GE is not bad as far as their repairs go, so I can't much knock the service people themselves. I must say though, I would tell people to never ever buy appliances from their Profile Line to begin with. Our units, of course, broke right after those one year pointless warranties ran out, so we had to pay out of pocket to get them in working again. It was more frustrating and irritating than anything else. I'll say as far as the repairs they do, they are fine but as far as their appliances go, I would not buy another GE product since the appliances we did buy from them had problems sooner in the game than we expected them too. We would use them for repairs though since they're good at that. In fact, strictly for the repairs they do, I would give them all high marks. Its the products in general that I have a problem with.
Description of Work: We had purchased two new GE appliances, which were from the Profile Line they had. Just over a year after we bought them, they both broke. The stainless steel refrigerator was leaking and the stainless steel dishwasher was dong the same thing. GE repaired them by replacing some parts to resolve the problems.

I call GE because I really do not know who else to call in my area for appliance repairs. They are good. I figure they know their products since they make them. I think they sometimes could get to you faster than they do for refrigerator problems. I guess they probably get more calls on things like that than smaller things like microwaves. I had called them about my microwave and they were able to get to me like that day or the next day. Otherwise, I have no problems with GE.
Description of Work: My GE refrigerator door was not opening. I contacted GE to fix the problem. They got to me a few days later, worked on the unit, and resolved the problem.

This part that they replaced had a warranty for a year. The part broke a year and six weeks after owning it. They ended up charging me the 200 dollar fee to replace the part even though he was only there for 20 minutes. I called and complained. Finally, they gave me 80 dollars of it back because the problem occurred only six weeks after the warranty expired. I was not pleased with them at all .

GE had my air conditioning unit a long time. Meanwhile, I was hot at home. They just were not very punctual. I did not find them to be all that nice either to talk to. I mean, they did get my unit up and running and that was great. It took longer than I would have liked though. I'd continue to use them because I am now in a contract with them.
Description of Work: GE fixed my air conditioning unit. It simply was not turning on. They removed the unit, took it with them to repair, did the repairs and then brought it back to me when it was functional. Now I have a fairly in-depth long term contractual agreement with them. I gave them a thousand bucks. They come to clean and service my heating and air units in addition to other things for several years.

I love my GE machine to be honest. I will say that they are not cheap so it is well worth it to get the extended warranty plans through GE. I think they really are great when or if you do get a problem. I am a big fan of service contracts on appliances and I think GE is really good to work with.
Description of Work: I purchased a rather pricey kitchen appliance that is GE. It is called a GE Monogram Conversion Oven and Microwave. When it was not working properly, I contacted GE. A small part needed to be replaced for the oven function to work properly this last time. The machine was under warranty but I had spent an additional hundred bucks or something like that to purchase the extended warranty anyway.

We were very pleased and impressed with the professionalism of the service rep. He was knowledgeable and precise, accessing the sales info for a new unit from his laptop, and writing up the sale. GE didn't charge for the service call since we were purchasing a new unit. That was a Friday. Their shipping unit called Monday morning to arrange delivery the next day. Delivery again was within the expected time-window, with calls from both the shipping unit and driver before they arrived. The delivery men were polite, professional, and efficient. They came up to our third-floor apartment, slid out the old unit, carried it to their truck for disposal, brought the new unit up the three flights of stairs cheerfully (on a hot day!) and slid it into place. The original service rep arrived as they brought in the new unit, and he did adjustments and made sure it was installed properly and running well. He made sure we had all the product documentation and answered all our questions before leaving.
Description of Work: A through-the-wall room air conditioner was malfunctioning so we called GE Service. After making a lot of noise but still running last summer, the blower wasn't working at all. The service was set up by phone and the service rep arrived within the estimated window. He inspected the unit, identified the problem, and got it running (it was clear that the motor was still struggling to function, making a lot of noise but at least useable) but said it needed a new blower-motor, quoting the cost and time-frame for order/installation. Replacement of the blower-motor would have cost more than half what an entire new A/C unit would cost and it was over five years old, so we decided to replace rather than repair and get a more energy-efficient model. He placed the order for a new unit and said he would come back when it was delivered to set it up.

The company did a good job fixing the refrigerator and I was pleased with the service. I am very pleased with my maintenance agreement with GE because it has definitely saved me a lot of money. It is worth it to invest the money. I have had no problems and I would recommend them to people any time.

The rep. who was employed by GE, not a third party, was very helpful and drilled down through the options in his laptop to find us the least expensive option for his repair. He found an option that showed the magnetron as being covered under GE and thus we were only charged for the house call and labor which amount to $85.60. The magnetron itself was listed as $132.00. Total savings $132.00. This microwave is 3 years old and came standard with a new house. If you the time to wait and prepare foods over the range, it is worth the money to call GE and not a third party repair company. Total time for repair was 14 days from the first call because of part unavailability.
Description of Work: GE Microwave, Spacemaker XL 1800, would not heat, all other functions were normal. Consulted the GE Appliance web site listed in the inside of microwave. Was referred to a 1-800-432-2737 number to speak with a representative. Explained the problem and a service rep. was scheduled for the first available time which was 7 days later. Representative arrived 7 days later at 0800. Diagnosed the problem within 10 mins, which was a bad magnetron assembly. Representative did not have magnetron in inventory. Ordered the part, arrived 4 days later at our home and the rep. came back 7 days after the first visit.

To have to wait close to three weeks to have them come out and fix a lint filter to me is ridiculous. When I confronted them with the wait time and why it was so bad, they had no reason whatsoever. The men that came were nice and the machine is fixed, but I think I am going to shop around and make sure I know about the reputation of the company's support situation before I purchase another unit like this again.
Description of Work: I had purchased a new washing machine and it had broken down two times within the last 6 months. As it is under warranty, I had them come out to fix the machine and bring it back to working condition. They changed a lint filter and also adjusted some motor parts. They stayed about 30 minutes and took all junk away with them when they left.

I am happy with the work that GE did. Another company I called tried to overcharge me and when I called GE to let them of my problem and also told them that all of my appliances are GE, they ordered the part for me and put it in for only 50 dollars in labor. The worker was very fast and didn't leave any mess.

GE offers me a service that is literally incredible. They are beyond A level if you ask me. They are punctual, they know their stuff and they are good at diagnosing problems. I like the service people they send our and I have never had a problem with them covering in full every repair job on all of my appliances covered under my warranty with them.
Description of Work: GE repaired my dishwasher when it was not properly working. Water was leaking out. My annual warranty covers my washer, dryer, oven, and cook top. I pay about four hundred dollars each year for them to do any repair work necessary on those appliances.

When you buy from GE, you can trust they sell you good products typically. We have found the repair services to be quite good. They guy who came to our home showed up on time. He was respectful. He did not rush through the job. He did solve the problem. We were rather pleased.
Description of Work: We had bought a GE wall oven. When it broke it was expelling smoke when it was turned on and we immediately contacted GE. They sent out a repairman. A part was faulty. He replaced it, cleaned up the area and we have never had the same problem since.

Description of Work: My mom's ice cream would melt and freeze, defrost and freeze. She was sure that she needed a part, as in the past. The GE refrigerator is about 25 years old. They came a total of five times and never fixed the oven. Every time I called them, the call got transferred to Indiana and they had no clue what I was talking about. I told them what was wrong with the oven before they came and they showed up without the part to fix it, so they had to make another trip on a different day to bring the part back. I had to take off of work again and pay for the service for them to come back. I was so angry because they already knew the problem ahead of time, so they were trying to rip me off. Then the part they installed was defective, so they came back again and put a new one in and that never worked either. We eventually gave up on it and got rid of the oven. We will never buy another GE appliance ever again.

The people that we dealt with at GE were very professional and prompt in getting out to our home to service our problem. They repaired the problem and the dishwasher has worked great ever since. I also like that the technician that came to my home was not only knowledgeable, but personable as well.

I think they did an okay job. They fixed the problem and that was good. I am a tough critic because there are not too many good technicians in Las Vegas. We had just moved into a brand new condo when we called G E Appliance. They came that same day (which was pleasing). He found that the problem was simply dust from the new drywall had gotten inside the workings of the icemaker. He didn't even charge us for the visit, marking it down as though we had canceled the appointment. You can't beat that for good business. On that alone I recommend them.

They did not repair our icemaker to our satisfaction and we were told there was nothing they could do. I am not pleased.

GE does not seem to be able to fix my oven. That is why I bought a toaster oven. I am not that pleased with their oven repair services. I would not recommend them to others because right now I do not feel very satisfied with them.

GE does what they promise to do with their contracts. I feel fortunate to have purchased one. They save me money in the long-run and prevent me from paying a ton of money if something goes wrong with my appliances.
Description of Work: GE recently came to my home to work on the dishwasher, which I purchased through them. I also bought a three year contract with them. They cleaned out the mineral build-up in my dishwasher because it was running slowly. My maintenance plan covered those costs. They also cleaned and dusted the entire unit.
