John is a terrific landscaper and I highly recommend him, without reservations. As a first time home buyer, I learned a lot during the land survey. My deed referred to easements but there were minimal details. I had no idea abut locations, dimensions, and the legal and logistical ramifications. Also, the boundaries with the neighbor's property on each side of my property was not well defined. I am planning a lot of yard modifications (adding a well, increasing grass area, etc.) that could have impinged on neighbors' properties and on easements. I am very glad I did this survey. John is experienced, knowledgable, thorough, and professional. He is flexible, e.g. I work til late in the evenings and he was able to accommodate my work schedule for meetings. He is friendly and easy to work with. He goes out of his way to help, e.g. the deed was missing important details and he was able to sort it out with extra research. I called other surveyors for pricing so I know his bill was fair. Given the extra work that he did I offered to pay additional fees but he did not want it. For land survey he is the guy to call, especially if you plan to do major modifications. Note to new homeowners, especially from other states: Be careful with easements and wetlands...there are restrictions when it comes to modifications. Be sure to read up on it before you start any work, otherwise you may face fines and restoration fees.

It went better then ever

I contacted John via email about surveying our property. He responded right away and and answered all of my questions. He looked up some basic information about my property and was quickly able to provide a quote for the work. Once engaged, he did all of the background research and then about a week later he called and indicated that he was ready to stake out the property lines. We scheduled the stake out so he could also walk us around the property lines when he was done. John showed up on time and staked out the property. He then walked me around the property lines and explained the details. I had a few follow up questions (what was the exact size of the property in acres?, etc.) which he was able to answer. He was very professional. Overall, we were very happy with his services and would recommend him for any type of surveying work.

This was a positive experience from start to finish. I sent John Abagis an e-mail inquiring about his surveying services at 11 p.m. and by 7:55 the next morning, I had a response, including the information that he had already looked up my deed. He was extremely pleasant on the phone, answering all of my questions directly and in detail. His initial estimate, before seeing my property, was the final fee that was charged. Whereas another surveyor had said that there might be some additional fees for unforeseen findings, John made it clear that whatever he found and however much time the job took, the fee he quoted was the final one. John answered all calls promptly and showed up at the pre-arranged times. He was friendly, courteous and professional and I would gladly use his services again in the future and recommend him highly to others.

Very quick response after initial contact. John told me it'd take approximately 2-3 weeks to investigate town records. It took just over 2 weeks for John to complete this research. We then booked a time (convenient to me). John met me at my house and within 1-2 hours had my property staked out. When complete, John walked the property line with me, explaining as he went. Very satisfied. In addition - John was professional, polite, and seems like an honest/upstanding guy. Great to work with - definitely recommend using his services if you need a survey done.

We got bids from several surveyors for our property in Newton. John's was the most straightforward and reasonable bid. He was very thoughtful in contacting the city first to be clear on what would be required and he spoke with our architect for the same purpose. He was very prompt in completing the services and was very professional. We will work with John again to add our addition to the survey and to stake the property in the spring.

John promptly returned my call. He was the only surveyor I called, so I didn't compare prices, but it sounded about right to me. He answered all of my questions. Work was completed in a timely fashion.

We found John through Angie's list. Right on the first call he struck us as an extremely courteous, straightforward professional. He provided a fixed quote, showed up when he said he would, did a great job, marked the property lines appropriately, and that was that! Judging by our conversations with several other surveyors we contacted, this could have been an involved and potentially costly project. John made it easy and painless. I would definitely recommend him.

I chose four "well-rated" providers from Angie's List to get quotes. John called back within a few hours, and was offered to come out and give me a quote within the week (which he did.) In our phone conversation, I described a variety of "property line" issues we were having with a neighbor. John alleviated many of my concerns just through our initial discussion because he is SO well versed in many property laws. (I am not advertising him as a lawyer by any means, but he clearly knows his business and has been doing this for a long time.) His quote came in at a very reasonable price compared to the other's I had contacted. (Aside from competitive pricing, he was by far the most professional. One of the guys I called from Angie's list -- actually with the most "votes" -- gave me the creeps. He asked for papers from our closing that no one else asked for?!) John spent about 3 1/2 hours on our property with one of his employees to do the initial survey work, then returned on another date to stake out the property. The actual staking probably took 2 hours. We were pleased with the results, and surprised to see how much more land we actually owned that we initially thought. John gets our vote -- he is professional, competitive, honest, trustworthy, and very knowledgeable.

I contacted John based upon some of the reviews on Angie's List. He lived up to everything the previous reviewers had written. He's extremely responsive (contacted me the same day.) He fit me into his schedule right away and staked and marked our property. He's very professional and a pleasure to deal with.

I contacted John on 4/20 to ask if he could survey our property during that week (4/20th). He was very prompt to respond and said he should be able to complete the request provided the weather was good. John was able to do the work. He was very pleasant to work with and professional. I would definitely hire him again.

John Abagis and his crew arrived on time and completed the project on schedule. Before starting he explained the procedure and some concerns. He staked the property and located the original iron boundary markers. I requested a drawing of the property lines which arrived in the mail within 3 days. I was extremely satisfied.

I know John ended up doing more work than he thought we would need to do, but he made no complaint about the agreed-upon estimate. John was very professional and courteous. He was better than most service providers about communicating with me by phone. It was a pleasure dealing with him.

Person I spoke with was very courteous. Advised me to find a surveyor in my town; that I would have to pay travel for him.
