Description of Work: We contacted Bob Ray in October to have 2 large trees and one smaller cut down. They responded quickly to our call and gave us an estimate. We also received 2 other estimates which one was much higher and the other about the same. We like dealing with local neighborhood companies and they had a good reputation so we went with Bob Ray. They were unable to start the work until the beginning of December due to the weather and the soggy yard that they needed to drive the large equipment on. One of the trees they used the cherry picker and the other 2 had to be climbed and cut down. It took 2 days to complete the work. They were punctual, very polite and kept us informed as they went. The men did a good job of cleaning up the debris as they were going along and also at the end of the job. I would definitely hire them again.

 + -1 moreI was satisfied with their services, they did what they said they were going to do, they were punctual, and the tree survived, they saved the tree. They are arborists, as opposed to people who chop down trees.
Description of Work: I use Bob Ray Company, Inc. for my tree service. The last time they were here, they did some trimming and they treated a diseased tree that I had.

 + -1 moreThe first time he came out he did a consultation and didn't charge anything. Then we ask him to come out and he diagnosed the problem with the bores right away as the leaves were turning black.

 + -1 moreScheduling was a breeze, they showed up on time and spent over an hour removing the stump, removing the extra debris with a rake and leveling the sod where the grinder's tires had left minor tracks in the wet sod from recent rains. This job was for my Mother-in-law and she was as pleased as I was. I will definitely use Bob Ray again.

Description of Work: I called on July 18th for an estimate on some tree limbs in my backyard gave the lady all of my information including contact info and was told that an arborist would contact me within 24 to 48 hours upon my call and have yet to hear from anyone. I would not use there service in the future.

Had to actually come back a second time to get the job done as originally specified. They completed the work as they said they would. I am satisified with their work and plan on calling them again for further tree work.

 + -1 moreAlright I guess. $1100 for 3 1/2 hours work seems a little steep. Since it took 3 weeks to receive the bill, I had time to guesstimate what the final cost would actually be. My guesstimate was way off. On a postitive note, at least it was $12.00 less than what it could have been.
Description of Work: Had dead limbs removed from two trees. Took about 3 hours, which was not nearly as long as I was told it would take when I got the estimate. I guess by telling me it would take most of the day to do it, it made the estimate of "not more than $1100" seem a reasonable charge. I just went with them without getting any other estimates since I know they have highly skilled and certified arborists doing the work. The trees look good and my new garage roof directly under one of the trees didn't get damaged in the process. I'm sure I could have gotten the job done for less, but I probably wouldn't have felt as comfortable. I was also very pleased that they could schedule my job within just a few days after I got the estimate. I didn't want the trees to have already dropped their leaves and make the identification of the dead branches a bit more difficult.

 + -1 moreInitital request for work was initiated around September 2009. Work was completed in December 2009 after all leaves had dropped from trees. When I asked how they would know which branches were dead on the trees now that the leaves were gone, I was told 'we're professionals... we can tell'. When trees leafed out in the spring, it was obvious some dead branches were missed. To my knowledge, no one from Bob Ray has been out to revew work that was done. I did receive a message from someone in the office related to payment. I've used Bob Ray in the past with no issues, however, based on this latest experience I will not use them in the future.
Description of Work: Bob Ray Co. was hired to trim dead wood off 2 large oak trees, as well as, to do selective pruning of some smaller trees.

 + -1 moreThey did a great job. Came as scheduled and stayed all day until they completed the work, as promised. They cleaned up the area well, and even took away some collected yard waste that was nearby but not part of the job. Since my yard has many, many trees, I'm sure I will be using the Ray company again. They were excellent.
Description of Work: They took down the limbs of a massive 60-year old sugar maple tree that was half-dead. I asked them to leave the trunk for wildlife habitat. While other company representatives had scoffed at that suggestion and tried to convince me it was a bad idea, this company rep. did not. Work was completed in one day and nothing was damaged in the process. It was a huge job which they did efficiently and expertly.
