Description of Work: Starting with the good. All of the young men who actually moved our belongings were uniformly professional, competent, cooperative and accommodating. The bad, Pat, who I believe is the owner and does the estimates and scheduling, was a huge disappointment to work with. First it took multiple phone calls and emails to get the original estimate. Then when the move parameters changed it again took multiple phone calls and emails to get the new estimate. There was also a general lack of follow through on things he said he would do. Finally, at the delivery about a quarter of our things were left behind in storage. I made a HUGE mistake in writing the check for the final payment. Pat promised not to deposit it until I was "100% satisfied," so I resisted my first instinct which was to put a stop payment on the check. It was cashed 2 days later and before the remainder of our things were delivered. Even then one final piece of furniture was left behind which we ultimately had him leave with friends after multiple promises to deliver it were not fulfilled. I would not hesitate to hire any of the men who actually did the move, but I would not use Five College movers again, and I would strongly recommend anybody thinking of using them to consider someone else. Also, if you have a discount or coupon, be sure the estimate clearly indicates if the price quoted includes any promised discount. Finally, unlike every mover we have used in the past, Five College did not provide an itemized inventory. We were told this isn't done any more, but I have my doubts.

Description of Work: They loaded my furniture and boxes into a truck that I had rented for my move from MA to VA. It went fine, but when I arrived at my destination, I was surprised to find almost all of my wood furniture (cherry bedroom set 2 large dressers have nicks and wood gouged out of them and antique hutch ( my grandmothers, also had scrapes and wood gouges) both that I will have to have sanded down and repaired. I gave them ample pads and blankets, but when the truck was being unloaded we saw how it was loaded and then understood the damage.

Description of Work: The crew did an excellent job in awful weather. It rained all day long, with several periods of heavy downpours and they didn't flinch or complain once. You would have thought it was a beautiful sunny day. They worked hard all day, were respectful, and were very careful not to damage our property. They worked very well together and acted professionally. The only negative thing I can comment on is that they had to make an extra trip between both houses as they couldn't fit everything in the first trip. This cost me a fair amount of money as I was moving from MA to CT. When I raised the concern with Patrick (Owner), he apologized, took full responsibility, provided a refund for the extra travel time and an HDMI cord that was missing. He even sent me a hand written note apologizing again for the mistake and thanking me for my business. Mistakes happen. The important thing is standing behind your work and/or product. And Patrick did that with 100% professionalism. This was excellent customer service and plain old good business. That's how the best companies conduct business. They weren't the cheapest quote I received but were worth every penny. I'd use them again without hesitation.

Description of Work: Three nice guys arrived exactly on time in a very large truck. We had them move all of our furniture (we'd moved the boxes of small stuff ourselves) to our new house about 15 minutes away. | |They worked quickly and efficiently, loading, unloading, disassembling, and resembling. The process took almost exactly three hours. | |It was certainly was worth the money, and a good experience in general.

Description of Work: I believe we got off to a rocky start during the initial quoting process...but that probably was impatience on my part trying to line up all the different people we needed to move. There was some miscommunication regarding scheduling of a quote, but Pat, I believe his name was, was very apologetic and remedied the problem, gave us a very competitive quote with a discount to thank us for giving them another chance. Well we were very glad we went with this company....they are very professional, confirmed time and date prior to move day, on the day they showed up promptly; two, energetic, friendly movers who carefully and thoughtfully blanketed and plastic wrapped all our furniture. They blanketed our banisters, front doors, layed down carpet to protect our floors, gently and carefully moved heavy and light furniture without marring any of our wood or painted surfaces. These guys were very organized and methodical; they walked through both homes prior to moving out and moving in furniture to determine the best plan for accomplishing the tasks in the most efficient manner. I can't thank them enough; this company was very easy to work with, very professional, extremely hard working, all my furniture arrived safely, without a scratch. I was exhausted watching them work so h****** a very hot, muggy July day! Highly recommend them and will do so to anyone I know is moving!

Description of Work: I needed 2 guys for about 2 hours to move a number of large, awkward, and/or heavy furniture pieces to different rooms in the house (bed, desks, china cabinet, dining room table, etc.) Some pieces went upstairs, some to the basement, etc.

Description of Work: We used Five College Movers LLC at the end of August or beginning of September to move our daughter and granddaughter up to Massachusetts.

Description of Work: Pat came by last month to give an estimate. Very thorough job of looking over the rooms and what to move. Two guys came on the move-in day, wrapped and packed everything professionally. Wonderful job. My estimate was for $515 but with two groupons (and my help - the guys did not mind if I helped out), we got the price down to $158!

Description of Work: I used Five College Movers to move the contents of two households into one new home. I rented my own U Haul and packed my own boxes. FCM loaded and unloaded my boxes and furniture and, at my request, drove the U Haul to the new house. They meticulously disassembled, wrapped and protected my furniture for the trip in the truck and carefully moved everything into the new house. Nothing was damaged.

Description of Work: I do not know what the problem is with this company. I have contacted them by phone twice (both times leaving detailed messages with my contact information) and by e-mail over the course of 3-4 weeks. They have never even gotten back in touch with me. If this is any indication of how they do business or of how they treat their customers, I would take my business elsewhere.
