Description of Work: Jim installed smoke and CO detectors in a house I had listed for sale. A smoke detector inspection is required by the State of Ma. whenever a property is sold.These inspections are one of the most nonsensical and ridiculous bureaucratic scams a homeowner will ever deal with in the selling process.Jim made sense of the arcane and ever-changing rules, installed the appropriate detectors and the house passed the inspection.All Realtors who want to make sure their listings pass these inspections, should talk to Jim.Thank you Jim.

Description of Work: Replaced faulty CO2 alarms. I called and Jim responded promptly, advised he had a prior customer but would come by after, which he did. Prior to this event, I had trouble disarming these alarms and being a Friday afternoon, I was appreciative of his quick response and coming by to do the job. Would definitely recommend him. Description of Work: Renovated knob and tube wiring. Our insurance required this, and we got several estimates, some of which were more than double this price. Tom came out for the estimate and unlike any of the other companies, he took the trouble to trace the knob and tube (which was only in part of the house), and he discovered that it was less extensive than we thought. We also had them install closet lights with switches, and add outlets in the garage. They came out for the job less than a week later, and worked a 12 hour day. At some points during the job, there were 4 people working. They completed everything in the house. They worked hard the entire time! They cleaned up pretty well, but we did have some major housecleaning to do afterwards. It's probably unrealistic to expect otherwise. The following morning they completed the garage. We had a snow storm the night before, but they still were at the house at 8 AM, and even helped us clear some snow. Overall, the work is excellend. However, there were some switch plates and outlet covers with damage to the wall visible beyond the plates. These were all where new wiring was installed. We will need painting to restore it, but in the meanwhile the flaws are relatively minor. There's also a spot on the wall just below the ceiling that similarly will need repainting. I would suggest to others to specifically ask how much wall damage there will be, where will it be, and to what extent will they rectify it? to avoid being surprised. All things considered, I am satisfied. It was a high quality job, well-performed, at an excellent price. Now I just need to repaint.

Description of Work: Jim called back very quickly and came the same day. (I was without heat because my thermostat died; I needed a new one installed.) He installed it quickly, answering my laymen's technical questions clearly and patiently. He gave me the Angie's discoulnt without being asked.

Description of Work: Had a problem with short circuit in ceiling lighting that I attempted to fix but could not figure out. Made an appt with Jim (reachable via his cell phone) for one afternoon. He called back that day that he could not make it due to delays, but that he would come by the next morning. He came on time. Job turned out to be difficult, he called in his supervisor and figured it out. They spent about 4 hours and 2 trips here - good price. Thx

Description of Work: Came to estimate the job. Very pleasant, knowledgeable and responsive. I did not use him as his price was on the very far end of the bell curve as compared to other similar estimates. Would use him in the future, but shows the importance of getting a few estimates.

Unfortunately, for other reasons, I had to cancel with him, but I'm going to be sure to use him the next time I need some electrical work done. He seems like a great guy to work with.
