Description of Work: Chimney was swept, the inspector prior to purchasing our new home said the plates inside the chimney were cracked. The Chimney Dr said that the cracks were nothing to worry about. It was nice to be told that we didn't have to pay for something we didn't need.

Description of Work: The Chimney Doctor showed up ready to work at the appointed hour. He did a thorough inspection of the problem and gave advice on how to fix the problem. He charged a fair amount for the hour he was here. I was more than satisfied with his work!

Description of Work: Chimney Doctor recently converted my gas fireplace back to wood-burning, replaced the chimney crown, and repaired several bricks on the outside of the chimney. I am confident that the work was well done, but I thought the price to be quite high. I will need to shop around for further brick work and tuckpointing.

Description of Work: checked a gas fireplace that had stopped working. They were honest and upfront that the make of the fireplace was something they were not familiar with,and if the problem was with the mechanics of the structural specifics that I should call a company that installs them. However, based on my explanation of what was happening, they said it could just be a clogged gas pipe. They took the pipe apart and cleaned it. Then the fireplace worked fine. Because they weren't sure if the problem was definitely solved, they didn't charge anything. very honest and professional

Description of Work: This started out to be installation of a chimney liner. But our very old, existing fireplace insert/stove could not be connected to the liner. We bought a new insert from a local dealer and Chimney Doctor came back and installed both the new liner and the new insert. He was very accommodating and did a great job, even though installing fireplace inserts was not something he had done previously.

 + -1 moreSteve showed up on time and did a good job with efficiency. He cleaned the fireplace and chimney per my groupon. He thoroughly inspected everything and gave me recommendations for repiars . All recommendations were supported by photographs of the chimney above the roof. I didn't fell "pressured" to commit to anything. He gave me facts, recommendations and cost estimate without over-selling. There were no surprises and everything was satisfactory.
Description of Work: The technician showed up on time to do a chimney sweep and inspection of the chimney and fireplace.

 + 1 moreI called on a Friday morning to make an appointment, and Brian actually came out the same day. He did a thorough job and left the place cleaner than he found it. He explained the kind of fireplaces I have (pre-fab) and explained a couple of simple maintenance tasks I could do that would save me significant amounts of money. He could have charged several hundred dollars extra for one of those but willingly told me how I could avoid that unnecessary expense. Quick, professional service along with tips for saving money. What more could you ask for?
Description of Work: We'd had two fireplaces converted for use with gas logs but needed the chimneys cleaned. Brian cleaned both chimneys (one of which was filthy) and inspected the fireboxes and chimney caps.

 + 3 moreBrian was awesome. I called on a Friday morning and left a message describing what we needed done to the chimney/fireplace at our new home. He returned my call within minutes and said he could come out the next morning- a Saturday- at 9:00. He even called to say he'd be a little late, which was very nice. He let me "hang over his shoulder" the entire time, so I could learn about what he was doing. He gave great advice and was very honest and personable. Almost like having a buddy come over to do the work. We didn't plan on doing the tuck-pointing, but saw it needed to be done so he took care of that for extra. He also took some time to quote a couple prices on some suggested work for next year. Prompt, great guy, knows what he's doing. Will definitely use his service again.
Description of Work: Brian came out to switch the fireplace from gas log to wood burning with a gas starter. He also preformed a general inspection, repaired some missing mortar (tuck pointing) and made some adjustments to the damper.

 + 2 moreCame at the appointed time for the estimate. Started work in less than a week. Did a fine job finding bricks to match the rest of the chimney. Actually did more than the contract called for at no additional charge. The new chimney looks better than the original. Very pleased. Am planning to have more work done in the concrete masonry area and will use them again. The price for the work was more than fair. Would recommend them highly.

He wrote up an estimate for a new Locktop damper installation, repair of crown, and repair of fireplace crack. We plan to use him to do these further repairs after we make more inquiries on price.
