Description of Work: My aunt had problems with her A/C unit. I had another company come in & tell me she needed a new condenser & coil. This company quoted me 5900.00. I called Mark & he gave me the option to keep condenser & clean it thoroughly with chemicals. He put in a new train coil and duct work. He saved me 3000.00!

Description of Work: A couple of months ago, our ice maker went out in our Whirlpool refrigerator. I called Mark and explained the problem, and he promptly called back with a price and a time of repair performance. The price he quoted was dead-on with the internet costs I had investigated. During our conversation he generously suggested a few things I could try at simple fixes while he waited for the parts to come in. I tried his suggestions out and one of them did the trick. I called him back to tell him I no longer needed his help, and he seemed as happy as I was that my problem had been solved for free. This and the several "A" ratings Mark has accrued has assured that the next time I have an appliance problem, he will be my first choice of remedy. Thanks, Mark.

Description of Work: Had my AC checked. I was told the problem was electrical and I would need to call an electrician. However I was not charged for the service call.

Description of Work: I looked on Angie's list because we needed the coils cleaned in an AC unit in the attic and we needed a couple of more electrical outlets installed in our home office. I saw that Mark Babin did both. So I called him. Mark installed the outlets in the office and cleaned the coils. Now I knew I had other AC issues, because our office is in our converted garage attached to the house, it's alway hot in there, even though I had the thermostat set to 68, but the office would be at 80, and the rest of the house was 75. But I didn't tell Mark about any of that, because it was winter, and I figured that was just how it was. I had had other AC guys come out (Alan Watts...who we paid $35K to to install 3 new units upstairs and put in new ductwork, plus two other AC guys after that). Well, Mark took it upon himself to look at the ductwork, and the ductwork was leaking cold air into the attic, small pipes were split and spliced into big pipes and the air just could not full up,the space because of the amateurish job done previously. Mark came down and told us what he saw, and told us what he could do to fix this. No one we ever had come out before wanted to diagnose the problem, fix the problem, etc. We didn't know what the problem was,actually, till Mark told us. Mark is a great explainer of AC stuff. To shorten my already long story, my house is cold, I have more accessible attic space, storage space, and he also took it upon himself to learn about central vacuums and fixed mine! It works better than when we had it installed by the manufacturer rep. ( They didnt install or vent it properly and all the vacuum crud was blowing into my attic,,thus needing to get the coils cleaned.) Mark is a smart guy, a self starter, a great explainer of things, and an all around nice guy. Out of all the people that I have had come to do various work on my house, Mark is the best one of them all. So, he installed some lights for me, put in outlets, fixed two can lights in the ceiling that never worked ( and no other electrician could get to work), re- did several hundreds of feet of ductwork and fixed the central vacuum, got ductwork off the floor of the attic and put it where it belonged. We have a geo-thermal/ heat pump system in our house, and he took part of the house off the geo-thermal and installed a Conventional Trane for the biggest part of the house. He learned about geo-thermal systems too. He was at our house for 2-3 weeks. Smart guy. It started as something small, but I am delighted to have made his acquaintance. He didn't come down from the attic and was all pushy and was trying to sell us on something, like...you need to do this. He was like...do you know you have another problem up there, and proceeded to explain what the problem was.

Description of Work: I called and got their answering machine. I never received a return phone call and did not call back. So I can not rate their work, but I believe it it very important to return phone calls. I would not consider them again.

Description of Work: He checked all circuit breakers to see which breaker was out. He finally opened up one of the restroom outlets the inside was fried to a crisp. Mark told me we were lucky it was contained because it could have started a house fire. He fixed everything that needed to be fixed. We were extremely satisfied.

Description of Work: I requested service through the email service Angie's List provides. I described the problem with my AC and provided several times that I would be available. Mark responded within 2 hours with and accept the first time I was available. He scheduled the appointment for 7:30AM. He arrived at approx 7:28AM and after introduction promptly went to work. He diagnosed the problem and explained it to me in detail. He gave me the option to just recharge the unit, which he did not recommend because he has observed the same problem with many units from this manufacturer, or replace the part. I opted for the replacement and he scheduled a time to return to complete the work. He arrived promptly and removed the part. He incited that I see the problem with the old part and then he went to the truck and obtained the new part. He patiently explained the difference in the quality of the new part. He installed the part, recharged the unit and completed the job in a short time. He explained the warranty and assured me that he is available 24/7 if I should have a problem. I don't remember ever being so confident in a service provider or in the work he provided. Mark is a very professional and personable repairman and I will use his services again and will recommend him to anyone I know who is having any problem he can address. Thanks Angie.

Description of Work: Mark arrived promptly at 7:30 AM, as promised to see if my washing machine could be repaired. Low and behold, an honest repairman!! He told me that I could buy a new washer for the price for him to repair my 10 year old washer. He then informed me that he also repairs A/C's, as well as other large appliances. Within 30 minutes, he identified the problem with my A/C and had it working like new. I would highly recommend Mark if you are looking for an honest, capable, competitively-priced repairman.

Description of Work: This application was for Gas Oven trouble-shoot and repair. The oven was not heating up to the programmed temperature. Mark diagnosed it as a sensor, it had to be ordered, it came in approx. 1-week and he scheduled the repaire within a couple of days of that. All appears to be working properly, hoping it is long term fix. Mark was good about communications, that is important to us. Good Job.

Description of Work: Real nice guy. His ratings on Angie's List were fantastic...and he's local. Could tell his business was growing upon meeting him. He seemed kind of over-extended. He was in and out. He had to get to his next job. His pricing was too high. We had a leak in our AC pan. It needed to be replaced along with a pipe. Quoted $2,500. Eventually my husband figured out how to fix it. Been over a year since my appt. He likely has help now.

Description of Work: I found Mark on Angie's List and am a very happy customer. He is fair on pricing whether it's dryer repair, electrical, or A/C work (all of which he has done for me in last 3-4 months) and does a great job explaining (if you want to know) the problem, what needs to be done in short term and also the long term. He was able to distribute the A/C more evenly in my home to rooms which were receiving very little air previously and recharged and cleaned all my units (3 central units) which resulted in them actually cooling properly. He will be back to take apart and clean all 3 outside units once remodeling is complete. The charge mentioned above includes 1# freon/unit and taking apart and cleaning the units. I highly recommend Mark - he arrives when scheduled and if he is delayed he lets you know.
