my estimate was for a room addition.
Description of Work: Called and schedule Mr. Goodworth to come over and give me an estimate. He came out as scheduled did his measurements and told me that I would have an estimate within 3 business days. I still have not received the estimate as stated. That was almost two months ago. Not reliable and does not keep his word.

Description of Work: I urgently needed a small ramp extended to my front entrance. I called 4 different co. listed. One co. gave me an out- ragous qoute. He was very respectable and we felt very safe with him. he was there right on time, was very professional, honest, presentable and efficient. I am about to call him again for another project. He was very resourceful and was able to give me recommendations of individuals who also followed through.
Description of Work: I hired Don Goodworth to do several little projects around the house and also came up with an inspection in preparation to sell the home.
Everything went fantastic from start to finish. I found a few companies on Angie's List but when I read Don Goodworth's reviews and ad, I chose him because he does everything so I wouldn't have to have different people coming out. I did not call other companies for estimates. I called Don on a Monday afternoon; he came out on Tuesday to see what I needed; called me back in 2 hours with estimate; started the job at 8 am on Thursday and finished the job on Friday at 10;30. He has a partner, Jimmy, that did the painting. Can't say enough nice things about him. A pleasure to have in our home. Don is great too. As a former home instector he went around the house pointing out little things I need to do before I list the house for sale this month. Even though Ii did not have estimates to compare price, we are completely satisfied with their work. Will have them come back in a minute if I find something else I can't do myself. Great people...hire them...you won't be sorry.
Description of Work: Repaired and repainted a wall in kitchen that had been damaged by installing a new door frame.. They matched it perfectly so the whole kitchen didn't need repainted. Painted all my woodwork in kitchen and did touch up work wherever needed. Repaired water damange in closet. Did such a wonderful job can't tell it ever happened. Replaced electrical light switch in kitchen; hung a new front porch light and even knocked down all the mud dobber nests and cleaned the entrance way for me.

I was not dissatisfied with him in any way. He was just a lot higher than a friend of us that does little projects on the side, which is all we had and we didn't have a major thing. I met at the job site with him and we talked about what I wanted to have done. I was very specific describing what I wanted done. The estimate he sent me was not specific at all. He had huddled several things together that we wanted priced separately and had included things that we did not ask for. That was my problem because when I'm getting estimates, if everyone's not giving me estimates on the same thing, then it's pointless. That was my problem with that. I had to re-email him the specific list of things I wanted. He was fine on responsiveness and punctuality.
Description of Work: We did have him come out and give us an estimate. There were two different things we were having done at two different places we own. Part of the job was repairs and another part was remodeling a closet. It was general exterior homeowner repairs involving woodworking. The other part was remodeling a closet interior.

Response from Don Goodworth
Myself and crew are professional craftsmen with over a 100 years combined experience renovating plantation homes, civil war era homes, building new homes, doing numerous commercial renovations and most things in the construction industry. We feel like we're the best there is at what we do. We can't compete price wise with husbands or friends, however they can't compete with our expertise.
It was a disaster from the start. The two carpenters would make decisions regarding closet design and wall framing without consulting me. Oddly, the work would start and not be completed and in the end all this work needs to be redone. They worked limited hours each day they did show up ( 10 to 3 with a lunch was the regular hours) and not complete the various projects. In fact , the first week of work , Don took a vacation after getting a check. He just took off on Friday , Monday and Tuesday and did not even notify me. Every week I was constantly calling and texting trying to figure out if anyone was going to show up. They finally walked off the job after demanding more money while literally nothing was completed and realizing I was not going to pay up. It was a classic contractor behavior, in which the house is ripped up ,evething left incomplete and demand more money to complete the work I am having to pay a new contractor money to redo their work as well as complete the numerous incompleted projects.
Description of Work: Don Goodworth signed a contract to renovate my home in New Orleans. They stated they could install a tankless hot water heater , frame out a new bedroom , install kitchen cabinets, install new living room cabinets, install a bedroom window , tile a bathroom, fix the facia boards and gutters and siding, install two bed room cabinets, and install / replace molding. None of these projects were ever completed but all were left in various states of incompletion ( except the kitchen counters which have not even arrived yet) while they constantly demanded more and more money to complete these numerous projects. They are not licensed to install any plumbing and DO NOT work with a licensed plumbing to complete that project. So, I was mislead about their ability to complete that work which was included in their signed BID. They brought in a third party to complete the window sills because they had not even worked long enough hours to finish anything and the rain was pouring into the house from the ripped off sills.

The carpenter that he had out was very professional, polite, and did a great job. He did exactly what I asked him to do and more without charging more. He was supposed to fix a small area of the frame of the door and he just did the whole frame. He also recommended a superior product for our flooring that was at the same cost.
Description of Work: He had his carpenter put in attic flooring in two areas of our home. He also repaired the frame around our door that had rotted, and painted our shutters.

I went out and picked up the stuff so they only charged me for service. They did a good job. They came to do the work, they did it quickly, they did it right, and they were pleasant. I plan on having them come do some more work for me.
Description of Work: Don Goodworth installed a new garbage disposal and toilet.
Don was a pleasure to work with. He was extremely prompt and always prepared. He and his workers were always very professional and capable. Don's estimate was very competetive, and his work was of high quality. I would highly recommend him for any remodeling or repair work. I definitely will be calling him again!
Description of Work: Installation of a faucet in a pedestal sink and repair of a plumbing leak and replacement of the Sheetrock that was damaged by the leak. Replacement of wood siding that was destroyed by carpenter bees and woodpeckers. Also, replacement of some rotten wood siding.
The work was accomplished without problems and in a reasonable time.
Description of Work: Wallpaper removal in the kitchen, breakfast area. Repairing the sheet rock in this area as well as the master bedroom bathrooms. Painting both areas after the referenced work.
I am more than pleased with everything that Don and his crew did. His carpenter, Doug did most of the work, and he is a most exacting craftsman. Everything was finished in a month, though Don had other jobs going at the same time, and I added a few things to the original job. They cleaned up after themselves, and hauled off the trash. All of the work was done as promised and well, but the most impressive was a 'floating shelf' to hold a 48 bottle wine rack--Doug built it as a 'box', and he and Don installed it, by attaching it to studs in the wall. Wine and wine rack sit securely and happily atop this shelf.
Description of Work: Removed old Formica counter tops in the kitchen and replaced with new Formica 'granite' counter tops Removed and replaced the stainless steel sink with a composite granite one (purchased by me) Removed and replaced old faucet with new one (purchased by me) Removed (and hauled off) 2 concrete steps from side door stoop and built treated lumber railing around stoop; added 2 treated lumber steps with railing Removed and replaced side wooden door with new steel door Installed PVC gutters along front of house, with downspouts and PVC pipe extending to 2 french drains on either side of house Repaired wooden fence (was leaning inward), added new 4x4 posts, and replaced several damaged fence boards Installed 12' x 15' metal carport Had limestone delivered and spread under new carport and extending the length of the driveway Built and installed a free standing wooden shelf in the kitchen to hold 48 bottle wine rack
Don and his crew leveled the lot next door after the house was torn down, and took down the fence between the properties. They then put up an entirely new wooden privacy fence around the newly combined properties and laid a new concrete driveway, all of which was done very well. Also, someone hit our fence recently and, after they still had not made the repairsthey promised to make, we called Don and he made the repairs and did not even charge us for it. He is very professional and all of the work performed by he and his crew is top-notch.
Description of Work: Leveled property Took down old fencing New wooden fence New concrete driveway Repairs to wooden fence and structures in yard
Don and his crew were prompt, skilled, professional but friendly, willing to accommodate. Don kept after delinquent suppliers, help us find good sources for needed material. Quality excellent; price reasonable.
Description of Work: Installed granite counter-tops, new kitchen sink, new cook-top;tiled back-splash,;replaced back door;painted several rooms;repaired chimney;replaced ceiling fan;installed chandelier; repaired several flourescent fixtures
Part of the obstacles, I have with house repair are due to being a woman, living alone. and, having a busy work schedule. I was glad to find someone I could trust to come to my house and do the work, without me being there.Don, was quick to come and give me an estimate. And,took care of all the problems. I feel, He went beyond the usual responsibility. Since, the fan was old, and needed new parts. That are hard to find. He went and purchased a new fan and installed it.I won't hesitate to call him for my next job!.He was a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: I had several things my house needed taking care of. Front door had faded, needed re-finishing. House exterior needed washing. I also had a non working fan in the patio, and a large wooden gate in the back yard that was almost non usable.

Apparently, my father's roof was leaking because there was water damage to the drywall ceiling in his living room. I called Don and he came over the next day to assess the damage and give me an estimate of the repairs. He said that the roof had been punctured, possibly by a falling tree limb, and the water had leaked through the attic onto the drywall. Don arrived on the day we had scheduled and he fixed the roof and the drywall in a matter of 5-6 hours. He was on time, worked until the job was completed, and charged me the amount of the estimate. I was very please with every aspect of the encounter with Don. I would recommend him to others and I would use him again.

He is very easy to work with and he is going to come back to do more work for us. I will use him in future
Description of Work: I used Don Goodworth to install French doors a month ago.
Don came to my home on a Friday afternoon and gave me an estimate, which included the breakdown of materials, labor, and time. he then provided me a written proposal, which I signed, and provided a deposit to him to begin. He began work on Friday 2/4/11. He took meticulous measurements of the each existing step, (none of them were the same size or distance from each other) to ensure that the new steps would fit snug and tight to eliminate squeaks, and that they were equidistance apart. Because I have asthma, he offered to do the staining, painting, and varnishing at his location, so that I would not have any issues with the fumes. This involved taking all of the materials from my home to his shop in Covington, doing all of the prep work there and them bringing everything back to my home in Slidell. He worked on the materials over the weekend, and Monday he came back to complete the installation. He even worked around my last minute scheduling change that had him come in the afternoon! He took his time to make sure each step was leveled and the spacing was matched, so no more ?tripping? up the stairs. Every step was ?glued and screwed?, all holes were puttied painted, and the new stairs look fantastic! Don was Prompt, Courteous, Professional, and very easy to work with. He was very conscientious of my pets, and my furniture, ensuring that everything would be protected from any dust or debris. I would be glad to offer him a reference, and will be using him in the future on another project!
Description of Work: Don replaced carpeted stairway with hardwood treads and white birch risers, which involved cutting the bullnose off existing treads, measuring, cutting, leveling, staining and varnishing each and every tread and painting each riser to ensure a beautiful fit.

Overall, we were very satisfied with the work performed by Don. He was punctual, provided a good work product, was flexible on the repair date, and provided us a written estimate which he adhered to. We would definitely hire Don in the future.
Description of Work: We moved into a house that was missing one side of a double gate and some of the fence needed to be replaced. Don arrived on time and didn't leave until the job was done. If fact, he came back on Monday ( the work was done on Friday) to check the cement to ensure it settled correctly. Don was very flexible working with us on a date to complete the work.

It don't go all that well. The one that was framed was good. He painted the outside molding for that door. He installed two locks on the door. The second one was just a metal door with no frame. He also installed a threshold. That door did not come out well at all. There is a 3/8'' gap on one side that you can see from top to bottom, that he tried to cover up with insulation. The threshold also has a gap and you can see daylight and critters come through the bottom. He painted around the outside again, so it looks nice, but the installation wasn't great.

I also bought new trim around the inside of the door and painted it. I also purchased the new threshold out of my pocket and installed it at no charge. The slab isn't level and the door frame is the original frame. I warranty all my work all it would take is a phone call. I can't correct the slab being unlevel, the new door is square and looks great. I painted the entire door and sidelight unit gratis, and spent an extra day working on the job. I put insulation around the front door frame again at no charge to accomodate the frame not fitting properly, not to hide anything. My door was new and square and plumb. Replacing the sidelights and original door frame would have been quite expensive, I did the best that could be done with what I had to work with.

-I thought the price was all inclusive so I was a bit surprised when I was given a bill for the actual concrete adn supplies. I should ahve realized that - given the price. Recommend negotiating ALL aspects of the job and assume NOTHING. -His migrant workers cut my cable TV line FOUR different times. I had to repair it each time. -The concrete was pured in a way that resulted in a crack around 1/4 of the slab. -less than professional finishing job....LOTS of s*** and runn over. -Never followed up after he left. -Would use again but ENSURE ALL ASPECTS OF JOB ARE COVERED AND FINAL PAYMENT NOT MADE UNTIL COMPELTELY SATISFIED>

He came out and did an initial estimate for all of the work and then had his laborer come and break up the large concrete slab that was in the lot from the prior owners. After that was complete, Don and his team put the new fence up really quickly and then got the new parking slab poured. The only remaining item is installing the gate, but that delay has been on our part (due to costs of what we want). The fence and new slab look fantastic and we have gotten a lot of compliments on it since it was completed.
Description of Work: Don did a fence and parking area for our new yard and it was done really well. The price was great for the work we needed and we will definitely use him again on other projects around the home.
