They showed up early, promptly called me so I could tell them where to load their truck. They moved fast and got everything packed within 4 hours, mainly do to the slow apt elevator. The lead, Jarvis was great as well as the rest of the crew. They were very friendly, and hard working. I would definitely love to use them again if I had to move again. It took them no time to unload and put everything where we asked them to. Excellent service!!!

4 person team of Curtis, John ,Jerome, larry. They did a great job of moving some very heavy furniture while protecting it well and getting it through some tight spaces. It was hard work and they did a great job. Good job of taking complex directions and asking often for feedback.

It all went exceptionally well. The moving team arrived on time, early actually, and got right to work. All 3 movers were polite, professional, and easy to work with. The only problem I had, which was my fault, not the moving company, was that I had more items to move than I thought and unknowingly forgot to add items to the quote, which is how they plan the move. Because of this, we couldn't fit a couple items into the truck. Well, all I can say is that the owner himself drove down to NY to grab the remaining items and brought them up to Massachusetts the next morning...I don't know about you, but I find this kind of customer service "rare" in this day and age! I highly recommend this company. I've had 3 moves in the last 5 years and this was by and far the best experience.

It was amazing. We had a great team of two incredibly nice, friendly and hard-working guys (L&H). They were fast and efficient, but relaxed enough that we could talk to them while the move was happening. It was one of the best parts of our move! They were also MUCH cheaper than other movers. Another company quoted us at 300% of what we paid RARE movers (although, to be fair, the other one was just an estimate). Anyway, I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

We used the $250 OFF deal for Angie's list customers. The above price is after the discount. The scheduling of our move was very smooth. We got an estimate for the move from our one bedroom apt in Allston to our new townhouse condo for two persons and 3 to 5 hours. The crew arrived on time and was very efficient. They also moved our furniture with great care. We are happy with the quality of their work. We found only two issues with them: first of all, they did not ask us get a parking permit in Allston beforehand for the move and that is why, they had to park their truck further away from our apt and that increased time and second of all, they charged us 2 hours extra for their traveling time. In the estimate, they had mentioned that traveling time will be charged, but 2 hours was not what we expected apart from paying them fuel charges.

These guys made it look easy and saved us a ton of work!

Professional and courteous movers. They went the extra mile, helping to arrange furniture and boxes once they were delivered. Kamaul, owner, was very flexible around my timelines Very reasonably priced. Overall, an excellent experience, and I would strongly recommend to others.

They were very careful and conscientious, arrived on time, didn't rush through the process, and helped reassemble everything in Maine on the other end. Highly recommended, and we will have them move the rest of the house later this year..

The men from Rare Moving were nice, professional, very hard-working, and capable. I have no problem with the individuals on the crew. But I was not happy with the scheduling. We moved to a house north of Boston from a townhouse south of Boston. We also had a lot of things in a storage unit near the new house, and the plan was to move all belonging from both locations to the new house. Rare Moving recommended we load the truck in two stages, first the townhouse then the storage unit. But on the day of the move they told us that instead they would load just the townhouse into the truck, and then load the storage unit on the following day. We were willing to accept their recommendation. But on the following day they said they couldn't arrive at the storage unit noon. My husband waited around for several hours, and they finally showed up close to 3pm. They only had time to load about 20% of the items from the storage unit, which meant that we paid for a nearly-empty truck, and that we have had to move all that stuff ourselves in the months since then, which I am very unhappy about. The amount we paid to them should have moved everything; given the nearly-full storage unit we have had to contend with since then, I think we overpaid.

They did a great job. Professional and courtese. Excellent, excellent, excellent.

They did everything with amazing efficiency, organization and kindness and humor to boot. Rare has since been storing our stuff and has moved all our short-term stuff into the apartment. I also recommended them to my sister who was moving 2.5 hours away, and they did an amazing job with all 3 moves. The guys are so nice, polite and helpful. I cannot say enough about Rare. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Fast professional and careful. Just as you expect.

Kamaul and his team are prompt, courteous, professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. They moved our 18 years of belongings from a spacious 5,000 square foot house into a 2,500 sq ft house with narrow streets, alleys, windows and stairways. Having difficulty moving several of our larger pieces of furniture up and down narrow stairs, the team scheduled a second visit to our new home with furniture they had stored and worked very hard to come up with workable solutions for moving big pieces of furniture hoisted from the street to the roof and through windows. This took not only enormous strength, but also knowledge and creativity to accomplish. All was done with good humor and professional behavior.

I guess I would say the operational about it; the crew was very good and at the planning level there was a little bit of an issue. They didn't get the organized parking permit. I think there were logistic issues and timing issues but it did later create a bit of a problem. We worked it out very well between myself and the company because when I contacted them out after the move about the complications cost due to lack of a parking permit we reached an agreement on what I had proposed as far as regards reducing the cost so I was very pleased about that. I spent more because I increased the scope of the move to include parking. It came up to about $2000.

Rare moving did an on-site review prior to our move. They arrived right on time and provided us a quote shortly after. Prior to the move date, any questions I had, were answered promptly. The move spanned over a couple of days because we left one place on 12/31 and could only move in to the next place on 1/1 but that was a holiday, so delivery was on 1/2. On move day, the crew arrived right on time. They were a team of 4 and were the nicest people: professional, courteous, thoughtful, gentle and efficient! They asked questions to make sure they were packing things that should go together, labeled everything well, took furniture apart very carefully and methodically. They were calm, organized and worked very hard. They also worked thoughtfully - leaving room for other tenants to walk, not hogging the elevator, not making more noise than was required. They were professional and pleasant and made us feel we are in very good hands. They worked very well as a team and were just wonderful! The second part of the pick up was from storage and by the time we got there is was dark and very cold. To make things go faster, Rare moving sent a second truck that was easier to get closer to the unit. It was a great idea and it all happen was done very quickly. Again, an example of great team work and communication. Two days later, as planned, they called to say they are on their way, despite the snow that had started and bad conditions. They arrived at 8am as scheduled and got to work. There were 5 team members on the delivery end and the two trucks with our goods. The storm was building up and they took extra care in covering the whole house to keep it clean. They came in and out and worked for hours in the harsh cold. Through out the day of hard work they were fantastic. Team work, communication, care and thoughtfulness through-out. They assembled everything. Pointed out when there were challenges. Asked about every item that they were not sure, where it should go. And when they were ready to leave, they cleaned up everything and did a very thorough walk through. In all my moves - and I have moved a LOT including international moves, interstate moves and in-state ones. They were the BEST movers I worked with. The owner Kamaul is great and sets an example to everyone in the company. He is a man of his word and my wife and I are very happy with the decision we made. In a few years, we will have to move again, and we will be calling on Rare moving again.

Overall, the movers did well. They showed up promptly to begin the process, and were more than accommodating in holding our items overnight for an additional day. They did show up a bit later than expected on delivery day at the new house, which apparently was the additional $600 I paid on top of my original quote.

It all went very well except a leg on a buffet was broken but they did fix it and delivered it. Everyone was very professional. Pam in the office is very courteous and very patient. The price was excellent.

Rare is "rare" in the moving business. We had a crew of 4 show up 15 mins early, with two trucks and ready to roll. They hustled harder to get everything done quickly, with care, and effectively. We had an overnight hold then delivery the next day. Same thing, early, effective, and hustled extremely hard. The hourly rate was the same as any other quality moving company. Because the crew was so incredible and because of their ability to hustle, they ended up saving me over $1000 off the original estimated price. I agreed to the estimate, they get paid by the hour, they worked hard to essentially make less money. I asked the crew chief why? "Because we believe in running an honest business." If I could invest in Rare Moving, I would. They have built a culture where their people are respectful, diligent, and focused. I tipped everyone well as they deserved and I still ended up saving hundreds because of their effort. I'm hoping this is our last move for a long time. My only disappointment is that I didn't know about Rare on my many moves prior to this one.

They moved cartons, books, furniture, etc. to a storage facility. They came within the expected time window. They were polite and professional. Although they listened carefully to instructions they got confused about the sequence, they did not want to look at my lists and map of how to place things in the storage facility. They did however make everything workable.

We had a whole house move from an 1800 sq ft condo to a 3800 sq ft house. The move was about 20 miles in-state. Initial contact and scheduling was a breeze. I could have scheduled over the phone, but since some furniture was staying behind I elected to have an in-house estimate. The job was scheduled on fairly short notice, and the move happened on a Saturday, which was a bonus. The first day was Friday, and a three man crew showed up to pack the whole house. They packed everything from fragile kitchen dishes, to clothing in wardrobe boxes, to pictures and artwork, to electronics, and nonflammable liquids. The crew was very professional, friendly, and efficient. They showed up around 8:30am and finished the packing job around 4pm. The second day was Saturday, and a four man crew (same three as Friday plus one) came at 8:30am to start packing the truck. Again, very professional, friendly, and efficient, finishing the pack around lunch time. Furniture and large items were wrapped in pads, and everything was expertly packed into the truck (like a 3D Tetris puzzle!). Move and unpack occurred as quickly and smoothly as the pack, ending around 6pm. No items were broken in the move, although a shelf was knocked off the wall in the condo we moved out of (was later patched and painted by a separate painting contractor). Unexpectedly, they even put together a new bed frame that involved many annoying wood slats (was new in the box, not something they disassembled to start with), at no extra charge (I tipped extra). Also, since a lot of our furniture was newly unboxed at the new house, they took away a LOT of empty boxes and packing material for a $60 surcharge. Overall, the entire process was smooth and painless. They are truly a full-service company, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again (though I don't plan on moving for a few decades).

We really couldn't be happier with the service we received from Rare Moving & Trucking. I've worked with a few different moving companies in the Greater Boston area over the years and these guys are far and away the best I've worked with. They handled all of the street permitting for the moving truck and completed our entire move in about 4-5 hours on a Saturday morning, all for less than what we were getting quoted elsewhere for a smaller team on a weekday *without* the truck permits. The 4-man team arrived right on time and really hustled the whole time they were working for us; I was blown away by how fast these guys were able to move us from our 3rd floor apartment in the Back Bay to our 2nd floor, 2-level condo in Somerville. They were very careful to wrap every piece of furniture in pads and -- in the case of our white furniture -- plastic wrap to keep it from getting dirty. All of our furniture arrived without a scratch, and paint in the hallways was unscathed at both ends. These guys know what they're doing and they're very good at it. The guys were friendly, had great attitudes and were in tremendously good shape -- one of the guys mentioned that his boss actually pays the team to work out in their slower seasons so that they can work more quickly and efficiently without getting injured. I really can't say enough good things about the team we had working for us and I would use them again in a heartbeat.

The guys were on time and worked so hard. We had two very difficult pieces of furniture to get up to the second floor of our home. They tried several times and were finally able to get them up the stairs.
