They are not very responsive. We would call and they would say they would call back. The local office is really bad at returning phone calls. Every time we call, it would take several days or even weeks to get a call back. The did a really poor job. They did a really messy job on the windows and had to come back and clean up the job they did on the windows. My daughter was here telling them how to do their job correctly. After the job on the roof, we had to have them come back twice. First time to clean up all of the nails in the yard and then a second time to get nails out of the attic. The roofing people took off the old roof and threw it onto the tarps, as I was walking out to give them a drink I had made for them, I watched one of them throw some of the old roof off and land on some of my flowers; which destroyed them. They also left a lot of dirty and grime marks all over my white fence. With their supplemental insurance it took quite a while for the to get it filed and even to get it filed correctly at that. After all of these complaints it has taken from June to now to get everything fixed and done properly. I will give them credit for finishing the job but it was just a headache to get it finished. Roofing people in quality would get an A Siding people would get a C Window people would get an F

Member, I am very sorry that you feel this way. Again, as I tried to explain to you when a major storm happens it throws off every companies scheduling. We had to do major projects on your property. I know it seemed like it took a long time but most companies were telling homeowners that it would take 6-8 months to get them completed. There was a couple things that you weren't happy with but as you admit we came back as many times as it took to get it the way that you wanted. If you need anything in the future please do not hesitate to call us. Thank you, Louie Leger General manager

I called bone-Dry because of its high rating on Angie's List. I told tham that we had purchased an expensive fireplace door that did not fit our fireplace. The receptionist said they could fix the problem, and Jon came out and looked at the fireplace and gave me an estimate. I got a call the next day from Jeremy, and he came out later that week and made a cut with a dustless saw. The door now fits perfectly and you cannot tell that the bricks have been cut. The price was fair and I couldn't have been more satisfied.
Description of Work: The bottom of eight bricks were cut to allow a fireplace screen to fit properly.

They first came to the house to estimate the job. I was expecting it to cost several hundred dollars to tuck point the morter. When the estimate was $1600, I was shocked, but I had already paid them $150 for the Angie's coupon, so I agreed to let them do the job. When they did the job, they said it took longer than estimated, but they would not charge me any more. Upon inspecting the work, I found a number of places where morter was missing or cracked. When they came back out to look at it, they said they had not estimated on those places, but they fixed them at no charge. Also, they did not charge me for spray water proofing the bricks as part of my agreement to let them do the job in the first place. When they finished, I was satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: Repaired crumbling morter on brick steps to back door. There were a few loose bricks and two bricks had crumbled and were replaced.

Estimate given by Joe was fabulous. He spent several hours at our property evaluating hail damage and measuring areas for repair. His estimate was thorough and exact. Their price was the middle of 3 estimates. The two competing companies gave sketchy estimates after a glance at the roof. The professional, detailed estimate gave us confidence to use Bone Dry Services. Overall a good experience with the following exceptions. Workers showed up to repair roof without advanced notice and a small amount of debris was not cleaned from the premise. A couple of shingles do not appear flush with the roof that are presently being evaluated by Bone Dry staff for repair consideration. Office staff were very helpful when contacted. Work was done efficiently with minimal disturbance. We received a follow up call to evaluate our satisfaction.

The entire experience was positive and professional from start to finish. My initial call into the office was handled by an operator who gave me a scheduled date to to visit with a sales representative. The representative arrived on time, was extremely polite and professional, and spent over an hour inspecting my roof for damage. I did get other quotes, but the Bone Dry quote was the most readable and understandable. It was also the only one in line with the damage that my insurance agency's inspector also noted. I was also impressed with their diligence to hand-nail all the shingles, which my roofing friends assured me was quality. The work was performed on the specified day. The foreman was extremely polite and accessible. I have a very large roof. The workers tore the old roof off and replaced it with a new one in a single work day. They also cleaned up extremely well. I have a local business in town, and I appreciate good organization and customer service. My experience with Bone Dry was straight A's.

I contacted Bone Dry Roofing in May 2012 to look at my roof for potential hail damage. The owner visited my home and got on the roof and determined that we did have damage and that our roof and gutters needed to be replaced. He wrote up an estimate for me to provide to my insurance company. After contacting our agent, I scheduled an appointment for the insurance adjuster and a Bone Dry rep to look at the roof together. When it was all said and done, we received a check from our insurance company for the services. I contacted Louie to discuss the arrangements. I wanted to upgrade to the three-dimensional roof, as that was Bone Dry's recommendation, and also wanted gutter guards. When I spoke to Louie, we looked at the insurance forms together and came up with a specific price that we would spend out-of-pocket to get the desired upgrades. I scheduled a time for Louie to come by our home and make our first payment. Once Louie arrived, he gave us a quote a $1,000 more than what we had agreed upon a couple weeks prior. I explained that was a different price than what we had discussed. He had nothing written down from our discussion and started the whole calculation process from scratch; totally disregarding anything we had discussed. My husband and I told him we would get back to him if we decided to proceed. By this time it was September and we had been working on this for four months. We were left to start from scratch, which we indeed did. In the meantime, I left messages at the Bone Dry office to speak to the owner, which he never contacted me and Louie did not follow-up either. The whole process was very time-consuming and it would take a few days to a week to hear back, and to then schedule a meeting a couple weeks after that. I believe Bone Dry means well, but that they might get too caught up in all of their customers and lose focus on the service. If you choose to use Bone Dry in the future, please make sure to get everything in writing, as that was my biggest mistake.

Member, I'm sorry you feel this way. Wish there was something that we could have done but as we talked about these things were out of our control. As we tell every customer when the insurance company comes out what they do is an estimate. It is strictly an estimate. Their cover page of their packet explains this. Please keep in mind that when the there's a difference in price between us and insurance almost always it's going to be because of the materials that we use. Our job is to make your roof not leak and give you a warranty to give you comfort that you have a quality project. At times the insurance company doesn't want to pay for materials that's needed to make that roof not leak and that makes it difficult for contractors. Also, please keep in mind that during this time the manufactures had a 14% price increase to everyone. These type of things are somtimes out of our control. Unfortunately, sometimes manufactures decide to raise their prices and contractors just have to figure it out. Of course we wanted to get your house taken care of but we wouldn't have done right by you if we didn't use all the proper materials. Again, I'm very sorry that it didn't work out. Please keep us in mind in the future if you need anything. -Louie Leger General Manager

It took him about an hour and a half to complete his inspection adn assesment. he provided all the details and was extrmely thourough. I cannot wait to see the work that they complete. There are no dont's. All dos. We will certainly use them again if needed.
Description of Work: The builder of our home did not construct the chimney properly. It was leaking inside our attic and the brick they used did not match the brick on our home. We called Bone Dry Masonry and they said the chimney would have to be taken down and totally replaced. From the estimate to the completion every employee involved in this project conducted themselves with total professionalism. Bone Dry Masonry removed the old chimney, re-inforced the structure, then completely re-built the chimney. The chimney looks great and finally matches the brick on our home. They installed a stainless steel rain guard and new caps. My wife and I were really impressed with their work and professionalism and will use them in the future if we need work done.

We had a leak from the chimney into the house and Aaron came out the end of July to inspect the damage and give an estimate. A new cap was needed but there was damage to the housing and roof that would have to be inspected and estimated also. The housing and roof repair had to be done first. That process took until September 27. The entire time Aaron was checking on the housing so they could complete the cap insulation. After the roof, completion the cap had to be resized. John came out and completed the cap. The work was excellent and we are dry.

We had a leak from the chimney into the house and Jon came out August 4 to inspect the damage and give an estimate, per masonry inspection. An estimated was received August 7. Our only issue was the delay in start date. We had to contact the office several times to establish the progress of the repair. Louie (general manager) and Lance (roof repairman) came out September 26 to inspect the estimated job and provide any clarification needed. The actual work was completed September 27. Lance was very professional. He completed in one day and his work was excellent. Would definitely use the roofing and/or masonry divisions of Bone Dry.

Don?t bother with getting any estimates from other companies. Bone-dry has very professional people working for them. I usually have to partially supervise any work that is being done on my home to make sure it meets the contract agreement. Bone-dry did everything that was requested. Bone-dry tore off 3 layers of damaged brick, extended chimney height to code, installed 4 inch chimney cap and tuck pointed over 90 spots on the chimney. They did an excellent cleanup job at the end of the day. New mortar and brick match very close for a 35 year old chimney. They came back a month later to apply sealant to chimney as contracted without me having to call them.
Description of Work: The chimney cap was deteriorating and need to be replaced. Also, I noticed several spalled and cracked bricks and many spots where mortar was falling out. Received estimates from 4 other BBB A+ companies. All were unacceptable. I also discovered that the chimney height was not to current code.

With the previous storms we had in Louisville, we had some roof damage and needed help. After an inspection from our insurance company, several roofing companies and Bone Dry, we knew we needed more than just help. We did need an entire roof tear off and replacement on our house and garage. We were provided a written estimate that same night of the inspection with material cost, labor break downs, some recommendations to better ventilation and protection from the elements. After careful consideration from all the companies, Bone Dry proved to be more equipped to handle the task at hand and was less than the "other guys." Their pricing was spot on compared to our insurance company, they offered the best time frame and had everything needed to complete the job in a very quick time frame. We set an appointment up a couple weeks in advance, materials were delivered the day prior as promised, the crew was here that morning to start right on time. They promised the job would be done in one full day, I was doubtful but Bone Dry delivered!! Complete tear off of the house, garage and both structures had a new roof installed in less than 8 hours! That was amazing in my opinion, complete job done, cleaned up with no nails in the yard to be found! They promised, they delivered and everything was the way it should be, complete and finished!! Thank you Bone Dry!
Description of Work: As with all storms, comes damage of some kind. We had some repairs that needed to be made, or so we thought. We need major roof work, it boiled down to our roof was damage beyond repair, so the guys at Bone Dry came for an estimate.

Their people were great to work with. They were friendly and really seemed to do well. There were a couple of people that were not able to communicate with me because they were not of our nationality so they always had to have a foreman come over. I even had to call them back on something. Overall they were very friendly and they couldn't have fixed what I called them back on the first time because the mortar had to dry. Bone Dry Roofing was really slow in getting me my quote, but they sent me a nice email saying that they were sorry about the delay. They were really overpriced and the quote was over $9,000. It took them probably a month from the time they came out to my home to give me the estimate and I just got it a week ago. I had called once or twice and told them that I didn't receive their quote and they told me they'll get back in contact with me and then he sent the quote and apologized and offered the discount for the Angie's List referral. They did come out quickly after all, but they just didn't give me the quote back and I felt like they should have followed back up with me sooner.

We got 5 estimates before deciding to select Bone Dry for the job. Their estimate was not the lowest but, once we talked to Jon and Jeremy we were convinced the job would be done to our expectations. We must admit that the job was done beyond our expectations. Bone Dry is one of the most professional companies that we have ever hired to do a job of this caliber for us. They arrived when promised and worked in a timely manner that enabled them to finish the job when promised. They explained each and every step of the procedure to us making sure that we understood and were more than happy to answer absolutely any question that we had. They made sure that before starting the job anything that might possibly get damaged was covered with plywood. Once the job was completed, they cleaned up thoroughly. Jon and Jeremy made us feel like we could put our complete trust in this company doing the job right and we found that we were not disappointed. As we watched the job being done, we felt very secure and very peaceful about the money that we were spending. There is no question in our minds. We would most definitely do business with Bone Dry again! Thanks so much Jon and Jeremy for a job well done!

We purchased a house recently. We had the roof inspected prior to the purchase, so we thought all was well. After a recent rain storm, we had water coming through the ceiling in the entry way of the house. I've used Bone Dry in the past, so I called them out to inspect the roof and find the damage. The inspection revealed that the roof section above the porch was improperly installed which allowed water to run under the shingles and into the house. Additionally, the inspection revealed a lot of hail damage. (The lesson here is to have a roofing company that you trust inspect your roof.) Bone Dry provided two quotes. One to repair the section over the porch, and one to replace the entire roof. We decided to replace the entire roof. We must have been fortunate with the schedule, because they were able to start the job within 2 weeks. On the day of the project, I was called by the project leader to let me know they were on the way. The crew showed up promptly and went to work. The job was completed the same day. They took care to not damage any of the surrounding area and cleaned up the job site as they worked. My experience with Bone Dry was excellent, and I would recommend them to anyone.

After calling around to several companies for estimates, Bone Dry was one of two that could come out in any reasonable amount of time, and the only one that actually showed up on time for the appointment. Their rep was great and quoted us a competitive estimate, so we went with them. They worked with our insurance to help us figure out who was paying for what and how much, so we knew exactly how much we had to come up with, up front (insurance, unfortunately, did not pay for the whole thing). The workers were prompt on the day we had scheduled for the work to be done. I was especially impressed with the care they took to keep the work site (our yard) tidy - debris was placed directly into dumpsters or on tarps to keep the nails and things from getting everywhere, and boards were leaned against the house over my plants to protect them from anything that fell. They even ran magnets over the yard to find any nails that were still lying around before they left - I think I only found one afterwards in one of my potted plants, that nobody who wasn't digging in them would have seen. Another rep checked everything over after the work was done and walked us around to make sure we were happy. Overall, a great experience, and we will be using them in the future if needed.
Description of Work: Our roof had some hail and wind damage from recent storms - facia torn off, shingles missing, vents damaged. The roof needed to be replaced after the damage. After an excellent experience with the rep who did our estimate, we chose Bone Dry to do the work. Their people were on time, did their job efficiently, cleaned up after themselves, and were done the same day. Three months later, no problems.

I called Bone Dry Roofing because of their high standing with Angie's List. I need to have my roof replaced due to hail damage. My initial contact with them was positive. Kevin P. came out to provide the estimate on 7/27/2012. It was more than my insurance adjuster estimated and I think that's why they were not responsive. I called Kevin to ask a couple of questions about the gutter replacement but got his voice mail. I left a message and got no response. I left a second message and he called me back and I got my questions answered. I signed the proposal he gave me with the words "Pending insurance approval" as he directed and returned it to Kevin via email with the expectation that they would call and come to an agreement with my insurance company. That was on 8/14/2012. Today is 9/27/2012 and since then, I've called, left voice mails and sent emails. Kevin has called me back twice, both times saying that he's sorry and that they are working on it. I've left two voice mails and sent an email since 9/15/2012 and I've heard nothing back. If I can't get this company to call me before they do the work or even get a check, how am I going to get them to call me afterwards if something goes wrong? Complete let down; I had hoped Bone Dry would be more responsive. I understand they are a bit busy but the hail storm that caused this damage was in April; things have slowed down since then. I at least deserve a call, even if it's to say we can't come to terms with your insurance company. I'm moving on...hopefully the next company is more responsive. 4/17/2013 UPDATE: As indicated by the response from Bone Dry, I was contacted regarding my problems. The person who called me assured me that they would look into my contract and get back to me. That never happened. The last contact was an unreturned voicemail I left him over 6 months ago. Today, I got an email from Brad Kupper at Bone Dry regarding the hail storm last night and the possible roof damage and maybe Bone Dry should come out to inspect the roof....uh, no.
Description of Work: No services were provided because I couldn't get them to call me back.

Response from Bone Dry Roofing & Masonry - Louisville
Member, I'm not sure where the ball got dropped but I assure you I will look into it. The storm was so big that we have haven't slowed down. With that being said i would still like to take care of you. With winter coming it is causing some panic to some homeowners. I assure you we will get to as many people as we can. We want to help as many people as possible so we can make sure that they are using a quality contractor. Please be patient with us. This is the bad side of storms because it can throw our normal scheduling completely off. We are at the mercy of suppliers and availability of materials because so many people are placing orders. With that being said our communication needs to always be top of the line. You also have to keep in mind that when the adjuster from the insurance company comes out that is just an initial estimate. The first page of their paperwork normally explains this. We need to keep in mind that adjusters are human too and they make mistakes. That is why unlike other companies we take the time to review the paperwork and compare it to ours to see where differences are coming from. I will contact you on this matter. Thank you, Louie Leger General manager

gutter repair, roofing, siding, replacement windows

We, like many in our area, suffered hail damage during a storm in May of 2012. Our insurance adjuster approved us for a new roof, siding, gutters and window wraps. After doing our research on Angie's List, we ultimately selected Bone Dry because (1) they had outstanding customer reviews and (2) they stated they were able to complete ALL of the above-listed work. We signed the paperwork in late May. At that time, we informed our salesperson, Jon Sobral, our desire to have the work started during a particular week in June since the boys and I would be on vacation, but my husband would still be in town to answer any questions and review work. We were told this should not be a problem Mid-week of the requested time frame, my husband called and spoke with Mr. Sobral and was advised the work had not been scheduled and would not be performed during the requested time slot. Upon my return from vacation, I spoke with Louie and told him our concern over scheduling. We were told to deal directly with him. The roofing job was then scheduled for the end of June, but the rest of the work would not be completed until July. The roofing was completed during the scheduled time period and mostly to our satisfaction; however, the workers damaged the metal flashing which connected our shingled roof with our metal deck roof, causing it to leak in several locations. When first confronted about this, the Bone Dry representative attempted to explain it away as hail damage until I pointed out the footprints on the metal flashing. A crew was then "scheduled" for the remainder of the work. Bone Dry would tell me a specific day and time, but more often than not, show up until much later, the next day or I would call to find it had been cancelled. The first attempt at window wraps and siding was a DISASTER!!. A crew came down from Cincinnati. It was amateurish at best with no consistency between windows, buckling, wrinkling, siding cut too short, mismatched screws, holes and caulking my children could have done better. When the manager came out, he took pictures and agreed the work had to be completely torn out and redone. It was so bad, I not only took pictures but also video of the shoddy work. The next crew was from Indianapolis. While the work was much better, there were still issues with consistency, wrinkling, siding cut too short, and an exposed hole near the backyard security light. I guess the third time really is the charm, because that is when the work was finally done to our satisfaction - meaning a manageable punch list. As it turns out, Bone Dry does not employ a siding/window crew in the Louisville area. Instead, they have crews from nearby cities come down and do the work. I was told by a Bone Dry representative Louisville only had roofing staff available and siding and window wraps were only offered as a courtesy to their customers. I don't need that kind of courtesy. As stated at the beginning, I chose them in part because I thought they (meaning the Louisville group) could complete all the requested work. What should have taken a couple of weeks at most to complete took the entire summer. While I would recommend Bone Dry as an adequate roofing contractor, I would NEVER recommend them for siding, gutters or window wraps. Use a local contractor instead - I would have if I had known. The only reason they did not receive an "F" is the work was finally completed to our satisfaction, but time will tell. Also, good luck getting the $100 Visa gift card they offer as a referral incentive. We did refer them for roofing to a neighbor who used them, but no gift card.
Description of Work: We hired Bone Dry to replace our shingle roof, gutters, partial gutter guards, siding and window wraps.

Response from Bone Dry Roofing & Masonry - Louisville
Member, I am very sorry to hear that this is your opinion of Bone Dry. Our company has several offices in multiple cities and we are very open with that information. It is also all over our literature that we give to every homeowner. When an area gets hit with a major catastrophe as big as the one that happened in Louisville our other offices comes to help us get to as many homeowners as possible. This storm affected over 60,000 properties. We depend on our main office at times like this because they have more resources. We find that this better than us going down the street and getting some workers that know nothing about our company and how we operate. Bone dry is not perfect company but we were at your property as many times as we needed to be in order to get things to your satisfaction. Most contractors would have stop answering their phones and just disappeared. We answered ever email, every phone call, and scheduled several appointments to make it right. I am glad at the end we were able to get everything taken care of for you and thanks for giving us the chance to make it right. Please don't hesitate to call if you need anything in the future. Thank you, Louie Leger General manager
