Kelvin Howard Roofing

Kelvin Howard and his team of workers did an excellant job of repairing and replacing our roof. We had several estimates on needed repairs from several roofing companies. Kelvin was very punctual in calling me back and getting me the information I needed. He would always follow-up if he was not going to be there when he told me he would. The work was completed on time. Clean up was fabulous! Would definitely recommend him again!

I would definitely recommend Kelvin's services. I had a somewhat mysterious series of leaks in my roof. A plumber was working from below, and Kelvin worked from above to solve the mysteries. The problems turned out to be all in the roofing category. Kelving patched things up, and then told me to be very observant the next time it rained. We had a very hard rain within a couple of days and I stood under the areas he repaired and saw that everything was bone dry. Great! Not only was Kelvin great with the work itself, but he was very flexible with the timing of the estimate and the scheduling of the job. He explained what was wrong with my roof, which I really appreciated. I get the sense that Kelvin runs a pretty small operation but this does not mean he is not thoroughly professional. I imagine that my experience was better than it would have been with one of the bigger roofing services providers.

I contacted 3 contractors to provide estimates for replacing my 15 year old roof. My shingles had worn down to the fiberglass and would not make it through another winter. All of the estimates were in the same price range though Kelvin was slightly higher. During the inspection, Kelvin asked detailed questions about my roof. I mentioned that we had noticed a small leak spot in the garage. He immediately found the cause and sealed it - before I hired him for the job. and quot;No charge,and quot; he said. and quot;I was up there so I took care of it.and quot; Never had a contractor do that before. After reviewing references and Angie's List, I selected Kelvin. I've done a few roofing jobs in my younger days. This guy knew what he was talking about! He didn't put a hard sell on. He just knew his business. After 35 years in the business, he's seen it all. Kelvin gave me several options on the roofing materials (color, durability, warranty, price), recommended additional roof vents as an option, and got me a great deal on a new skylight that I wasn't sure that I could afford, but desperately needed. In the end, he saved me enough money on materials that I could afford it. Best decision of the whole job. I love the new skylight and don't have to worry about leaks around the old one which was a brittle old plastic piece of garbage waiting on a disaster. We agreed on the price and he told me he could start in about 2 weeks. He got me a terrific price on the materials - much cheaper than I could have bought them myself. I ordered them directly from his supplier on Friday before work commenced on Monday. (The advantage to this method? No chance of mechanic's liens being filed if the contractor doesn't pay for the materials. I paid for them myself.) They were delivered on Tuesday. Kelvin wanted to start on Monday so he went by the supplier and picked up felt, nails, etc. so that he could get started. At 9 a.m. on Monday, he and his crew showed up - just as promised. He has a small family business. His crew is small and all are family members or close friends. Four workers in all. They worked hard in blistering heat with few breaks. They were off the roof when it got really hot to prevent damage to the shingles. I was impressed with their efficiency. The job was done on Wednesday afternoon by 1:30 p.m. Good communication throughout the project. I really didn't have to worry about anything. I had confidence that Kelvin was on top of things, literally. He was on the roof himself the entire time - working and supervising. They cleaned up the worksite each day and made sure that we could get our vehicles in and out of the garage. They couldn't have been more accommodating or courteous. Kelvin and his crew explained what they were doing each step of the way. They also used 5-6 nails per shingle (I counted) - not 4 nails like some other contractors I've seen in the neighborhood. This roof is not going anywhere unless we have a tornado or hurricane, God forbid. Folks, this is not a fly-by-night get-in get-out in a day kind of company. They take extreme pride in their work. They put on a roof like it is their own. I really appreciated the care that they took in making sure that the job was done right and that I was happy. NO BS with this company. Best of all, when the job was done, they cleaned up everything, loaded the extra shingles and supplies up, returned them to the supplier, and I received a generous refund to my credit card. That's never happened to me before! Kelvin will be back to check out my roof fromt time to time if we ever get any rain to test it. I could not be happier with Kelvin and his crew. They make their money the old fashioned way. They earn it. Kelvin is honest, hardworking and professional. I could not be happier. I've already recommended him to dozens of friends. There is a reason he has high ratings. He's earned them. I wish there were more contractors out there like him. I highly recommend him and his company.

We had an inspection done on our house before selling last year. The inspection came back with water flooding into the attic after a big rain. We were so worried that it would be a big expense. I called one company and set up an appointment but they couldn't come out for two weeks. I tried Mr. Howard and he said he could come out the following morning. After assessing the situation, he said that he could repair it for around 250.00. He fixed it the next day and were able to move forward with the closing.

Estimated repair work needed and cost, helped work with ins co. to get work done. On first visit fixed long term problem 3 others missed and did it for free. Very experienced, honest and reliable. Needed to be reminded sometimes to continue planned steps.

As of now I have not seen more water damage, so I hope the repairs worked. I will keep checking. Mr. Howard said if any more leakage occurred he would return at no additional charge.

I can't say enough good things about Kelvin. He was the lowest bid and helped us order the materials from Lowe's. He included the materials in the bid, but we needed to finance some of the cost, so he helped us with Lowe's. He and his men worked every day it didn't rain or snow but it was pretty darn cold when they worked. The men were all very courteous and cleaned up the mess.

They were very professional and did great work.

We had a leak in our upstairs bathroom. I called Kelvin and left a message and he called me back very quickly. He met us at the house about an 30 minutes later and gave us an estimate about 200 dollars less than another estimate we got! We had him go ahead and fix the flashing that was leaking in 2 places on our roof, the same day! He was fast, honest and effective. I would definitely recommend him!

We had a roof leak that was allowing water to come in and drip down from the ceiling of the downstairs bathroom. We discovered this problem on Monday, September 5, 2011 after a really heavy rain. After 2 different roofers failed to show up on Tuesday and Wednesday, I decided to subscribe to Angie's List and pick a roofer that their members recommended. Kelvin Howard Roofing had good ratings so I gave him a call on Thursday, September 8th around noon. Kelvin himself answered the phone and, after I explained our problem, he said that he could come out around 5:00 that same day after I got home from work. He showed up as promised and made some repairs to the roof above where the bathroom is. He said he felt that his repairs had fixed the leak but we wouldn't know for sure until the next few rains. I am happy to report that, so far, 5 months and numerous rains later, we haven't had any more water come in over the bathroom. I would definitely call Kelvin Howard Roofing for my future roofing needs!

He came on a bittercold day (same day that I called him) and did not hesitate to go up and do an inspection. Reported no major problems with the roof but some gaping of the metal sheets between the chimney wall and roof, which he promptly nailed down.He was very curteous and open about the job and work he did.

I was a little nervous trying to find a roofer at first. I had more than one estimate. What I appreciated about Kelvin is that he and his crew are honest hardworking guys (his crew is primarily all family members). Kelvin told me exactly what he would do and he did it. The crew didn't always arrive super early (which was fine with me), they would arrive by 9 or 10 and then work hard all day. Kelvin himself did a lot of the critical work, including re-flashing our chimney. Our roof has a couple of tricky spots that leaked during previous owners, but I feel confident in Kelvin's work and have not encountered any problems. It did take them three days to do the job, and I felt good about that. They didn't rush and try to slap a roof on in one day. They did the job properly and gave everything the attention it deserved. In the end, we were so pleased with the job that my dad called Kelvin to come and re-roof his house too. They did a great job on his house as well.

We'd call Kelvin back for future jobs without question. Out of all the services listed above that Kelvin did, only the repair of loose shingles was discussed for the charge of $300. Everything else he did on his own and without increasing our agreed upon cost. He even came back out a second time to check flashing on a newly replaced chimney just because he knew we'd had water issues with the chimney and he wanted to make sure we weren't going to have any additional issues. This wasn't a chimney he had done the work on nor did he charge to come back out and spend another half hour making sure it was sealed to the degree he felt necessary. He could have very easily told us we needed to completely replace the roof, instead, he came up with a solution that will hopefully allow us to get a few more years out of the roof. Kelvin made us feel like he was looking out for us - and is more interested in taking care of what needs to be done vs trying to squeeze every penny he can out of you.

He suggested a less expensive material that was also less expensive than the other company (Back's Construction) and his estimate was one third of the cost of Back's. He had the work done in less than 3 days of the initial call, was neat, helpful, and there has been no more leaking. I would reccomend him without question.

Left a voicemail on Friday, Kelvin called me back the following Monday. Gave me an estimate that day. Performed the work the following Wednesday. He did excellent work and cleaned up very thoroughly. He also cleaned out all the gutters while he was working on them.

He did the work for me in spring. He did a very good job. He came out when he said he would. He cleaned up after himself. I was very pleased with him. He came while I was at work.

I called Kelvin Howard and left a message about my small repair job. He returned my call about three days later and he said he had been out of town and would come by to look as soon as he could. Two days later he just showed up at my house around 6pm. Fortunately I was at home. I explained my need to repair or replace two roof vent flashings and to install a chimney cap. He inspected the vent flashings and said he could repair them in place now for $100. They did not require replacing only redoing them and sealing them. He proceeded to make the repairs and was done in about an one and a half hours while I watched on the roof. He is very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. Fortunately I had some spare shingles for him to use as replacements. He then measured the chimney for a custom made cap of stainless steel. He said he would not have time to make it himself as he had large roofing jobs booked. He offered to give the measurements to another man who makes caps and he would get back with me with an estimate at some point. Apparently Kelvin is like many smaller roofing operators who are very busy this time of year. He tries to work in smaller jobs as he can but is not always going to tell you when he is coming. He said he had another small job to do that same evening in a nearby town to finish repairing leaks before beginning a large job the next day. With Kelvin you shouldn't expect constant communication but he will show up and do what he can on the spot to keep the customer satisfied. I was satisfied with the quality of the work and I think his rates are very reasonable.

We had a leak in the roof by a chimney that had recently been repaired by another company - who had also told us we needed to replace the entire roof. I called Kelvin on a Thursday to find he was on vacation and that would contact me the following week. First thing Monday morning he called and came to the house the next morning. Kelvin got onto the roof, examined the problem, and gave me a couple of options on what could be done. I asked him if it were his house what he would do and he said the option that would be cheaper. He proceeded to fix the roof correctly, not just caulking. We have not had a good rainfall to see that the roof is not leaking yet, but I am confident that we will have no problems. I would definitely call Kelvin again and would recommend him.

Kelvin Howard came over to evaluate,and quote repairing a leak in roof. I expected only an estimate, however, he caulked, and repaired what we thought might be the problem. We have to wait for a driving rain to re-evaluate. Mr Howard was nice, and courteous, he didn't try to sell me on a lot of repair. Fixed what we thought was the first step to eliminate prior to going forward. I have complete confidence that if our first step does not fix problem, that he will be equally as prompt in returning to go further. Do not hesitate to call Mr. Howard for roofing.

We were incredibly pleased with Kelvin and his staff. The work was completed on time and under his orginal estimate. The workers cleaned up their mess daily so we did not have to worry about debris or roofing nails. We did suffer minor water damage in one bedroom due to a pop up storm before the flashing was completely installed around the chimney but Kelvin worked quickly in the rain to correct the issue. $10,000 may seem high for a roof but that was a considerable deal for our home and much lower than other estimates.

They were really great and got the job done on time like they said they would. They fixed all the problems we had with our roof. We had been having a problem with it leaking and they explained why it was leaking. They were very professional and very nice to work with. They cleaned up after themselves very well.

Kelvin joined me up on my roof, diagnosed the problem, and then spent a half hour up there with me spreading on roof adhesive at seams where water was leaking. He gave me a clear and honest appraisal of the problem, suggested I have others look at the roof for their opinions, and then wished me a happy holiday. I feel confident that if I do this work, he will be reliable and capable. Just based on this first meeting, I'd recommend him to any friend.

I cannot recommend Kelvin Howard's roofing more. His company is a fine example of what one would expect and want in a any company. You don't see service like this much anymore! Professional, kind, exact, wonderful service! I would highly recommend Kelvin Howard's roofing.
