RARE Moving & Storage

AThis move was unexpected and RARE was available with a team for a Monday move. The move also took longer than expected due to the number of small items my mother had. The team consisted of three men and they packed and moved my mother from a one bedroom to a deluxe studio in an assisted living and the rest to storage. They were on time and worked through until the job was done well into late afternoon. This is the second time I have hired this company and would do so again.

The movers were great. The office was responsive and timely in communications. Four friendly, polite, professional guys showed up on time an worked efficiently and carefully. They finished an hour before the estimated job time was up, and only charged us for the hours of work, rather than the agreed-upon price. My husband and I have moved 5 times in the last 5 years, and this was by far our smoothest, quickest move yet. I highly recommend these folks!

Exceptional. They arrived on time, were professional and pleasant to work with. Had us moved out and in to our new condo in no time. Nothing was broken or damaged. They work in a way the minimizes stress.

I do not think I have ever seen a more pleasant person. They didn't have an available date for us due to college move in.

The crew showed on time. Everyone was friendly and very cautious. Every time a heavy item (like a leather couch or a large bookshelf) had to be moved, they always made sure moving blankets were on the floor to avoid scratching it. I would be moving again in a year or two. I would definitely call them again. Highly recommended!

1.5 of the 4 hours was used to start and finish the moving service Braintree-Quincy Milton-Braintree. I do not believe that is 1.5 hrs of travel time. Was very careful with furniture, wrapped everything. Insisted a bed frame would not fit in the elevator - it did. Insisted the same bed frame would not fit up the stairs, left on the first floor of new house. Friends helped move bed frame into bedroom.

Positives: Overall I was happy with my experience. The two movers that Rare sent, Dave and Mike, were very nice guys, and they worked hard to get everything done. They were right on time and got to work right away. Dave walked me through how the pricing would work on an hourly basis, and made me comfortable with how they calculated their figures. I went to Rare's website and submitted a quote. They got back to me pretty quickly, and the quote was pretty accurate. (I definitely had more boxes than I told them about in the quote, so the quoted price was low- that makes sense). Negatives: Only Two movers came, but I was told/quoted that there would be 3. Rare reduced the hourly rate they charged to compensate, but it's tough to say if I ended up paying more than I would've if 3 had come. One nightstand got a few deep scratches on it, and a table on wheels had damage to a corner right where the wheel inserts. One of the movers told me that's common (afterward). If I'd known that was likely I could've taken the wheels off. It's important to note that the street adjacent to the one I was moving too was being repaved, so we were re routed on the way there up a really steep hill, which could have played a part in things sliding around/being scratched. All the fragile items like TVs made the move just fine, no damage. All in all they did a very good job, and I would use them again in the future.

The move went very smoothly. I could not have been more pleased.

The two gentlemen from Rare Moving and Trucking arrived on time, and first evaluated the linen chest to be moved within the building. They then looked at the various paths they could use. They covered the large heavy chest with heavy quilts, and gently and CAREFULLY moved it from its location in the garage to the space designated for it. They then re-examined the chest to make sure nothing had been damaged. The second piece of furniture was an antique dressing table with three attached and hinged mirrors standing about 3 feet above the level of the table base. They covered the piece in heavy quilts, and very carefully moved it to their truck. They followed me to the destination and parked as close to the building as they could. They carefully removed the piece from the truck and moved it into its new home. The only path to the desired location included a very tight corner at a very bad angle for moving furniture. They carefully assessed the pathway, and gently settled the dresser in its new home. Once again, they checked over the dresser to ensure that there was no damage. These movers arrived on time, were very professional and pleasant, and took time to reassure me that these family pieces were not damaged during the move. Our family has moved eleven times in the past 42 years, and these gentlemen were the best movers we ever had. I would hire them to move us to the moon, if necessary.

It did not go as well as i hoped. They went over budget. The truck was not as big as advertised so they had to make a couple of trips. The owner convinced me to add one extra person because it would "speed up" the move and make it more efficient. . The extra person seemed inexperienced which slowed the move down. I just feel like they only needed 3 people. It would have gone quicker and cost less. Just felt like I was over charged. Glad they did the work though! The owner was supposed to call me back to rectify the issue but never did. It's frustrating. I understand when younger members of the moving team come on board that they need the experience, but I have worked before for one of the biggest moving companies in Boston, and when I was new, they had me running back in the house as soon as my hands were empty. And that's how ALL the mover from the most experienced to the least experienced moved! Whenever their hands were empty they were RUNNING to get the next item.Needless to say our move took half the time theirs did. I even asked the head of the team if that's how my experience will be and he replied "I don't know what they're going to do", which shows a lack of teamwork and experience and training. I expected the same kind of quality from Rare Movers and was disappointed not to receive the same treatment. Everyone who i dealt with was nice. Having read all of the good reviews, I'm sure that some people had received a great moving experience from Rare Movers, but on the busy moving day That i chose, I felt like i got the "B" Squad which didn't work well for me or my wallet. It did not fit into the original time frame that we agreed on so what was the point of adding the extra person?

They were good, I think I gave them 'A'. They did a great job. We had extra stuff and they had to pick up furniture and so that was added to the cost.

What a great experience! We had John, Shelby and Andre and their beautiful, spotlessly clean and functional truck. They had all the necessary tools and supplies. I was pretty stressed out before we started, but when I saw how professional, fastidious and FAST they worked, my mind was immediately put at ease. They honored all my special requests with a smile and were upbeat and friendly throughout the long and arduous day of hard work. They were on time and knew exactly what to do. I scheduled this at the last minute. The owner took my call on Monday and within an hour, his staff took a few questions from me and produced an estimate for the move to take place on Wednesday. There was a bit more work than I had specified, but still the cost came in at just a little bit more than the estimate. These men made a difficult day easy. I would not hesitate to use them again and would recommend them to anyone with any kind of moving needs. Thanks a million John, Shelby and Andre!

They guys from Rare were a pleasure to work with making the moving experience easier and more efficient. They arrived early and were courteous and positive throughout the entire day. They took excellent care of our possessions and made sure everything was set up to our satisfaction. I strongly recommend Rare and would definitely use them again.

Excellent! The two movers, while late because of traffic, were hardworking, good communicators, helpful, quick.

Kamaul and his team moved our family of 5 and a dog from Newton to Dedham last week. It was a large move requiring two full-sized trucks. RARE could not have been more professional throughout the whole experience. Kamaul showed up to give us an estimate a day after I first called their office, and I had his email estimate the next morning. A week before the move his team delivered plenty of boxes and packing materials for us to get started. First day he arrived right on time, and spent a full day finishing the pack for us and completing the load. His team of 5 was cheerful, hard-working, great to work with, very careful with every item and are real experts at what they do. We didn't have a single issue, and they even got an oversized dresser down the stairs when we were convinced it would need to go out one of the windows. The truck showed up at our new house 8AM sharp the next morning (it was always planned as a two-day move), and we were in and unpacked by 1PM. Kamaul even agreed to come back next week to pick up remaining boxes. These guys know what it means to look out for the customer. They take great pride in their work, and I highly recommend them for your move. The price was comparable to other estimates we received.

Rare Moving did a fantastic job. I would 100% recommended them to anyone who is moving in the Boston area. Tavon and Kevin arrived precisely at 8am and began work right away. We did a walk through of the apartment and discussed what items would be moved and they took care of everything, taking special care with large televsions, a glass tv stand and a glass bar. They moved very quickly and efficiency - they seemed like they never slowed down a bit keeping a big job within the 4 hour time slot that was paid for. Once at the home they took special care of unloading the truck and placed everything in each specified room with our color coded boxes. They asked me to walk thru the home when they were finished to be sure everything was to my liking before they left. Excellent work and excellent customer service by the whole team.

Scheduling was fast and efficient. They arrived on time, when right to work. Huge glass panels, very heavy and very fragile. When smooth as silk. I will hire them again in a heartbeat.

Packing and move went very smoothly. Packing took about 6 hours w/ 3 crew members. Move took about 9 hours w/ 5 crew members, two trucks. They were VERY organized and efficient. All of them were very professional and polite. They took exceptional care in packing and wrapping everything. Insurance was a flat fee, which was great. Cost of the move was hour/crew based, but I'll tell you, these guys hustled the entire time. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company.

While it was really stressful for me they made it a success. I will be calling them if I move again.

They impressed me. Their prices was competive and the reviews were great so I tried it. Glad I did, Disabled, I couldn't lift anything and had a complicated medical equipment to move. What a great bunch, respectful and nice and made the move efficient and pleasant. Wasn't expecting that. In the end they charged me 1/3 less the quote because it took less time than they originally thought. Who does that? I wouldn't have known better, I think you can't go wrong with this bunch

Went very well. Highly recommend them! Only thing was we were quoted for 5 hours and it ended up almost doubling. Little shocking for sticker price in that case. I think they should estimate a little over vs low. Either way, they were great.

The team of three men were on-time, friendly and professional. It took most of the morning to pack the truck, but progress was steadily made. Unfortunately, when we left Cambridgeport, they forgot the rails to my bed, and my antique secretary was broken. I appreciated that they quickly informed me of the situations and continued to work diligently (even though lunch was very late). Rare movers arranged for the secretary to be fixed within a week, and it was done very well. Also, the men stopped charging me after the main items were in the condo, even though they had to go back and get the bed rails and return to complete the bed set-up. I was disappointed that the estimate was missed by over an hour and even with the Angie's List deal, the cost was a bit higher than expected. But, I was pleased with the professionalism of the team, their work ethic and the end job. Rare Movers is a good team, I've just learned of other teams in the area that I'm more likely to use in the future due to the experience of others.

I recommend this company to any who wants to move. I first did some research to compare service and prices. Rare moving were very easy to talk to and always available for questions. The service they provided was fantastic and they demonstrated that they care. At the end, I didn't feel that was a real move. Thanks again and I already recommended to 2 friends that are moving.

The crew of four were extremely professional and polite. All of them introduced themselves before getting started, participated in the walk-through, and then got right to work. The organized the truck by section of the house, so when they got to our new home, everything would be put in its right place. They disassembled and assembled all of the furniture, placed the furniture wherever we wanted, and moved the furniture when we changed our minds. They conducted a final walk through to make sure everything was how we wanted it. They also disposed of some materials and furniture that we no longer wanted.
