Zeff showed up promptly when he came to inspect and provide an estimate. At the inspection, he gave me information on the benefits of thinning the gum tree and other options for the gum tree and the reasons why. He was extremely informative. On the day of the work, Zeff and his crew showed up promptly and told me it would take about two hours for them to perform the work. His crew was amazing. They performed the work in an efficient and timely manner. They completed the work in the two hours. After they had performed all of the work, they cleaned up after themselves so there were was no debris remaining. At my request, his crew even cut some of the limbs into firewood logs for me to use during the winter.

I selected this company because of all the positive feedback on Angie's list. An appointment was made, the job scope was described, an understanding of lead times was discussed and Zefferino was able to get me an electronic web based quote within a day or so. The price was reasonable and since I was not in a hurry to get the work done, left the required completion date open ended and flexible to fit (this hour and a half job) into his schedule. 3-4 weeks passed and then the area was hit by a damaging wind storm event, which put my small job on the back burner while all the tree service companies in town addressed emergency work (totally understandable). After the dust settled, I was back on the schedule. The crew of 7 showed up with all the equipment and within less than an hour, the job was completed and the crew focused on cleanup and were gone. I had a couple of stumps that were located by an underground utility and those were address a week or so later (after being marked). The crew was very professional, hard working and quick. Their equipment was in excellent condition. The overall process seemed to take longer than I expected, but I blame myself for leaving it open ended and flexible (and mother nature). The invoice transaction was simple and handled via e-mail and web based pay portal. Overall, very positive experience and would recommend to others.

The owner Zefferino came out and gave me an estimate on the removal of a 75' water oak. The other estimate I received was much higher, and the owner has an advanced degree in Urban Forestry, so I felt comfortable regarding his level of knowledge. A big crew came out the day off, and took the whole tree down. They chipped and hauled most of it that day but came back the following day to remove large remnants of the trunk. Everything was done in a timely and professional manner, I would recommend this business.

Zefferino and the Biggz team are tree surgery ninjas. We have an old Bradford Pear tree that had a bunch of dangerous limbs, one of which was leaning against a fragile roof dormer. At the initial consultation, Zefferino sized up the pear tree and all of the other problem trees in the yard and gave very reasonable cost estimates for each item on the spot. On the day of the job, he showed up with a full team exactly on time and finished the job exactly as promised. Zefferino communicated every step of the process and every cost to the penny. In addition, he was extremely courteous and considerate in communicating with our neighbors. From start to finish, this was a very nice experience.

When I contacted Zefferino, the owner, he was very professional. We sent an appointment and he showed on time. We walked my yard and I told him what I wanted. He suggested waiting a couple of weeks because one tree was starting to leaf out and he didn't want to cause damage to that tree. We set the appointment for 2 weeks away. I called to check with him the day before the appointment because of the weather--I didn't know if he was going to do the job. He said they could start early to beat the weather. He said he would be there at 6:45 AM and he and his crew were very prompt. They waited until 7 am to start the chain saws and within 3 hours, 7 men completed the job. The 4 trees were at least 50 feet high and 60-75 feet across. They did not disturb the shrubs and small orange trees I had in the yard. When they completed the job and started picking up, my wife and I decided to remove a couple more branches. They got the saws out and took care of the request with no fuss. We were VERY pleased with the condition in which they left the yard. I would definitely hire this crew again!

Mr. Zefferino VonKurnatowski, the business owner, visited the property in December and took his time to examine the trees and help evaluate risks, as the purpose was risk reduction. We walked around the trees, he assessed the trees' health, and made sure he would understand our risk tolerance and take into account neighbor's concerns about possible hazard caused by the bigger tree. He carefully explained and I learned a lot about my trees during this visit, sharing Zefferino's passion for beautiful trees. The estimate was communicated the following day. We agreed on the work to be done in January and scheduled around my traveling. Work had to be rescheduled once due to weather, but was performed as finally scheduled. On the due date, Mr. VonKurnatowski toured again the trees with me and his foreman, and the work was dutifully done by a very well coordinated crew. It was decided not to use the bucket, as the truck would have had to use the neighbor's driveway and fears had been expressed that damage might be caused. This was done at no extra cost. The number of trucks and machinery sent to the site was impressive, but the most impressive part was the ballet of tree men operating up and down the trees and the masterful coordination of the work. The outcome is impeccable. The trees have been re-balanced and look harmonious, to our full satisfaction. There was no sign of the visit of a big crew, the site was left impeccable, and not a shrub was damaged. We will call on you again in the future and warmly recommend Biggz Professional Tree Care.

The crew that arrived the day of the work conducted themselves in a very professional manner. Zefferino was there to meet with the foreman and go over the job. The work was done very well and I am extremely satisfied with the results.

This is the third and best tree service that I've used over the years. Competitively priced, a pleasure to work with, skilled, efficient, attention to detail/cleanup and fully insured. The owner, foreman, and individual workers were accommodating and pleasant. Many companies advertise that they are fully insured, but upon inspection they generally have only liability (property damage). Many companies with workman's comp are very pricey. Generally I can tell if a company has good liability and workman's comp; they are almost double of those without good insurance. Initially I couldn't tell based on Biggz's estimate, they are truly competitively priced. It is the customer's responsibility to request insurance certificates made out in their name (not the contractor's) before work begins to be fully protected. This is true for ANY TYPE OF CONTRACTOR doing work on your property. Reputable companies such as Biggz have no problem with this request. Based on several estimates, Biggz was only slightly higher than the 'cowboys' with little or no workman's comp and definitely beat the price on other fully insured companies. Generally all tree services will give a better price in the 'off season' (after hurricane season and before Spring) and if you can have nearby neighbors also schedule work at the same time as a package deal. We had three adjoining neighbors with a total of 13 trees removed and 21 stumps ground. I am especially impressed with the full crew and amount of equipment used by Biggz. At one point they had crews working on 3 different trees that were a safe distance apart, it looked like a Pacman project. They approached the job with emphasis on safety, planning, and minimizing yard scaring before they began. Some trees were large and difficult to access, some easy to take down. They began work promptly at 7:00 am and finished, including cleanup, around 3:00 pm. The debris removal truck showed up about an hour before all work was completed. Expect to wait for work day during the busy season because this company doesn't schedule simultaneous jobs and they are in demand, that's why they finish your job so quickly. A neighbor had 7 or 8 trees removed last summer and had the same efficient work performed, finished up between 3 - 4 pm. Bottom line - top notch operation, great job, money well spent.

Mr. Zefferino realized that the crane needed to service my yard, the neighbor immediately behind me and the neighbor adjacent to my back neighbor was going to require servicing which meant job delay. He moved up the job date to prevent an additional delay of one to two weeks for which I was grateful. He and his full crew appeared on January 14th. All of my trees were cut. My pecan tree, a water oak and gum tree were hauled over my back fence by crane. Larger portions remaining on the ground were removed by bobcat to my front ditch and picked up the same day. The crew did an excellent cleanup of my yard with rakes, garbage can and blower. January the 15th it rained. The next day, the foreman and a worker came back to grind the stumps and repair a section of cracked concrete. The grinding was done with all grindings mounded neatly. Ruts in the yard were raked over. Watching this crew inn action was a prime example of a well-oiled-professional machine. Men were in three trees working at one time. No wasted effort was present and all workers exhibited a positive can-do attitude. I had previously used this company last year. The neighbors were impressed to the point that two other jobs were performed for them on the same day. Dealing was this company was a pleasure with my money being well spent. I would not hesitate to use this company again.

Everything went well and the crew worked really fast. There was some concern by my neighbor as the crew was dropping some of the larger pieces of limbs over and on her house. For the next time, I will know to ask specifically which limbs will be cut to have better idea of what to expect at the end of the work. When the crew finished up, there was one particular limb that wasn't cut that I assumed would be; so, Zefferino called, said he came by to look at the limb, and reassured that it should not be a problem.

At the last minute my home owners insurance refused to renew our policy unless we removed a limb that was hanging over our house. I called Zeff and explained the situation and he went out of his way to work us in on the limited time table. He and his crew showed up on time, did excellent work, and most importantly cleaned up afterwards. They did such a great job cleaning up that my fianc?e didn't even know they had been there. If we are ever in need of a tree service, Zeff will be my first call.

With three large live oak trees in my back yard, several limbs of foliage were resting on my roof. BiggZ removed all the offending limbs with efficiency and professionalism. I am 100% satisfied with the work done along with the price. I will use BiggZ again in the future and recommend this company to anyone needing this service. It was pretty incredible to see these guys in action. Superior! They were very efficient, a quality I greatly admire. Don't have any hesitation to hire this company if you need work done. There was a slight hiccup with a neighbor who thought I was removing her trees, but I had the property surveyed prior to the work being performed. She contacted the Horticulture Commission to make sure the work was being performed by a company that was properly licensed,,,,, AND she contacted the local police... Guess what? I like doing things the right way and I like to hire people with the same philosophy. Even with visits from the Horticulture Commission and the local law enforcement, ithe work crew finished up both job sites in under 2 and half hours. Thanks so much for a job well done!

I submitted a request for an estimate on the Biggz website, and Zefferino called me within a couple of days to set up a date to look at the tree. He was on time and asked me my preferences and then walked me through how they could trim the tree in a manner that would remove the hazardous contact with my neighbor's electricity feed, the cable and the phone lines while allowing some major branches to continue to grow between the spaces without sending sprouts back up into the lines. Entergy had already trimmed away from the high voltage lines, so the limbs were far enough away to be safe for his crew. He also answered my random questions about tree health. He provided a quote via e-mail, and to accept the proposal, I simply clicked through to their website. He is very busy (all those A reviews on Angie's List, I suppose), and I found that he responds to texts much faster than leaving phone message at the office. The large crew arrived 15 minutes early. Zefferino showed the crew supervisor what to do and then left. The crew was very fast and efficient and didn't even need a single ladder - two men were hoisted up into the tree and cut the branches from inside the tree canopy. The crew removed the limbs and ran them through the wood chipper and hauled it all off. They picked up the branches that fell into my fussy neighbor's yard too. I thought it was a nice touch that they used a leaf blower to pick up the fallen leaves at the end. They finished the work in about 2 hours.

Biggz Tree Services is top notch. The owner met with me twice at my house to discuss scope and pricing, and also arranged for the crane operator to visit my property before providing a quote. Out of four different quotes, I chose Biggz based on their price and the thoroughness of their proposal. This was a big job: 6 very large trees and another 6 or so medium sized trees. A crew of about 7 guys showed up at 6:30 a.m. on the scheduled date and worked all day until the trees were down. The six largest trees were near either my house or my neighbor's house, and I was concerned about possible damage to the houses during tree removals. There was no need - the crane operator and the tree climber were an incredible team. Working from the tops down, they tied off sections of trees, cut them and swung them out safely away from the houses, where chain saw crews cut them into smaller pieces for chipping or hauling away. It went off without a hitch. Had a chance to talk with some of the crew during the day, and all were very friendly. After the haul off was complete the next day, the owner came back and ground all the stumps himself. I really appreciate that he kept in touch by phone and email during the entire process, letting me know when work would take place and what to expect next. I can't speak highly enough of Biggz! I will gladly recommend them to any friends or family needing tree work.

I sought estimates from several local arborists. This company gave neither the least nor most expensive quote - but was certainly worth the amount charged. I didn't select the less expensive services because, well, they didn't present as competent or knowledgeable about the tasks we requested. Also, for some reason some arborists don't seem to have the proper equipment to grind stumps?? The more expensive quotes were literally twice as much for the exact same scope of work. Cost aside, I am very happy with the pruning of the large oaks. They now frame our house beautifully and are less likely to fall on us in a storm. I honestly didn't expect much care to be taken in how the trees would end up looking over our roof. But the owner stopped by to check up on a first pass pruning by his crew and had a team come out a couple days later to clean up their work - and now the framing looks great. (I'm sure risk reduction was the ultimate goal but all that really matters to me is how our house looks from the street!) This company sent out a large and fast crew. I couldn't believe how fast everything was completed - I would imagine that this is where some of the cost arises and it is money well spent.

During a lightening storm in June, a huge (4-5 feet in diameter and 65' tall) pecan tree in the yard was hit, splitting it in half, with the top 1/2 of the tree falling over a fence between our home and the neighbor's. I called Zefferino the day after the tree was hit. He came over the next day to assess the situation and found space to get us worked in. The work was done on time, just as stated. His workers are the most dedicated, professional team I've ever seen in handling the downing of trees. The stump was ground and every bit of debris was raked up and all debris removed from our property. The driveway was blown to get rid of the left over tree debris. Located very near our bedroom, this enormous tree presented an extra challenge to the BIGGZ team. As they've done before on previous work done in our yard, the team assessed the tree's lean angle and the best approach to safely taking it down. Using only the best cranes and bucket lifts, and the most expert tree climbers, the job was done quickly and efficiently. I have used "Zeff" in the past, and will only allow he and his team of highly skilled workers top handle my trees.....and I have dozens of them. I have also referred him to friends and, after a referral to our neighborhood Civic Association, he is the now the "go to" tree contractor for our subdivision. We are in Hurricane Season in Louisiana. Trees come down in hurricanes. There will also be a bunch of "fly by night" tree operators who follow the storms (remember GUSTAV!) offering their services. By and large, they are not licensed or insured, and what you pay for is not what you get. The majority of them cannot claim Baton Rouge as their home. BIGGZ Professional Tree Care, LLC, is Baton Rouge-based and led by Zefferino von Kurnatowski, a licensed Arborist. He is the best in the Capital City and is here to stay.

A total of eight men performed the job with seven on the ground and one in the bucket. They use a very large mulcher capable of handling eighteen inch trees on site. They come well equipped and are greatly motivated workers. It was very impressive to watch all the activity of very enthusiatic workers with each doing their own task in complete coordination. The result was that the all the trees came down in the morning, the large portions of trunks removed from my ditch early the afternoon of the same day and the grinding of stumps taking place the same afternoon. Mr. vonKurnatowski was a pleasure to deal with and very professional in all respects. His foreman had been with him four years and appeared to be a very capable person. While you may have a wait to obtain his services, it is a very worthwhile for you to do so. Please note the price included the use of a 5% Angie's list coupon.

He responded quickly to our inquiry, came out and looked at the job, and gave us an estimate -- and made sure to show us his certifications, license, and insurance. Not the very cheapest estimate we received but he seemed the most professional, which we judged more important. He and his crew showed up when they said they would and did all the work in an efficient manner and in an amazingly short amount of time. They were careful with the other landscaping, caused absolutely zero damage, and tidied up thoroughly after themselves. And the price he quoted was exactly what we paid -- no "Oh, I forgot" add-ons. Zefferino has an excellent attitude and I will have no hesitation in calling on him for tree care in the future.

On my elderly mother's behalf, I had called another company to take care of 3 huge pines infested with pine beetles. They never called me back. Called Biggz and was called back promptly. Zefferino gave my mom a very good estimate. Because the trees were at the very edge of her property, they had to access her neighbor's yard also. They brought in a crane and did the work quickly and efficiently, with no damage to the neighbor's property or to my mom's. It was easy to contact them, they worked precisely and quickly with no collateral damage, did a good job of cleaning up, and all for a good price. Great job! Because this was done a few years ago, I don't remember how much they charged, but it was very reasonable and worth every penny. I was impressed and would not hesitate to recommend them to others, and to hire them again myself
