I've worked with Bill on a few projects in the past year and he is always very responsive. His estimates are punctual as well as very detailed. Any changes in scheduling, questions, etc have a quick response time. Bill is very professional and easy to work with. It is clear that he is quite knowledgeable and his work reflects this. I feel very comfortable giving him the key to my home as he is trustworthy and honest. I have an older home with several other projects that need to be done and will not hesitate to use Bill.
Description of Work: I have a very old house with uneven floors that caused the tub/shower to leak water onto the bathroom floor. Bill removed the tub, sink, toilet, etc, leveled the floor, installed a new tub and surround and floor tiles. The bathroom looks better than even and no more leaky tub. I also had Bill install a new kitchen countertop and bottom cabinets for one of my rental units. He also painted the entire unit - ceilings, walls and woodwork. The place looks amazing and I rented it out right away.

The deck is amazing. It is very high quality. It is the best looking deck in the neighborhood. Our neighbors' decks don't even come close. You can really see that this is work by true professional.
Description of Work: We badly needed a rear deck and staircase for our 3-family house in Somerville as we had very narrow interior staircases and could never get anything up to the 2nd or 3rd floors. Bill has given me an estimate over the winter and was going to start in the Spring. His price was very competitive and he has done another project before so we knew that he does great work. He is a very skilled carpenter, very detail oriented and has NEVER cut any corners. He does not do things that don't need to be done but he suggests things that would make your house last longer e.g. when he actually did our deck, he noticed a rotten board right by the roofline and he replaced it after showing me (it was warped and one could see that it will be trouble soon. Back to the deck project - we live in Somerville and it turns out that in order to build it, we needed a special permit. Took us 4 months to get this and even then, the building dept of Somerville is not easy to please. Bill never showed a hint of annoyance and he had to go back and forth between the city hall, the bldg dept, the many inspectors to get this done. He even kept the same price (almost with tiny addition b/c they made him do all these other things) and he also probably spent 1 week alone just running around to get all these people's signoffs. This is a 3 level tall deck with full staircase built from scratch - no previous deck existed. Bill had to repair wood siding when tying it in with the house because much of it was falling apart when trying to pull it off. He replaced it with brand new boards not sparing anything that would have been needed. Bill has great integrity and his workmanship is amazing. His apprentice, Kenny, is also going to be a good carpenter. You can see that Bill is a partner and he works with you and makes sure you are happy with the finished product.

The windows look great and Bill is very easy to work with. His crew is professional and neat and they pay attention to detail. I have felt very comfortable giving them a key and having them inside the house when I'm at work. They started the job when they said they would and finished according to schedule as well. They went above and beyond with extra patching and painting around the interior trim of the new windows. Bill also had a painting crew paint the exterior trim around the windows because it was cracked and peeling. This crew was also professional and did an excellent job. I couldn't have asked for more. One other thing I like about Bill is that he always gives good advice and suggestions about what should be done to keep a property in tip top shape. It sometimes does mean more work for him, but he gives the advice because he really cares about what he is doing and he wants the homeowner to be fully satisfied. I have found his prices fair and his work exceptional.
Description of Work: Bill Lockney measured windows for replacement and professionally installed them all. Bill also had a crew paint the exterior window trim boards and sills because they were cracked and peeling.

This was one of the best experiences I have had working with a carpenter/carpentry company. He came quickly to give an estimate on rebuilding the stairs and was upfront about how busy he was and when he could do the project (which was fine since I wasn't in a big hurry). He emailed me several time to update the status of the project (without me having to remind him) and completed the project to the highest standards. Overall, I was exceptionally pleased with his work and his proffessionalism.
Description of Work: Mr. Lockney rebuilt the stairs on my deck and did an awesome job. He was exceptionally prompt and he made sure that my new stairs were not only functional and up-to-code (which they hadn't been) but also very attractive. I will definitely be hiring him again to do additional work on my house.

Appointments for estimation and services are punctual and clearly communicated. One thing that makes BC stand out for me is the communication. Any changes in scheduling, questions, etc... have quick response time, which is unusual for contractors. Pricing is fair and the quality of work is very good. They have a very professional attitude and good work ethic. I am not a very trusting person, but 3 projects ago with Breeze Carpentry, my instincts told me to trust this company and I haven't been let down. I allow them to work at my house while I am at work all day. If any questions or concerns about the project come up during the project, I am called so that it can be discussed and work can continue. I love the end product of Breeze Carpentry's work and will continue to use them for future projects.
Description of Work: I had Breeze Carpentry (BC) do a partial remodel of my bathroom. I've used this company before on other projects and will continue to use them for reasons I will cite below. The partial bathroom remodel included: -removing/replacing the medicine cabinet -painting the walls and ceiling -removing/replacing the toilet and vanity for tile work -removing old tile and replacing with new tile, including and sub-floor work needed (including closet) -installing new lights above the vanity -replacing all (owner purchased) fixtures -removing/painting main and closet doors and trim -installed new threshhold

Bill Lockney is an ace. He shows up on time and gets the job done fast and right! If he's available to do your job, HIRE HIM! You won’t be sorry. I used Breeze Construction to remodel my bathroom. (see my earlier review). I was thrilled with that job and I'm from Brockton. I don't get thrilled easily. Breeze replaced an old crappy window with a new Harvey replacement. He trimmed it out perfectly. Great price, fast service. This review is for a soffit he repaired on my garage. Water was getting behind the gutter on my garage and it had rotted out the soffit. The drip edge was behind the gutter not hovering over it. Bill removed the gutter, cut away the rotted boards and replaced them with pre-primed boards. He painted the new boards to match my existing paint trim flawlessly, re-installed the gutter properly, (drip edge over the gutter, not behind it). He did this in just a day. It rained the next day and the soffit behind the gutter remained dry and drip free. I'm hiring him again to do more window replacement on my sister's condo in a converted Victorian mansion. I'm telling you, this guy is an ACE!!!

We got the estimate for the job earlier in the spring. He was on time, courteous and professional throughout the whole job. The job we asked him to do was sort of odd, in that we wanted him to leave the drywall relatively unfinished (mudded but not painted). Basically we're renovating our kitchen in two parts and this was the first part. He removed 3 old windows, disposed of them, reframed the wall, hung new insulation and drywall, and repaired the vinyl siding on the outside of the house. He hung a new vinyl window over the sink in the kitchen. He was good about maintaining contact from the spring until the time the job was finished. You would never know from looking at the outside of the house that the windows were ever removed, he repaired the siding in full sheets rather than just cutting pieces to fit the holes the windows made. It looks good and was what we wanted him to do. Took him less time to complete than he estimated. Price was a little higher than another quote we had gotten but we thought it was worth it given the good reviews on Angie's List.
Description of Work: We had 3 windows in our kitchen removed (to eventually make room for cabinets) and a new window placed over the sink. He repaired vinyl siding on the outside of the house to appear as though the windows were never there. He relocated two electrical outlets and hung insulation and drywall.

I initially contacted 3 contractors to get estimates. Bill responded in a timely manner (unlike some of the others) and was very professional and knowledgable regarding what should be done and offered suggestions. He took pictures down in the crawl space of the integrity (lack of) of the structure. Within days, Bill had e-mailed and postal mailed me a detailed estimate of the work. The estimates that I received from others were vague and did not contain much value. I hired Bill and we agreed on a time that would fit into both of our schedules. He began the job on time - as agreed and continued working every day (yes, weekend) to get the job completed. Bills communication throughout a difficult job was impressive. He was always professional in his manner (but very likable!) and never assumed anything. I felt extremely comfortable giving the key to my home to Bill and felt that he was trustworthy and honest. As for the work that was done - totally awesome. The Bathroom looks fabulous and the structure is secure. After ordering all the parts, Bill picked them up at Home Depot and went to town. He coordinated the electrician, plumber and tile man. He always treated my needs and the quality of the job as a priority. When ever I had questions (and there were many) he answered my call with patience and clarity. When the job was complete, the estimate was nearly exact for the work we agreed to. I did end up adding a few things that were priced reasonably. A month or so after the job, a bad rainstorm occurred and I ended up with some water coming into the crawl space. I called Bill and explained the situation. He agreed to come and look at the problem. Although neither of us knew if it was 'just another problem' or something that had been dislodged during the job - Bill agreed to dig a trench, reinforce the wall and correct the problem. He found a gap in the wall and repaired it with concrete. Now, honestly, I'm doubtful if this was his responsibility - but that is the kind of man he is. I respect his work, his opinions and his ethics. You can not go wrong with Bill from Breeze Construction! I know I sound like a commercial - but it is only the truth
Description of Work: The job: I have an apartment rental off the side of my home in Weymouth. The bathroom floor was sagging, and the overall condition had deteriorated over the years. Bathroom was gutted with the exception of some walls and the ceiling. The support beams in the crawl space below the bathroom all needed to be replaced in addition to some electrical and plumbing replacements/changes. The interior of the outside wall all needed to be replaced and insulated. All fixtures, tub, sink, sliding shower doors, vanity etc were replaced in addition to ceramic tile inside the shower and on the floor. Pipes that use to freeze were diverted to hopefully avoid this issue. Electrical plugs were moved and boxes replaced.

From start to finish, our experience with Bill and Bobby was terrific! We were very impressed with Bill's complete proposal, his quick response to phone calls and emails, commitment to the project, ability to keep the work area clean, and professionalism overall. The project was completed on time and slightly under budget. The finished projects look beautiful and display what cannot be captured in a proposal - a sense of pride in a job well done! Bill took the time to ensure a great result. For example, our old porch sagged because the footings were very shallow and the wood posts were rotting. He spent significant time to make the roof level for the new porch (we kept some of the framing of the prior roof). As another nice validation, one of my neighbors (a retired carpenter) who I've only spoken to a few times in nine years specifically came by to tell me that Bill was doing a great job and not taking any easy shortcuts.
Description of Work: Breeze Carpentry completed the following: - A complete rebuild of our front porch, which including the footings, framing, decking, roof, and painting it all. - Fixed rear deck, including new some new boards and sanding and painting all surfaces. - Additional exterior projects, including replacing rotted shingles, boards, and window sills

Bill Lockney suggested a window company for replacement windows. He came and did the measuring, I placed the order after going to the showroom, and then he installed the windows. His crew cleaned up after themselves and the work was done expertly. I live in an old house with many windows out of square. Bill took care of this and the windows look great.
Description of Work: Breeze Construction is a wonderful company headed up by Bill Lockney. Their prices are good and the workmanship is great. Bill listens and then executes just what I want done. He is timely and keeps in good contact during the construction period. He has also done exterior work on porches and railings for me. Again, everything was done just as planned.

I am very pleased with the service that Bill from Breeze Carpentry provided. He called me within 2 days of requesting an estimate on Angie's List and came to the house within a short time. He provided me with a proposal right away and was up front about what needed to be done to make my deck more safe. I feel that his price was very reasonable because we had originally thought we could do the project ourselves and had priced the materials so we had no surprises when Bill presented the proposal. He and his crew were always on time, pleasant and very professional. The horrible heat wave and dangerous lightning storms slowed the work down a bit but they showed up every day and worked as long as they safely could. In about a week's time we had a beautiful new deck. I would recommend this company to anyone who asks and will definitely use them for my next project.

(1) Back entry way Bill took both doors off and rebuilt the door frame so that it hangs correctly. our doors have never operated so smoothly in the 16 years we have lived here. (2) Front interior hallway Bill took the door off and rebuilt the door frame. the door closes flush with the door frame. (Again, first time in 16 years) (3) Exterior corner boards Bill cut the corner boards and replaced a portion with a PVC material. He then primed and painted the replaced portion. We will never have that problem again, because the PVC material will not rot. We were extremely pleased with the work Bill performed. He was prompt (exactly on time), courteous, professional and cleaned up the work area completely. We will surely use Bill whenever we have carpentry anywhere in our home.
Description of Work: (1) Back entry way Doors frames had shifted which caused both the exterior storm door and the exterior fiberglass door to bind on the threshold and go out of square. (2)Front interior hallway Door did not hang correctly. Frame was not built correctly. (3) Exterior corner boards Portions of the exterior corner boards needed to be replaced because of wood rot

Breeze Carpentry was prompt and professional in my dealings with them. I had them come out to do an estimate, and they were right on time and clearly knowledgeable about the process of replacing one of the columns on my front porch. The estimate came just a couple of days later, but it was just more than my other estimate. I will consider them for other projects in the future.

A bad experience that put off my getting a true professional to resolve my household issues by 2 weeks.
Description of Work: After several attempts to contact Breeze carpentry for repairs needed on my deck, and in my kitchen I have given up. I emailed and left ample phone messages but never heard back. I think that's enough to question the professionalism of this company; not even the courtesy of a phone call to tell me they weren't interested. Very disappointed, especially after the mostly wonderful reviews I'd read on Angie's list.Oh well......live and learn.

We did receive a message from this member thru Angie's List. However the phone number presented to us was incorrect. We tried on two separate occasions and was told we had the wrong number. Nobody by that name lived there. With no E-mail address and no home address, we figured this member would call us or e-mail us directly. To this date we have no record of any calls or E-mails received from this member. Not sure if they have confused us with another provider. It is extremely unfortunate that our three year perfect report card record is now tarnished do to a typing error!

Bill was prompt, knowledable and professional at all times. It was obvious from his discussion with me that he knew his trade. He disussed the options that would be available to me to fix my porch, the costs of each, and left the decision to me. He sent me a proposal very quickly and was able to start work earlier than expected which I really appreciated. Everything went smoothly and I am definitely considering hiring Bill to do my kitchen when the time comes for that project.

lHe applied for all the permits and got each aspect of the job inspected and signed off on. He allowed me to save some money by doing the demolition myself. He removed a radiator from an ineffectual place and reinstalled a brand new recessed radiator under the window. It took quite a bit of rerouting drains and other pipes to make it work. He built a new subfloor, removed old medecine chest and reframed the wall to accept a new one and installed it. He rerouted electrical wiring to do this. He replaced an old double hung weighted window with a new Harvey replacement window. Bill replaced the toilet, vanity, all plumbing fixtures including shower valve. He custom built cabinets to match my Restoration Hardware vanity and expertly matched the stain. He replaced the old horse hair plaster with water resistant cement board and blueboard. He built a nook in the shower so I no longer need a caddy. He replaced all the old tile with subway tile and a mosaic strip around the entire room. He gave the ceiling a new skim coat of plaster. He replaced the linoleum floor with 12x12" slate tiles. He added a GFIC plug and installed new sconces. He installed all my hardware (towel bars, toilet paper holder, soap dish, etc). He painted the walls and ceiling. Amazingly, Bill was able to get all of this done in 15 days. He's a real pro. He shows up when he says he will. He gets done what he says he will and leaves the place cleaner than he found it. His apprentice Kenny was great too. Good people. I trust Bill absolutely. He did most of the work when I was at work. I had a vision of how I wanted my bathroom to look and Bill made it happen. It turned out better than I could have hoped. He did such a good job that I've already hired him to do additional work. I bought my home 5 years ago and have had almost a dozen different tradesmen in my house doing work. Bill puts them all to shame. I say it again, This guy is a PRO!!! Hire Him!

Bill responded promptly to our inquiry on Angie's List. He provided a professional and prompt estimate. His estimate was very reasonable compared to other estimates we recieved. Bill and his employee, Kenny were very professional and trustworthy. Additionally, Bill provided us with a referral to his electrician who was also very trustworthy, reasonable and provided us with quality work. They all worked together to provide us with a beautiful backsplash in our kitchen. Bill responded to any of our questions and always followed up with us via phone, in person and email. I highly reccommend Bill. His work is fabulous and I would absolutely use Bill again.

Within two days he had a detailed estimate for me. The estimate did not include the cost of the flooring or the interior/exterior doors. I purchased them myself which he picked up for me. The project went very smoothly except the in delivery of the interior entry doors. The doors I ordered were special order and took a bit longer than we both expected. Bill was great and offered to paint the interior of the room at no additional cost to me. I took him up on it and saved myself some extra work. My house was built in 1907 and Bill had a lot of demo work and reinforcement work to do on the existing structure. It is very reassuring to know that a contractor wants not only for my remodel to look great but to be safe and sound. The room turned out great! The doors look amazing! Very happy with the finished product and the cost.
Description of Work: Remodeled back entry and old front entry into a pantry. Also replaced front and back entry and storm doors.

I had a great experience with Bill. He was very responsive when contacting him either through email or by phone. He was punctual for our scheduled appointment. When Bill started discussing the job it was clear he was very knowledgable and experienced. He had some good ideas and detail to include and was very clear about the whole process and where they might run into some problems. As he was going through and describing all the work to be done I will admit I was getting a bit nervous about cost since it sounded very thorough and a lot of work, but I was very pleasantly surprised by his quoted price. I had a total of 9 different contractors come in and give quotes and Bill's price was the third lowest (and that is including one price that was suspiciously low). I ended up not going with Bill because another very good contractor quoted a price a couple hundred bucks lower. Still, on a different job perhaps Bill's price would be lower. I will definitely be keeping Breeze Carpentry on my favorites list and will be calling Bill to quote for future projects.
Description of Work: Bill provided a quote and assessment for a minor bathroom re-model. The job included demo, installation of new tub, tiling the tub surround and tiling the floor and installation of a new vanity.

The workmanship is great. Billy is pleasant to work with. He didn't mind last minute adjustments to the scope right up until the end of the project.
Description of Work: Billy and his team reconfigured my deck and the stairs in preparation for the installation of an outdoor hot tub. They installed new pavers and made the stairs in a way that is removable for easy repair access to the new hot tub.

This job went incredibly well. Bill and his crew did an exceptional job on our porches. We called Bill and asked for an estimate after we saw a neighbor of ours using him to do work on their house. The neighbor raved about their experience, so we already had a good feeling. Bill came and did a general inspection of the porches as they were and was able to get back to us within a day or two with a comprehensive quote, listing out the materials he'd use as well as the cost of the permits he'd have to pull in order to do the work. Bill's quote came in quite a bit lower than other folks that we spoke with, and he seemed confident in his ability to complete the project on time and on budget. If we hadn't made changes in the original quote, it would have been spot on. The time frame was bumped out a little, but it was clearly due to weather issues and scheduling the building inspector. Throughout the entire project, Bill did an excellent job communicating with me. We live in a condo, so it can be a bit of a balancing act when extra people are involved. Bill was good at letting me know when things were happening, ex: permits, demo times, inspections, time frame changes, etc. There were a few days where the weather didn't cooperate or the inspector was out of town, and I was made aware of what was going on and why. When the work began, the demo went quickly, the debris was very neatly piled and promptly removed. Once building started, there was lots of progress every day. The construction itself was relatively simple, but it was done with precision. The lines are straight, the nails are in neat rows and properly sunk into the wood, joist hangers are in the proper places - we know this is not always the case because of the construction we had done on our back porches. Bill took great care in building railings that are extra strong and safe because we have a toddler that rides his trike on the porch and plays out there a lot. I appreciated his concern and suggestions to make sure our little guy and any other kids that play on the porch stay safe. Bill suggested a few things during the project that I am happy he brought up. He said that we should consider using cedar post toppers as opposed to PT. He said that the PT ones are cheaper, but they are known to break and warp quickly - the cedar will be prettier and will hold up much longer. Bill also suggested we consider an alternative to the lattice that was previously under the first floor porch. Instead of tacking up the lattice, he would build a frame and put up slats - creating a more substantial and frankly better looking bottom part of the porch. We agreed with his suggestion and had him do the slat option - we couldn't be more happy with its functionality as well as the look. One last reason - (though, I could certainly list more) I liked Bill was how personable he was. I am a stay at home mom to a 2 1/2 yr. old boy and every day that Bill was working we would go outside to watch him and say hello. My son ADORED these guys! They were patient and sweet with him, seemingly unphased by the fact that they were being asked over and over again what they were doing and why - and if that tool was going to make a big noise. We are sad that they are finished with the porches, it was a lot of fun watching! We look forward to seeing them in the spring - rumor has it a few other people on our street have lined them up for work!
Description of Work: Removed an unsafe bi-level porch on a 3 story house and replaced it with a very strong and neatly constructed bi-level porch out of pressure treated wood. Patched concrete stairs to first level porch and built a slatted screen to go underneath the porch (previously was lattice). Meticulously cleaned up every day from the work and left the final job looking exceptional!

Bill did a complete remodel of the bathroom in one of my rental apartments as well as replacing the kitchen counter top and sink. His estimate matched the final invoice to the penny. He was very responsive and he completed the project a few days before the deadline he gave me. The bathroom/kitchen came out beautiful and I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing a contractor.
Description of Work: Remove old kitchen counter and replace new one; relocate kitchen sink, gut bathroom and complete remodel including new flooring, toilet, sink, medicine cabinet, shelving unit and drywall
