We couldn't be happier with Stumpy's. The office manager responded promptly to my email to set up an appointment for an estimate and emailed me a reminder the day before. The owner showed up on time, was very professional and most helpful in the decision on what to do with our trees. The trees were located on a busy street very close to an elementary school so they decided it would be best to do the work on MLK day for safety reasons. The crew showed up on time and very quickly and efficiently had the work done inside of three hours! They were very polite and professional, didn't impede traffic in any way and cleaned everything up beautifully. All this was done on a bitterly cold windy day with snow on the ground! We have used many tree services over the years and Stumpy's has been the best by far. They exceeded our expectations at every level of the process. IWe highly recommend them!

They submitted the lowest cost estimate and the shortest amount of wait time until the work could be done. Despite overnight snowfall they showed up on time with all the needed equipment, trucks, crane, chipper, etc., With 4 men working quickly took down tree and pruned another tree.

The crew arrived first thing in the morning and completed the job by lunch. All in all a great job.

They were on time and had the trees/branches cut professionally. The area was left very clean afterwards as well. Thank you!

From start to finish the experience with Stumpy's was exceptional. The estimator was prompt and full of information, allowing us to fully understand the scope of work. He broke down the estimate for each tree and made a very detailed sketch of our house and the location of trees. Although the quote wasn't the absolute cheapest we received, it wasn't far off and the difference in responsiveness and quality more than made up for the difference. The crew from Stumpy's protected our lawn with plywood to prevent damage from the large tree-removal trucks, they were extremely efficient (from initial arrival to departure, we're talking less than 3 hours), and cleaned up our yard afterwards - you couldn't even tell they were there! We couldn't be happier with the work that Stumpy's did to remove the two trees in question. We will definitely and without hesitation use them again for removal of additional trees as we further clear our property.

I was really impressed with how professional the communication was, from setting up the appointment for an estimate, to getting text and email reminders, to a follow up after the fact to see what we thought. Scheduling the estimate was very easy. The person came out and we showed him what we needed, and got a quote. We sent in a deposit and they ended up doing the work about a week late. We were really pleased with the job and would use them again. (The only odd thing was that the website says you'll meet with a "certified arborist" and we had a few tress that look unhealthy that we wanted an opinion on. Yet the person I met with said that wasn't his area of expertise and in fact didn't even say someone else from the company could come out to evaluate the trees, but instead gave a reference to a whole other company.)

Stumpy's made my week. We came home from work and discovered a huge oak tree had snapped near the base and fallen across the driveway, completely blocking it. It just barely missed taking out our electrical wires. We live in the woods, so this meant I had to park the car near the street and crawl through the underbrush with the baby to get to our house. I called Stumpy's first thing in the morning. The office staff was so polite and helpful, and she said someone would be out as soon as possible to give us an estimate, but obviously they were pretty busy after the storm the day before. I was pleasantly surprised when someone showed up an hour later! He said the team could probably be out the same day, but he would give me a call after lunch to confirm a time. I received a written estimate. Sure enough, got the call around 2pm that they would be there in 20 minutes. Two guys with enormous trucks and equipment showed up and made quick work of it. Everyone I encountered was polite, professional and friendly. By 3:30pm, I was able drive my car down the driveway, and you couldn't even tell a tree had ever been there. There was literally a single wood chip on the driveway, that's how clean it was. I plan to call them again very soon to help us with the rest of the forest on our property.

We had a terrific experience with Stumpy's and could not be more satisfied. We called a number of tree services on Angie's to get estimates for this work. Only two were able to come out to bid on the job. The other provider came and did a quick eyeball of the trees and then sent an estimate the next day that turned out to be almost four times the estimate we received from Stumpy's. When the estimator came out from Stumpy's, he spent 30-45 minutes at the house. He examined each tree carefully, drew a schematic of the property on which he identified hazards (septic field), and he gave each tree that was to be pruned a letter so there would be no confusion. He then provided me with an estimate while he was at the house, which had specific prices for every aspect of the job. Needless to say, we scheduled with Stumpy's the next day. The office staff was pleasant and professional. They made scheduling easy, confirmed a date by email, and followed up by phone. The crew of three came out about two weeks later. They arrived first thing in the morning as promised, walked the property with me, identified each tree/bush that needed to be pruned, and set to work. They were at the house for about four hours and when they left, the trees and shrubs looked great. Our yard, driveway and walkways were clean and tidy. Stumpy's gets an A+ from us and we will most certainly call them whenever we need tree work in the future.

Stumpy's was fantastic, they came out promptly for both the estimate & service and their quote was exceptionally reasonable. I even had a 2nd company give me quote and Stumpy's was much less for the exact same work. If I have one qualm is that they could have cleaned up better. There was saw dust all over my deck, not a big deal as I was able to take me leaf blower to it, but a bit annoying.

I was really pleased with the complete service Stumpy's provided for a reasonable cost. During the initial visit, an estimator came out to take a look at the trees. He provided a detailed written quote for the work to be done that included a sketch of my property's layout, a description of the types of trees to be cut and an approximation of how much the trees would be cut back by. Afterwards, when I called to book the job, the scheduler was pleasant to speak with over the phone. Their preference is to collect 1/2 of the cost as a deposit at time of appointment, which was stated in their estimate. However since they couldn't give me a firm date over the phone we both agreed to put me in the queue and the deposit would be collected once a date was determined (which was a few days later when they called me back). A day prior to the appointment I called to see if a specific (or range) of time could be planned as I had to leave the area later in the afternoon and I wanted to oversee the work. I'm pretty sure they would have done the work regardless of whether I was home or not. They were able to confirm that the workers would come prior to my departure time which I appreciated. Three workers arrived to do the work. They were friendly and brought some pretty heavy equipment (ie: large cherry picker w/double boom, wood chipper and stump grinder, although that wasn't needed) with them which likely made the work time more efficient and ability to get to otherwise, hard to reach areas. Since I was home, we discussed the work to be done before they started (we were all in agreement) and then they got to work. They checked back in with me a couple times to make sure things were looking the way I had hoped. Everything certainly was (& more!). They used the chipper for everything that was cut and cleaned up everything very well. They took extra care in areas where equipment was going to be placed on my grass or landscaping by using protective covers. I estimate that the total work time was about 2 hours. Lastly, I received a phone call (voicemail in my case) several days later from Stumpy's to check to see if I was satisfied. Great job. Highly recommend. Plus, they had a 5% Angie's List discount! :) Tip: I had the benefit of several other estimates before Stumpy's provided one for me. Since I had these other estimates in hand (some quite high), I decided to verbally provide the estimator a price range of two of the more competitive estimates I had. While I'll never know for sure whether it helped with my Stumpy's estimate, it probably didn't hurt either. I figured since he made the time to provide the estimate, I may as well let him know a range in which to be competitive to the competition.

Terrific! They brought a large crane which they used to secure the tops of the trees and then cut the trees at the base. They lifted the trees clear and set them down and proceeded to disassemble them, putting branches through a chipper and cutting the large parts into segments which they loaded into a truck and took them away. There was absolutely no mess! They also used a cherry picker on a truck to trim up a tree near the house, it looks much better now. A huge style point: when I got the quote from the sales guy who came out and estimated what it would take, I forgot to ask for my Senior Discount (most of the businesses on Angies List offer Senior Discounts of 5 - 10%). After the work was done and paid for, realized I hadn't asked for my discount and called them to see if I could get it. A few days later a check arrived. What a class act! I highly recommend doing business with them, everything about them is great!

Overall, from beginning to end, Stumpy's was completely professional, provided excellent customer service, and did the requested job as promised. Scheduling was awesome. I spoke with two different office people, both were great in either setting up the initial consultation or answering questions about the job. The initial visit went well. I forget his name, but the Arborist took his time to listen and was very careful to draw out in detail exactly what the project would look like. It was clear that he knew what he was doing. Before "Tree-mageddon", I had questions about additional trees not initially scoped for the project. Stumpy's was very accommodating and assured me that the extra work could be handled that day and if needed, the morning after. On the day of the project, the crew arrived on time. Reviewed the list of add-ons, which included a pine tree that had to be at least 100 FT tall, and got to work right away. In the end, they did a fantastic job and charged me a very fair price for the extra work. I definitely would recommend Stumpy's!

I contacted Stumpys via Angies list and then by phone. I spoke with the office and arranged for a site visit and estimate within a week (4.23.2015). Mark arrived on time and we walked the property to identify dying tree's with a higher risk of fall towards the street, the driveway or the house. Mark stuck around, took a few photos and provided a handwritten quote within 30min. The quote was detailed and included a Site Layout drawing. Mark even tagged the tree's identified for removal prior to leaving the site. I spoke with 3 other service providers and received quotes from 2 of them. Stumpy's had the other two beat by a wide margin. I called to confirm the proposal and provide a 50% deposit within a week (4.28.2015). I called one week later to check in on when the service would be provided and was told that they were still working on scheduling (5.5.2015). The following Monday (5.11.15), I called again. The office had just completed the scheduling, and let me know that the team would remove the trees starting first thing on the morning of 5.27.2015. The crew arrived by 7:30 and began setting up their gear. They were done by 11. The work was done quickly and professionally. The site was left in great shape- they cleaned up well. Multiple tree's were close to the house and deck and had to be secured, cut and lifted over the house to be laid down for further cutting and chipping. They did keep four large trunks, I presume for firewood. They took care of the surrounding plants and did a great job grinding down 4 stumps while keeping the 5th tree in the same grove. I am very happy with the service, price and results. I would certainly use these folks again.

They did an excellent job. There was no damage done to water gardens within 10 feet of the trees. The stumps were ground. Clean up of the yard, driveway, and street was excellent. All of the people on the team were very professional. We have used Stumpy's numerous times in the past and they did an excellent job each time. We will definitely use them again.

I met with Stumpy's on Friday late afternoon at my parents house. There were about 7 "shrubs" that had become trees (taller than the house and bumping against it), they had to come down, plus while they were up there, I asked them to trim a couple of the other branches of trees that were hitting the house. They told me I could save money if I allowed them to just fit the job in when they had time. They called me the following Monday afternoon and the job was done and cleaned up perfectly by the time I arrived at the house late in the afternoon.

The tree service group was right on time! They were all courteous and professionalism. The trees look great. Thank you to Paul and company.

I called Stumpy's on a Friday to remove some stumps ahead of a fence install that was scheduled for the following Wednesday. They said they would come to the property to give an estimate but could not guarantee the work to be done by Wednesday. James came over on Monday, gave me a call Monday night with the news that not only they could do the job, they'd do it Tuesday. They removed all the stumps discussed and threw me a freebie with a stump that I started digging up in a different part of the yard. On top of all that, I got a courtesy call on Wednesday from Stumpy's to ask me how everything went. Five star work, five star service. We will definitely be contracting them again for other tree work we may need done.

Recent high winds took down half the largest tree on our property, unfortunately landing on the property of two of our neighbors and causing significant damage. Stumpy's answered my call, promptly. They scheduled an arborist to come out. He was very professional and provide me with a quote before leaving. The work was scheduled in a very timely fashion. Everything was completed in less than a week from my initial call. The crew arrived on time, were courteous and took care when working on our and our neighbors' properties to handle the mess. The arborist came back at the end of the job to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. They made a difficult situation less stressful. We're very pleased with the work.

We contacted Stumpys in the evening when we heard the crack of the pine tree. They sent someone over early the next morning. A few days later we had the Stumpy's crew here.- They were even early! They were prepared for everything. First they had to move snow in order to get the crane on a flat area. When the crane arrived everyone knew their job to get the machinery set up, balanced, and ready to go. They then pulled up a chipper. An employee was sent up over the top of the tree and lowered into the tree to secure it. Once it was secure, he climbed down further and cut the top section of the tree off. The crane lifted the tree section directly over the house and drive way, setting it down in the street. A man driving a small cat then picked up the end of the tree and, with the assistance of the crane, moved the tree over to the chipper. These guys worked so well together! It was a pleasure to watch! After the tree with it's two forks was finally taken down, they quickly loaded the two biggest logs, dismantled the crane. They then actually cleaned up all of the area!!! They raked and used a leaf blower to get all of the litter cleaned up. These guys are fantastic! Responsive, on time, polite, cleaned up, and worked well together. It was also a great show! We still have lots of BIG trees in our yard and I hope to have them around for a long time. When we need tree assistance, we will definitely use Stumpy's. We highly recommend them!

What I think defines a good service provider is how the company responds to adversity or a mistake. This project was a small one for Stumpy's. Without going into a lot of detail, there was an apparent miscommunication between what we requested and what was conveyed to the workers, who did the work. There was also miscommunication about when the work would be done. Because of that, I was not here and was unable to direct them when they did the initial work. As a result, the main work we needed them to do was not done originally. After the initial work was done, we spoke with them to express our disappointment. A lesser company may have argued and become defensive. Stumpy's eventually returned with the goal of making me happy. This time I was here to discuss the job personally with the workers. In returning to finish the job, they did a lot of work that was missed the first time and provided a lot of service for the money. In order to make this right, Stumpy's was willing to lose money on this job. Sometimes I have had to do that too in my own business; but it is the right thing to do when things go wrong. That is what excellent companies do. As far as their work and capability, Stumpy's has very sophisticated and expensive lift equipment that enables them to do a lot of difficult work relatively quickly. In addition to the tree work, keep in mind that cutting wood leaves a huge mess. I can not overemphasize the amazing clean up they did. They picked up every branch and twig, put them through their wood chipper and blew the yard and driveway so clean, you'd never know they were here. In the end, Stumpy's proved that it stands behind its work, cares about its customers, and delivers on what it promises. Bottom line....we are now very pleased with the work that was done; and I recommend Stumpy's to anyone that needs any level of tree work done.

While I was not home while the work was done, everything was removed as described in quote. Clean up was immaculate. Not even a twig was left on the ground.

Stumpy's estimate was not at all the lowest I received, but so many things can go wrong with tree services that I didn't want to take any chances with a big job so close to the neighbor's house - and one that was going to inconvenience other neighbors by blocking a driveway. Stumpy's has a reputation for excellence, and they protect their reputation. Knowing this, I had no worries about whether they would arrive on time, be considerate of the neighbors, do a good job, and clean up. They checked in with me on arrival, talked to the neighbors, worked steadily through a very rainy day, and cleaned up. And I could relax and enjoy my tea.
