From our first meeting, everything promised was delivered...timing, product, experts. Each step of the way was seamless. Our old deck had to be demoed and there was a still-active swallows nest attached. Those babies were close to leaving, but not out yet. The demo team actually took that deck down around the nest! So caring, so perfect. The end result, a new deck with screen room, is beautifully executed, totally functional, and a delight to use. We highly recommend DDR. As with all major construction and remodeling projects, every homeowners should always anticipated some unexpected surprises or delays that can occur, but good and timely communication always helps to overcome those challenges; both large and small. DDR's Sr. Project Manager, Chris Thomas was extremely thorough in all his communications with us. As such our expectations were always met. Separately, each one of the subcontractor crews were friendly, efficient, and thorough. Whenever they were onsite, the work effort was continuous and effective. Our project was the addition of an all-season 10 x 14 sunroom with vaulted ceiling off the kitchen. DDR was not the least expensive contractor, but we determined them to be the most professional and reliable to do the work. They did not disappoint. We would highly recommend DDR as a remodeling contractor, and we would use them again.

The garage build was done to my expectations, and in a very timely manner. Ian Baker was my Project Manager. He is knowledgeable, and kept the build, and materials moving quickly. I would recommend D.D.R.

My build was an uninsulated 26 X 28 garage with roof pitch 7-12 tall enough to have some attic /loft space. The interior was unfinished. I already had a concrete foundation and footers poured separately because I initially planned to erect a large metal garage on it. Cost of the concrete pour was nearly $10,000. Cost of the garage was $40,000, a bit pricey but the convenience of using this company to coordinate permits, inspections, having contractors at the right time etc. was worth the added cost. Frankly, I called a few other companies who specialize in garage builds and none showed up to give me an estimate. From start to finish, Distinctive Design & Remodeling (DDR) was a pleasure to work with. Kevin Kelly came to the house and was an expert at putting together a plan that I was comfortable with. As a longtime handyman, I pretty much knew what I wanted, but Kevin went through much more detail about features I had not thought about. It was pretty obvious they had it all together. From there, I worked with Chris Thomas who was the project manager. Chris was awesome to work with. We communicated almost daily and he visited the site at every step of the construction. Some minor issues I noted along the way were corrected immediately but they were few and far between. I canâ t say enough good things about Chris. He was awesome. The crews they had were also great from the guys who dug the ditch for running power to the garage, to the framers, roofers, and siding guys. (Thanks to Fernando, Shannon, and Oscar). All in all, Iâ m very pleased with the work. Having had the experience of pouring the concrete, I was aware of the amount of disturbance that would occur to the existing landscape. One thing I would mention to anyone who undertakes a large project like this is to be aware of the fact that your landscape will be disturbed a great deal from the concrete pour and ditch to run power to a detached building. These guys are not landscapers. Your property will be put back into general/rough order but the details are left to the homeowner. For example, I had tons of dirt to disperse on my own, which I needed anyway in parts of my property, and I was lucky to have a small tractor with front loader. Moving all that dirt from the concrete pour by hand would have been a real chore. This is not a criticism of DDR. Itâ s just a fact of large projects. But they do clean up all construction materials and scraps very well. I would hire this company again and might looking into a basement remodel down the road.

DDR did a great job, from tearing down our old garage and hauling it away, to building the new one. The guys even went as far as helping us move some last minute things from the old existing garage before demolition began. Ian the project manager kept in constant contact with us, via text and phone so that we knew what was happening every step of the way, and made it very easy for us to contact him when we had questions. Best of all they finish weeks before the initial completion date. Needless to say we are very happy with our new garage.

I am so happy with the quality of the work done to build my new garage. My project manager, Chris kept me informed on all stages of the build. With a background in art and design I am very detail oriented. I was so impressed with the high skill set of all the crews that worked on my garage. It is made well and beautiful!

DDR was great to work with. They dispatched a design manager out super quick, and he was very thorough in discussing my wants/needs and quoting a price on the spot (thanks, Pat!) They coordinated everything, start-to-finish, including dealing with permitting & my Historic District (which I was extremely grateful for!). I've worked with several other contractors in the past (both personally and in my professional career) and have never experienced the level of communication I got with this project (shout out to Chris!). The job was complete within the "best-case" timeline laid out, which I was also very impressed with. All my questions & concerns were always promptly addressed. I probably could have found another company to do the job for less, but, I've learned through experience that you get what you pay for. If you want to get a project done with as little headache & inconvenience as possible, go with DDR.

This team is top-notch! We had already talked to four other builders but Kevin was the only one who really listened to what we were wanting - and then developed a plan that met our expectations. I felt like everyone else was trying to sell us a package. Chris was our project manager - he did a awesome job! We communicated almost every day, he kept me informed on what was going on and the next steps - it wasnt me bugging him for info. Everyone we met did a great job, they listened to my questions and had good answers, very responsive (I felt like part of the team for our project). I will hire them again! And, they were the best price - BONUS!!! No surprise cost overruns either. This was our third major building project, but the first time Ive felt good about the results (two others were different companies). If you want to see the results, call DDR and have them send me your number and we can set up a visit - I am a fan because they delivered!!!

We are very happy with our room addition and covered patio area! The project was completed in the time frame quoted to us. The project manager addressed all of our issues, kept us informed. They did a great job!

Beware of APR rates when signing the contract. We got told it would be between 1 and 2% , When it was finalized it was at 7.99%!

1) We were very impressed that Jesse, one of the co-owners of DDR, met with us to discuss what we were looking for. He took detailed notes, and provided helpful feedback on different ideas we were looking at. 2) When we were reviewing the CAD plans for our room addition and breezeway, Jesse answered all of our questions without fail, and included different details into the CAD plans that we had discussed but were missing. 3) All the different members of the DDR team that were involved in the project (materials engineer, project manager, etc) were all very pro-active and touched base with us with questions, in order to ensure that everything would match as closely as possible to our house and detached garage. 4) The project manager, Chris, always kept us in the loop regarding which teams were coming to the house, materials being delivered, etc. This was definitely appreciated and made us feel like the project was being handled in a professional manner. 5) All the teams that came (concrete, framing, roofing, insulation, siding, electrical, drywall, trim, and clean-up) were highly professional and worked hard and fast to ensure that the project would be completed on time. Chris would visit to check on the work and to take pictures. When the stairs from the breezeway to the room addition was first built, Chris recognized that it did not meet code nor did it meet DDR's own standards, and had the stairs re-done. We greatly appreciate the action that was taken. 6) The clean-up team really impressed us with the care they took in making sure that everything was as clean as possible on site, including hosing down our driveway (where the dumpster had been sitting), so that we would not need to do that. Would we contact DDR in the future for any other additions or work on our house? Definitely. Would we recommend DDR to anyone who is looking for a company to do work on their house or property? Definitely.
