They were very professional and they did excellent work. Those guys really knew what they were doing. I would recommend them to family and friends.

We've used Cajun Electric once before for some extensive work on an older home. For that project in 2011, they were responsive and thorough. Because of that experience, we called them again to do more work (on a home we recently purchased). They were responsive in coming out to give us a quote - but when we decided that we were going to need to break the work down into smaller projects (under $1,000 at a time), we haven't heard from them. We contacted them twice to get the work scheduled. The first time we were told that they would "let us know" when the work could be scheduled. The second time we contacted them, they never responded. That's been three weeks ago. We've been waiting to have this work done for nearly three months. At this point, we will have to start over with another contractor to see about getting the work completed. Follow up: I did hear from the owner who was very apologetic for the lack of communication. Again - we found the work to be very good (see my review of them from last year) but the communication to be lacking. As you can see from the email thread that the owner posted in response to my review, I inquired on June 14 (over 3 weeks ago) if this work could be scheduled on July 11 or 12. It is now July 8, and I heard back today only after posting this review. It is very disappointing to have spent this much time on trying to get repair work done on our home. The owner indicated to me that the work was indeed scheduled. The failure obviously came with the communication. Because we never heard back from Cajun Electric (after they made it clear to me that they would let us know when it gets scheduled), we gave up and contacted another contractor.
Description of Work: Cajun Electric came to give us a quote on work to be done to our home, but never scheduled us for the work to be completed.

They are getting an F because they stole my prescription pain medication. I'm selling my house and this company was recommended by my agent. I called and spoke to a lady. She told me she would call me back with an appointment. She called back a couple of days later and scheduled the appointment. She told me Daniel and Justin would come out. The day of the service, the lady called me at work and told me they were on their way. I arrived home at 12:30 and the truck was waiting. I invited them in and showed them the inspection list I needed completed. I brought them to the garage to show them the work needed in there. One guy stayed in the garage as I brought the other back inside so he could see the work required in the attic. At that point, I sat in the living room as one guy worked inside in the attic and the other worked in the garage. The guy in the garage came in several times, through the kitchen (where the stolen meds were on the counter top) to ask the other guy questions. The guy in the attic finished and went out through the kitchen to check with the other guy, A short while later he came back in the living room to tell me they were finished. I followed the guy out the back door and they confirmed they were finished and I receive a bill in the mail. They were here about an hour. I was so impressed with how nice they were and how quickly they completed their work. I complimented them on their work. I believed it was one of my best customer service experiences. Then, about an hour after they left, I realized my large bottle of medication was missing. I always keep it in the exact same place, on the kitchen counter top. It had been there at 7 that morning. No one had access to my house except me and these two guys. When I realized the meds were gone, I had a hard time believing it at first. To be certain, I checked if I had accidentally thrown them away. I had not. I was just so disappointed that this great experience turned into such a stressful experience. I spoke to the owner and he told me he had questioned the guys and searched their vehicle. He told me there was nothing he could do. It's what I expected as why would they keep the evidence in their vehicle. To make matters worse, when I got the bill, they had charged me for two hours of work when they weren't here more than an hour. In response to the provider's response, I would suggest that you not disregard my account of what happened. These guys are the ONLY people who had access to my kitchen when my medication was stolen. I have absolutely no doubt that one of these guys stole from me. If you do hire them, you better hide your valuables. One detail I left out of the original account was that when the owner called me, he told me that he trusted one of the guys beyond reproach and that the second guy couldn't have stolen the item because the first guy had a bottle of pain pills just like the ones stolen from me and the second guy never stole his partner's medication. Sounded fishy to me. I decided not to call the police b/c what could they do? Criminals know how to get rid of evidence. It's sad the owner has resorted to personal attacks instead of dealing with this situation that his employees caused.
Description of Work: Installed an outlet in the garage for my garage door opener. Installed junction boxes to cover exposed wires. Installed box over exposed wires on light fixture in garage.

Response from Cajun Electric
I am writing in response to this client’s accusation. The details of the work done, our punctuality and customer service are accurate. The account of the missing medication is not. We did receive a call from the client following the service appointment. We listened to his detailed account of the presence of our employees on his property. We then met with each of the employees separately and questioned there actions and the actions of the other employee. Both employees seemed genuinely surprised by the accusations. We searched the vehicle and found nothing. We then contacted the client and reported our findings. We encouraged the client to contact the police department concerning the matter. We expressed that it is in our best interest to find out if a crime was committed. We certainly would not want such an employee working for our company. In response to the invoicing, the employees logged 1hr and 45mins. This includes one way travel time. Since we invoice to the nearest half hour, the client was billed for 2 hours. It is unfortunate that this client did not pursue this matter through the proper channels, as we had suggested, but instead chose to publish a slanderous and inaccurate account on Angie’s list. We would have cooperated with authorities fully in this matter. I hope that any of the Angie’s list members would please consider our many positive reviews and disregard this review submitted by someone with an, obviously, impaired memory.

I was having problems with lighting so I called Cajun Electric and explained to the gentleman who answered what my needs were, which he immediately understood. He gave me precise information as to when I'd receive a call scheduling the time for the technician and the amount charged per hour. All went as he predicted and I was quite pleased with the efficiency and professionalism of the entire experience.
Description of Work: The electrician changed out 2 damaged receptacles along with cleaning up wiring to receptacles. He also replaced flood lights and capped off other wires in front of the house that were no longer in use. He knew exactly what to do and how to do it along with understanding some larger electrical services that will be needed over the next couple weeks. I will definitely use Cajun Electric for these future services.

They did an outstanding job and I would recommend them to anyone. The showroom person was so professional and helpful. She helped us find the exact fixtures that we were looking for. The electricians were prompt, careful, polite and very professional. They were especially careful of our pets, our floors, and our furniture. They did a great job of cleaning up. The owner came out to check and ended up helping solve the outage problem. The first young man that they sent to do the outside installation was especially nice and very professional. I would HIGHLY recommend them and would absolutely use them again.
Description of Work: We had several old or broken light fixtures replaced (5 outside and 2 inside) which we purchased from them. They installed a light/fan in a bathroom (which included venting it to the outside). They changed all of our outside wiring (for spotlights) so that it was to code. They replaced 2 open bulb light pullchain fixtures in our man cave and in the pantry with new fixtures. They fixed 2 sets of switches (one for a bathroom and one for a set of ceiling fans in the keeping room) that were not working properly. They cleaned up loose wiring in both of our electric panels. Finally, they solved a puzzling problem with an outage in our garage/man cave building.

It was very positive. They were punctual and very detailed in giving the quote. The price was reasonable. They did what they said they were going to do. They worked around any other issues that came up and were very clear about addressing those issues separately or not doing them without permission. They would let me know what they saw and they said they could do it if I wanted them to. They were real good about that. The price could always be better.

They had a little mix up with the addresses and work to be performed, so they arrived about an hour and half late. Once they arrived, I informed them of the work needed and they divided out the job and they begin performing the work. Both Frank Jr. and Lee were polite, friendly, informative and courteous. They informed me what they would be doing and showed me what they were doing before they performed the work. I would highly recommend this company and they will be doing my electrical work in the future. I have already asked for another estimate on additional electrical work.

The work took an extra day and required three extra GFCIs. Adam was very professional about telling me what snags he had run into, a diagnosis of the problem, and a recommendation for how to solve it. I have an old house, so I was not surprised that more issues were found once work began. My only complaint is taht there was quite a bit of debri left around - mostly screws and nails. Other than that, they did a great job!

The overhead light in my bedroom quit working. Adam came out the same day I contacted him. He diagnosed the problem (the switch had gone bad), reinstalled the fan I had taken down to check the wires, spliced a chewed wire he found in the attic, and tightened all of the wires into my main box (several had come completely loose). He was very professional and reasonably priced.

The work was repair of 20-30 year old aluminum wire. The original work was completed, but an old aluminum wire had been stressed. It broke in the wall behind the box in which they did the work. Without charge, they removed the box. repaired the wire (not an easy task) with the proper repair kit especially for aluminum.

This was the best home repair experience I have ever encountered. From my first meeting with Adam, I had a good feeling about the companies abilities to complete the job. They were able to feed all wires through without tearing up the walls. I had one other estimate and the company told me it would be $17,500 (not including sheet rock repairs). The estimate that Adam gave me was exactly what I paid in the end.
