Provider stated that furnace needed repairs and cost for parts were very expensive. I got another provider to provide a second opinion and found only needed some of the work and only at 1/4 of the cost. This makes me very suspicious of the company and the individual performing the work. Would not recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Evaluated furnace operation.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. It looks like the technician recommended a gas valve, an igniter and a flame sensor. We offer flat rate pricing and a one year warranty for all parts. If you'd like to discuss this further, please call us at 502.363.2451.

Let me start by saying my unit is around 14 yrs old. I annually get my furnace checked from other reputable companies and they are normally routine in their inspection. This company( Bryant Heating and Cooling) came out, looked at my unit and immediately told me I had a problem with the heat exchange?? He proceeded to put a probe light in the unit and showed me thru a camera that I had a crack and he was sure I was leaking carbon monoxide Well, I was very concerned and thought well maybe due to the age of the unit. He registered a carbon monoxide level of 2-3 in my home and told me I should keep the unit off and purchase a new unit. I didn't give him an immediate response, so he started to edge me on by telling me he should by law turn my gas off and shut the unit down, still all within one breath telling me I needed a new unit. I went along and told him to provide some suggestions for a new unit and of course if he had a nice pitch. He finally left without cleaning unit. I called my Home Warranty Insurance Company and I told them I had a crack in my heating exchange and I was leaking carbon monoxide. They sent out Fast Response Heating and Cooling. They removed the blower and showed me what Bryant said was a crack, when in fact, in was a manufactured welded unit, meaning two parts welded together. Bryant said it was a crack. Fast response registered a Zero reading of carbon monoxide I am very disappointed in Bryant Heating and Cooling, since they are shown to be a reputable company with high standards. \

As I drove up to our home, the technician had just discussed with my wife the bearings were going out on the inducer motor of our furnace and suggested the pressure switch also be replaced, claiming they were normally done together. I responded the last time they inspected our furnace we were charged over $500.00 as a result, and I had no intention of paying them to rebuild our furnace each time it was inspected. There are no fault codes, the furnace is cycling just fine, and I don't hear any bearing noise. I inquired regarding price and he quoted $882.00 for the inducer motor (retail is $289.00) and pressure switch $226.00 (retail $38.00). I'll continue to listen for bearing noise and respond accordingly. I could be wrong, but I just had the feeling the inspection is basically an opportunity to upsell company services.
Description of Work: Routine furnace inspection, everything working normal at the time. Company offered a special rate of $65.00.

I apologize you were not satisfied with the service you received. The technician did note that the inducer bearing was rattling and that the motor and pressure switch work hand in hand so problems with one can result in problems with the other. The repairs were suggested, but if you are satisfied with the way the furnace is functioning, it is absolutely your decision as to what is done. We believe it is important to let you know of any potential upcoming issues. In reference to the parts replaced in 2013, those were normal maintenance parts that needed to be replaced. Thank you for letting us know about your experience and please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

We called them to find out how much they would charge for a deep cleaning back in October 2014. They quoted us a good price, so we went with them instead of another company. They came out and found several things wrong with our heating and cooling system (I'm now sure this was false) and told us the price, making it double what we were originally going to pay for the cleaning. We paid the fee and figured everything was good. Fast forward to Feb of this year when the heat quit working again. They said we needed a deep cleaning, when we thought it had been done back in October. According to them, a piece cracked due to build-up and overheating BECAUSE IT WASN'T CLEANED (This is what I thought we paid for back in October). The part was under warranty, but Bryant wanted $1300 to fix this problem even though they didn't clean it when they should have. They claimed that back in October, we paid for what the technician said was wrong and NOT the deep cleaning that we originally called for. I called to dispute this and the only thing they could do was give us a slight discount. I am beyond disappointed with this company and I will never use them again. I do not recommend! UPDATE: After reading numerous reviews, I doubt that any piece had actually cracked and needed replaced at all. I've had ex-employees tell me that that's what the technicians do. They either break things so you have to pay to fix them or they tell you they are broken for the same reason. Either way, very shady business!
Description of Work: Supposedly they did a deep cleaning, but in reality didn't which lead to other issues that we had to pay for.

The initial install seemed to be professional and went well, but there have been continuous things that needed to be fixed. The biggest problem is this ... they don't use the same technician to adjust the issues. One comes out and says this is what's wrong, but then when another crew comes out, they have to start over. It'd cut down time, cost, and aggravation if I always had the same person coming out. I hate that about it.

Tech came out and stood at door. I asked where he wanted to begin, inside or outside? He said with the outdoor unit and I should turn the thermostat to 60 degrees. He asked if we were having problems and I said no, AC was working fine; I just wanted the mainenance service. He reappeared no more than 4 minutes later to tell me I had a huge problem, freon was leading out of the system, my coil was going to freeze which would destroy the compressor and I could choose between a new system for at least $2500 or a freon leak check for $300, but the latter would only confirm what he already knew and would probably not result in a fixable situation anyway. I asked him how he knew this so quickly and he said his instruments showed that the temperature of the cold air was 68 degrees, when it should be 60. I asked him to show that to me and he said, "You mean you want me to get my equipment back out again?" (He had already put everything back into the truck! Had not performed the indoor part of the service...apparently convinced I would simply spring for total replacement and he'd be done.) I said, yes, please, given that we are talking about a huge expense, especially when the system is working just fine. He reattached his gauge to the pipe, then quickly unattached it again (without an opportunity, it seemed to me) for it to register much below the ambient temperature and said, yep, too high. I asked him to leave it attached so I could see the gauge reading. He attached it again and again showed it me to quickly (it read 66 degrees, not 68) but before I could see the numbers, he quickly pressed a button twice on the instrument (either the up or down yellow button; I could not see which). I asked him what button he had pressed and why, before I could see the reading and he answered, "Oh, those buttons are just for me; you don't need to worry about them." I then asked him what it was that he was measuring, exactly, and why that would prove I needed an entirely new AC unit. He was not able to answer my questions clearly and was becoming uncomfortable. At this point, everything was still calm and friendly, but I could not get him to give me straight information, nor to tell me what buttons he had pressed and why. When I asked again about the buttons and suggested we should do the clamp check again, without the button presses, he then said, "Oh you can hear how bad the unit sounds. It's about to fall apart." I said, "No, this is the way all outdoor units sound...they normally have this kind of machine-rumble sound." Note that mine sounded no different than any of my neighbor's AC units, nor any other units I have ever heard. He said, "I"m not going to explain heating and cooling systems to you; I don't think you'd understand anything I would tell you. I am not trying to scam you but I will refund your money and you can get somebody else out here who will tell you the same thing. And probably your coil is going to freeze up before then, too." I said, Please understand that my problem is you are telling me a perfectly well-functioning unit needs to be completely replaced...surely you can see why I would have some questions about what the evidence is for that conclusion. He just turned and walked away. I did call Bryant and explained that he'd terminated the visit (without ever going inside, without removing the cover of the unit--all he did was the clamp/temperature check with the quickly pressed buttons). They sounded shocked, but I did get my money back. I do believe that the initial question regarding my still having a functional warranty, plus the shiftiness of the tech, his refusal (or inability) to answer questions, the immediacy of the verdict (just minutes) without clear support, the mysterious button presses and his attempt to frighten/intimidate me into an impulsive major replacement are indicative of shabby business practices by what used to be a respectable business. Not only will I never use Bryant again, I will also never again fall for any of the "maintenance service" scams, either. Let your units run (with proper cleaning, of course) until they don't; them pay to have them repaired by competent technicians (not the same ones they send for the maintenance visits.)
Description of Work: Supposed to come out and perform preventative maintenance service using Amazon local discount coupon. Note that the scheduler specifically inquired about whether my system was still under some kind of warranty. Why does that matter, unless they are intent on selling me a new unit?

Not well to say the least. Tech checked the unit and made a diagnosis that the downstairs unit could be fixed for "about" $2200 or replaced for "about" $7500?!?!?. He never gave me any info on what type of unit, or a specific cost of unit and install. Everything was very vague. Very suspicious to say the least. So I checked Angie's list and found the #1 rated company, called, and they performed work and then some for same price. Bryant's were just trying to get a quick sale and did a poor job at that. I would not trust these guys. UPDATE: I was contacted by Bryant and they apologized for the experience I had. They refunded the service call fee as well. Although I did not use them I would give them another chance in the future based on this follow up. If I was to use them and didn't like the experience I would contact manager directly and have her help to resolve. She was GREAT!!!

Service tech told me my system was bad after a routine service/clean appointment. said the heat exchanger was cracked and dangerous. my furnace was 15 yrs old and just decided to believe his word and i'm wishing i had gotten a second opinion. I'm very happy with the carrier infinity furnace that they installed, but feel that i was swindled into buying a new furnace when I didn't need to. They told me upon installing my furnace that the coil was badly clogged and not cleanable. i had them remove the coil, but decided to wait until the spring to have the ac replaced. When I had them come back out they quoted me $1,000 higher for the same unit they gave me a quote 5 months prior. after having two other carrier dealers give me estimates Bryant was $3,000 higher for the same model ac unit. That is just crazy! Don't use Bryant unless you want to spend your life savings! I recommend Robbins and Legacy for Carrier service!

The service tech was much more interested in selling me a new system that preparing mine for the new season. Immediately he pointed to the rust in the coil frame and declared that the system was "falling apart." Outside he discovered that the compressor motor was "about to fail" and warned of dire consequences if that happened. He did determine that it needed refrigerant, but said that he would need to run a $150 dye test to see where it was leaking. He assured me that they could install a new system right away for anywhere from $5000-12000. A second opinion from a trusted company that I have used several times confirmed that the system is ten years old and nearing the end of its lifespan -- but there is no reason to panic, no danger, and no need to buy a new one at this point. They added a pound of refrigerant. Please beware that when you have Bryant come for a tune up, you are paying them to come and makes a sales pitch. Sounds like a good deal for them!

Supposedly fixed. I had to ask the guy to put on shoe protectors after he tracked mud in my house. Hopefully it doesn't break again the next time they come to do a routine check. I will only use them again because of the warranty, so I have no choice. Do not use them. Do not have them check your equipment. Their service used to be great. It is now terrible.
Description of Work: My electric bill has gone up to double what it has normally been. I called them to come check (the unit is a year and a half old and I got it from them) he said the wire on the outside unit wasn't connected. Said that happens sometime. This is after 4 months of there being an issue with the unit last winter. They will not replace it only repair.

They dropped the ball from the get go. They checked out my furnace pretty early in the morning and said that it couldn't be fixed, needed to be replaced. They wanted to start right then, but I told him I wanted to think about it. After calling the office they said that they would be out by 3:00 pm. By 4:30, I had nobody and had not even received a phone call letting me know of a delay. I called the office, they said that they would be out when they could, I told them that I didn't think this was good customer service for someone who is spending $9,500 with you company, or for anybody for that matter. The office person said the technician should have called & to ask him why I wasn't notified they were running late. Within about 5-10 minutes a technician called me and I did ask him why I wasn't called. He responded that he had just been assigned the job about 5 minutes prior. He said that he would be out shortly, I told him to cancel the service call I had changed my mind. He told me to call the office, which I did & cancelled. In the next30 minutes I received 3 more calls from supervisors & managers trying to convince me to go ahead with the install. The last time, I finally said ok, after he promised me 2 years of regular cleaning and that they would be right out and complete the job that night before leaving. They were at my house promptly, but did not complete the job before leaving. I called for a manager / supervisor 3 different times that evening and was told each time that they would page one and I would be called. I'm still waiting for the call! Once they left I read the work order that said "Job complete Probably fail inspection". after everything was signed off on, then the technician told me that they would have to come back and finish the next day. I had told the manager earlier on the call where he promised it would be done in one day, that my schedule would not allow me to be there for them to come back for a couple of weeks. I told the technician that I would not be in town the next morning, as I am working out of town right now. The next day, I got a call saying that they were in route to my house, I told them again that I could not be there. I came home late that night and a caution was on the thermostat saying the filter needed to be replaced (less than 24 hours after the install). Their suggestion to fix it was to disable that feature. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I'm a woman

We called another company, Magruder, who replaced the gas igniter for about $150 plus their service charge. I am furious!
Description of Work: We have been a customer of Bryant for 6 or 8 years. We called them at 6:50AM because our furnace was not working. The operator said the serviceman would be there between 9AM & Noon. He finally arrived at 12:40PM. He checked voltage in several places and then said we needed a new ignition board and an induction motor for a cost of about $1500.00. He strongly suggested a new furnace which would cast about $5000.

I called asking for a first available appt in the late afternoon as our furnace had stopped working during the exceptionally cold weather. They were able to come out within an hour of me calling which was great! However the tech spent about 1 minute (not an exaggeration) looking at the furnace and decided one rather expensive part was broken, and advised a replacement of our furnace right away. I was definitely not interested in purchasing a furnace on a whim but the tech pushed for it. I told them they could replace the part which wouldn't be available until the next day (but somehow they could immediately put in a whole new furnace?). He acted extremely disinterested, left the furnace cover off and kinda huffed off after collecting the cost for the service visit. I had another HVAC service come out for a second opinion, that tech spent about 30 minutes diagnosing the problem and fixing some other small things along the way, and it turned out to be a completely different part that needed replaced. So, after that experience I would definitely not recommend Bryant, nor would I trust them to come back and make any kind of repairs or maintenance. EDIT: In response to this review, a manager called me to get more details about the poor service I had received. She also refunded the $60 service fee. As a result I'm bumping them up to a C instead of a D.

I called about 4 am because the heat wasn't coming on and they said they would make me the first call for the day. A tech showed up about 8:30 which seemed reasonable although since it was -6 out I thought they would have had emergency service or earlier appointments. I did tell them on the call I had no heat and also I had Angie's list. Tech was friendly and professional. After looking at the unit for a bit he priced me three parts but said the unit was pretty much garage and once I started fixing parts I should expect more to go out in the near future. He priced me the three parts at about $1700 without labor, a new furnace that he called a "fire trap" at around $3900 and a top model at around $6000. I decided to get a second opinion since $6000 is a lot of money. Paid my $60 fee (don't believe I was given an Angie's list discount) for having them come look at the unit. When I called the second place and told them they were a second opinion she actually said did the first place happen to start with a B. I had to laugh. Second place came out. Only one part was needed and it was less then $300 with labor. Sad I'm out the $60 fee but lesson learned to check the reviews even if it is 4 am and get the second opinion.

My air conditioner was not cooling my house enough so I got an offer in the mail from Bryant for an inspection. They came out and said there was a little switch that is broken and will cost $900 to fix and they said after they fix it it will probably break again and that I should just purchase a new air conditioner for $7000. So I did they installed it and exactly 12 months later it broke again and it cost me $900 to fix it this time. They didn't sell me the labor warranty that most places offer for multiple years. I got a labor warranty for 1 year so I had to pay them the $900 to fix it. Ever since then it's been awful. It is still not working right and I just paid $300 for them to put freon in because it wasn't cool even after that it is still not working.

The technician was very punctual and well spoken. He worked on the unit for about 2 hours and said we had burnt out heat exchangers and a host of other issues. He said we'd need a complicated fix that would cost $3700...before the Angie's List discount. After reading the reviews on Angie's List I decided to get another opinion, which happened today. Using another Angie's List service provider we received a completely different diagnosis (venting issues), with a fix that would cost under $500. They tested the heat exchangers and found them to be in perfect condition. I do not recommend Bryant.

Called to get central A/C unit repaired. They were very punctual on this first visit. Our current unit was only 5 years old and not working. Salesman checked unit and determined it was a bad compressor. He then called the manufacturer supposedly to get warranty information. He stepped outside to make this call and was back in the house within a couple of minutes to break the bad news...no warranty. Although disappointed we had to do something something with sweat dripping in our eyes. We bought the new unit he sales-pitched to us with explicit instructions that he was to leave the entire old unit with us. I checked and this is perfectly fine for the owner to retain the unit since all refrigerant is expelled by removing from house. They left my house with my unit and immediately sold it to a man who refurbishes AC units that still look pretty good and only need a few parts. I called owner Anthony Schembari Jr. and he said the unit was gone. He was EXTREMELY rude and even laughed at me for being angry about something " that is over with and done, like crying over spilled milk." ,he told me. I also advised him that his salesman lied and had in fact never contacted the manufacturer of our old unit. Lennox keeps track of these calls and ours was the first. Although the unit was not in warranty; the compressor WAS in warranty and would have only cost us $700 to repair instead of the $5100 we were slapped with. I corrected him for laughing at me and advised him of his rudeness. He said he would call himself to check the warranty and if it was in warranty he would work something out with us for the difference the next day. He never took our calls again. He is very rude, foul mouthed and unprofessional & he's the owner. Later that night. Still hot. House 88 degrees. We called. Next day Crew #2 came back to find that crew #1 didn't add refrigerant and did not have outside unit wired properly. They inspected remainder of unit and gave a thumbs up. Later that night the house was now 91 degrees. I called again and Crew #3 showed up the next morning and said they are the group that's actually trained and certified to install the units. What? Then why did crew # 1 or crew # 2 EVER come into my home. They inspected EVERYTHING and determined that the blower panel on the furnace had been shorted out and the coils were deep under ice. No air that night... Not ever recirculating muggy air. Next day crew #3 came back. They replaced the blown out panel and gave a thumbs up with cool air blowing from the vent. But by this time Satan's breath would have felt cool. The cool air lasted nearly 2 hours and clicked off. We call Bryant..... AGAIN. Crew #4, trip #5 to repair a brand new unit resulted in us getting the master installers. Unit installed WRONG ALL TOGETHER. They rewired it, actually filled the refrigerant to its max and the biggest problem of all was that the new coil was not an "A" coil like our Lennox, and is positioned differently inside the ductwork. The installers never modified the routing of the ducts, so air did not flow over the coil and caused it to freeze up within an hour or two of operation. The master installer noticed this right away, and had it fixed in about an hour. He admitted that he was amazed none of his co-workers noticed it. So much so that he even took pictures of it with his phone so he could show them the error. The first 3 crews in the 4 daily visits never saw that the coil was way wrong. They all did actually looked at the coil each time also. I knew I should have been very afraid when Crew #1 & 2 were both completely amazed at my NEST thermostat. They had never heard of one and couldn't understand how it worked. They had to thaw the coil. Come back later. Remove it. Install the correct one. Then get system wired correctly, filled correctly and blowing cold air. Did I ever see that refund Anthony Schembari promised? ... NO. Can I get him to return my calls? ...... Also a NO. ****************************************************************************************************************************************************** UPDATE: After posting this review we were contacted by Brittney from Bryant Heating and Cooling regarding our poor customer service experience. She was very friendly, professional, listened to our concerns and worked very hard to rectify the situation. Through these conversations with her she was able to offer a 2 year Service Agreement on both AC and Furnace as well as an accessory to our HVAC system which made up for a small portion of the money we lost by purchasing a whole new AC unit instead of the warranty repair. The service people and technicians who were sent to our house for this latest install were extremely professional and friendly. My advice to would-be buyers: Demand a senior level technician to install systems. Not an "install team." Don't trust them to check on your warranty for you. Demand that ALL old equipment stay on your property. When calling this company regarding any customer service issues, you should speak to Brittney and not the owner, Her professionalism and friendliness deserves awards. We are now pleased with our unit and satisfied with the service outcome.

The technician came out and was supposed to clean out our furnace and get it tuned up for the upcoming winter. He however told us that we had a bad motor that was over amping by double it's rated ampage, and that we needed to get it replaced. The part alone was quoted at almost $800 and a new unit at close to $3000. Well we decided to get several estimates on the part and replacement from other local companies. As soon as they heard Bryant was here they rolled their eyes. It turns out that we do not need a new unit nor part. He showed me the test right in front of my eyes and the motor was running fine. On top of that they didn't even clean my unit. So I have another company here doing the cleaning right now, which is costing a couple hundred dollars for what Bryant was supposed to do in the first place. A call to their store resulted in nothing but, Sorry. 11/17/14. After leaving this review, I was contacted by Bryant a second time to work on a resolution to this issue. They have agreed to give me a free A/C cleaning in the spring to try and smooth over the problems. I have updated my review grade in accordance.
Description of Work: We bought an Amazon Local deal to have our Furnace cleaned by Bryant. But what we got in all actually was a lying and scheming company.

They seemed to have done a nice job as far as installation. The unit seems to be working. The problem is that the salesman offered a $1000.00 rebate but they are not honoring it. They sold something to me and didnt follow through. The salesman should have never even mentioned this if they were not going to follow through.

I thought they did a good job. They were very professional. Their tech were very helpful. I had an issue with my air conditioner where it wasn't working right when I bought my house last year so they came out probably like 3 times and finally they figured out it was low on freon so they filled it up with freon and it has worked well since then. I think they did a good job.
Description of Work: I've used Bryant Heating and Cooling to do my air conditioner check and furnace checkup. I signed for a package where they do both.

These guys showed up and worked their butts off at a fast pace from the moment they arrived till they finished the job. Their were a couple of hiccups along the way, one being there was a mix up in the schedule. They were supposed to come out on a Saturday, but they were here bright and early on Monday, with lots of apologies for mistake and added on one season of check up maintenance on the equipment to make up for it. Next, mom wasnt happy with the aesthetics of the line installation of the mini-split, but they were back out the very next day to make it right. I can not recommend this company enough for others to use. They were so kind, respectful and worked really hard! We will most definitely use them again in the future and I suggest you use them too!!!

When I first called Bryant - which I've been using for years - to come check my a/c, it was July 11. I was told the coil was leaking, and then it "there's a crack in your furnace, so it should be replaced." Considering both were 15 years old (though I know now, from reading the other reviews, there might not have been), I believed it (without having seen it myself) and I okayed a new one ($6355). They installed it that day, taking 5.5 hours to do it. (I was told it would only take a couple of hours.) The new coil and furnace were installed, but by Sunday night, the a/c was again not working. I called and they came out Monday morning. It took from 10-2 before I kicked them out because I had things to do and they were to come back after 4pm. One came back just before 7pm. By 9, he told me he thought it might be the high pressure switch (hps), but could he come back the next day to work on it. I said no, as I already had other plans for the day, and they'd wasted 2 of my off days as it was. Another came back on Friday (18th), and got it working. Again, by Sunday, it wasn't. Monday (21st), the one from the previous Monday eve came back; said it was the hps, but the part would have to be ordered; it would cost $883; he could give me the "club" price for $795. He also suggested to replace the heat pump ($6100). I nixed that, and that was the point I was done with Bryant. I contacted a couple of friends for referrals for 2nd opinions, and they came through. I had 2 other companies come out. The first one wasn't Carrier-certified, but he recommended the 2nd one, who was. This 2nd company was able to bypass the hps, and will replace the switch in a day or 2, by making it an easier access, and so much less (like, nearly $600 less). So there you have it.

[Member Name Removed], Thank you for sharing your experience with you. We have left a few messages to discuss this with you in further detail. From our experience, it is not a common practice to bypass the high pressure switch and it is an unacceptable practice in the industry. The safety is there for a reason and bypassing the safety can cause potential damage to the system. Please let us know if you have any questions. Sincerely, Bryant Heating & Cooling
