Hancock Landscape

It was great. They were on time and very friendly even though they said it was one of their smaller jobs. I even got a 5% discount.

We have been working with Todd Hancock and Hancock Landscape for the last 2-3 years to keep yard and landscaping looking great. We bought our first home in the St. Matthews area 4 years ago and learned quickly that our yard and landscape suffered with our dual-career lives. We enjoy yardwork, but we found we didn't have the time to do it right. After being dissatisfied with another provider in the past, we found Hancock Landscape here on Angie's List. He promptly gave us a fair estimate and answered all of our questions. We ended up choosing his company to do a big (to us) landscape project in the front of our house, adding a brick landscape wall, removing bushes we didn't like, and planting a few we did. He also mulched around our back tree and shed. Overall, this cost around $2500. When he and his crew were done, we were amazed. Our yard had been transformed and looked like we had always wanted it to be. Since then, we've gone back to these guys time and again for seasonal trimming and clean up, removing old much and replacing with new, and taking care of any other projects we have. I feel terrible that we haven't written a review until now, but there's no time like the present! Most recently, we put our house on the market and Todd made sure everything on the outside looked amazing for potential buyers. We received an offer on the first day and now we'll be closing soon. We appreciate everything these guys have done for us over the years!

Todd and his associates were very professional, on-time, and friendly. They cleaned up well after themselves and the quality of work was exceptional. I am very happy with the results of my new front yard landscaping.

They were there on time and did the work as promised. They are very cooperative and clean up after themselves. Our place looked great when they left. They have worked for us for us several years now.

The services I need are related to drainage, re-grading, and a retaining wall. I researched Angie's List and found Hancock Landscape. They listed retaining walls as a provided service. I called them that day and left a message. Todd hancock called me back a few hours later. While talking to him, I described the scope of work I needed done to see if his company could provide. It included creating french draining to alleviate standing water, re-grading a severe slope in the backyard leading down to an MSD drain path that runs along the side of my house, and building a retaining wall along the re-graded area. Todd asked me how severe the grade was. I told him that it was goes down 4 ft within a span of 6 ft. We then set up an appointment for the following week for him to take a look at it. After the appointment today, I definitely got the impression that he never intended to do the job. When I walked him around to the backyard, he awkwardly stood on the other side of my 3 ft fence and I had to ask him to come in so he could see the slope. He then proceeded to tell me that I was asking for a very big job that would add no value to the house and I should only consider doing it if I was intending the live in the house for the rest of my life. Those comments were unneccesary, unwarranted, and out of his field of expertise. Frankly, I'll spend my money how I desire and I would've called a realtor if I wanted advice on home value. He then proceeded to take a measurement of the slope depth (2.5 feet at that location) to prove to me how large the work would be. I think I understood the scope of work that I myself had previously described and was currently describing to him! Plus the job is just adding multiple loads of dirt/gravel and building a retaining wall to keep it in. Not that complicated! Then proceeded to say that he did not have the equipment to do the job. He could've told me this when I described the work on the phone. And he didn't have to imply that the work was nonsensical (not to me!) before stating he couldn't do the work. And then while leaving, he didn't even offer to do the french draining nor show me examples of landscaping (which I had been all ripped out). The consult lasted about 10 minutes. The only good thing I got out of it was his advice to look at construction companies and to confer with Louisville MSD.

Todd came out to do an estimate and talk over the job. I made a down payment and the work was done within a few weeks, somewhat delayed by weather.

Found them here, contacted a number of companies, they were most responsive, did nice work, cleaned up well. A good experience.

Please do yourself a favor and call Todd Hancock for your landscaping needs. I know you may feel the need to get several estimates, especially for large projects. However, you may just be wasting time and, more importantly, money. I called several landscaping companies listed on Angie's List last spring/ summer. I even hired one, being lured in by The Coupon King's Big Deal, and wasted a chunk of money and much time. I had called Todd early in the season, but unfortunately, I went with this other company--AT FIRST (lure of the coupon). After realizing my mistake, I contacted Todd again and, within a day or two, he came to give me another estimate. He lives nearby, very handy. He listened to what I wanted and made great suggestions. He is well educated in this field and really knows what he is doing. We fine tuned my original wish list and added in more weeding due to the lack of satisfactory work from the coupon company. After the planting, I changed my mind about one type of bush. He quickly came up with a replacement idea and switched out the plants that same day. Todd is extremely professional. He actually shows up on time for scheduled appointments, takes a hands on approach working with his crew when necessary, and ensures the complete satisfaction of his customer--THIS customer and from reading his reviews, ALL of his customers. If you do read Todd's reviews, you will see how happy his clients are (highest number of A reviews). Hopefully, you will soon be able to add yourself to this list. I have already told Todd that I plan on hiring him for more work in the spring. That shows how satisfied I am.

Todd did a great job. The price was very reasonable and the work was completed ahead of schedule.

Todd's work was first rate; he was responsive at all times and very easy to work with. He gave us both cost and time estimates so we could plan ahead, and kept us up to date throughout the process. His team kept hte property tidy during the time that the work was underway and, despite heavy rains in the middle of teh work, left the access areas neat and clean, as if they'd never been trod over to get to the worksite. He was a true pleasure to work with, and both we and our neighbors love the new backyard!

I called Todd because I saw that he had a great reputation on Angie's List and the best part was he was located on the same street I live on. I insist on supporting the local community! I called him and he came to my house within hours to assess the situation and give me an estimate. Todd arrived and took detailed measurements and pictures of the house and told me that he would work up a plan and present it to me soon. A couple of days later, I met with Todd and he showed me his diagram of my new landscaping and also brought his laptop to show me examples of the plants and trees he was planning on planting for me. Even though his original price was a little higher than I was able to pay due to the high quality items he was going to plant, he worked with me to devise a plan that would fit within my budget and still be better than the mediocre items you can purchase at the local home improvement stores. The work was completed in two days and Todd was present with the crew the entire way. I'm very satisfied with the finished product and I will use this company to complete all my future landscaping projects.

Todd Hancock has taken care of my lawn care for several years. I've had others in the past, and while they quoted lower prices, they were not as reliable and did not do the job that Hancock Landscape did. I would recommend Todd Hancock and his company to anyone.

everything went great. Todd hancock met with me at 630 a.m. on a Sunday morning. that was the most convenient time for me and it was very nice that he came at a time that was good for me. Todd is a professional in every way. he is a no nonsense guy who promises a professional job and delivers that. They arrived at our home each time they said they would and did exactly what they said they would do. I thought, at first, that the number of plants was a little low, but I am so glad we went with his recommendations because the plants are really beautiful and seem very high quality. His price was lower than one other place I talked to by about $800. If you have the money, you won't regret hiring hancock. I could reach him before and after the project with any questions I had. We will be using Todd each year from now on for trimming and spring clean up.

Although not extensive we contracted with Hancock Landscape to provide some light spring readiness at our office. They trimmed bushes and applied new mulch. They were professional to work with and met the budget and deadlines we agreed on. I would recommend them!

Todd Hancock responded promptly to my inquiry, set and kept our appointment. I was upfront about the time I could allow for the appointment, and he respected my time. I feel like he really listened to what I liked and didn't like about my yard and plants. He offered ideas and thoroughly discussed mine. Todd was very clear with me about time frames, explicit about costs and communicated well with me throughout. I won't hesitate to seek his help again or to recommend him to others. I am really pleased with how everything looks, and I know Todd Hancock will respond well if any of the plants should fail or if I have any questions, because he told me he would!

We had a very good experience. What we really liked:- We felt the plant selection was unique based on other designs we recieved.- The plant size and age was optimal for our house; large enough to make an immediate impact and young enough to allow us to shape as needed- The work was performed in the window of time they specified when they quoted the work. (That's more challenging than you think)- The team was polite, professional, and fast. We worked with Todd, whom I felt was very responsive. He would usually get back with me within a day as we were discussing the work, two days maximum.

The owner, Todd Hancock, was courteous and gave me some wonderful ideas. He was knowledgeable about what would look beautiful and still endure the heat and wear & tear of everyday living. His crew started on the job the next day and was completed the next day with superior results, I know that he will be avaiable with any questions I may have in the future. I have now found a landscaper who I exclusively will use from now on. By the way, the crew cleaned up well after themselves, were also courteous, and left my yard looking gorgeous.

y Todd came and went over my desires and came up with a plan for this piece of yard. He told me that he looks for quality plants that are going to do well in the area but also considers the cost of those plants. He was honest with their availability and wanted to make sure that would not be an issue. I had Todd look over a previous job for which he was open that was not something he could take on because it involved areas outside of his expertise. This honesty encouraged me to contact him for this job--which is what his business does. Todd was very good at communicating when he would be arriving for any appointments or adjustments to that schedule, with the exception of his crew's last time at our house. It worked out and I talked to him about it. After Todd came up with a plan, he presented it to me with pictures of the plants he would use. He adjusted those plans when I said I did not like a plant. As soon as we decided to use his company and submitted out initial payment, we were placed on the schedule (about two weeks out, depending on weather, of course). The crew came and worked hard. Each time they came and when they were leaving the yard for lunch or something like that, they always cleaned up the area. The yard looks beautiful. Follow-up: Todd responded to the dying plant. I sent him photos of the plant and he came by to inspect as soon as he was able. Within a week, he replaced not only that plant but its mate so they would be approximately the same size. He also checked to make sure the soil and location were acceptable for this which they were. He did not charge me for any of this and said that it just happens sometimes that a plant does not like the transplanting process. I was very pleased with how he stood behind his work.

Todd came multiple times, including on date(s) of service. Competitive pricing, very professional and personable. Would highly recommend.

The install was high quality as was the quality of the Kichler LED lighting fixtures. It was a bit more expensive to go with the LED lighting but given the savings in electricity, the 15 yr warranty on the Kichler lighting and less maintenance in the future, I went with the initial higher cost in hopes of savings in the future. Todd did a great job with the lighting layout/design as well as the installation. He is a great guy and I enjoy working with him on the landscape projects.

Todd came out and spoke with me personally, suggested plantings and showed me picture on the internet. He explained what and why certain planting should be incertain areas. I explained to him what I liked and did not like. We like a landscape that looks good and green all year round. He provided me with a written estimate, drawn pland and a timeframe of completion. After acceptance it all happened, and was completed within the timframe. A small downpayment was provided initially and the balance paid upon competion.

Called and left a message with the company. Mr. Hancock called back the next morning and left a message for me to call him back, which I did call back and leave another message. As of April 23 he still has not returned my call. I would never use this company or ever call them again.

I had already used Todd and team in my front landscape and decided to revitalize the rear yard as well. Todd worked with us on a great plan. Todd was flexible and creative as we requested some last minute changes to some key plantings and plant placements. I highly recommend him as he goes out of his way to make sure that we are happy and getting the results we desire. You will enjoy working with Todd and the team.

Todd and his team did an excellent job in removing the old landscape and installing the new. The plant sizes were impressive. Not the type and variety of plants you will find at Home Depot, Lowes and many garden centers. High quality and nice size. They took their time to make sure the job was done right. Even during the installation we made a couple of modifications to the original plant selection and numbers of plants for select areas. My wife are extremely pleased. I look forward to the spring to see how the colors Todd suggested come to life. I highly recommend you give Todd a call if you are in the market for new landscape. He is responsive and always calls before coming and keeping us posted on what to expect regarding when the team will be there and to make sure we are satisfied with the job. While he has his design ideas, he also wants to make sure that the final job aligns with your tastes as well. We will be working with him more in the future.
