In February my son had concerns about the efficiency of the furnace filter. A technician was able to come that same afternoon about 5:20 which was good. He was personable and seemed knowledgeable and answered the questions then also did an inspection. He claimed to have found cracks in the heat exchanger and advised he could not turn the furnace back on due to the risk of carbon monoxide. The overnight temperature was in the 20?s. He called someone to supposedly check the cost of a replacement heat exchanger and came up with $750 plus installation but advised it was not worth repairing such an ?old? furnace. He also said he could get a $5000 furnace installed that night! He showed us the ?cracks? on his handheld video screen with flexible tube for light and camera. The striking thing was that the ?cracks? were straight lines which is not what one would expect. What he showed us a picture of was the seam where the two pieces of sheet metal came together when the heat exchanger was manufactured. No ?cracks.? We got a second opinion and are happily still using the same furnace with no risk of carbon monoxide and did not pay $5,000 for a new furnace that we didn?t need.

I am rating them D for disappointment. I have used Bryant services for the past 8 years. Eight years ago Bryant installed a new heating and air conditioning unit in my home. For 7 years I had them come each spring and fall for maintenance. I always had terrific technicians and service. In the last year the service declined and then I was told the compressors were going out on both units. I had them install another complete unit inside and out in June. The technicians were not too swift and it took them a full day to get the job done. In December I started having trouble with the unit and it took them 5 trips to finally find and fix the problem. They offered no compensation for my time and the technicians were a bit rude. I called the office to report the issue and never got a return call. I called again and was assured I would be taken care of. A week has passed and still no one has called. I will absolutely not recommend them to anyone else!

Our entire experience with the people from Bryant has been an absolute nightmare. The install went bad because when they installed the drip pan...... it leaked water all over our floors in the closet, ruining carpet. Of course, they came out and got that fixed. The unit actually ran well then for a couple months until a tech came to perform a semi-annual scheduled maint. We don't know specifically what the tech did.......but from that time on ( more than 2 months ) we have had nothing but troubles with our system. Where the real frustration comes in is when we had different tech's called out here, nearly daily during late Dec, each one of them refuted what the guy before him did.... and started doing some other task. Nothing worked...... so the last few techs came and said it was our thermostat. They've changed out 4 different thermostats over the past 10 days. Our issue, which simply is that our unit continues to run and can't get the house up to the set temperature... is still not fixed. We've called managers who apologize and make promises to solve our problem, but currently we still don't have our system running right. On top of these concerns, the techs began telling us that they weren't going to keep coming out here. The problem wasn't even solved....... and these guys are making comments like that? We bought the unit in May of 2013, and are still dealing with problems as I write this in Jan of 2014. Please do more homework and read customer reviews both on this site and thru some generic Google searches before deciding on what company you choose to be your HVAC provider. We will never refer Bryant Heating and Air to anyone.

It was very easy to schedule an appointment. When I noticed the unit was not working, I went onto Angie’s List, purchased the Big Deal, and they honored it without any additional costs. Without the coupon, the price would have been much more. They technician was very nice and knowledgeable. Everything was perfect!

This review is about Bryant Heating and Cooling .We hired them to replace our fuel oil furnace - hot water system on April, 2007 with a new heat pump system. There were 2 major problems with the system they installed. One was the system design, and two was the installation itself. For the system design problem, we unfortunately were not well versed on what constitutes a good ducted heat pump system at the time, and didn?t realize that all ductwork should be in the interior of the house to limit heat loss through the ducts. This we have found out since from several other heating/cooling contractors. Since we have an old farmhouse, Bryant decided that the easiest way to reach much of the house was using exterior duct work. Some was insulated, but much was not, leading to major heat loss through the ductwork, and extremely high heating ? cooling bills. The ductwork itself ruined the appearance of our house, making it less sellable if we were to try to sell it. According to the other heating contractors, there were not near enough supplies in most of the rooms, the size of the supplies was inadequate. and the supplies themselves were not placed properly, most way too close to the return and not on outside walls. For the installation problem, we must have had Bryant back 15 to 20 times to fix problems caused by poor installation. The following were some of the problems 1. Bad wiring which caused burned wires, and system malfunction. 2. Freezing up of the unit due to heat loss through ducts, causing the unit to constantly be cycling off and on. 3. Improper sealing of the ductwork to the house, allowing animals to get in under the house causing damage. 4. Ductwork that was not sealed correctly or fell apart under the house, causing major heat losses under the house, and higher heating bills. 5. Only 1 thermostat for the entire house, making it virtually impossible to have all rooms at a standard comfort level. 6. The cost of our heating and cooling bills some months was over $600.00 just for heating or cooling, with a thermostat setting at 68 degrees in the winter, and 74 degrees in the summer. We currently are looking to have an entire new unit installed, possibly ductless or heat pump, and this unit removed, because major parts have gone out on this one, and we cannot afford to continue using this system even if it is repaired.

Two service people installed this. They had to be called back because the system was not working well. Two more came and redid the first crews installation, which was not put in correctly. Then we called again because the system was still not working so again we called Bryant, and another indiviual came out and said that a switch was not turned on and the amp was not right and then he proceeded to install another. After all of this the system was working. The personnel were nice but all of them were not skilled installing this..

They were decent. After he left, we started having an issue with the air conditioner. We knew from what he said that there was going to be an issue. Subsequently we got ourselves a new air conditioner. He said that there was going to be a charge, I told him that I had purchased the big deal, he called the office and verified it and said it was good. He checked the air conditioner and warned me about that. He even went downstairs and checked on the furnace. He just checked to make sure that everything was still workable. He could not say when it would happen, but said that it was headed towards an ultimate end on the life of the unit. Then we said that we should go ahead and do this. I would use him again. They came out when they said that they were going to come out. The gentleman was very courteous. He explained everything that was going on. They should have let the tech know that it was already paid for. Everything else was done very well. The things that he was responsible for, he did a very fine job.

Bryant Heating & Cooling seemed fine. We had some concern because the gentleman told us that it was leaking freon, but he couldn't tell where. He would have to do a test for several hundred dollars to know where it was leaking from and that might or might not be able to be fixed and that, if it could be fixed, they could add freon and do another maintenance work. That would be another few hundred dollars or we could just go ahead and get a new unit, because they had 18 or 36 months, no financing on air conditioners. Well I have a home warranty. I called the folks from the home warranty out to look at it, to see, because they could add freon. That gentleman said he added a pound of freon, but because it was cooling, that it was working. He thought that was not necessary and that it was somebody trying to sell us a new unit. I think the service is fine. I'm not an air conditioning expert, but I question the tactics, that they were or were not trying to sell us a unit that we didn't need. I say it was at least possible that they were trying to sell us a unit and it may or may not be because we can't see. I don't know. We're blind. The unit is 10, 12 years old. It's not a brand new unit, so we are eventually are going to have to replace it, but if I don't have to do it now, I don't want to do it now. I don't know if what they were doing was right or wrong. I think the other part of the servicing was good. Their responsiveness was average. It took awhile to get everything together.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Big Deal to get my air conditioning serviced and will return in the fall to service my heating system. I did not pay anything extra. I only paid the original cost of the Big Deal.

They diagnosed that I need a new heating unit, which I decided to do with them. The experience was fine and I had no problem. I have nothing negative to say about them. They were quick to come out here. The price was a little expensive. The coupon did not apply to anything that I was doing and it was poorly worded.

I believe they were trying to swindle a senile 90 year old who would believe any thing they said. To me it borderlines financial elder abuse. I have reported this behavior to the BBB and have requested a refund.
Description of Work: On 3/19/13 Bryant charged my senile 90 year old mother 59.95 for checking her cental air and noted that "Blower wheel already has dirt build up on it. Filter is not the right oneto use. Dirt is passing filter" The technician (Ronnie) did not replace the 1 inch filter with the correct 4 inch filter. In may mom called them again to have her A/C serviced. Instead of telling her they had serviced it in march they sent the same technician (Ronnie) who charged her 64.95 foe "check central air" and noted "cleaned and checked A/C. Blower motor dirty.Need different filter or filter rack. Need major clean on blower" He then noted on the invoice an estimate of 375.00 for major clean and 125.00 for filter rack. He told mom he could come back the following week and do the 500.00 worth of work. Mom asked me her POA about the work and I immediately cancelled the work to be done. On checking the furnace myself I saw the 1 inch filter in the 4 inch filter rack. I went to Home depot and bought a 35.00 filter and installed it.

The company sent a service tech to do a prepare a nw customer sales proposal. The tech was knowledgeable and responsive but unfamiliar with how to handle a full system sales proposal. He wrote the proposal on a service repair form that was not conducive to explain the costs and details for a new system. In essence I received a very confusing proposal. While the numbers were shown on the form, I had no idea what equipment model numbers were being provided. I did not get a followup sales call from the company but did call them to turn-down the proposed system.

Our heat pump stopped cooling and I began to call HVAC service providers based on my research on Angie's List. Bryant happened to be one of the companies that caught my eye based on reviews and coupons. I contacted Bryant on a Tuesday morning and their representative said that they had an available time slot and would arrive at my home between 3 and 6pm that very day. I was quite pleased at the time as my first choice could not fit us in until Friday afternoon. I scheduled with Bryant but that evening came and at around 6:20pm I received a call indicating that they were very much behind schedule and that a technician woul not arrive for another couple hours. I opted to re-schedule for the following day during the same 3-6 time frame and even made work and personal schedule changes to accomodate their visit. Unfortunately, that Wednesday evening I was the one to reach out to Bryant at 6:40pm to check status as I had not heard word from them. I was told that that their technician had responded to another call and that we were next on the schedule. We were told a technician would arrive at our home in the next two hours. Two hours came and went so around 9:00 pm I called them again. Suprise! Another call interrupted their technician. Needless to say, I did not reschedule. I find it hard to believe Bryant's service lives up to A and B grades. If you value your time, don't live an active lifestyle, and have all the free time in the world then by all means contact Bryant and wait for them to arrive. Otherwise move on to the next HVAC service provider and don't waste you time.

I purchased new filter and replaced. System has worked fine since.
Description of Work: Found coils had frozen and the melting ice had overflowed condensation pan. Removed clogged filter that caused system to freeze. This is an attic unit that is located quite some ways down an attic crawl space and I never realized that there was a replaceable filter. Tested contact switch and capacitor.

The staff was remarkably professional and understanding as always; the appointment was set, the technician showed up on time and most important, MY ISSSUE WAS RESOLVED and almost a year later my A/C (which is about ten years old) is still going strong. Kudos to Bryant!
Description of Work: I went through the extremely misfortunate situation of having my air conditioner stop working completely during a brutally hot and humid early July - not to mention, when I simply could not bear it anymore, I had to seek for a company that would service it on the Fourth of July. Our fan was running all the time, because it thought that the HVAC was overheated because the part that measures the temperature had broken. We called friday night and they did send someone out Saturday morning since it wasn't an emergency. We were originally told the part would cost about $80 plus the installation, so we agreed. After they got the Angie's List coupon and left to get the part from their warehouse, they called us back and said the price would be over $400. We were upset, but went ahead and agreed to the service, because it needed to be fixed, and we would have to pay the $60 diagnostic fee anyway. When I contacted them later to complain, they said they have a price book that lists how much each repair is supposed to cost, and maybe the technician did not have his price book with him that day. They did offer a complimentary spring maintenance because of the confusion with the pricing. However, when the technician arrived to do the maintenance, it was a pretty cold day, and he did the heat maintenance rather than the air conditioner, which doesn't do us much good at the end of March.

They put the pipe in crooked and they had to come out about 16 times to attempt to fix the entire install job of the furnace. I have had a horrible experience with them and would not recommend them. They were going to put a humidifier in and once it was installed we realized it was dripping and not operating correctly. I also have had them out to clean the A/C and he would not even take the top off of it to properly clean it. They did such a terrible job they gave me 6 extra furnace filters thinking that would resolve the situation. Their customer service professionals are not professional in the least and told me that sometimes you just don't get a good product, which I did not feel was a reasonable excuse.
