They caused a bigger problem than what we started with and they only worked for about 15 minutes.
Description of Work: They had a deal for cleaning out a drain for a good price. They said the job was bigger than what they thought. They charged us twice what they promised. They were overpriced and they didn’t get the job done. They just pushed everything down the pipe and we had to have another company snake the drain.

Fantastic! We now have clean-smelling drains and I know what products to avoid to keep pipes intact but still have them clean!
Description of Work: Cleaned out drains in bathroom overflow trap and showed me how to do all my drains myself on a regular basis. Also gave an estimate, including various options for repairing kitchen faucet assembly and set up the repair to be done on that same day.

I decided to call Earl's Plumbing rather than calling Stuart back. Frankly, I thought the plumber should have suggested cutting a hole in the back of the cabinet and accessing the wall that way, rather than by going through my den wall. Sure enough, that's what the guy from Earls suggested and did
Description of Work: We had water coming out from under the kitchen cabinets when the dishwasher ran. We flipped a coin between calling plumber vs dishwasher repair and called Stuart Services. The plumber said he wanted to cut a hole in our den wall (backs up to kitchen); that there was a leak in a pipe in there. I decided to call dishwasher repair instead, they agreed that problem was pipe in the wall.

I don't remember the exact date because of the time lapse betwee 2010 and now. Arrived on time, fixed problem satisfactorily. Was very isistent that we needed to upgrade fuse box to citcuit breaker panel to the point that I felt he was more concered about selling his services and less on my safety. BTW, I had the panel upgraded late last year by a licesed electrician at a price considerably less than thee Stuart letrician quoted.

I hired them to do work on a bathroom at the same time as another company. They would argue constantly with the other company and not get anything done. They were like a bull in a china shop. They would throw their tools on a brand new marble floor, did amateur work, and were very unprofessional with no attention to detail. They delayed the process every step of the way.

I called and requested a repair visit for my air-conditioner and it was scheduled for the next day. I was called about 30 minutes before the technician was to arrive and the technician arrived on time. He was courteous and professional. He determined the source of the air-conditioner's problem and ordered the part and scheduled the appointment for three days later.

I called the provider out to clear a clogged drain in my kitchen sink. Rather than doing any tests to determine what could be causing the problem, the provider went outside, looked under my house, and came back into say I need to replace the drain line because it is cast iron -estimate cost $1400. I asked him if he couldn't use a snake to clear the drain and he told me he would need to charge me $150 whether it worked or not and showed me the service book with charges. I agreed and he gave it a try, but was not able to angle the snake adequately to get in the drain. In the end he charged me a fee to come out (maybe $65) and then a fee for trying toi snake out the drain but left me with a gclogged drain. I went to the hardware store, bought a heavy duty drain cleaner and that did the trick. Footnote: SOmeone from Stuart called me the next week to schedule the $1400 pipe replacement job I did not need.

Over the course of a week my central air conditioner kept tripping a single 20amp circuit breaker about every 12 hours, shutting it down. I've used Stuart for many years and have a service contract. When I called, the rep explained there was a $50 trip charge which would be applied to any service done. I was aware that circuit breakers do tend to wear out over 10 years, and that replacement was only slightly more difficult than changing a lightbulb. I fully expected the charge for service would be almost entirely covered by the trip charge. When the serviceman heard my my problem he opened with having to run a $342 comprehensive diagnostic. I was quite taken aback and asked that he only replace the circuit breaker. He then attempted to persuade (pressure) me to do the $342 diagnostic or the company could not warranty the work. I insisted that he only change the circuit breaker. He told me that this would cost $132. I was again taken aback. He explained that to make any money they had to charge this much because of the price of the part. I felt I had no choice and authorized the service assuming he had not backed out the trip charge yet. Wrong. He made the repair, charged me $132 and was on his way in fifteen minutes. After he left I googled the exact same circuit breaker he used to make the repair and found it listed retail at Lowes for well under $8.00. I have to wonder why the first action suggested by the serviceman was not to run a diagnostic on the ten year old circuit breaker. This kind of unsavory business practice is not what I expected from a company I have had so many good experiences in the past. BTW - the air conditioner has not tripped the circuit breaker for five days since it was replaced.

Patrick was friendly and very professional. I needed an exhaust fan motor replaced, and he appeared to know exactly what he was doing. He answered any questions I had, and went out of his way to get the job done. We had a light drizzle during his installation, and he volunteered to get on the roof to complete the job, instead of having to reschedule on a non-rainy day. I really appreciated his willingness to get the job done in one visit, rather than having to reschedule days down the road. Kudos to Patrick. I will certainly contact Stuart Services if I need future electrical work done.

Chris was punctual, friendly, and came up with a solution to our problem. We have a 125 year old, 800sq ft cottage uptown. Another company told us that the job would be very involved because our a/c was under a low house and would require extensive digging. Still another had quoted us over $2000 just to replace the 4 vents and duct work under the house. Chris suggested we use 1/2 of an existing closet to house the unit inside and relocated the duct work to the interior as well. The work was scheduled and performed within a week. JT, the representative in the office, was very friendly, professional and helpful with financing options. He was really great. Our experience was great. The results are great. While the price wasn't and quot;greatand quot;, I believe it was reasonable and fair. Oh, I forgot to mention that Chris realized he hadn't accounted for our skylights upon 1st inspection and upgraded us from a 2 ton unit to a 2 1/2 ton with no extra charge. I would recommend Stewart Services to anyone.

They are fabulous for plumbing. We also have an external generator because we are in hurricane valley here and they are so prompt with their services if we have any problems at all. They come and inspect every six months and so I had them in this morning. My father had it set up for like ten months for maintenance which was $2495 and what it does is it comes into our account to renew. When he replaced his generator whatever he had in his account went to the price of the generator. I have the monthly thing so I don't know how much a typical service call would cost. In fact I'm having them replace some bathroom fixtures next week.

I sent someone else out and when the toilet was taken up it was clogged with paper and other debris which was causing the problem. It had nothing to do with the toilet not working. After cleaning out the debris the toilet has been working fine. I don't think the guy even snaked the toilet to see what the problem might be and felt I was just paying him to come out and try to sell me a new toilet. I would not use this person again.
Description of Work: The toilet was not flushing well and needed to be looked at. The worker called me and said the toilet needed to be replaced at a ridiculously high cost (800.00 -1000.00) and I told him to just leave it alone. I thought he inspected the toilet and came to that conclusion.

After Hurricane Katrina many companies were hiring undocumented workers to perform their work and providing low quality service. Stuart used dedicated employees who were prompt and professional. I received quality merchandise. I asked about whole home surge protection, and after a short discussion of options, we agreed to a reasonable price and it was added to the job. I was very pleased with the work provided on the entire job. The only negative is their overall prices are so darn expensive.

They took around a month! They made the home owner get an attic latter through another company they provided, the charge for the latter was $10,000! Just had to have latter replaced because of improper installation. The duct work was supposed to be tied in on the existing supply and return ducting and registers, this was not done! The ducting they put in was not properly sized nor sealed or hung properly! I found 12 seams leaking between the collars and the flex duct, some were not even zip-tied nor taped! They totally forgot to install a duct to one of the existing supply registers! One snagged duct with a hole the size of a baseball blowing air into the attic. The worst thing they did is with the new return, they put a smaller return filter register in, but with no return box! They just put a flex collar onto a piece of sheet metal directly on the filter, so only a medium sized circle in the center of filter media is used, and its noisy! Finally the leaks, the air handler is mounted in the attic horizontally with a secondary condensate pan, the air handler was not leveled correctly for proper drainage, so the condensate over flowed and went to the secondary pan; well the secondary pan wasn't level so the overflow float switch didn't switch the unit off, of coarse the client was out of town $10,000 damage! And the final leak was a refrigerant leak into the closet, there tech said it wasn't under warranty! I asked the company about the return box, they wanted $10,000, heck no!!! Con artists, no knowledge of HVAC!!

(Member name removed), We have absolutely no record of you in our database and furthermore of having ever been to your home let alone completed $25,000 worth of work there. We have been using an electronic database since 2001 and never perform any service calls for anyone that isn't entered into that database.
