Description of Work: I used this service to install a completely new A/C and heating system, gas, inside and out. The old system was approximately 26 years old when I inherited the house. The old system has started freezing up the summer before, and flooding parts of the house, and I knew that we would have to replace it even though it was not a convenient time. It still did heat the house all right. We had a cold winter, not needing to use the A/C that winter as we normally do since our temperatures in winter time can range from 0 to 80 degrees. But it was one of our more consistently cold winters, so in February, I looked at Angie's List, and read the reviews of many customers for many of the companies. I finally decided to call Southern Air, and Mike came out, examined the system fairly thoroughly, but I think it was pretty obvious to him, as I had expected, I needed to replace the system. I was spending way too much in electricity. The system was installed, mostly in one day, they did it professionally, and cleaned up after themselves. There were a few initial problems in the Trane System. Some wires had been knocked loose, during installation, OR were loose from the factory, but I called, and they sent someone out soon to do a thorough inspection. It took him several hours and a lot of work in my attic [problem was not there], before he diagnosed the loose wires inside the Trane A/C system. There was also another small problem that only took a few minutes to repair, and after that things have been smooth for the past year. I was able to finance in at very low rates through my mortgage company, and true to promise, so far, the electricity bill has continued to drop over the past year. My Dad had paid over $300/moth before he died. I decided to go with annualized equal payments. That started out at $250/ month and is now down to $149/month after a year. I can't give all the credit to the new system, because there are fewer of us living here now, and live with different temperatures, but I would give it most of the credit. It generally keeps us as cool in the summer and warm in the winter as we want to be. We are blessed. The only exception to that is when the outside temperature nears 100 or above the A/C does not always keep the temperature at 72, where we prefer it to be. I am home most of the time, and that is comfortable for me. On those days, the inside temperature might rise to the mid 70's for a few hours in the afternoon. The salesman had told me it should keep the house at 50 degrees if I wanted it to, but then when I called about it, they said that it would have trouble keeping us below 75 when it was 95 outside. He , after about 6 months, mentioned that there was about a 20 degree limit as to how cool it could get the house. That is my primary concern. As it sometimes gets to 110, very humid, dangerously hot, and if 90 is the best I can get, I will then be unsatisfied. But with normal weather, so far, it has done well.
