RARE Moving & Storage

We hired Rare to move us from Needham to Boston. It was a great experience from beginning to end. The people in the office who provided a quote and answered my questions were always friendly and helpful. They left me a message to confirm the move a couple days ahead. The two-man crew showed up on time and were friendly, helpful, and efficient. The driver had skills; in Boston he was able to back the truck into the tightest loading dock imaginable. I would definitely recommend Rare and will use them again.

I was kind of shocked when I saw I have not written any review for them. If you have stuff which you worry about and if you want on-time professional movers RARE is a real deal. Not only that, they were really fun. After all, we enjoyed our move with these guys. Lots of joking and laughing but at the same time they were really punctual. I hope I do not move soon but If I do, I'll hire them again.

The guys from RARE were outstanding. They worked exceptionally hard without much of a break over the course of two 10+ hour days. They were extremely friendly and courteous and were meticulous with they way they handled our belongings. Despite the heat and humidity (and downpour on the first day) I never heard so much as a single complaint from the guys. Not even when we realized, after the belongings had been removed from our old house, that the refrigerator was to have been left (an omission made by the real estate brokers - not the movers). The RARE guys went back to the old house to return and hook up the refrigerator which they didn't have to do. Granted they were getting paid for the job but they had already fulfilled their obligation and then some. The guys on the crew were all top notch - Will, Kevin, John, Larry, Tavon and my 12 yr old son's favorite Nate who is a man-mountain and as friendly as can be. My wife and I highly recommend using RARE and we'd do so again in a heartbeat.

Rare Moving was the most responsive company when researching moving businesses. I described our home's sq footage (plus garage) and was given a quote of $1800.00. Rare gave an estimate of one truck. Another company came on-site and gave us a similar estimate in person (1 truck & around $1800). The company that came on site was not available when I booked so we went with Rare. They communicated online and on the phone very well. The crew arrived on time and were professional, hardworking, and great. Issue is they needed a second truck. This was incredibly disappointing. The second truck was hardly filled but certainly necessary. We paid for another crew, another overnight fee, another truck. This was an unexpected blow and sent the $1800.00 estimate to $3000.00. OUCH! Disappointed there was not a different estimate or a bigger truck. :( On the plus side things were moved that we would not have been able to do ourselves. There was damage to a banister at our old house and they fixed it right away. No damage to the new house. I'd say hardly any damage to our belongings. A part of my desk was damaged but it is from Ikea so it definitely doesn't count. It's actually amazing other Ikea stuff stayed intact.

Very smoothly. They had a funky $50 extra "fuel" charge, balanced by a $100 Angie's discount.

It was okay. They just give a discount from the whole service that they do. They were pretty nice, coming from different country, and I did not know what services they did before. Overall experience, I will give them the best score because they were very good.

They were great! They did a fine job with the large items. They stuck to their estimate other than packing materials added on at the end. They responded to our growing needs throughout the job and they worked well with us.

The crew arrived early in the projected arrival time. I would commend Marcus, Richard, Nate and Corey for their professionalism, politeness and continual cheer during what I'd say was a difficult move from a 3 level house to a 4 level townhouse with older heavy furniture on a hot day with very little trouble. They had to leave all the furniture in the middle of each room as the walls were due to be painted the next day but not much phased them at all. This company moved a family member last year and came highly recommended and I further add mine. I would definitely use them again, although I suspect that they they would hope it's not too soon.

They moved my nephew and it took all day and they overcharged him to the tune of at least $3,000. It was just a bad experience. They never did provide any kind of estimate just gave him a bill at the end of the move.

They were absolutely fantastic. The were efficient and I thought the price was right. They were all very hardworking. It was the best move I've ever had.

Quick and efficient, although perhaps not as gentle as they might have been at times. No items damaged, so can't really complain. General impression- these guys are probably great with city moving, but seem a little out of their element in a more suburban setting, especially driving on narrow roadways and negotiating steep driveways, and in terms of planning for driving time hours. Hard workers, but could be more observant of their surroundings, both outside and inside. Overall satisfactory job, at a great, competitive price, just $10 over quote.

They were on time and worked quickly. One of the younger guys broke a leg on one of our accent chairs. They were upfront about it and offered several solutions. The easiest solution was to let them fix it. They have a workshop near by and they were able to restore it like new (free of charge, obviously). The fixed chair was returned a week later. Accidents happen, but I really appreciated the way they handled it. The move was about as low stress as it can get. Would definitely recommend.

Rare movers were on time. The movers were prepared for what I wasn't. I was unaware that the treadmill was put together in the room. Movers had tools, took apart the treadmill. Moved the treadmill and reassembled after moving. They didn't leave until my new treadmill was working.

Did a great job packing and moving. More convenient than national large companies. Excellent performance at competitive prices.

Both times I've used Rare they have been patient and courteous with me. They were efficient in moving my things and placing them where I asked. The moves were so uneventful, that I cannot even think of anything in particular that stood out. The movers did their jobs, were knowledgable about some of the areas in MA, didn't complain or need additional time. Scheduling was quick and courteous and all of my things arrived the way they were packed, nothing damaged. In the past, I've had movers lose a box, break furniture and charge me an extra $400 and would not release my things until I paid them the additional funds beyond the total cost of the move. There was none of that drama. Both moves actually came in cheaper than estimated. If I need to move again, I will call Rare again.

Nothing was broken or damaged. The owner, Kamaul, did an inspection in person and provided the bid. He was wonderful and professional.

It couldn’t have been a worse experience. They destroyed the walls during the move and weren’t willing to help out when we called them about it. They also could not get the sofas and mattresses upstairs and told us they would not fit. I was able to get them both up there in 5 minutes with my father. We’re still finding broken things.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Rare Movers. Kamaul the owner is extremely responsive and knowledgeable. Everyone in the office was courteous and quick to address any questions I had. The movers themselves were unparalleled in their professionalism and dedication to the job at hand. My experience with Richard, Kevin, Curtis, Terrance and of course Big Nate was awesome. They were fast, careful, and extremely pleasant to deal with. They made what otherwise could have been a very stressful experience into a very laid back and enjoyable time. If you want movers that not only know their job inside and out but also put you at ease with their good natures and confident manner you need to hire Rare Movers.

Kamaul and his team at Rare Moving did a full service move for us and it was one of the best moving experiences we've ever had. His entire team (4+Kamual) arrived at our house in Dedham promptly on the Friday morning and were very efficient and thorough. Each of the rooms was packed up individually with the least impact possible (you almost couldn't tell they had been in the rooms). The following day Kamaul and his team picked up a few remaining items at the old house and then quickly started unpacking at the new house. We were very impressed at the attention to detail as each of the kid's rooms in the new house was setup exactly as it was in the old house. More importantly the move finished on schedule (2 days total) and the price came in lower than what had been estimated. If you're looking for a stress-free move I would highly suggest you go with Rare.

So it went very well, I had never hired a moving company before as I just did it myself with my brother. But not at this age...to much stuff and to heavy ! I was expecting 3 guys that could lift heavy stuff but probably not to personable but I was wrong. Three very nice guys, Steve, Westlie and I can not remember the name of the third man were nice, cared about my property and did a great job packing it all up. Best of all they did an amazing job of getting all to fit into the storage area....I was very nervous about it all fitting. They really gave it some thought and did it with a little room to spare.

They did not contact me back and so I have decided to cancel the Big Deal and will be going with another moving company.

5 men from RARE showed up on time on a Saturday to pack us up. It took them about two hours longer than planned, altogether about 11 hours. The men were very professional, efficient and enjoyable to be around. We were present all day and so when in doubt the packers asked us for packing direction and willingly held up on packing some items we still needed to delay. On the following Monday a crew of 6 men, some the same as before, returned in two trucks to move us out. The move out was also very efficient and well organized. The workers were professional, polite and cooperative. We had several large and heavy pieces of furniture including two stone Japanese garden lanterns we brought back from Japan and a heavy exercise machine in the basement all of which were removed without any damage to the property. A day later RARE sent another smaller truck to collect the belongings in temporary storage for consolidation. Actual costs ended up about 10% higher than the estimate but still significantly lower than the competitive estimate, due to the longer packing time needed. In summary we were very impressed with RARE Moving's performance with this part of our transition. Kamaul and his crew lived up to and exceeded their high ratings on Angie's list. I am confident that when it is time to move us into our new home RARE will not disappoint us!

Sooooo...I did what you aren't supposed to do...went to Restoration Hardware and impulse bought a non-returnable couch. Got it delivered and lo and behold, I was about 2 inches short of making it (angles will kill you). Thought I'd have to sell it for a huge loss on craiglist. As a last resort I called Kamaul, explained the situation, he told me 9\10 times he can get something in, and if he couldn't get it he wouldn't charge me...then offered to come the next morning. He actually ended up coming that night (in the rain and cold). They tried the stairs, no luck. Ended up taking it out back, hoisting it up 4 flights, through a narrow space....still wouldn't fit. Kamaul and his men never gave up and kept working until they got it in (needed to knock out a bit of wood from the door frame). They were friendly, professional, and courteous throughout during a tough situation. I really thought there was no way it would fit. I would recommend Rare Moving...and not buying an expensive couch before making sure it will fit. These guys really worked a miracle...and they said it wasn't even close to their toughest job
