Description of Work: They advised us on a computer system for our home and installed it, including transferring data and installing all needed software. Their pricing structure was complicated, as they bundled the hardware and services, but overall worth it. All work was done well and within the agreed on time period at the quoted price. They have provided telephone and in person support to answer questions about the installation etc.

Description of Work: My 7-year-old Apple iMac was frozen and not responding at all, so I called Geek Housecalls. Although they were going through a transition at the time and it was a holiday week, they were able to find someone to come to my office within a day. The person was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, explained the problem in non-technical terms, which I greatly appreciated, and made suggestions regarding future use. Most importantly, he got my system resuscitated and up and running within an hour. We initially both thought it was a goner, but he stuck with it and tried several things to get it working. He even fixed a few things that weren't functioning properly before the system crashed. I have used Geek Housecalls in the past and each time I have been impressed with their efficiency, professionalism and great response times.

Bill arrived and said that the hard drive was not salvageable; however, for $150 he could tell me if we would be able to get any data, and then it might be thousands more to actually get the data. I had asked for an 80Gb hard drive; he brought a 160 Gb hard drive and then spent three hours trying to make it work with my computer. He then tried to charge me $250. Since the computer wouldn't start (!!) I told him to take the drive out and I wasn't going to pay for it. He said he would find an 80Gb drive and call us back. Never called. Basically, I spent $130 for this guy to tell me that there was nothing we could do; he also wasted most of my day. Terrible experience!
Description of Work: I called because my hard drive on my PC had died. When I called, the sales rep told me it would be no problem to get the data off the drive. I also asked for a replacement drive. Neither service was performed.

+ -1 moreI really like Geek Housecalls because they come to your home to do the service. They are knowledgeable and responsive. I will call on them any time I have a computer problem. My computer has been great working with no problems every since they did the work.
Description of Work: He came and repaired my hard drive on my computer when I was having problems with it. He also installed an anti-virus software.

+ -1 moreI have been using them for about 4 years now. I would not use anybody else. They do nights, weekends, and work with my schedule. They ve set up my security firewall and network. They ve advised me on equipment and set up anti-virus software. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: They diagnosed that I needed more storage space in my computer and advised me and on how much storage to buy. Also how to clean up files so it would stop running so slow before I got the storage.

Description of Work: Our 6-year old computer was very sluggish and we were having problems with the computer going into hibernation mode on its own and not coming out of it.

+ -1 moreWe made an appointment for someone to come to our house early on a Saturday afternoon. About an hour after they said they would come, we called to ask why nobody had come yet. They didn't seem to have a good reason, but sent Bill right away. Once he was here, Bill cheerfully performed the tasks we needed. After he left, something new was wrong with our computer. Our follow up email garnered no useful response. Although we are satisfied with the work that Bill did do when he finally came, we are less satisfied with the follow up.

Description of Work: I HIRED THEM TO GET MORE AIRPORT WORKING. AFTER AN HOUR AND A HALF OF WATCHING THE GUY DO EVERYTHING THAT I HAD ALREADY DONE, IT STILL DID NOT WORK. Description of Work: MY LAPTOP COMPUTER WAS NOT BOOTING UP. THE GEEKS CAME TO MY OFFICE AND ASSESSED THE PROBLEM AS AN OVERLOADED HARD DRIVE. THEY TOOK MY LAPTOP, REPLACED THE HARD DRIVE, TRANSFERRED ALL MY FILES ONTO THE NEW HARD DRIVE AND DELIVERED IT BACK TO ME READY TO USE.
