Kevin, and Sherard) who were very polite, professional, and incredibly helpful. They ran into some traffic in the morning that delayed the start a bit (but they have a max travel charge to your location) but once they arrived they were efficient and skillful. They packed up our 2 BR 2 Bath apartment easily and nothing was damaged during transport. In the new apartment, they quickly unloaded the truck and helped get things into the correct spot. They were very friendly and it was a lot of fun to have them help out. For the price that was quoted as an estimate they were very close and significantly more reasonable then their competitors. A++ service!

Fantastic. Second time we hired these guys and could not be more pleased. Professional, courteous, responsive, and careful. They provided us with boxes then when we needed more, brought us more. When our moving plans changed slightly, it was no problem at all for them to make the adjustments, and in the end it ended up costing less than our original quote. Same crew moved us out, then 10 days later moved us in. Highly recommend.

Minor traffic problems in Boston area (expected), otherwise fine.

The owner himself ended up driving a truck down to Florida with my belongings. I was kept in contact about updates, and they were so honest that they ended up giving me a final cost LESS than their original quote. The movers themselves were beyond polite, and they were fast, organized and punctual. This company deserves your business - A+ review from me!

Very well. They were punctual, efficient, everything was packed nicely and securely.

Very well. I liked them a lot. My only quibble was that the coupon from Angie's List did not seem to apply to the work we had done - it was already built into the cost? In the end I didn't care, they were available on short notice (on a Sunday!) and did a great job.

Moved from Back Bay to Wellesley. Our condo was 920 sq. feet and the movers were able to fit our entire condo into one 27" truck. The movers were excellent (i.e. kind, polite, professional). My only complaint is that I was quoted about $250 less w/ materials included yet once the move was finished my bill was approx. $1650.00 when it originally was $1,400.00. We provided 75% of the materials and myself and brother helped significantly in the moving process. I asked why the extra cost and I was told "materials". Didn't make sense. Also didn't my credit per Angie's List coupon.

It went well. After a slight delay in get their truck parked in my driveway there went right to work. They had another crew member come so they could make up for lost time. The moved went smoothly and they placed all the items in the new house and helped set up beds. They reimbursed me for three broken plates.

The guys did an excellent job! I could not have been more pleased. Highly, highly recommneded!

Mike R and Kirk were very personable and polite, which quickly put my mother at ease. They loaded the truck, made the 7-hour drive to her new place and then unloaded everything and made the drive back. It was a long and hard day for them but it never showed. They were always attentive and made sure we were happy with the way the move went. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

The move went perfectly. Everything arrived in our new home having been carefully packed and delivered. I only wish we could be as efficient with unpacking as they were getting us here! We would recommend Rare Moving and Trucking to anyone. We are happy to give them our business and would do it again! They seem to be a great company with real care and concern about customers. Although they got lost on the way to my home (GPS error) they still arrived on time. The team introduced themselves very politely and got right to work. Jarvis, the foreman, was training a very new team member- he gave very clear and careful instructions, and occasionally had the new guy re-do something to make sure it was done correctly. The street I was moving from is narrow, and the street I was moving to even narrower (and dead end). It was garbage collection day at both, and a neighbor was also moving, so another van was across the street. Somehow Jarvis managed to drive the great big truck down both streets, and turn it around without hitting anyone or anything. He is THE BEST driver I have ever seen! I do need to move again soon (stage 2) and I will ask for Jarvis to head my crew when I do - he was a real professional.

The movers were very professional. There wasn't any damage to our property after it was unloaded. Our mistake was using the online estimator that miscalculated the job since we aren't moving professionals. I would highly recommend getting an in-person estimate. Our job required an additional truck due to the size that we miscalculated and ended up making the job take that much longer.

These guys were great! They were on time bright and early and got the gob done quickly. The even kept me on track with time! I would definitely use them again

The moving process with Lamont and Sergio went off without a hitch. They were professional, precise and efficient. I can't say enough! They made a stressful day way less stressful! I would without a doubt use Rare moving company for any other moves and recommend them to anyone out there looking for a wonderful moving company.

I cannot express enough here how absolutely wonderful this experience was on every front, starting with the unbelievably positive, friendly, warm and gracious attitude and approach of every member of the four-person crew. What can under the best of circumstances be a trying event, just wasn't. At all. And many things came up: moving more things than we thought in CT, a flat tire that they addressed promptly and without missing a beat or any time whatsoever, timing snafus at the facility in MA that required the team to come back the next morning - a Sunday!, having to move an extra piano that wasn't planned for, having to move things to storage within the facility. And other things that come up as they do in moves like this. Again, at every turn each of the members of the team was 'no problem, we'll take care of it' and they did - with a smile on their faces and an attitude that was infectious and simply made the whole experience incredibly painless. We all felt that way. Manny, John P, Mike R and Freddy were the crew and I would recommend them for anything - not just moving. The can-do positive attitude, combined with professionalism and skill, is not an easy thing to find in any business. As to the quality, perfect. Everything was timely and efficiently wrapped, everything made the journey without any issues at all - including a fair number of fragile items. And they were so wonderfully patient with my 87-year old mother as she changed her mind numerous times about setting up the new apartment! Again, at every juncture they went out of their way to make her (and all of us) feel good. That is invaluable. And as for price, even though things changed considerably from the original things we had identified needing to be done when we got our original estimate, the cost was almost exactly what we were told - which amazed me but again just speaks to the experience, professionalism and knowledge that they brought to the table. If I could come up with more superlatives, I would. I highly recommend RARE Moving. They were great.

This is the second time I have used Rare Moving. They are tremendous. Manny, Harvie, Serge, Deshaun and Jarvis are really great guys. They exude everything Kamaul preaches that result in a true quality service. They are very organized, painstakingly wrap all pieces and treat your possessions as if they were their children. All the guys I have met in two moves are very personable and polite beyond expectations. And they enjoy themselves! Great men.

On the day of the move the absolute best team of Manny, John, Shirod, Harve, and Van calmed my nerves with their professionalism, grace, and music! It was obvious they work extremely hard demonstrating the utmost respect for the client and Rare. By the time they left, I felt I'd known them longer than 7 hours. Rare was worth every penny! We forgot to tell them we wanted to take a box with us. They found it and delivered it the next day! Awesome customer service!

It went great! They arrived promptly. But it was the crew of Harvie, Van, Sergio, and Daeshaun who made a difficult situation a wonderful experience. They were polite, incredibly good-natured, and got along very well with each other. There was no complaining when I told them I had forgotten to point out a whole shelf of boxes! It was a long day, with many heavy things. They handled every challenge expertly. They were great representatives of their company and I will use them again when I move my belongings out of storage- rocks and all. Great job, guys! Judy Jenkins

I hate moving. My past moves were extremely stressful and depressing. The men from Rare Movers made the experience as pleasant as moving can be. They were gracious, efficient, and extremely helpful. I had a a difficult move with large pieces that caused problems. The men were more than professional. They went above and beyond to manage my move. When a piece was damaged through no fault of theirs (the entrance caused multitude of problems) they significantly reduced the bill. If I could give them an A++ i would. They were absolutely wonderful.

The people to who packed up goods in MA, including quite a few delicate antiques, were cheerful, responsive and efficient. I would particularly mention the person in charge, Cieran, who with his Irish humor kept everybody working well. He took a lot of the stress out of the move, and made it almost enjoyable. I had stuff that was to stay, some trashed, and some shipped. It was great to see they got everything right and all the "not this, but pack this" stuff arrived the other end. This had been a bit of a worry as I had three floors, a barn, and a large basement to go through and had to leave for the airport before they had finished packing. My stuff was stored in MA for a month, and then shipped. Ciaran drove the truck himself, so there was a continuous link between packing and unpacking the other side of the county. When unloaded, I saw they had blanket wrapped the antique furniture - tables, bed, mirrors, etc., so everything was safe and undamaged, except for a few minor dings in a parcel gilt picture frame - undisputed by RARE, and easily fixed. This was a far superior experience than my last two moves by well known moving companies, who left me with scraped furniture, dented silver, and cracked plates. I think that the fact that the person who came out to quote, was also in charge of the packing, and also delivered the goods gave continuity and added to the efficiency of the move.
