+ -1 moreWe were more than satisfied with the price charged, the professionalism of the workmen and the quality of the work performed. I would not hesitate to call John Estes again for any type of plumbing problem based on this experience and have recommended him already to several friends. This is the way to run a business and it is much appreciated!
Description of Work: We had an exterior faucet that had frozen and burst last winter that we had been slow to repair (we didn't leave the hose connected!). This was the second time this had happened (and repaired once before with the promise "that it would never happen again"). We had finished a screen porch to a den approximately three years ago and added a wet bar; the exterior faucet and wet bar were attached to the same line, which ultimately flooded a portion of our basement when the line burst. Two plumbers from John Estes arrived within an hour of being called and immediately determined that the exterior faucet should never have been placed where it was initially and advised that the line needed to be capped and the faucet moved. They were then going to run a separate line from under the wet bar through the side of the house to a new exterior faucet to minimize the possibility of the line freezing. That necessitated a second visit due to the job being too complicated and time consuming to complete at first viewing. They returned as scheduled, did the work and left specific instructions for us to relay to the carpenter in terms of repairing the side of our house around the new faucet location (insulation, house wrap and vinyl siding had to be repaired),

+ 0 moreJohn is very personable, very knowledgable of the area, the pipes in the neighborhood I live in, as well as the complications that came with the age of my house. And after making me laugh, he took 10 minutes to fix the problem. He is officially our plumber for life!!
Description of Work: While stripping wall paper off of the walls in the bathroom, small pieces went down the sink and clogged the drain WELL. My husband had been a plumber in the Navy and couldn't get the clog out. John Showed up, worked some magic with the sink and in 10 minutes start to finish had it working like a charm again.

Description of Work: I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY OVER THE COURSE OF 15 YEARS. SERVICE IS EXCELLENT AND ON TIME EVERYTIME. WE HAVE A WASHER DRAIN THAT PLUGS UP OFTEN SINCE WASHER'S HAVE NO LINT TRAP ANYMORE. JOHN HAS DONE OTHER PLUMBING TYPE PROBLEMS FOR US. INCLUDING REPLACING OLD RUSTED OUT PIPES WHEN WE FIRST MOVED INTO OUR HOUSE.

+ 0 moreIt was a complicated process but a very positive experience. They were very prompt and competent. They came right out and knew what they needed to do. They brought all their own equipment, and everything was done in less than a day. I did not have a frame of reference in terms of the price, but I thought it was fair. The quality of the work and their responsiveness were good. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

One of the plumbers told me they hire a service for this and for my opinion it is money well spent and is why I call them when I need plumbing. Have used them for three projects; each time had a different plumber but all were professional, courteous, quick to work and kept the area cleaned up.

+ -1 moreJohn Estes did a good job. He knew exactly what he needed to do. When I described the noises he said he thought he knew what it was. He fixed it and was gone in about a half of an hour. It has been fixed ever since. It was a positive experience. He was knowledgeable, fast and did the repairs well. We have had nor problems since. I have not hired a lot of plumbers but it seemed he was fast bit a little bit expensive. He was a bit rough and used very common language but knew what he was doing. He was friendly.
Description of Work: John Estes serviced our kitchen faucet that was making noises.

Description of Work: I had a water stain on the first floor ceiling of my garage, so I assumed it was a bathroom leak from the bathroom above the water stain. I had Estes come out to assess the leak and give me an estimate. They checked everything out thoroughly and found that there was no leak in plumbing, and felt that it was a roof leak instead. I appreciated their honesty, since they don't do roofing work. I had a roofer come out and Estes was correct on their suspicion of a roof leak, so they seem to know their stuff. They also came the day after I called, so I appreciated their prompt response.

+ -1 moreThe gentleman from Estes was quick to reply to my phone call and actually showed up that afternoon while the gentleman from the plumber I later hired to do the work was also there to look over the situation. However, the Estes gentleman seemed in a real hurry to check everything out and was in and out in less than half the time the other plumber spent assessing the situation and talking me through it. I learned much more from the other plumber, and I felt like my job, which eventually went for $2700, was not important to the folks at Estes. The Estes man promised to give me an estimate that afternoon or the next day, but he did not call me for almost a week after his visit. When he eventually did call, I had already signed with another plumber and was having the work done the next day. The estimates from the two firms were nearly identical for the work I had to do, but I was pretty disappointed in Estes' lack of a quick reply as promised. This was a pretty critical situation -- my entire plumbing system had already shut down once and could do so again at any time -- so making me wait a week for an estimate was not acceptable.
Description of Work: I had a main sewer line from my house to the city sewer line at the street that had become corrupted by tree roots and general decay (50 years old). I had Estes come give me an estimate on replacing the line. I did not hire Estes to complete the work.

Description of Work: This is regarding an incident in the parking lot of Eastland Shopping Center in Lexington. A van from Estes sped through the lot at a speed in excess of 30 mph, nearly colliding with my vehicle. When i honked at the Estes van, the driver performed a rude gesture and sped recklessly on. I would never use this company for any services whatsoever, given that they employee individuals of such a reckless and antisocial character.

+ -1 moreWhen the meter reader knocked on my door and said my water read to high I started contacted plumbers but it was going into the weekend. On Monday he called me back I couldn't meeet him until tuesday. On tuesday he called and came on over. I went back to sleep while they did the work. I won't get a bill til 1st of May but he had gave me an estimate. This was today. they even replanted a plant they had to dig up.
Description of Work: I had a leak outside the house in a water line. They found it and repaired it within 2 hours.

Since these are relatively new devices (ours was from Monessin), they asked for a copy of the product manual to make sure that they were safe. They showed up on time. 1.5 hours work by two guys, and only $148, which is VERY reasonable! The guys were very professional and friendly, I plan to use them as my plumbing company from now on!
Description of Work: Estes plumbing installed a vent-free gas fireplace in the TV room.

+ -1 moreWhen he got to the home, things went OK and the repair has worked well since. However, getting the repairman there involved waiting 3 days and he still didn't show up for an hour after he said he'd be there. When we spoke on the phone, he was rude and frequently cut me off.
