Bone Dry Roofing & Masonry - Louisville

Very good work. We already had an estimate from a few months before, and called when a major leak started. The estimate wasn't the lowest, but far from the highest. We probably could have gotten the job done for about $1000 less, but the service was worth a little extra. They came out within 3 hours and put an emergency tarp over the leak. Once the water was stopped, they booked the job for 2 days later, and arrived exactly when they said they would. The workers had the old shingles stripped within 2 hours, and the new installed within 8. We have open soffets, and one of their workers used nails that were too long, pushing them through where they were visible underneath. After noticing this, they came back within 4 hours, cut the nail ends off, and repainted over them. I don't expect every job to be mistake-free, but when a mistake happened, they were outstanding in making it right. Overall, it took 2 days to finish, including the nail issue. While it's unlikely we will have to use them for 30 years, we would definitely recommend them to everyone.s

They were not the lowest price of the quotes we received but we felt they were the most professional and would do a better job. We were very satified with their services. The crew did not speak english but a foreman stopped by a couple times during the day to answer any questions we had. They did an excellent job of cleaning up and the foreman had them sweep for nails twice without us asking. It has been 5 months and I have not had any problems with the new roof.

From the time I called, the secretary was extremely professional, personal, and friendly. She made an appointment for me and told me when they would come out, who would come out, and what vehicle they would be in. On the day of the appointment, he told me he was available earlier that the scheduled time, which I accepted gladly. He came right on time. When he got here, he had a badge, a portfolio to show me, and answered all my questions. He was very thorough when checking the roof and told me more than anyone else had. The invoice that he gave me was very detailed and showed me precisely what needed to be done and what the cost would be. He also offered a 10 year guarantee for workmanship, and gave me information regarding their liability insurance, which I didn?t even ask for.

He was very polite and professional. He explained what he thought we should do and it stopped leaking so I think he did a good job. I didn't get any other quotes. He seemed reputable. If I was going to do a roof with them I would get more quotes.

Louie came out and gave us an estimate and explained everything to us. In addition he made recommendations, that would not have made any difference in the price, ( no up-sale!). He was very knowledgeable, especially for his youthful looks. He did not appear rushed and we did not feel any pressure to make a decision at any time. From the start to finish, everyone was punctual and the work was completed correctly and on time. We had a small amount of damage to our siding, which they came immediately and repaired! The work crew were quite (no joking, loud conversations) with exception of the hammering, which was expected. They (much to my dismay), worked on two of the hottest days of the year, on top of the fact they started the Friday before Labor Day, AND they worked on Saturday to complete the job! The job site manager was friendly, and answered our questions and led the crew to finish our roof to our satisfaction. The roofing company we had contracted with several years ago, the crew seemed to be on breaks all the time. We picked up cigarette butts and nails for months afterward, with Bone Dry, you would almost not know they were here. We did not see the cigarettes at all, and we have picked up (3) nails! We had some estimates that were a little bit lower, but looking at Angie's List, and meeting Louie, we followed our gut, and are very pleased.

He came on time, took about 4 hours, one man did it alone and he cleaned up the mess when he left.

I received 3 estimates before selecting Bone Dry Masonry based on their knowledge, professionalism, a reasonable bid and the reputation of their sister roofing division. The work was scheduled a week after I accepted their bid. The two man team that rebuilt the chimney began around 8am on a Friday and worked till 9pm that night with only a normal lunch break, returning the next day to work about 4 more hours, completing the exterior job. A number of bricks were destroyed when the chimney collapsed, bricks that are 90 years old and no longer made. Bone Dry had a stock of these brick and were able to rebuild without using any brick that didn't match, a real plus as I live in a Preservation District. The bricklaying was excellent - a beautiful job, even on the backside (see photo - Note: a permanent cap is on order.) Clean-up was meticulous. The two man team that worked on the smoke chamber worked about 6 hours Friday. They suffered my questions with great patience and good spirit, often having to reframe their answers so I could understand. Everyone involved in the project was polite, responsive, patient and great at cleaning up. I highly recommend this team for chimney repair.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful the experience was, from the estimate to the work's completion. Louie, the division manager, did our initial inspection and estimate. He took plenty of time (but not too much) explaining the entire process, provided lots of factual information that allowed us to do even better research of companies/contractors and roofing materials generally on our own, and was not forceful or tried a hard-sell. No other contractor took the time to really explain the process or the products as he did, and without such an education, we easily could have made a poor decision. (For example, without Louie's informing us, we wouldn't have realized that the manufacturer's warranty on the shingles was often voided with the cost-cutting methods many roofers use to avoid buying starter strips or ridge caps. After hearing that, we were easily able to verify it by reading the manufacturer's warranty on its website -- something I would have never thought to do ahead of time otherwise -- and were able to quickly sort through other quotes when the roofers would happily tell us, "We cut down flat shingles to create the ridge cap.") Louie was extremely quick to respond to any additional questions we had by phone or email. We had plenty of time to look at sample boards of shingles that interested us. On the day of the work, the crew arrived ten minutes before I expected them, worked very thoroughly and efficiently, and finished 2-3 hours before they were estimated to do so. They laid out plenty of tarps to catch the debris, went all over the yard with a large magnet at the end to ensure they caught any stray nails, and left us with an unopened bundle of shingles should we ever have a problem so we don't face the added difficulty of finding a match down the road. They even fixed a couple gutter spouts that had popped apart (not of their doing) just because they were able to do so more easily than I would and whacked away a couple ghastly weeds on the driveway that I just had not gotten around to taking care of myself. Clearly, above and beyond! Carl, the crew leader, kept me apprised of the progress and ensured I was clear on all the warranty paperwork before he left. Louie stopped by once during the day and once towards the completion to see how things were going. As we asked friends and colleagues for roofing recommendations, we discovered that so many people would respond, "Well, we used So-and-So, but don't use them. It was awful." I can't wait for someone to ask me for a roofing recommendation so I can brag on these guys. It was a fantastic experience -- I wish all our past home improvement projects had been done with such competent and cognizant people and organizations, and all our future providers have an extremely high bar to meet now.

So far, no more leaking. As far as the fairness of the price, $425 seemed high after the job was completed by one man in 2 hours. Minimal materials were needed. I didn't get other estimates due to needing to get the leak stopped ASAP. Contract stated that they would match old roof as close as possible, but finished repair is considerably lighter than existing roof. No warranty offered on roof repairs.

Called for estimate. Prompt and professional. Sent back signed contract. Scheduled work. Large crew showed up and went right to work. As I said above, so far the roof is holding.

They came to the property promptly when scheduled and provided a detailed extimate with pictures and diagrams of the roof. We were hoping for a roof repair, but the roof was old and was in need of being replaced. Two other roofer were to give estimates. One of the never showed up and the other failed to show on the day scheduled, but came on another date. The two estimates received were within $49 dollars of each other; however, the warranty on the labor by Bone Dry was by far better. There labor warranty matches the manufacures warranty on the shingles. We went with Bone Dry Roofing. The roof was for rental property, but when my home needs a new roof, we will be going with Bone Dry. The gentleman that headed the crew that installed the roof was Carl. He was very friendly, knowledgable, and professional. Louie who came out and did the estimate was also very prompt and on time for his appointment. When he learned how close the estimates were he agreed to match the other companies esimate. With this discount and the discount through Angie's List I saved almost $250.00. Nobody wants to have to replace their roof. It is an expensive project, but Bone Dry made it lot less painful. I feel like I got a great product at a good price, and with a great warranty. Thanks to Angie's List I was able to find this wonderful roofer and saved more than the cost of my membership.

Estimator was prompt, courtious and explained every part of the repair needed. The repairman was exactly the same way, overall very pleased!

Overall the experience for the roof repair was very good. The roof specialist for "Bone Dry" was very knowledgeable, and showed me pictures in areas that was leaking from flashing. The roofers, did the work within 5 days of the initial call. They were no more leaks, even after the severe storms and excessive rain. I would recommend this company.

Incredible. The workers showed up early and managed to complete the work in just one day. They were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. We also had incredible response from the managers to a concern we had about the work. When we are ready to replace our entire roof we will definitely call Bone Dry Roofing.

The job was done on a day when I was at work. Since the roof hasn't leaked since it was repaired, I assume the problem was fixed. Bone Dry cleaned up and I didn't even know there had been a repair!

This is an outstanding company. They were professional, prompt, and efficient from start to finish. I particularly appreciated their keeping me informed of the progress every step of the way. The crew who did the actual work were composed of some of the hardest working people I've ever seen. They worked every minute they were here, in the extreme heat. They were pleasant and professional. They left me with a beautiful roof and little evidence that they had ever been here - cleanup was fabulous. If you need a roofer, these guys are the ones!

The estimator and workman were both prompt and courteous. The workman cleaned up well afterwards. We haven't had any rain since then, so I'm waiting to be sure it's really watertight! Update: The skylight is still leaking, actually worse than before the repair.

Bone Drys crew showed up on time and knocked out all the roof work in one day and the masonry work was done in two phases. They always call when they are on the way to let you know they will be there. They are very professional and courtious. The crews always clean up after themselves and removed all of the trash and debris.
