Description of Work: This provider does not do gutter cleaning... even though there are reviews saying they do. Man on phone, Mike was not helpful and did not listen to me when I was telling him that other people have reviews about their company doing gutter clean outs. He focused on a secondary task that I mentioned about if someone could blow the leaves that had fallen near the gutter into a pile wit their blowers.

They were horrible. They sent someone that was apparently drinking the first time and he put cigarettes out all over in my garage. They got the wrong door twice and then tried to put it in and said that he couldn't get it in so he would have to come back the next day. I called and told them that I did not want that person back in my house. The owner of the company was not nice about it either. He did finally send someone else to finish the job and he was very great. They need to screen who they are going to hire.

Handyman Connection is under new ownership. As the new owner, I can't defend your experience from two years ago. However, I can defend my business, our policies and our employment background requirements. All our craftsman undergo an extensive background check and must meet experience and quality guidelines. I can't vouch for this business prior to my acquisition but I can say definitively that Handyman Connection is currently a great business. We have made significant changes to our operations which are centered around the experience of every customer. Projects don't and can't always go according to plan but we guarantee our work in writing! We stand behind our work and we are committed to customer satisfaction.

He installed a door. I had to call him back because the door was crooked. No molding was installed. He came back and "fixed" it. The door is even more crooked now. He also "fixed" my upstairs bathroom door, which is now also crooked. At first I tried to get the worker to come back and repair or replace the door frames. Each time the call went to voicemail and my calls were not returned. Then I decided to call Handyman Connection. They sent someone out to look at the doors. The worker said he thought the entire job would have to be done again from scratch but he wouldn't be able to do it for at least 2 weeks. I agreed to that, but after a few weeks of not hearing from anyone, I called Handyman Connection again. I was told someone would get back to me within 24 hours, but nobody called me back. I called back again and told them I would be contacting my lawyer, which I have done. This has been a terrible waste of money and time. I will never use Handyman Connection again.

They were on time for the estimate appointment and then completed the work just as planned and quoted. Stephen, the new owner, is really doing a good job to make them a viable and responsive choice when you need to get jobs done. This is the 3rd time I've used them and been happy. Most of my jobs so far have been small in the sub-thousand dollar range.

We liked the experience. They were too good, but a little expensive; we had no other option so we went with them. They came, gave us the quote, and the work was done within the time that they committed. The person that came in was rushing. The paint was not straight, once we told him, he did it. Everything else was good. We would use them again but not for painting, maybe something else.

There was a lot of labor involved, but the material probably could have been of a little bit higher quality for what the price we paid, I think. I might look elsewhere before I go back to them.
Description of Work: The north side facing of the house is in shadow. The house itself casts a shadow upon that area and the flashing along the back of the house was not built up as high as it could have been and the snow mount that accumulates on that back of the house was not melting because of the shadow and it allowed moisture to come in behind the flashing that ended up rotting out the sub-flooring along the back door. So, we ended up having Handyman Connection – Lexington to clear up the sub-flooring, go underneath into the crawl space and do everything from the bottom up along the door-frame. It took several days. He replaced the back door and everything.

We appreciate the opportunity to give homeowners a quote on their repairs. Our quotes are free and come with no obligations. In fact, we encourage homeowners to get additional quotes. On the average we sell over 70% of the jobs we quote. However, we are not always the cheapest but we do stand behind our work.

Employee not on time. Had to call owner several times to find out where employee was located. French door install leas when rains and when stated this fact to installer they said it was the inferior siding not his work. We were given a price to install the front door but after several issues with the installer the price was raised 200.00 dollars because there were going to be problems. This came after the inss very combative and argumentative. I called the main office and informed them we did not want this person on the property. This company is very unprofessional and were reported to the BBB in Lexington KY. I would not ever recommend this company. *Update September 15, 2013 - Response to company response* The worker for Handyman Connection quoted a price of $900 to replace a front door, patio door and steel door going into the garage. He was to replace the patio door and steel door on the first visit and schedule a date to return when we received the front door for that work. The contractor was to arrive at my house at 9:30a but didn't arrive until 10:30a . He began working on the patio door first and didn't have the materials needed so I went to Lowe's in Danville to pick them up. I got the wrong materials and he stated that he would have to go exchange for the materials needed, He had trouble installing the new door and became increasingly agitated After about and 1 1/2 hours he said that he was going to lunch and to exchange the materials. He was gone for approximately 2 hours. During that time it began to storm and water leaked into the basement from underneath the door and down the side of the door. He used more caulking in these areas. Since it was storming, he decided to work on the garage door and had difficulty with that door as well. He finally got the door so that it could be locked and decided he was finished for the day. By then it was 5:30p. He said that he would finish the work on the patio door and install the screen doors for it and finish up the framework around the garage door and threshold when he came back to replace the front door. I paid him $620 which for the two doors (including the unfinished work and $20 for materials). Before his returned it had rained heavily a couple of times and water came in under the patio door into the basement. We received the front door on 9/1 and he was supposed to come back on 09/05/13at 9:30a to finish the the work from his first trip downstairs and to install the front entry door. My wife took off work for this and he called me on my cell phone at exactly 9:30a saying he had surgery and wouldn't be there, and said he would be there on the following Monday 9/9 at 9:00. My wife took off work again and the rep called me on my cell phone saying that he wouldn't be there but they would call back to reschedule. The worker, Gary, called me and stated that he was booked the rest of the week at which and I asked him to move another appointment as I had taken off work and could not take off again. He stated he didn't want todo to his other customers what he did to us by canceling. We then called the owner, Pete, he said that Gary would return 9/12 at 9:30a to finish up. I called his employer at 10:15a to see where he was and they called him. They called him and he stated he was at Lowes buying trim for the downstairs door leading into the garage. he called me and when I informed him that the patio door was leaking again he said it was my poor siding on the house and not his workmanship. I informed him that the old door never leaked but he just kept arguing. He then told me that the front door was going to have problems and he would have to charge another $200 dollars to finish the installation. He also told me that his boss said he didn't charge enough and to get more. I told him he had already given a price for the installation which was 300 for the front door. He stated that was just a estimate and not a firm price and he began to argue about the work being under bid. I told him that I would only pay what was quoted in writing and work had be left undone. Our patio door still leaks, the trim around the entry door into the garage has not been completed (still needs trim, caulking, and the threshold buttoned down), and the front door was never touched. He was paid for everything except the front door. After he tried to charge more than the quoted price I called his office and talked to the lady who answered the phone and told her I did not want him on the premises as i did not trust him or his work. A complaint with the BBB in Lexington, KY has been filed. The owner, Pete, still hasn't contacted me to discuss or send someone else to finish the work left undone. *Update September 27, 2013* Handyman Connection has repaired all mistakes. The owner immediately answered my complaint In a professional manner and was much appreciated. We had used his service on several occasions and were satisfied with his service. Handyman Connection was quick to respond after your service. Thank you angles list. Due the quick response from Handyman Connection we will increase their failing score to a ?A? in all areas. Thanks again Angie?s List

This job turned out to be a calamity of events. We installed 2 of the 3 doors with no issue, except that one was leaking, which we would have been glad to fix. When a door is unprotected by a porch or overhang it is sometimes difficult to anticipate all the potential water entry points. The 3rd door took a little longer to be delivered. When the office scheduled the 1st appointment, we were unaware that the craftsman was working on another job. The 2nd schedule date didn't work because the craftsman was ill. The 3rd date, the craftsman was picking up supplies and was on his way to the customers house when we were told by the customer they would find someone else to do the work. The additional charge for the 3rd door was from the fact that we were concerned that the new door was too tall and additional work would have to be done for it to work. If the door was the right size there would not have been an additional charge. I apologize for the inconveniences we caused. Most of our jobs do go very smoothly without hitches.

Sent an unlicensed plumber to install a gas water heater with no permit. Called and asked why and "Pete" said that he thinks that that should be up to the homeowner. The homeowner lives in TN!! I am their Realtor and this house is listed for sale. With a home inspection around the corner I had to call another company to fix their mess. I looked up the name of the plumber they sent. His name is Rudy. Rudy is not a licensed plumber. He also installed it wrong. 3 things had to be corrected by the other plumber. Rudy thought it was ok to strap the vent using a twisted up wire hanger. Hopefully we will get the REQUIRED permit next week. The worst part is that even after I called, no one bothered to fix the problem.

Sorry about the confusion on this issue. Rudy does our plumbing under the license of Larry Carter (license no M6936). When the realtor called our office and asked about the permit, we were having a problem with our permits being registered. That has been corrected. When the realtor was told it was the homeowners responsibility, it was meant from the cost of the permit. Old Republic (the home warranty company) does not cover the cost of the permit. The realtor did provide the name of the homeowner so there was no way to contact them.

First off, they rescheduled 4 times. Then when they show up to do the job, the guy and his helper go outside to make a phone call. Never seen or heard from them again. So basically, they wasted several days of my time since they rescheduled at the last hour, and when they said they would go make a call and be back, I had to sit at the house waiting for them all day. Absolutely nothing got done.

The quality of the workmanship was terrible. The tub was installed fine...but the surround was done completely unprofessionally. To start with, the two sides were not even. One side of the surround stuck out 2 inches past the edge of the tub, and the other side was flush. It was completely asymmetrical. It was not easy to work with the plumber, he said there was nothing wrong with it, and eventually the owner had to come out and look at it. Instead of taking out the poorly installed surround, they tried to cut the surround (it was completely jagged) and make the ends match. After that was deemed unacceptable...they came out a third time and ordered a new surround. However, instead of taking out the poorly installed surround at this point...they just took out the one panel that was now jagged...and jammed it in the best they could. One month later, the drywall around the surround was getting wet in the bathroom on the edges of the tub (I and the contractor we had come out after Handyman Connections also said it was poor installation causing the problem) and to avoid having a mold problem...we had another contractor take out the surround. We went ahead had tile, with a mosaic trim, and bullnose installed with two pockets for shampoo for less money than Handyman connections charged for the work. I very much regretted not shopping around more. They may be fine for small fix-it up projects...but the plumbing work was a disaster and they proved very hard to work with. Lastly...the plumber who came tried to get us to call him directly and not go through Handyman Connections the next time we needed something done, which I found to be very unprofessional.

I am very sorry you had such an unpleasant experience. We tried hard to satisfy you with the tub/surround installation and re-did it on two occasions. Had you called the office still not being satisfied, we would have come back a third time. Sometimes the products installed (which are picked out by the homeowner) do not meet the homeowner's expectations. I would classify the glue on panels as one of those cases.
