Description of Work: Paul assembled a computer chair, fixed my screen and installed the air conditioner and repaired my daybed, which I thought was beyond all hope of salvation. Paul responded to my first phone call and agreed to come the following week. Paul was punctual and very professional. He was able to solve the enigma that was my daybed and restore it to full functionality. I would call on Paul again if I needed a handyman.

 + 0 moreI asked Paul out for a 2nd visit after his 1st visit went so well. Paul arrived on time and fully prepared. He optimized his work schedule so that while one task was waiting (mud drying, primer drying, etc) he could work on the other. He made a run to the Home Depot to purchase materials and there were no issues. The quality of work was excellent and, as usual, Paul was courteous and friendly. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: Paul removed several old cabinets from the laundry room. Then he patched up a large hole in the wall (drywall, mud, tape). Finally, he built some simple under-cabinet shelves to replace a trash compactor that was removed in the kitchen.

He went and quot;above and beyondand quot; by taking care of minor details after removing some cabinets (spackling holes, reconnecting a disconnected dryer vent, tacking up electrical cable). Paul is very personable, professional, and pays attention to detail. I got the sense that he is one of those and quot;perfectionistand quot; guys that really likes to do things right and that is exactly what I was looking for. His pricing is very reasonable for the quality of work performed.
Description of Work: Demo (remove) cabinets in laundry room, mount mailbox to concrete wall, pick up large, heavy box from retail store and deliver to top floor of house.

 + 0 morePaul's web presence and Angie's List rating is what brought me to him. I emailed Paul regarding some prompt and thorough work I needed to prep my Condo for sale. He was able to fit me in - Coming by late on a Friday evening to do a walkthrough of the job and even brought in extra help to make sure the job was done on time in the 3 days I had available. It was great working with Paul, who was very thorough in making sure everything met my desires, and was sure to redo work if it didn't come out just right. Our place looks fantastic, and I actually was prepared for the total cost to be more: Paul worked very hard and fast, and I look forward to working with him again in the future!
Description of Work: Patching and painting including high heights (I provided the ladder), installing of blinds, cleaning high windows, fixing a loose deck railing, installing some flashing over doors, and lots of other little fixes and painting spots inside and out.

 + 0 moreI called him to come over and emailed a list of tasks. He came at the appointed hour on the agreed day and I showed him all the work. Then he did it. He took a break for lunch. At the completion of the last task, he calculated the time, which was the total time he was there, minus lunch. He also deducted five minutes ("I like to be fair and precise," he said) because he took a cell phone call. This came to six hours, so he charged me 6 times his hourly rate. All good.
Description of Work: I just joined Angie's list and wanted to recommend Paul Gerzon! I just hired him for six hours last Friday, but I have used him 2 or 3 times in the last two years, and every time have been completely satisfied! About two years ago he put in a new kitchen faucet, and it didn't take long, and is still working fine. (I actually have a more complex plumbing project right now that he feels I should get a plumber for, which is why I am on this list now.) This recent job was lots of small stuff -- deal with a bifold door that has been driving us crazy, repair some kitchen drawers, put together a new Ikea bed (not so small, but didn't take that long), install a new medicine cabinet, stuff like that. About a year ago we called him in to deal with our basement floor, as I wanted to make the room nicer. It had some very old tile in it, and Home Depot people came to look at it and gave an estimate.... but then their subcontractor refused to do it! So I called Paul and he removed the old tile and installed a floating floor composed of vinyl tile, 1' by 3' pieces, worked out great! Still in fine shape. He did it at about 2/3 the expected cost, too. In the past he has done some electrical work, such as install two dimmer switches and a new hall ceiling light. He does basic electrical work, basic plumbing, and extensive carpentry. I called several of his references when I first hired Paul, and he got glowing reports. My experience is that he arrives on time, works well, is very friendly, is intelligent; and he played music I liked the whole time. (He DID ask before adding noise to the house -- but I liked the music, so we had it on.) Also tolerant of my curious children! I highly recommend him.

 + -1 morePAUL IS GREAT. HE HAS COME TO OUR HOME MANY TIMES AND IS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. HE HAS HELPED WITH A NUMBER OF JOBS AND IS PUNCTUAL, POLITE, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND FRIENDLY. THERE HAVE EVEN BEEN A COUPLE OF TIMES THAT HE HAS SHOWN ME HOW TO DO A JOB BY MYSELF. THE PERFECT HANDYMAN.

 + -1 moreDISAPPOINTED IS PUTTING IT MILDLY. I AGREED TO AN HOURLY WAGE WHICH WAS MY FIRST MISTAKE. I SPENT MOST OF THE DAY KEEPING PAUL ON TASK. HE WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE JUST AS REPORTED PREVIOUSLY, BUT HE WAS ALSO EASILY DISTRACTED ON PROBLEMS OTHER THAN THE LIST WE HAD AGREED TO. HE SHOWED UP WITHOUT A HELPER WHICH HE OBVIOUSLY NEEDED TO HANG THE SHELF AND EXPECTED ME TO BE AVAILABLE TO HELP HIM LIFT AND MEASURE THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND I WAS PAYING HIM $55/HR! ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL. MADE NO EFFORT TO KEEP WORK AREAS CLEAN AND DID NOT CLEAN UP AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE.

 + -1 moreTHE HOURLY RATE WAS REASONABLE, BUT THE ESTIMATE FOR ACCOMPLISHING THE TASKS WAS WAY OFF. INSTEAD OF A FOUR HOUR JOB, IT BECAME AN 8 HOUR ONE. GERZON DID SAY HIS ESTIMATE MIGHT BE UNDER THE EVENTUAL OUTCOME, BUT I DID NOT EXPECT IT TO BE SO BADLY OFF. IF I HAD KNOWN THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE EMBARKED ON THE PROJECT. MOST DISTURBING WAS GERZON ASKING ME INAPPROPRIATE PERSONAL QUESTIONS AND I FOUND HIM, FRANKLY, STRANGE.

HE CALLED BACK LATER AND LEFT A MESSAGE SAYING THAT HE COULD HELP US ON SATURDAY. WE MANAGED TO GET SOMEONE ELSE TO COME ON THE SAME DAY, BUT PAUL WAS POLITE AND PROMPT.
