Premium next-day service. 5-year parts, 30-day labor warranties. Full, comprehensive care for your appliances from professional, well-trained service representatives.
I bought a condo and the appliances were G.E. When I called a handyman to come fix them, they came and did a low-quality job. They did the minimum work to be done to be covered by warranty. They worked on my fridge that was less than a year old and temporarily fixed the problem. However, they didn't fix the problem the first time they came out and they had to come out and do it again. I will still by G.E. appliances in the future, but I will be wary of the service that comes with them.
Description of Work: I had a serviceman come to look at the G.E. appliances in my condo.

We had spoken to GE about the washer we bought in 2007. We had a warranty with a home improvement store, but we did not feel that a machine that cost as much as this one should be having problems with rusting and cycle issues. The filter had to be cleaned so often that we left the front off of the machine. We were actually considering asking for a full refund. GE called us a couple of times to summarize what our issues were, and decided to send a technician. We thought that, as a courtesy, they were going to come out and just take a look at the issues. I could not be there, but told my granddaughter the issues and she was there. The technician (#126 54 0285) was exceptionally rude to her, scolding her for there being things in pockets when the washer was run. Anyone with common sense knows that a washer should not be run with items other than clothes in it, but who has not done so? He continued to be rude throughout his visit. He told my granddaughter that we should sand and paint the rust. What?! We should sand and paint a washing machine that we paid a lot of money for. What kind of advice was this? My wife came home from a dental appointment prior to his leaving, and he continued to be rude to her. He then presented us with a bill. This was not what we had bargained for. We had a warranty but he said that that warranty was with the home improvement store and not them. If I had had any idea when GE set up this appointment that this was a charged call, I would have not allowed it. He did nothing more during his visit than what we had been doing all along, he cleaned out the drain filter. So, we ended up paying an $85 bill for what we had been doing all along and for a lesson in how not to be a service technician. We are left with the same issues with our washer, $85 less, and a bad taste in our mouth for GE products.
Description of Work: A GE technician came out and cleaned out the drain filter in our washer.

The machine made strange noises from day one. Then, it made a very loud noise and quit working, two weeks after purchase. The GE repairman came out to look at the machine. He was unable to fix it and uncertain of the diagnosis. I called GE and was told that they ordered a part on December 3. Today, December 15, I was told that the part they needed to make the repair was on back order. A warranty on a machine that doesn't work is useless. GE is refusing to give me a new machine as requested. I feel this machine should be considered 'dead on arrival' and a new machine should be issued. I can see GE needing bail out money in the future if they continue with their poor business decisions.

The service has deteriorated to very bad, so I wouldn't recommend them. As long as we were under warranty, GE was all right. After it broke three times, they told me that I qualified for the "Lemon Law." However, when it broke the fourth time they said that I didn't because it had to be the same problem (the motherboard) , which it has been about six months apart each time, and then they said it had to break four times and they would come out and think about it. Then when it broke the fifth time, they said it was out of the warranty, and I didn't qualify for anything. Probably four of the servicemen were efficient, knowledgeable, and qualified. One man was very sarcastic. I am telling everyone to stay away from GE. I had to take the appliances because they came with the house.
Description of Work: We have been in our home for 3 years. It was a brand new home with brand new appliances, and our dishwasher has broken five times. The first time that GE came out was the day that we moved in. GE has came out all five times. The dishwasher is a piece of junk, as well as the microwave, which has broke. These are top-of-the-line GE Profile appliances. The last time they came out to repair the dishwasher again was probably in August. The first two years we had them come out was under warranty, so the price reflects the time they came out in August. The microwave has broken three times. Fortunately, the oven and refrigerator have not broken.

House went to closing on 8/20/07. One year warranty was given for appliances. GE appliance are in my kitchen only. Seven to ten days before 8/20/08, I had GE come out as their was a loud clunking sound, the dishes did not rinse properly, dry properly and sometimes did not use all the detergent. The detergent problem was explained and I agreed. The tech said everything was fine and "poof" off he went. Two months later, the dishwasher is completely broke down at the age of 14 months. The clunking sound came back and the column was askew after I turned off dishwasher and opened it. Thank heavens no water had leaked from the machine. I caught it in time. I called GE and they said that I had to pay for parts, labor, and a $75.00 fee for tech coming to home. I said no thank you. After some thought, I went to the complaint department. They only agreed to waive the $75.00 tech fee. I would have to pay for parts and labor on a 14 month old machine. I live by myself and use the dishwasher only once a week. So after 60 washes, it fell apart. I will ask the tech to guesstimate the labor and parts as I am disabled(yet do not collect welfare)and do not have the money to pay for the repair. I am sorry but I do not know the model number. It is the 100th anniversary of GE. As they do not stand behind their product at all, I highly recommend you do not purchase any type of GE appliance. Thank you.
Description of Work: No service at all, as they were not responsive to the fact that the quality of the dishwasher was "lousy." It was only 14 months old.

I called for a repair on my gas dryer, having knowledge of appliances my gas dryer needed an igniter because the dryer worked find except it would not heat up. I had to wait over a week before I could get a service date. When the repairman finally came and checked out the dryer he found out he did not have a igniter on his truck and it would be another week before he could have the part and come back to repair the dryer. I told this was not acceptable, we had gone over a week without doing laundy. He ask if I wanted him to order the part, I told just leave. I called a local appliance repairman and the dryer was repaired the very next day. GE start billing me for a service call of $79.95, I filed a compliant with BBB because I did not feel I should have to pay for a service call that did not bring parts to fix a standard issue. GE eventually turned the bill over to a collection agency, I was forced to pay the bill or have a ding on my credit report. This is the second time I have been ripped of by the same repairman. A year or so, the Blow Pipe on my Gas cooking range went out, I called Ge because I have Ge Profile appliances in my kitchen. The repair was done and was given a bill of $120 plus dollars for the repair. I was told the warrenty had expires, within the next year Ge sent me a reminder that the warrenty on the Gas range was about to expire and if I wanted to continue the warrenty. Because of the last incident with GE, I have replaced my entire kitchen with another brand.
Description of Work: Do make sure the repairman will have standard parts for repair before they come on a service call! Also check your appliances warrenty before service is called.

Badly! If you really want to know - on the first try the repair man did not have a door gasket although that is what I told him was leaking. On the next visit he had the wrong gasket. On the third visit he replaced the gasket, but in screwing the door back on stripped the threads from the plastic sockets around the door. He told me I had a choice, I could have the door leak or I could have the door pop open at random times during the cycle. I scheduled an appointment and insisted on another technician. I got the same one again, and again, and again. I finally got another man who ordered a part and said it would be shipped to my house. I was to call when I got it. No part arrived. I called GE 3 times over a period of 2 months, finally got the part and scheduled an appointment. The first technician arrived. I told GE I did not want him again as he was the person who caused the problem in the first place. After two more tries I finally got another man who said that the part that was ordered could not be installed without another part. He ordered that part and we repeated the whole thing again. As it turns out the part we need is not available. I am really stubborn but I have given up.

About three months ago, I called GE because my electric dryer was making a loud noise at start up. The repairman arrived and told me that there was no problem. 2 1/2 weeks ago it developed a burning smell and quit. I called a local service and they told me that the motor was gone. The dryer is only 2 years old and he suggested that, since it is under an extended warranty, I should call GE. I called them and set up an appointment for 10-28-08. At that time I told them that it would need a new motor and I gave them the model number and serial number. ON 10-28-08 the service person arrived and told me that there wasn't a motor available on the West coast. He ordered one to be sent to my house and rescheduled me for another service call for 11-4-08. The motor arrived via Fed EX on 11-1-08. I received an automated call on 11-3-08 confirming my appointment for the next day from 8:00AM to noon. No one arrived so I called GE at 12:04 and was told that they were "on the way". At 1:15 I called again and was told that they would check into it and that I should call them back in 30 minutes for a report on my status. I did that. This time I was told by a different person that I should have informed them that I had received the part. Never mind that I mentioned this each time I called and at no time did anyone call me to inquire about the part. At 3:45 I again called them and was told that they could not locate their repairman and that they would reschedule for 11-7-08 from 8:00Am to noon. Today I received a call about my "stove top" in spite of the fact the the first person who made the service call on 10-28-08 had confirmed that the serial number and model number on my extended warranty contract did in fact match those on my dryer. In the meantime, out of desperation, I called around town hoping I could find someone to come out and repair it and was told that only GE could work on it with a warranty in place. In the meantime, I have been hanging my wet laundry up in the family room for 2 1/2 weeks.

The appt. was easy to schedule on the GE website. The technician arrived as scheduled, and quickly diagnosed the problem as the pump motor assembly needed replacement. Estimated cost for the entire job was $360. It was $86 for the visit alone. The washing machine was just over 2 yrs old, and only cost approx. $800 brand new. I couldn't understand why one part would cost so much to replace on a relatively new appliance. There are just 2 adults in the household, so we only do 3 loads per week. He told me what part we needed, we ordered it online for $100 and my husband replaced it himself. Clearly, they are making quite a profit on repair parts. I gave the tech my credit card, and he charged the $86 to it. 2 months later, I received a bill in the mail. Trying to find someone to talk to about the bill was impossible. Turns out that they never charged my credit card. It took weeks to resolve, with a collection agency getting involved. I pay my bills on time, and had a receipt for the payment from the appt. They treated my like a criminal, like I was trying to get away with not paying the bill. In the future, I will look for a local appliance repair person.

I called 1-800-GE CARES. I had to go through an extensive voice messaging system before I got to speak to a person. The repair calls are scheduled 8-12 or 1-5 on M-F only. I would have taken my microwave into a repair shop, but GE doesn't have this option in this area, so my daughter waited for the first repair call. The repairman said it would cost $120 for the labor but the parts would be free. The repair call cost me $96 but if I let them fix it, they would deduct the $96 from the $120. I bought the oven in 2007 for $200, so I didn't think this was a deal. The parts arrived in the mail and I waited on my day off for the second visit. The wrong parts were sent and the repairman quoted a price of $198 to fix it. I called up GE and explained the situation. I think it is unfair to charge someone $96 to tell them that an appliance is broken. I also told them that I did not have the option to take it in to a GE repair shop even though I would have been glad to do so. They gave me 2 options. Buy a new appliance and they would deduct the $96 I already paid, or exchange the broken one for an identical one. I agreed to the exchange. They will deliver it next week M-F with the same 4 hour window they use for repairs. I scheduled the delivery for Thursday on my day off. I still want to negotiate to get the repair fee I paid returned to me since my oven did not get fixed, I had to wait around for 2 repair visits, and my microwave was only one and a half years old. The one it replaced worked for 13 years and never needed a repair. If GE exchanges the microwave and returns my $96 fee, I will report this information to you. As of now, I am disappointed with the whole process. I am a teacher and I work M-F. The repair times are difficult for me and my college student children to be home for. I have spent days off waiting around for repairs that did not happen, and a relatively new appliance is trash.
Description of Work: The repairman was supposed to fix my microwave oven, which I bought a year and a half ago. The parts were sent in the mail but he couldn't fix it because the wrong parts were sent. My virtually new microwave needed a magnetron.

Booked appointment online. Got a five-hour window, 8 am to noon. Technician was supposed to call when he was on the way. By 11:35, no call. I got through to a live person at GE (no easy task). She, and her manager, could look on the computer to confirm I had an appointment (so could I) but claimed they had no way to reach the technician and find out if he was ever showing up. After missing half a day of work for nothing, I went into the office. The technician called at 12:47, with no apology or explanation for being so late (I was so angry I didn't even ask how long it would take for him to reach my home from wherever he was).

From delivery on, dryer would occasionally cut out during cycle. Technicians said this was due to house wiring (a "floating neutral") because the dryers control unit gave that error code (never mind that the house wiring had worked fine for 12 years with previous electric dryer). Had to get an electrician in to certify the house wiring as OK before GE would replace the dryers control unit.

The refrigerator came. When they removed the cover on the front of it there was a whole bunch of sticky tape the stuck to the front. That took me a week or so to get it off. I finally called them and they said to use baby oil, and then trying to remove the oil was almost just as bad. They then sent out a stainless steel cleaner and polish. There were a few drawers that were scratched and dented when it arrive and then when I called them they sent back a few drawers that didn't work. I finally got it all taken care of.

The only bad thing is that when I called to schedule the repair and I described the problem, GE could not give me any idea of how much the repair would cost. The service call alone is $79.95, but beyond that they could not tell me any dollar amount. They scheduled my repair for the following day. The technician came within the time frame quoted. He was professional and efficient. Unfortunately, the replacement part cost $65.50, and the labor was $80 (for less than 30 min.) in addition to the home call charge of $79.95. The technician did advise me of the cost before he proceeded with the repair. I OK'd the repair because it's cheaper than a new gas range, but if I had more time to think about it, I might have just applied that amount toward a new range.

I had a microwave that was still under warranty and when I initially called to schedule a service, because there were four hour service windows, I could not fit it in my schedule. 3 weeks later I went to schedule online and was told they had a slot available, but they said they do not service the model I have. So, I called again and was told GE did not find it cost effect to fix my model and that I would have to call customer service when they were open on Monday to talk about getting a replacement. When I called customer service on Monday, I was told that they would come out and fix the model, but that ended up causing an additional delay in getting it fixed. When they finally fixed it, it was fine. The guy that came out was prompt and knew what he was doing. He did a good job.
