Never got a chance to have someone out becuase no one ever responded to my call.

James knew we were on a tight schedule, so when an opening came up in his schedule he got started on our job right away. He was prompt, professional and hardworking. He brought in an extra worker to help finish on schedule. They patched all holes they had to make to access wiring, they cleaned up when they were done. He did more work than was included in the original estimate and did not go over. I would hire James again in a heart-beat.

The work was very well done. It was a 90+ degree day, yet James and his assistant took care not to ruin the lawn while digging the ditch. The work was done for less than the original estimate and within the promised time frame. They also did an excellent job cleaning up. I am already planning additional projects for them.

James came to inspect my circuit breaker box. Was having unusually high electric bills and wasn't sure whether there were any issues with the circuits themselves so I figured I'd have everything checked. James was very helpful and answered all of my questions!

If every contractor/service professional performed as well as James, Mike and the rest of the James E Carleton crew, then the world would be a much happier (and electrically safer) place. James and his team were smart, courteous, willing to explain things, willing to troubleshoot, and were extraordinarily responsive to our every need. We would definitely recommend them, and will use them again.

I had a hard time tracking them down at first and had to call 3 times to set up an appointment. I found that the alternative phone number worked best. However whenever I spoke to someone on the phone they were very responsive. They arrived on time (15 minutes early!). There were 2 electricians and they were very professional, polite and neat. They worked for about 3 hours. I was very pleased with how they cleaned up.

James Carleton is the guy to call if you need electrial work done. He responsed to my email within a day, and he was out at my place within a few days to get an estimate. I had the estimate (a very detailed email) within 12 hours after our first meeting. I was impressed with his professionalism and his "can-do" attitude. Moreover, he was the only electrician who said he could complete the job in one day (everyone else I talked to said at least 2 days), and he was available to do the job within a week (4 days to be exact). The day of the job, he arrived a little late, but only because he need to pick up supplies. He arrived with one other guy, and they got right to work. They were very curtious, polite, and careful to cover up furniture, etc as they worked. I was very surprised how quickly, yet efficiently, they worked. They even did not take a lunch break so that they could finish the job sooner than expected. This worked out great for me, because James knocked off $100 off of the estimate because they finished sooner than expected! He cleaned everything up when they finished, including vacuuming the floor. I would highly recommend James.

On the whole, this was great. We had a little trouble connecting. Phone didn't work so well, but Jim is very faithful about reading e-mails every evening. That worked fine. He sent his associate, Mike, over to estimate the job and about 10 days later, Jim came back and installed the lamp. He came up with elegant solutions to the access problems, and minimized the track length. It works great, and it looks great. And he charged exactly what he estimated.

They were very neat. He was a joy to work with. He was very respectful and willing to talk through things with us. So far we have been very happy with his work.

The email response was very quick and we set up a time for an estimate within days. Mike came and did a great job walking through the work we needed done. I received the estimate within 48 hours via email. Because the estimate was significantly higher than another I had received I double checked as to whether it included the Angie's List discount, it did not, so they resent me a revised estimate. However, this was still $200 higher than the other estimate so I ended up using a different company. All in all I was very impressed by the professionalism of this company and felt confident that, if I had hired them, they would have done a great job!

He arrived on time (though it took two tries to get him to call back. The alternate number seems to be the best one to use. He explained what he was doing and when he didn't have the correct cover for the socket box he immediately went out to the electrical supply store and got one. His price seemed fair for what he did ($125 for the house call and $35 for materials). I'm having the dryer exchanged because it arrived scratched and he promised to come back and install the electrical cord without charge if Sears wouldn't do it. All in all very professional work.

Jim answered right away and remembered me since he has done work for us before. We have always used him because of his straightforwardness and honesty, as well as his excellent work and good prices. He said he could come out tomorrow morning, but when I further explained the situation, he suggested I get an appliance company to come look at it. I so appreciate his honesty and respect for our time and money. I told me husband, and he said, "Jim is such a good guy." So true. We'll be calling him next time, but now we need to find some appliance folks!

There were a few glitches and mis communications in trying to set up the appointment, but once that was arranged, the electrician arrived on time, started work promptly, did all required work, and finished quickly. Prices were reasonable, and work quality was high.

We were *extremely* pleased with the services we received. The job was significantly more complicated than anticipated, yet we were not charged beyond what we were quoted over the phone. Jim and his colleague were highly professional and polite and kept us informed about progress as they went along. We will definitely be using their services again!

James rocked it out! He was able to accommodate my work schedule and performed his work with great care and respect for my personal property. I was very happy to have the kitchen outlet that serviced my microwave functioning again! I was told by another electrician that this job would require much more work then it did and was given a quote of 100% more than the job actually cost. The outlet in my bedroom has been restored to working order and this was the tricky one that require so much more time and effort. Overall, I'm very pleased with the work and will seek out James J. Carleton for all future electrical needs!

Our tenants' hot water heater was not working. After a phone discussion with the plumber he suggested that I call an electrician to verify the 30A circuit breaker is OK. I couldn't contact my regular electrician so I searched Angie's list. James Carleton was the 1st company I called at 10 A.M. (I had 3 others for back ups if they couldn't help that day). They met me at the house at 12:30 and the job was completed within 30 minutes. I was extremely happy that they could meet me so quickly and fixed the problem. From initial phone call to completed job everything was done in 3 hours. Everyone was very professional and personable. I would definitely use them again.

James is a great guy to work with. He turned around a quote to me within 24 hours of seeing the place and came in lower than the competition. More importantly, he was very articulate and gave me confidence that he really knew what he was doing. It turned out that the gauge of wire that I had used to add a few outlets to the room was not correct, so they had to redo my work. Furthermore, it turned out that they had to add an additional box in the basement to fit extra breakers for the basement work. They did not charge me extra despite this extra found work, and were still able to finish everything in a few short hours. Furthermore, they let me know that the fan box that I had installed for my new fan & light was not to code, and described to me what I should replace it with. They were also patient with me in explaining how the gauges of the wires work, and why what I was trying wasn't the best idea in the world. Overall, I had a great experience with James, and am planning on using him again in a near future project, also in the basement.

I arranged a day off work and he cancelled the day before. We arranged for him to come the next day (Saturday) and he called and said his assistant could not come so he cancelled that appt. We set up a third date the following week. When he didn't show we called and found that he wasn't really planning to show. This time we decided to call it quits.

Jim did a fantastic job. Would recommend him to anyone.

Very well; work took a little longer than expected but was well done and done promptly.

Very well. James came on a Sunday to gather the data for the quote, b/c he couldn't make a Saturday appointment. Quote arrived in 24 hours via email, and was very detailed, so there was no room for mis-interpretation. He showed up on time to do the work, and finished in the time stated. Job site left very clean.

The guy was wonderful. He was on time, clean, polite and asked us what we wanted done. He was meticulous about his work and quality. We are in the process of redoing our kitchen, and we really hope to use him for that project as well. I would highly recommend him. He was phenomenal and the price was extremely reasonable. He was fabulous.

Left two telephone messages and registered a complaint with Angie's List. No one ever called. I used Jim in the past and I am very surprised.

Scheduling James to come and do the work was difficult - we had to reschedule 3 or 4 times. Communication was made difficult by email - he would email me really late at night about what would (or wouldn't ) happen the next day. That was tough, because I don't always read my email late at night, so I would be expecting him the next morning when he had emailed me the previous evening about not being able to make it. On the other hand, it is so convenient to have a contractor who emails - that's how he sent his quote for the job. When he finally did come and do the work I was very happy with his work ethic, speed and care. He also installed (when he did our garage lights), at no extra charge, an overhead light in our garage -which was very nice of him to do, and is very nice to have!
