My chimney was very poorly constructed and we noticed mortar pieces on our deck. Bone Dry came over- Jon Boswell- and gave us an estimate. He took pictures and explained the problems that we had. He gave us several options for repair with different prices for short term fix vs long term fix. He was incredibly professional and I felt he was honest. We got several bids but I liked him the best. They performed the work and Jeremy Marowelli was the supervisor. He also was very professional. They draped my deck in tarps the washed everything off and left everything very clean. He took after pictures and compared them with the old pictures to show me what they did. They pointed out other things that they may want to fix in the future elsewhere. They suggested I join Angie's list to get a discount so I did. These guys were very professional and I felt that they were very honest. They did quality work and were clean. It is nice to find a company that cares about their work. They were not the cheapest bid that I got but I am very glad I went with Bone Dry Masonry.

The estimator was on time, thorough, and very professional. The mason that did the tuckpointing work was also very professsional and very hard working and got all of the work done in a timely manner. He did an excellent job of matching the brick. It was truly a perfect match. He ground out all of the damaged mortar and repointed all of the damaged joints. He even took the time to fix some other problem areas that he noticed while working, so I certainly got more than my money's worth in that regard. He also did an excellent cleanup job at the end of the day. When the color of the mortar dried, unfortunately it was a bit off. The mason returned without hesitation and redid the work to get a very good match. It was very clear that customer satsifaction was very important to him and this company.
Description of Work: Bone Dry Masonry did tuckpointing work on areas of my brick home where the mortar was cracked (approximately 150 joints) or missing and replaced approximately 5 cracked bricks.

Bone Dry is quite simply the best company I have worked with in a long time. From start to finish they were so professional, so nice and so courteous. They built us a lovely, rounded top, brick mailbox that matches the brick color of our home perfectly. I got some prices from some individual contractors who were a little cheaper, but only by about $100-$200. I spoke to another local masonry company who said they would not do the mailbox for less than $1100! Bone dry's original cost was $890 for the mailbox because we requested limestone numbers for the front of the mailbox (which look awesome), Bone dry gave us $100 discount for being an Angie's list member! After the mailbox was initially installed there was an issue with what looked like sand covering the mailbox. We were having our driveway redone at the same time the mailbox was being built so it could have been caused by that. When I asked Bone Dry about it, they didn't try to play the blame game and say it was the driveway companies fault, but Jon came out and spent a couple of hours with a wire brush scrubbing the sand off the mailbox. You don't get service like that anymore. And they genuinely cared about the quality of their work, they were not just giving lip service. They also gave a 7 year warranty on any defects with the workmanship of the mailbox including cracks in the mortar joints. We were so pleased with them, we had an idea of who we wanted to redo our garage roof, but after having such a positive experience with Bone Dry we changed our mind and are going with them!
Description of Work: Bone Dry Roofing/Masonry took our old plastic mailbox out, poured concrete footer for our new brick mailbox and built a new brick mailbox for us.

Bone-dry had done some roof repair for me and had mentioned that I had a very small chimney that was is serious need of mortar repair. I had spoken to some folks at the hardware store and they had suggested just removing the loose bricks myself(It was very small, out-of-service, and long since stopped up). Regardless, i didn't really want to get on my roof, which was relatively pitched and 40 feet off the ground, so when I saw the Angie's list coupon for $300 worth of work for $150, I got it. I told them I wanted to spend around the $300 for the coupon, knowing that I just wanted the chimney secured if not removed. Now I have four chimneys of varying sizes, and only one of them is in use. Bone-dry looked at all of them and came back with an over-the-top estimate for over $6,500 to fix everything. I understand that on a 100-year old house one could justify such expense if one had the money, but non-working chimneys are not high on the list of priorities for my money, a fact that I made clear to the estimator. Finally we negotiated a deal for $850 (minus the $300) to do the basic things on the roof to make sure things were safe and secure for another 10-15 years. I don't think anything they did was technically difficult , but I didn't want to get up on my high roof and am not a mason. Regardless, I think that's just the price you pay for a well established reputable contractor like Bone-Dry. Probably could find someone cheaper, but I had already bought the coupon.

I understand now why Louie Leger gets so many positive comments in these reviews. The man worked very hard to help me in a tough situation. After recent storm damage, a number of homes in my neighborhood received complete roof replacements. I called the company used by a neighbor, and had a very tough time getting them to show up to my house (they kept rescheduling.) Finally they came out to meet with my homeowners insurance when I couldn't be there. The insurance representative called to tell me that they would only pay to replace one slope of my house. When I called the roofing company, the salesman said, "Yeah, I was hoping the adjuster would change his mind before he talked to you." Are you kidding?!? It was this frustrating experience that led me to look into Angie's List in the first place. I didn't want to rely on neighbor's recommendations anymore, but instead rely on the collective wisdom of many local residents who had tried different companies. Bone Dry really stood out to me as I read through their reviews. The first positive experience was when Louie Leger arrived when I was told to expect him -- already an improvement from the other roofing company! He did a great job asking questions and making sure he understood my situation working with the insurance company. He explained (quite accurately) that it was going to be a lot more hassle to convince my insurance company to reconsider their decision. Louie, through a series of phone calls, stepped me through the process of contacting the right people, and what to say, to finally get them to agree to come back out and take another look. What finally got their attention was when Louie took pictures showing wind damage to a portion of my roof that the insurance company previously did not believe needed replacement. When the inspector from my insurance company came back, he made a point of apologizing to me for not seeing the damage the first time he was there. The one thing I didn't care for with Bone Dry is that they recommend a particular shingle manufacturer that doesn't always get the best reviews. From my online research, I decided that I would be more comfortable with CertainTeed brand shingles. Louie said there would be no problem using the CertainTeed shingles instead, for which they were also a certified installer. There was no additional cost to me. On the other hand, Bone Dry went above and beyond the call of duty in the installation of my new roof. Rather than reusing existing materials, they installed new flashing, even though it wasn't covered under my insurance. Bone Dry simply matched the total quote to what my insurance company offered to pay for the roof alone. In my mind, this is equivalent to other roofing companies that offer to give you back the deductible on your insurance. I'd rather have the additional work done to make sure the new roof is optimally installed than to have a few hundred bucks in my pocket, but have to worry about something like the flashing failing down the road and requiring more visits from roofing companies. The only added cost I had was to replace the old box vents with a continuous ridge vent. But that was my choice, so I didn't mind paying for that beyond the amount covered by insurance. The installation itself was very well done. The installers arrived when they said they would and were done by mid-evening. To date, I've only found 4 or 5 nails in my yard. I have pretty tall grass, so I thought that was a pretty good clean-up. When we had our next heavy storm, I noticed that one of my gutters was backed up. I didn't know if that had anything to do with Bone Dry's installation. I called the company, and they quickly sent John out to fix it. John was very friendly and professional, cleaned out my gutters free of charge, and even fixed my downspout (which I had messed up myself by hitting it with the lawnmower) for no cost. Excellent service. I now recommend Bone Dry to anyone I know who is looking to replace or repair their roof.

The crew showed early as had been expected and stayed late. The worked very well together and made the work look easy. We enjoyed watching them work. Each seemed to anticipate what the other guy needed and they worked efficiently. We were also impressed with the foreman on our roof. He came by quite often to bring cases of water and bags of ice for his crew. The temperature was near 100 the days they were here. Any thing we had questions about, the foreman would answer to our satisfaction. If we ever need another roof, we would use this same company. We live in a patio home and our neighbor in the other side of our unit used Bone Dry as well. We all felt like we made the right choice in choosing this Company.
Description of Work: Our roof was damaged on April 28th due to hail from a storm. Our insurance company sent an inspector out to check our roof. We were suprised when the inspector told us we needed a new roof. Then started the process of finding a reputable roofer to do the job. We were inundated with calls and people stopping by to ask if we needed a new roof. We chose to go to Angie's list to find our roofer. I chose three on the list and started calling for appointments. The first one did not impress us at all. He was not very good at his job even though he told us he had been doing this for years. Needless to say, we scratched him from our list. We found that all but one of the companies we contacted just wanted us to give them our estimates from our insurance company and then they would do the work for that amount. They were not interested in looking at our roof for themselves to make an estimate. Therefore, we decided they were not what we were looking for either. I called the company I first found on Angie's list that was rated A and called them. Unlike the other companies there was a person to answer the phone and actually gave us an appointment right then. No call backs were needed. Jon Sobral was sent out to give us an estimate and he didn't want to see the insurance company's report until he had looked over our roof and made his own assessment. I was very impressed with him. He got back to us and gave us his estimate within a couple of days. We signed a contract shortly after that and were told our roof would go on the the next couple of weeks. The next week they were here to do our roof.

Our roof was damaged in the last hail storm. After checking Angie's list, I called at least 8 companies for an estimate. Many of them did not even return my call. Bone Dry Roofing called me back immediately and set an appointment for an estimate. Jon arrived on time for the estimate and was very thorough, explaining all details. After 2 other estimates, there was really no comparison on the professionalism of Bone Dry. I travel a good deal for my job, and they were willing to work with me with the scheduling of the work. They ran into a problem with another job and had to reschedule my roof, but kept me informed. They arrived right on time and did an amazing job. Everything was cleaned up and the roof looks great. The thing that really makes Bone Dry Roofing stand out is their understanding and compassion. My family experienced a death on the actual day of the roofing job. Needless to say, I was not in any shape to discuss the business of our roof. I was told "not to worry about it" and just contact them the following week to take care of payment. How many companies would do that! When Jeremy arrived with the final bill, I was also given a card expressing their sympathy for my loss.I feel like I have a friend in "Bone Dry Roofing" and would not hesitate to recommend them and would most certainly use them again. In a world where there are so many unethical companies just wanting to make a buck, it is refreshing to find a company with values.

Sorry we couldn't do work for you. In our experience when there's that big of a difference between us and another company it is because we are using materials that they are not which is why we give a lifetime warranty and they don't. Our warranty is also transferable and more than likely their's is not. It would have been very easy for us to match their price but it would have involved us taking away materials that your roof needs in order to last and that's not something that we take part in. There's also other factors involved when it comes to generating a pricing. Please keep in mind that our crews work for us not multiple companies and we are fully licensed, bonded, and insured. When looking at a proposal you need to make sure that the proposal is an apples to apples comparison before you look at the price. A pricing can be cheaper on the front end but be double or triple in the back end if you have to do repairs on your new roof to stop a leak. This we have seen all too often. Please keep us in mind if you need anything in the future. thanks, Louie Leger General Manager

Quite simply this is one of the best companies I've ever worked with. From the start when Aaron came out to give me the estimate I felt I was in good hands and was confident this company was shooting me straight. I had several companies come out and give bids but bone dry was the only one who took the time to explain things in great detail how they go about fixing the problem. They gave me 2 options to fix our chimney that was visibly in a state of disrepair - we ultimately chose the more expensive option to tear down and start from scratch. Bone dry was competitive with the other bids I received but I ultimately went with them because they were the most professional. They didn't disappoint. Once I accepted the bid Jon Boswell met me at my house and had brick samples he preselected as best matches based on photos Aaron took when he gave me the estimate. Jon was very patient as my wife & I deliberated on what worked best for us. Jon made extra effort to try to find different brick I found on another website and fully explained what would happen to the time table if we chose this route vs. using readily available brick. Ultimately we decided on brick Jon initially brought out and we weren't disappointed. After the decision was made on the brick Jon immediately scheduled the work to be done. They started the work exactly when they said and worked thru the day in 100+ degree heat. Jon went out of his way to explain what was going throughout the rebuild. All of his guys on site were very professional and kept the job site extremely clean. When they had wrapped up it's as if they were never there the site was so clean. Also to note when Jon and his guys came out that morning I pointed out a brick not part of the chimney (on the front facade of my house) that needed reset and he took care of that at no charge. When I tried to pay him for it he refused - even though it took him about 20 minutes of extra time to fix. After the rebuild Jon explained that he'd be out the next morning to take the forms off the new chimney crown they'd poured and that their roofing division would be out within 2 weeks to take care of the new flashing and shingle replacement. Within 2 weeks their roofing guy put the new flashing and shingles on and it looked great. 30 days after the rebuild Jon came back out and finished up with the waterproofing and called to tell me everything was now done. I was very impressed with this company, the quality of work and their professionalism.

Description of Work: I can't say enough about all of the co-operation that I received from Bone Dry, especially Louie Leger. He was so helpful in so many ways with advise, etc. The job that the Bone Dry crew did on my roof looks fanastic. They were on time, on schedule, cleaned up each day and after the job was finished. The team arrived at about 7:45am. They took great care in moving the objects below that could be moved and covered the plants with tarps. They finished the whole house and garage in the same day at about 6:00pm. They cleaned up all the trash and used a magnet to clean up all the nails that had fallen to the ground. The roof looks great with straight rows.

Estimator was very thorough. Identified areas that needed to be addressed that other estimators did not. Provided a quote independent of insurance appraisal. Discouraged us from purchasing unnecessary features (ridge vent) since it wouldn't have helped us as we had bedrooms in the upstairs space and the house already had cable vents. They actually scheduled us in sooner for our roof replacement than other companies from whom we received quotes. However, the day they were supposed to arrive, they showed up at 2:00 PM instead of at 6:00 AM as promised. However, the Manager then sent a 10-man crew instead of the originally planned 8-man crew, and they still finished most of the roof before nightfall. They were very thorough. Stripped the roof down to the wood. Found a few areas where there was rotten wood and replaced it. They worked amazingly well as a team. Some would haul up the shingles, and distribute them to the people lower down who were actually nailing the roofing tiles, and they nailed them by hand. It would seem like this might take longer, but they were very experienced and efficient. Meanwhile some on the ground continued to clean up the debris from the old roof. They also sent out a mason to look at our chimney, and it appears that it will need repair work in the future. None of the other roofing companies seemed to offer that service. They added an extra layer of roofing material over our patio that has a more shallow grade. We purchased a life time GAF Timberline Charcoal shingle, and the only thing that was not quite what I expected was the color itself -- it appears more monotone than what was on the swatch. All in all, I do have the assurance that the roof will stand the test of time, was professionally applied, they did their best to honor their commitment of completing the roof on the day promised, and they were a very organized and efficient team. I would recommend them to anyone needing a roof replaced.

After a very bad experience with stormchasers wanting to repair hail damage, I looked for highly rated roofers on Angie's List. The reviews for Bone Dry were numerous and categorically positive, with good reason. They were consummate professionals in every respect. They were very friendly, helpful, and communicative at every step of the process. I couldn't recommend them more strongly.

On July 10, 2012, Mr. Christian LeBlanc of Bone Dry Masonry came out to give me an estimate on replacing the vinyl mailbox inside my brick mailbox stand. The mailbox was mortared inside the stand so it was not a simple case of just pulling the old box out and putting the new box in. The old mailbox would have to be chiseled and then a new one inserted and mortared into place. The old vinyl mailbox is no longer made so it was decided to use a metal mailbox which was a different shape so the mailbox hole would have to be reshaped also. Mr. LeBlanc looked over the situation and explained to me in great detail what the job would entail. He gave me what I considered a reasonable estimate on the spot and I accepted it. The job was scheduled for July 23rd. On that date the brick mason called and said he was on his way. Once here the two of them, John Boswell and Jeremy M. got to work immediately. Removal of the mailbox was a little more difficult than they had anticpated but they persevered and were successful in changing out the mailboxes. Once mortared in, the new mailbox was a perfect fit and looked like it had always been there. John and Jeremy took pride in their work and were very professional yet friendly. They asked me to inspect everything before they cleaned up. I am extremely pleased with their work and would definitely call them again for any brick work. Thank you John and Jeremy for a great job. I really appreciate your promptness in taking care of this problem. Robn Whitesell
Description of Work: I have a brick mailbox stand that sits out along the curb. It was built 16 years ago and over the years the vinyl mailbox that wat mortared inside the stand had warped and become misshapen. The door of the mailbox would no longer close and the mail would get all wet if it rained before the mail was picked up. So I decided that a new mailbox was needed. That was when I made the call to Bone Dry Masonry.

I had a couple of insurance estimates already but then heard about Angie's List and decided to sign up. LUCKILY I read reviews of the company we were going to sign with and they were not good. Once I read Bone Dry's excellent reviews I knew I wanted them to come give an estimate. They were booked up due to the local storm damage so we had to schedule our appointment a couple weeks out. The girls on the phone were very nice. Our estimator was John and he was prompt, polite and friendly. The estimate was right in line with what our insurer, Nationwide, was willing to cover. I felt pretty confident about signing but was unsure about the ridge vent John suggested since I had been doing some reading about venting options online. I wasn't sure it would be enough vent. I called back and asked if one of the "head guys", in this case, Louie, was available to come out and look at the house and get their opinion on venting. Louie came and met my husband and explained he thought we needed the ridge along one slope but that an attic fan would be best for the main part of the house. I was running late so poor Louie had to repeat most of the explanation to me when I got home, but he was very nice about it. He was patient with us while we asked many questions and chose our shingle color. We went ahead and signed the agreement and he said he would call us when they could get us on the schedule. Once we had our date, the day before all the materials were delivered to our driveway as promised. On the day of install, RJ showed up and introduced himself as the foreman and said the crew was going to get started. They proceeded to cover all the windows with boards to protect from falling shingles. The job went smoothly until when my husband came home from work and saw that the attic fan was not installed but that ridge vent was installed along the top portion of our hip roof (not nearly enough venting for the size of the area). We called RJ again and he had to call Louie to verify, then spoke to the head roofer and had them install the attic fan. It turned out even though it was on the estimate, the blueprint plan RJ had didn't indicate the attic fan so the workers thought it was delivered by mistake. After they had loaded up all the debris in the evening, RJ came back to walk around with us and verify that we were satisfied. We only found a couple roofing nails, but in the bushes area, not anywhere we could have stepped on or drove over. We were very pleased with RJ's commitment to a job well done! Later we did have an invoice error but called Holly in the office and it was corrected. We would HIGHLY recommend Bone Dry Roofing. We still have the sign up in our yard a month later in hopes a neighbor will use them so we can get entered in their free trip contest! Do not hesitate to use them as they are truly committed to a job well done and customer satisfaction!
Description of Work: Entire roof replacement, ridge vent over garage area and attic fan installed (but not hooked up) over main house area.

The guy that come out was very personable. He was very nice. He was very professional. He was not able to give as good an estimate as some of the other people that came out and gave me estimate. I did not have any problems with them.
Description of Work: I was looking to get some stairs outside my house re-done. Bone Dry Masonry Louisville would have that done that for me.

I found BONE DRY on Angie's list after a recommendation by my neighbor who also found them on AL. After reading several reviews I contacted BD and a rep was there exactly at the appointed time. I was impressed with the courtesy and professionalism and the patience of dealing with a roofing-challenged customer. Goeffrey explained every step in detail and answered every question in an easily understandable way. I was in. I received no other estimates. The crew arrived early (0745) and went to work. It would be 102 degrees that day. The roof was HAND NAILED on vs. air-gunned. At the end of the day the crew cleaned up and left. The team leader went over the job, gave me his card and asked that I contact him with any questions or concerns. Very professional. The sales manager, Louie, contacted me twice during and after the job (phone and email) to check my satisfaction. Every question was addressed immediately and to my full satisfaction. Well done. Bone Dry has an 'A' rating and I see how they earned it. Professional courtesy and excellent, on-time service. Three thumbs up.
Description of Work: This was a roof/gutter replacement after a hail storm so my insurance company covered most of the cost. However, had it been an out-of-pocket expense, I would be satisfied with the job.
