The work went well. The workers showed up timely, cleaned up their mess, and were polite and informative.
Description of Work: We needed masonry and roofing repairs completed on our home. Our primary focus was on masonry work to prevent water damage in recently replaced windows. Bone Dry did a full assessment of our roof and masonry items, easily priced out each project and made suggestions on some other repairs necessary for safety and integrity of our brick work.

Everything was great and super professional! Louie separated the quotes by project for me so we could pick and choose what we wanted to pursue. He was able to provide us information on the state of our roof as well. In the end we chose to have them re-secure and seal some flashing and install box vents. The work was a reasonable price, all my calls were returned and questions answered quickly/professionally, and the work was completely quickly and as expected. We were very pleased.

We had repeated problems in relying on the company's communications to us and with poor customer service. Specifically, on several occasions we were promised things that never occurred. For example, a crew arrived , without a promised supervisor, to install the gutters and downspouts. Not only had they not been informed as to which gutters to replace, but they had been sent out with the wrong sized product. We frantically called the salesman and the designated supervisor, but they were unavailable for over an hour, while the crew sat in the truck waiting. Then the crew just took off and shortly thereafter the salesman called to tell us they had sent the crew to another job site. Our job had been rescheduled for several days later. At my insistence the supervisor finally called us and admitted that he had mistakenly loaded the wrong-sized guttering on the truck. I asked what could be done and he replied he could do nothing since the crew had already been re-assigned. I had to threaten to cancel the contract before he reluctantly offered a financial discount as compensation for our inconvenience. The installation of the correctly sized guttering was completed five working days later. Two examples of the same kind of problem occurred during the masonry work on our chimney. One day the crew failed to clean up before leaving. We called the absent supervisor who called them back to clean up later the same afternoon. However a more serious problem occurred during the "weather-proofing" phase of the chimney work. We were told that, since our wooden deck was right next to the chimney, drop clothes would be used to protect the deck from staining by the waterproofing material as it was sprayed on the chimney. As happened with the guttering, initially a crew showed up without any waterproofing material on the truck. They came back the next day without the supervisor and failed to use a drop cloth. Consequently the deck was riddled with unsightly stains. It took four weeks and many calls on our part before the company responded by offering to waterproof the entire deck at their expense. We agreed to this, but on the day it was to be done, the salesman called to say that he had just learned that the stains would fade over time. This being the case, he offered another financial discount to what we owed in lieu of waterproofing the deck. By this time, we accepted his offer and were glad to be done with them. All in all, we had a frustrating experience with a company that appears to stretch a sparse work force over too many commitments and often ends up promising more than it can deliver.

I have been working with Bone Dry after a storm and my insurance company to fix my roof. It went well, the workers were good and the company was professional. They cleaned up afterwards. They made a significant effort to pick up all the nails that were left.

This is the first time I have used Bone Dry for roof work. I had them do some masonry around my chimney cap and add a chimney cap a few years ago and did a fabulous job, where I called them to do the roof work! The guys did fantastic! Everything from when Phil came and inspected everything, reviewed what he saw and recommendations to the repair team Edgar and Bubba (Eugene) were awesome! Very professional, nice, easy to talk to, thorough in their descriptions of what they were planning to do, how they were going to do it, and even came to with a solution to an issue they saw and how they were going to do it during the job. They even showed me pictures of before, during and after of what they were working on! They cleaned up after themselves and were in and out in before I knew it.

Excellent experience. Started with a very professional estimator, Phil Bauman, who inspected the roof thoroughly and provided options based on our budget. Once we made the decision to replace the roof, the process was seamless and the roof was replaced expertly. The project manager, Roger, and his team of 10 workers were terrific. Also appreciated the interest of the office manager, Louisidor Leger, who dropped by the project at its conclusion to make certain we were satisfied. Since the installation, I have had several neighbors, who complimented on the quality of the roof and the installers.

We used this company three times before and due to the excellent jobs, we had no doubts to call them again. However, it now looks like entirely different company, The guy making estimates pushed us into repairs which were not fully necessary. In addition, he promised that the entire roof will be done with the same material. When the crew finish the job, not only they repaired the wrong panels, but also use two different materials on the roof (clearly in was not even possible to use only one type of shingles) and damaged both gutters After complaining, new adjuster came, after him a new crew to fix the problem. The gutters had to be replaced later by another crew. However, three days later, parts of the roof started to get loose, so another guy had to come to repair the roof.

Response from Bone Dry Roofing & Masonry - Louisville
Hi, I apologize that this is your thoughts on the experience with us. As a company we strive to take care of each and every customer. Please remember that when you called us it was to fix issues that you had on your roof. As my team has talked to you about we can not put shingles on a low slope roof (1/12 pitch). When you have a low slope roof we have to do a low slope application as per manufacture. If we would have put shingles back on the low slope roof it would have had several leaks and would have damaged your decking (wood) underneath. As a company we follow the manufacture installation guidelines in order for us to be able to give our customers the highest warranty possible. Putting shingles on that low slope would have cancelled all of your warranties. As a company I admit that we are not perfect but what we pride ourselves on is always being there if something goes wrong. We do not run away from any issues. I am sorry that you're not happy with our work but please have the peace of mind knowing that because we did the proper application you have a warranty for your protection. If you ever need anything in the future please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank You, Louie Leger General Manager

We recently purchased this house knowing that we would have to address a leak issue with the chimney. So in January we got three estimates from local companies. Louie from Bone Dry came out and immediately impressed us with his professionalism. He was very informative and did not pressure us or overestimate the work. It turned out we needed about ten bricks replaced, many areas of tuck pointing and a fix for the cap. Now, having talked with our home inspector about the cap, I wanted a modern, stainless steel chase lid that covers the entire top of the chimney. All of that was estimated at around $1200, with another $250 or so for the waterproofing that Bone Dry does. If this review ended here, it would be a positive one. But it doesn't. The problems started when we tried to schedule the work. We called to schedule the work on a Wednesday (2/3) and were told that we'd get a call early the following week to schedule. No call ever came. I called back over a week later (2/11) and was told again that I'd get a call back. I called back yet again after five days (2/16) and left a voicemail. Having not heard anything I called back again three days later (2/19) and finally was put in contact with the production manager, who scheduled the work for 2/24. On 2/24, the weather was rainy and I did not expect the work to get done, but no one called me. So I went home from work as planned. I thought better of it, though, and called Bone Dry first to be told I wasn't on the schedule, then to be told by another person that, yes, they were cancelling and would call me back to reschedule. To no surprise, they did not call me back. At this point I contacted Louie to express my frustration and give them one more chance. He was very quick to respond, very apologetic and scheduled the work for the coming Saturday morning. The day of the work, the crew arrives and begins working. A few hours later, they pack up their truck and leave. They didn't say anything, did not show me what had been done, nothing. I thought they were going to lunch, but they did not return. So we had Louie come out the following Monday evening to show us what had been done. (He was also supposed to estimate some other masonry work for us, but we never received that estimate.) It turns out, they had put the wrong cap on. Also, the work looked a bit sloppy, though we were assured that much of the extra mortar would be taken off before the waterproofing was applied. Louie said that someone would call me to schedule putting the right cap on. As with my previous experience, no one called. I had to contact Bone Dry repeatedly to keep up with the status and to get the work completed. Finally, they came back out on Monday 3/21 to finish the job while I was at work. Roger, the production manager, was to return Monday evening to show me pictures and get sign off on the work that was completed. He did not show, and I had to call him to find out that he wasn't coming. We rescheduled for Wednesday evening. Again, Wednesday evening comes, he doesn't show, and I call again. This time he comes out. Now, the work isn't the cleanest masonry I've seen, but it's not bad either. I received a larger cap for my chimney, but it still wasn't the chase cover that I expected. Roger explained that the type of cover I expected isn't used for chimneys with square clay flues. I'm not sure why this wasn't communicated up front to set my expectations as to what I was getting. Overall, the work and product is simply not good enough to overcome the complete incompetence when it comes to customer service and scheduling. At no point in the process did Bone Dry make any effort to reach out to me for scheduling or to let me know where things stood. Louie, the manager, is a very good face for the company, but the rest of the experience was pretty terrible.

Called to setup the appointment after a recommendation from Angie's List. Told the person on the phone that we the area we wanted evaluated was the roof on a 3 story building. The person who came to estimate did not show up with a ladder that could get on our roof to review the problem. We discussed and they said they would follow up with to setup a return visit. I did not hear back from them. They were courteous and polite at the visit, but like many contractors did not follow up or simply stop responding instead of doing us the courtesy of declining the work.

They could have better communication with the customer when the schedule changes. It was the first time I've used their service. They did nice work but you take half a day off from work and they call you at 4 o'clock and say they're not going to be here today. It was annoying. I've got no complaints on the work but schedules are important.

Bone Dry Roofing provided one of several bids, all roofing contractors highly rated on Angie's List. Bone Dry was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive. However, they were able to provide all the requested services, for a fair price, and also offered financing. They did the tear off, repair and roofing for our home and garage. This was a large job and took about 1 1/2 days. They did a spectacular job! They were thoughtful about placement of the trailer for trash, and deposit of the materials for the roofing. Kudos to Jose Garcia, who provided us with the bid, stayed in close contact and provided timely follow up with us. I would give Bone Dry Roofing my highest recommendation!!!

This was an older home. Bone dry came out and inspected the roof detailing the work that needed to be done. Jose came over and explained in detail what was needed and how much. He gave me options on the latest material for the roof. I was impressed with the new products. He also gave me different options on the financing. Jose stayed in contact with me until we came up with a plan for the financing. Jose had his crew come out and replaced the entire roof in just one day. The entire crew which included Adoon and Roger were very friendly, respectful and professional. Thank you so much Bone Dry!

We had a leak in the roof and problem with spalling bricks on the chimney. They were quick to come out and give us an estimate, and were punctual showing up to perform the repairs. They replaced a number of shingles and flashing on the roof, installed a new concrete crown on the chimney, replaced a number of bricks and repaired a number of tuck points. All seems to be successful, so no issues with the quality of the work. First problem was that they left a lot of mortar on the deck and (somehow) on the driveway. They were not particularly responsive about coming back to clean it up, they always had some other jobs that apparently were more important than finishing mine properly. When they finally did (and all credit to the guy who showed up late on a Friday evening) they removed the mortar by abrading the surfaces. I had to restain the deck (was going to anyway, so no big deal) but the driveway will never be the same again. Worst aspect of the service was the billing. From just about the moment their truck puled away, I started to receive dunning emails and letters, and these kept coming even after they had cashed my check. They returned after a month to waterproof the chimney, and even though I had already paid for this the emails demanding payment started again. I will not use this company again, I'm sure I can find another provider that will do as good a job, leave less mess and not treat me like a con artist.

I really appreciated the time and effort Roger, Sarah, and the whole staff at Bone Dry took to service my repair. They were patient in answering my questions, explained the work to be done and gave me the time-line for completing the work. They called before arrival and explained the work to be completed. I have to say they even went above and beyond when my daughter locked herself out of the house without shoes, keys or her phone. Patiently they borrowed her one of their cell phones taking my calls as we arranged a way for her back into the house. I would most definitely use these guys again!

[Member name], I am very sorry about this confusion. We have some new office employees that are still in training. We absolutely do skylights. In fact we are Velux's 4 star contractor in this area. What they were trying to say is we don't currently do exterior windows at our Louisville office. As a company we install windows but we are in the process of training, getting certifications, etc at our Louisville branch in order to best take care of our customers. Again, I apologize for the confusion and I will have my office manager call you to schedule a time that we could come take a look at your skylight. Louie Leger General Manager

I contacted this company on 6/20 to ask if they could repair and apply a coating the metal roof on my house. The initial response was prompt and very courteous. We arranged an appointment for an estimate and Louis and another man showed up promptly on 6/29. However, by 7/24 I still had not received an estimate for the work requested and contacted Louis via Angie's List. He replied that I should have received the estimate already and that he would check into it. Someone from the office called me to ask for my email address, which I gave them, but I still have not received an estimate. I emailed again on 8/12 and have not had any reply. The company has done work on a neighbor's home during this time, so perhaps they are so busy they do not need my business. I am very disappointed as this is a highly rated business. I did not give an overall rating of F due to the promptness of the initial response and the punctuality for the first appointment.

We have had a LOT of rain this spring in Louisville, and I had water leaking into the kitchen. I found Bone Dry Roofing through Angie's list after we discovered a small area of wet drywall in the kitchen ceiling. I believed it was the furnace vent leaking from the roof, down the outside of the pipe, and settling on the drywall. But, our house is under contract to sell and I had to get a professional out fast. I called on a Sunday afternoon and in less than 2 hours, "T" was here to confirm that was the problem and cover it with a tarp. The next day, the company's Louisville office was hit with power outages, down internet, and other crazy problems from local storms. That didn't keep "Sarah" the office manager from contacting me on her cell phone and finding a way to schedule the repair manager, "Adoon" to come out today. He arrived on time, finished the repairs in less that 30 minutes, for no additional charge. Outstanding customer service, professionalism - hope I never need them again, but if I do, I won't hesitate to call.
