Robert Wells and his son has work in my crawlspace on two different occasions and both times they have done excellent work.   I would highly recommend the Crawlspace Doctor for your crawlspace needs.  The Crawlspace Doctor is very professional, does quality work and very responsive and the price is right.  In 2010 the Robert and his son installed new installion, vapor barrier and cleaned up my crawlspace.  In 2012 they installed 3 piers because the wall in my master bedroom has sunk.  Both time they did excellent work and if you hire the Crawlspace Doctor you won't regret it.  I am very pleased with his work.

We called Crawlspace Doctor in December and they were very quick to respond with a free estimate. We live in another state and needed to get the estimate while we were in town. Matthew was very professional and knowledgeable. He crawled under the house and took many photos of the poor condition of my crawlspace. Knowing this is an older home, it smelled musty ever since I purchased the home in 1998 and suspecting moisture issues, I had no idea what it looked like under my floors! There had also been a run off issue that flooded out the motor of my heating and air system, that needed to be replaced, costing an excess of $3,000.00!
We received a very informative estimate regarding my specific needs, along with all of the photos, showing old venting materials, trash, damp spots on foundation, hanging wires, venting that was not even connected to floor vents! (apparently, I have been heating and cooling my crawlspace for years!) Having those loose and unconnected vents exposed us to the poor air quality, possible "biological growth" in the air and likely entrances for household pests. The photos also showed a poor job of installation of my new heat pump that was done by a friend of a friend. (thanks a lot, Dale!)
We were not able to have the work done right away, but scheduled it while I was in town this week, knowing it was a two to three day job.
Robert and his crew of two (new temp agency laborers) showed up early and described the scope of work for the day. This is hard, nasty, dirty work! They put in a long day with few breaks. I could hear nearly everything that was going on as if they were in the next room. I heard Robert talking to the new guys, and patiently teaching and explaining as they went along. Very professional, well mannered.
Aside from the smell being churned up and the sounds of work coming from under the house, I would never know they were here.
Day two got started a little late because apparently the temp guys decided that type of work was not for them and didn't show up. Robert explained the situation and said he would stay and work as long as he could, which was a long day.
Day three Robert showed up with a new crew of two, ready to work. The three of them, along with Matthew were able to finish on schedule and everything was cleaned up when I met with Matthew to discuss the job.
Matthew removed his shoes, and brought his lap top computer in the house. We reviewed the "before" photos. Then we were shown the "after" photos, with a detailed description of the work performed. He described the 20 year transferable warranty of their work and the 5 year warranty of the new sump pump.
They take a lot of pride in their work, because he said if I ever had questions, or if anyone would have to do work in "their" conditioned crawlspace, they would come back if needed to make repairs to be certain there was no damage.
I was comfortable having them in my home and felt confident that the work was going to be high quality because I could tell by their experience and our conversations that they knew what they were doing.
Not everyone has a need for this service, and its not cheap, (you get what you pay for) but I would HIGHLY recommend them.
I can't say enough good things about them. They were so nice, and in was very happy with the whole experience.

Matthew from the Crawlspace Doctor responded quickly to my request for an estimate to insulate the crawlspace of my old house. He came, went under the house which has extremely tight and irregular clearance. The house is well over 100 years old and has been remodeled and repaired in the past. After his inspection which included taking pictures of the entire space Matt loaded the pictures on his laptop and took a lot of time showing me and explaining to me what he found. He explained that he found asbestos insulated radiator pipes for a system that had long since been removed.  After a very thorough first visit and hearing his suggestions we began looking for someone to remove the the old pipes and the asbestos so that the Crawlspace Doctor could perform the work.

The asbestos covered pipes were removed and Matt returned for another trip under the house.  More pictures were taken which actually showed that some asbestos and piping had been missed so a call was made for the removal company to return to finish the job.  After all asbestos had been removed, the Crawlspace Doctor returned, cleaned out all debri and hung wires and plumbing that needed to be secured.  As the work was done, more pictures were taken showing HVAC issues (including a duct that was laying on the ground and had been disconnected for who knows how long)  and some minor plumbing issues.  I had others come in to make those repairs.  During one of the trips under the house Matt discovered rotten and missing wood which turned out to be inadequate work from years back from another project - which I had to have fixed too.

After the HVAC work was completed, Crawlspace Doctor returned and installed all vapor barriers and insulation, completing the work.  At every step of the way pictures were taken and shown to me and a CD was provided with all the pictures.  These were extrememly valuable as I had to refer to them with others that were working under the house.

This was a very involved project that required a number of other people to come in and make repairs and perform services.  All of this was not planned for or budgeted but absolutely needed to be done.  I would not have known about these issues if the Crawlspace Doctor had not been so thorough.  The things that they pointed out to us did not result in any additional income for them though because we had other people perform the repairs that they pointed out.  The price was high, but considering what they did, the amount of time that it took to complete the work, and the conditions under the house I think it was a fair price. I am anxious to see how this work helps to reduce our energy expenses this summer and next winter.  I would recommend the Crawlspace Doctor for their thoroughness, hard work, promptness, attention to detail and what appears to be a very good system/product.

The Crawlspace Doctor was the first company I called for an estimate for my crawlspace.  Matthew took a great deal of time in the crawl diagnosing and documenting his findings with a camera.  My job from start to finish was a unique one and Matthew spent more than 3 hours with me on his first visit weighing options.   We ultimately both agreed that we needed to think a bit more about our approach.  The next day he returned with Robert to go over things again.  This was a very no pressure, professional approach.  Which was very refreshing as it relates to my experience with contractors in the past.

I proceeded to have three other companies out as this was a big undertaking and I wanted to make sure I felt confident in who I chose to work with.  All three of the other companies dropped into the hole I had created and acted as if they were looking around but I could tell they weren't being as though as Matthew had, which instantly turned me off, if they were this lax with the approach I could only imagine their effort in doing the actual work.

Throughout the process of getting other proposals, I continued to discuss and share with Matthew these other companies approach.  Needless to say, I was comfortable and confident with Matthew and The Crawlspace Doctor.

The crew showed up on time everyday and if there were going to be any delays, Matthew always made sure to communicate with me to keep me informed.  Matthew and his team worked with me to get to a point where they could pull off the job in order for me to have mold remediation performed and were right back to things as soon as they could safely enter back into the crawl.

Everything that was initially proposed was performed in a professional manner.  The only thing that they didn't do was remove one or two bushes that they thought they would have to remove to create my outside entrance.  They worked with me here too and saved the bushes.

In an area most people, myself included, wouldn't dare to venture into, Matthew and his team left me with no worries and as a Raving Fan.

I will Rave about their work and would recommend them to anyone experiencing an issue or questioning anything in their crawlspace!

The day they came they were prompt.  They went to the basement, put on their suits, and went to work.  By the time they were done, where there was once a cold mess was now a clean, warm crawlspace.  Since they have performed the clean-up I have noticed that the floors on my first floor are warmer and it is nice to know that the crawlspace is clean, insulated and safe from my cats!I highly recommend these guys!

Excellent initial consultation. Very informative, with no pressure to go forward. Pictures taken of my crawlspace and shown to me with suggestions to fix problems found. After getting other estimates, they were by far the best and informative, so it made it easy to select them to handle my crawlspace issues. They scheduled me quickly and finished the job just as quick. They then showed me after pictures of my crawlspace and it was an amazing transformation. I would definitely recommend these guys for your crawlspace needs.

First, he beat other quotes by over 50% and didn't insist I needed more than the mold expert reccommended. Second, I've had several other professionals (plumbers, electricians, cable installers) in the crawlspace and they've all commented on the quality of the job without me even prompting them. Third, he discovered a leak and took precautions so that it wouldn't create another mold problem. And he said to call him back to finish taking care of his precaution, no extra charges. I'll definitely recommend him, but I doubt I'll have to call him again.

We have two crawlspaces under our home.  One is under our living and dining rooms and has an access door in our partial basement.  That area couldn’t be dug out as a basement because of a lot of rock and wet ground.  The other is under our family room and is connected to the first one.  Each is about 16 x 20.  At the end of 2011 the crawlspace under our living room flooded because the sump pump we had in place failed to work during a hard rain.  We called Robert Wells at Crawlspace Doctor after being referred to him by another professional. Matthew Wells came to our home and did a very thorough inspection taking many digital pictures, which we were able to view on his laptop computer right away.  He pointed out areas of concern and gave us solutions to address them along with an estimate of the cost.  There was no pressure for us to make a decision.  He told us to take some time to think it over and give him a call if they could help.  After talking with Matthew we knew there was no need to look anywhere else or get any more estimates.  We decided right then we wanted Crawlspace Doctor to do the work.  Matthew told us he would schedule us for their first job in January. Our appointment was set for 8 a.m. January 3.  Matthew Wells, Robert Wells, and Ross Jones pulled up at 7:45 in three trucks with 2 trailers – one for hauling away the old insulation and vapor barrier that was ruined in the flood and one with the new materials to be installed.  They began to work as soon as they arrived.   Since they needed to come through our house to have access to the crawlspace, they put down plastic runners in the walk paths and on the basement steps.  They removed all the old materials, tied up wires that were hanging down, cleaned up some things that were left unfinished by the original builder, and installed French drains around the perimeter and in low areas of the crawlspace.  The drains were all tied in to a new sump pump they installed.  They installed a vapor barrier on the concrete walls and over the dirt floor of the crawlspace.  They added insulation to the exposed outside walls.  They worked late into the evening in order to finish the job for us in one day.Their professionalism and friendliness are outstanding.  Our job turned out better than we could have ever expected.  The damp, musty smell that we had tolerated for over 20 years was gone that evening, and our basement and the family room above the crawlspace are warmer than before.  We have learned how important a healthy crawlspace is to our whole house.  Knowing what we know now, we wouldn’t have waited until we had a problem to have the work done.  I would recommend Crawlspace Doctor to anyone who has a crawlspace.

I highly recommend Robert Wells' team from Crawlspace Doctor for any of your crawlspace needs.?Robert helped us with a crawlspace that had been unfinished and untouched for nearly 20 years.? He not only explained every step of his work, but helped with recommendations for self-help actions and referrals?to other professionals for?those tasks that I did not wish to tackle.? He corrected minor problems he found in the crawlspace instead of just working around them.? He kept us informed of his progress the entire time, and was extremely flexible with his schedule, working around the changing schedules of several other contractors I had working on the house.? He?insisted that he be the last one in the crawlspace to ensure others did not damage any of his work.? Most others I've worked with would not have worried about it after "their" job was complete.? His integrity and work ethic was obvious.? Simply put... the best contractors I've ever worked with.

Robert warned me that he could find extra problems once he began his cleanup and he was right. He found termite damage and plumbing problems that needed attention. Not only did Robert give me the information he was present and gave his time and energy when the other contractors showed up to give me estimates. He was a really great asset to have because he was in my corner and he helped direct me to the right people. Sometimes people try to take advantage of a single female homeowner but Robert wouldn't let that happen.
Crawlspace Doctor finished the work ahead of schedule and he went above and beyond to do a great job! He even Cleaned my Gutters Free of Charge!!!! Bless you Robert I'll forever be grateful for all your help!!!
I would recommend Crawlspace Doctor to all my friends and family. Great Experience!!!

Mr. Wells came and did a very thorough assessment of our crawlspace and the work that needed to be done.  After interviewing several other companies, I have to say we believe he was the most upfront and honest.  He even pointed out and helped fix several problems we didn't know existed.  For example, one of our heating/cooling ducts was not connected and we had a small leak that needed to be addressed.  No one else caught these problems.  He completed the work in a timely and professional manner.  He even took out old insulation and debris through the vents on the sides of the foundation so as not to make a mess in our house.  No other company was willing to do that!  We once had a nasty, problem-ridden crawlspace and now it is a dry, insulated and clean space.

I can honestly say that working with Crawlspace Doctors was an exceptional experience. I have never hired a contractor that was as honest and dependable. We had 3 companies come to give us an estimate on resolving water retention in our crawspace and the others did not compare. Matthew Wells came fo inspect the area and was very thorough. He captured each area of concern on digital camera so that he could share his thoughts with us. He reviewed each one and explained our options in each case. The other companies basically looked around the crawlspace and came out saying you need this for that much money. No explanation and not even addressing several of the issues that were pointed out by Matthew. And of course the other companies prices were the same or more than Crawspace Doctors but did not include many of the actions needed to resolve our issues. We selected Crawlspace Doctors for their thorough inspection and knoweledge of what needed to be done, along with the reasonable price for the work being completed. The work began as promised and ended as promised. If I was told an arrival time they were there. Work was completed on schedule and reported to me daily, along with pictures of the progress. I found the workmen to be very polite and professional. Their performance was inspected by one of the owners before each end of the day. We are very happy with our new crawl space. The sump pump that was installed is working great and is keeping the water out. The insulation and vapor barrier are very efficient and we have no complaints. Robert Wells has personally called to check on us and make sure everything is okay. You do not find many companies who care much anymore after the final check has been paid. If I were to have issues in the future that are handled by this company I would call and set it up, no questions asked- no other estimates needed. I would refer friends and family to them without a worry.

I was impressed from the start with the presentation from Crawlspacedoctor. The owner himself crawled under my house, inspected, took photo's, and uploaded them to his laptop so I could see the problems and the overall condition of my crawlspace. He then gave me a detailed list of everything he would do to fix each of the problems and improve the climate conditions there.
The owner answered each of my questions with an explanation of what will work in my situation, and offered alternatives that could apply.
At no time was there any pressure to buy now, to buy an upgraded service, or to buy additional items. He even gave me advice on how I should request problems with my crawlspace be handled if we chose not to use his service.
The inspection and explanation was concise, and informative.
The workers showed up on time, were pleasant to talk to, and cleaned up after themselves.
When I requested a change to his initial proposal, the owner agreed to the change, and kept my cost the same.
The finished product matched all the photo's he had on his laptop showing satisfied customers in their crawlspaces happy with the work done.
I am completely pleased with the results, and would recommend them to my neighbors.

Dealing with Robert and Mathews Wells has been a great experience.  Free estimate was exactly that with no scare tactics. Just the kind of business I like to deal with.  I have a kid with medical problems and fully aware that alot of companies would see dollar signs when they find out. They allowed me to make an informed decision and the price was within my budget.  After the initial estimate which as I asked for all the bells and whistles (because I am a worry wort) Robert came out and basically  told me that I did not need everything.  This made me feel very comfortable with them since I fully expected scare tactics and selling of services.  At least a thousand dollars saved. They made the crawlspace a really neat addition to the house.  The work was neat and professional.  When they left, if you didn't look inside the crawlspace you would not have known they had been there.  If you did look into the crawlspace you would say wow that is the cleanest crawlspace I have ever seen.  He has made several trips back out here free of charge to make sure everything is what I had expected.  He has answered every question I have asked in a way I would understand. I have his number on speed dial if I need anything else they can do for me. I actually feel comfortable calling if I just need some advice!
If you are having problems with humidity in your crawlspace this is the way to go.  Do the research on the web before you call anyone and then call Robert or Mathew Wells.  They just won't allow you to be disappointed.

These guys just get it.  If you want to hire a straight shooter these are your guys.

They initially came out and performed an estimate of the job. Took pictures and gave suggestions. No pressure at all from the person performing the estimate. Scheduled the date for the job and had to reschedule due to a conflict. They came out and performed the work and did a great job. They explained everything and I had no issues. They addressed any concerns that I had. Even gave me a 5% discount for being a Angieslist member.
