Very nice gentlemen and easy to schedule work. The work completed was done very well and the textured sections match the rest of the ceiling. The only minor issue was that they did not put up a negative seal to protect the office equipmnet in next room. I asked and the repairrman and he glady put one up before the work started.
Description of Work: Replaced a section of the celing, repired corner cracks and one seam. Texured ceiling and paint ready for the walls.

The owner came out on December 4 to drywall a hole left in the kitchen ceiling from the relocation of a ceiling light fixture. He also repaired damaged drywall in a wall of the kitchen and a bedroom. Although not part of the estimate, he noticed there was space between the kitchen walls and the ceiling and caulked/repaired that. When he took a closer look at the damaged ceiling drywall in the living room, he recommended repacing a section of the drywall that had obviously become water damaged and showing slight bowing in the drywall. I pointed out a similar situation in the room used as an office. I agreed to his returning on December 9 to replace those sections of ceiling drywall because he had done an excellent job so far. The owner was precise and careful to clean up after himself and showed a lot of professional pride in his work. When he returned on Dec 9, he brought along another worker. We had agreed upon his starting the job at 10:00 AM. However, he did not show up until 11:00 AM. The owner replaced the drywall section in the living room and the worker replaced the drywall in the office, which was a little challenging because the damaged drywall was above a tall wall unit. While the drywall sections were being replaced, I left to run an errand. When I returned the owner was gone and the worker was finishing up replacement of the drywall in the office. After that he was to put QuickSet on the replaced drywall and put the drywall mud up so it could be stamped. The worker kept receiving phone calls on his cell phone and seemed to be getting off track of the job. At about 4:30 PM, he still had not put the QuickSet on the drywall or started mudding the sections. I called the owner and told him that I was concerned that they were going to finish the job that day and I didn't want to have to take another day off from work for them to finish. The owner returned to my house and within an hour the two had put the QuickSet on both sections of the drywall, mudded those sections and the section in the kitchen and stamped the design. By 6:00 PM, they had cleaned up the debris. After they left, I did further cleaning and noticed that the hems of my window covering had a chalky material on them and I had to wash the panels. I'm not sure how they got the chalky material on them since the owner had removed them and placed them on the couch before starting the job. I would hire this company again but would insist on the owner doing the work or having someone with a better work ethic to help him out. I think that the phone calls distracted the worker from his job.
Description of Work: Replaced ceiling drywall in kitchen, living room and office. Applied drywall mud and stamped designs on affected areas. Repaired wall drywall in kitchen and a bedroom.

Overall it went great. See above.
Description of Work: My front porch ceiling had become warpped due to age and a leak in one corner. It was bead board and I preferred to keep the original type of material, if financially possible. Steve gave me two estimates, one using bead board and the other panel board. The estimate for bead board seemed reasonable I decided to use that. The crew showed up as scheduled. Removed the old ceiling and trim; they were careful enough so the old trim could be re-used. While the old board was being removed Steve went to buy the new board and paint. The new ceiling was put up quickly and a primer coat of paint was applied. The crew cleaned up the work site and hauled away all materials. Two days later they came back and painted the ceiling and re-installed the ceiling light. Steve would not accept payment until the work was complete and I was satisfied.

Description of Work: I would like to have used this business because they get some good reviews, however, mr. Hobbs called to schedule an appointment and took down my information but did not show up at all. He did not even call, so this shows like of professionalism and lack of courtesy.

The business owner, Steve, and a business associate both showed up on time to complete an estimate. They were both professional, easy to communicate with and gave me a prompt, written estimate of the work. After they left, Steve even called back to revise the offer to include at 10% discount for using Angie's list that I forgot to ask him about during the estimate visit. Based on their reputation from Angie's list reviews, the demonstrated professionalism during the estimating process and the price (almost 1/3 less than the highest estimate), I selected A Personal Touch to do the work. We arranged a start date within a week of me following up on the estimate. The work took about seven days to complete with a couple of off-days in the middle. Steve was personally here and gave direct instructions to his team for more than 50% of the work effort. They made an effort to keep the carpets clean between the path from the front door to the upstairs. On the first day, he notified me that he had underestimated the insulation cost. He brought this to my attention privately and before purchasing the insulation. We agreed on a price adjustment and he brought me the reciept to show me exactly what the cost of insulation was. The difference between the estimate and the actual cost was exactly what we discussed. After inspecting the insulation installation on the second day, I noticed that there was a problem with how the insulation was being installed that would interfere with the ventilation scheme. I brought this to Steve's attention and he corrected the problem. I realized midway through the job that I had forgotten to include two small closets in the estimating process. Steve agreed to complete this additional, unplanned work as part of the job with a modest increase in the estimated price that corresponded to the additional square footage. The work team showed up when they said they would within an hour or so. If Steve anticipated any lateness, he would call and let me know, and we would agree on an alternate time. The drywall, finishing and sanding was done very professionally and the finished quality is what I would have expected. There were two drywall edges that were still exposed at the end of the job but this will be corrected with the trim work (not part of this job). I also did not take this up with Steve during the final walkthrough. The final walkthrough with Steve, I pointed out a couple of areas that needed a little more sanding and he completed the additional sanding. The hardwood floors were a little more messy than I expected with drywall dust, but, again, I did not take this up with Steve and don't think it was out the realm of normal. Overall, I was impressed with the value of the services rendered and the professionalism of A Personal Touch. I would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: We are in the process of remodeling our partially finished attic into usable modern living space. After receiving a total of three estimates from three service providers, A Personal Touch was contracted to 1) increase the height of the ceiling supports so that the space would qualify as square footage; 2) install insulation in the ceiling; and 3) drywall and finish a) the ceiling and angled areas connecting to the sidewalls, b) three upstairs closets and c) the stairwell walls.

Please see above.
Description of Work: I called Steve, based on the favorable reviews found on Angie's List. He seemed hurried on the phone, but was able to quickly schedule an estimate for the next day. I found this to be very responsive, and was encouraged. Unfortunately, he never showed. I waited, and I waited. He never called. I have not heard from him since. I did not call to ask about the missed appointment; he had my name, phone number, and address. Maybe he is an excellent contractor and this was an oversight, an honest mistake; maybe he has enough business already; but I might suggest taking this into consideration when looking for a contractor.

The door was slightly a different color but ok. They ran into some problems with the floor so it took longer to remove. The only problem that i really had is that the clean up was not the best. I am still finding pieces of tile in the basement

The original start date had to be delayed when the contractor's drywaller ended up in an accident. But the contractor kept very good communication with us and rescheduled as quickly as he could safely do, taking his drywaller's injuries into account. The contractor and the drywaller completed the project within 2 days, even though they had to tape, mud, and sand a large master bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a foyer/entry wall outside the room.
Description of Work: This contractor completed a drywall project that was begun by the homeowners. The homeowners were converting a family room into a master bedroom with a new closet and new entry. The homeowners hung the drywall but did not have the skill or time to finish: tape, mud, and final sanding, as well as corner work. This contractor came in and completed the project in less than 2 full days at an incredibly competitive price.

They did a great job. I told Steve to just fit us in when he could, and he was great about phoning and letting us know when he'd be by. We have a special antique (decorative) screen door, and he had to remove the trim to replace the screen. He painted both our doors and touched up a bunch of exterior trim as well. Steve is a great all-around guy, and we usually put together a "wish list" of things that need fixing. He always lets us know when he can get the work done, and he has never let us down!

I decided to get a quote from Steve - Personal Touch based on an Angie's List review. The quote came in below another I got and Steve had some good ideas about the remodelling / soundproofing I wanted done in my detached garage so I went with him. All the work was done extremely well, everyone he had work with him were very friendly and they worked long hours to get it done. I am extremely happy with the finished garage and would definitely use the Personal Touch for future projects and will be recommending him to my friends. THANKS AGAIN STEVE!

We have used Steve Hobbs on and off for the last seven years. This project, as we expected, was done well and on time. We were very impressed with his staff's work ethic, as they stayed well past 5pm and came on the weekend (with our permission). They handled small changes without complaint and completed some "handyman" chores around the house for a small extra fee. They were professional, hard-working and cheerful. Their price came in much less than other companies, and we do not think we got a lesser product for the price.
Description of Work: Remodeled our basement. Put in walls, tiled bathroom floor, painted walls and concrete floor, had to do some basic electrical and plumbing work, moved furniture in for us.
