James and his team did an excellent job throughout the project. More generally, James and his men took pride in their work, and treated our requests beyond the the overview that was written in the contract. As an example they installed dimmer switches after realizing it would be a big help. They made sure the garbage disposal worked perfectly before leaving - in this case fishing out some debris that had fallen in there before they had arrived. The best example of this was our heating, for which we used Nest thermostats, a newer product which does not connect naturally to electric baseboard heating. James was able to suggest a relay to go the distance, and his men troubleshooted all the little bugs that came up at no extra charge. When the supplier sent us a faulty relay, his men figured that out too. My only complaint is that they were late by a couple hours for a couple visits. While a little frustrating, the project was completed on time. At the end of the day, that's what you really care about. I would definitely hire James again for a future job.

We bought a new house and wanted to bring the chandelier from our condo dining and install it in the dining room of our new house. James sent two men to take down the chandelier and install a new fixture in our condo dining room. They loaded the chandalier in my wife's car and met her at our new house. The removed the existing chandelier in the house and installed ours. The men James sent were on time, polite, and clean. This is our third time using James Carleton Electric and we continue to be happy with the service.

Jim Carleton came to our home promptly, took the information and sent us an estimate. We were impressed and wanted him to do our work. We responded to him and asked him to call us to schedule the work. We we didn't hear from him we sent a follow-up email a week later and never heard from him again. I assume that the job was too small to interest him but he never even bothered to call and tell us.

I love him. He was very responsive and honest. He did the job at the price that he said he was going to do it for. His price was okay. I will absolutely use him again in the future.

First they come over to give me a quote and then they did the work. These guys gave me a good estimate on the work and I think their price was pretty competitive.

It was a pleasure working with Jim and his team. Jim provided a very fair quote and he operated very professionally. He and his team were on time and exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend his services again.

To be fair, my heating system was very old, so old that the replacement parts were very hard to come by, and had to be ordered separately. Also, the repairs that James did have remained constant, without any additional problems. The electrician responded to my call very promptly, and made an appointment to review the situation promptly as well. Unfortunately, James misdiagnosed the problem twice, once resulting in blowing out one of the thermostats, which he then charged me for anyway. Though this was not an emergency, since my heating system died in the summer time, still, James took over three weeks to finish the job, and cancelled at the last minute on several occasions, though I had designated that time slot to him. At the end, the bill was very high, though he assured me that he hadn't been charging me for all the running around trying to find the proper parts. The bottom line is: next time I would go with somebody else, and I couldn't see any real advantage in using Angie's List either, having since used a local electrician who was ten times more economical and efficient.

Jim and his crew were wonderful. Extremely punctual and got right to work when they arrived. They worked through lunch to get the job finished. Professional, nice and did an excellent job. Would definitely use them again.

James was very professional and courteous. He was able to perform the services on my house within a week of contacting him. We bought an old house, so there were several fairly minor electrical issues to resolve, but they added up to almost a full day's work. James came to the house to do a walk through and provide an estimate. A few days later he was able to return to perform the work. He came in under budget because some of the projects turned out to be faster/easier than anticipated. Overall he did a great job, and I would certainly hire him again to do other electrical projects at my house.

James and his crew came over and fixed all the work that needed to be done. When one job took longer than expected they returned on a Sunday to finish. I found them to be punctual, courteous and dependable. I would highly recommend them!

I am a repeat customer of Carleton Electric company. I own an older home, and there are often minor tweaks and repairs needed to the electrical system. I have had them to my home for several minor repairs and additions, and I also contracted with them to complete a total electrical rewiring job and upgrade stemming from a major renovation project that was undertaken at my home. They are responsive, polite, timely, fair in pricing, and complete the work promptly and neatly. I recommend Carleton Electric without reservation. I always have faith that the work is done right!

We purchased a fixer-upper home that needed significant electrical work. We quoted with four different electricians and James Carleton's quote was the most reasonable. The existing wiring in the home was in bad shape, much of it had been wired poorly in the first place, and the main electrical panel had been damaged by water. We were extremely impressed with James's work from start to finish. Here are a variety of things that we liked: *James picks up his phone and is pleasant to talk to. All of the members of his crew are professional, knowledgeable, approachable, and display attention to detail. *James and his crew came on time each day and always called if for some reason they were going to be late or could not make it on a certain day. *The quality of work is excellent. The inspector was pleased with the work. We no longer worry if our house is going to catch on fire due to shoddy electrical work. *James and his crew were careful to clean up after themselves. In addition the holes that they made in the walls were relatively small and were patched afterwards. Some electricians make huge holes or do not patch them at all. They actually apologized when they had to make unexpected holes in the walls. *Our renovation was complex involving multiple contractors: from electrician to plumbing to mason to floor refinisher to cleaning service. James and his crew worked smoothly with our time frame, never complaining and always being willing to adapt if some other contractor's needs and deadlines meant James had to work faster. *We had planned not to do any electrical work in the kitchen because ultimately we are going to re-do the entire kitchen. However, James and his crew ended up doing certain upgrades in the kitchen after all - at no additional charge to us - because they were concerned about the safety of the electric in the kitchen. *James returned several times to troubleshoot minor issues that arose after the work was completed -- even 5 months afterwards. He did so with no additional charge and with pleasure. He truly wants his work to be of the highest quality and to make sure we are completely satisfied with it. In sum, we found the entire experience with James Carleton and his crew to be outstanding. We are happy with all aspects of his work, his attention to detail, his commitment to excellence, and his strong customer service skills. We plan to have James back when we re-do our kitchen.

Jim showed up on time (in fact, a minute or two early). He solved the problem easily, explained the circuitry involved, showed me what to do next time to avoid or fix the problem. That was easy!

James was very prompt. He stopped by the day I called to look at the project and sent the estimate within 2 days. The work was completed 5 days later. My neighbor had some concerns about the project and James sent a detailed message explaining how the project could affect her service. His price was about half of what another electrician wanted to charge. Overall a very pleasant process. I would highly recommend them.

These guys are awesome. They suggested that I buy the new fixture and call them back to set up an apponitment. I bought the fixture and called them again that same day. They said they could be there the next day. They showed up on time and completed the work very quickly. Fixture looks great. I would definitely use them again. A credit to their profession. Most important point: they get it that home owners want their lighting fixtures to look good. Having a sense of aesthetics is critical in an electrician. They have it.

Called James for an appointment to replace a ceiling fixture. He arrived on the day he said, installed the fixture and was efficient and very pleasant. I would definitely call him again and have recommended him to family and friends.
