We were very pleased with the home inspection that Jon Bain provided. He was very thorough, knows his stuff, gave good suggestions on how to resolve existing problems and potential problems. Even another contractor who was at the house at the same time commented how thorough he noticed Jon was. We picked him to do the inspection based on the excellent reviews on Angie's List even though his price was higher than other quotes I got. We were very glad we did as it was money well spent. He spent about 5 hours on the inspection and spent about an hour at the end to go through the findings with us. A detailed report with many pictures was emailed to us within about an hour. I'm sure that a few of the issues he noticed would have been missed by a more casual inspector. He was very professional, friendly and personable. Recently while we were having carpet replaced with hardwood, we noticed a couple of old spots on the subfloor. Of course, there was no way that they could have been seen in the inspection (unless the inspector had x-ray vision). We naturally thought of calling Jon to get his advice on it. He returned my phone call promptly and asked me to send him pictures of the spots. After he got the pictures, he called me back and discussed the possibilities with me and gave me some suggestions. He even volunteered to come by to the house to take a look at what may have caused the spots (at no charge) to make sure that we won't have the same problem again. He definitely is going above and beyond the call of duty to do this. I highly recommend Jon for home inspection if you want it done right. I tend to be a perfectionist and I was very impressed by how thorough he was.

I contacted John Bain with Bain Property Inspection to conduct a Home Inspection on a short sale vacant home we were planning on purchasing. When I first called, I left a message and my call was returned within the hour. John answered any question I had about the home inspection and what to expect. He then inquired about the home and any concerns that I had. A time was set for him to begin the inspection and he made arrangements with my relator to get into the house. John began the inspection and I arrived about half way through. John immediately greeted me and answered a couple of questions I had. John continued his inspection while I met with the Termite inspector. John spent several hours conducting the inspection and I never saw him even take a break. All the homes systems were tested and evaluated. After John had completed the inspection, we did a walk though the house where he pointed out several good things and several items of concern. We talked extensively about the problems that were found and John provided information about how significant the problem was. I then received a very long and detailed report that had numerous photo's. The report was very easy to read and gave me a bucket list of all of the items that needed attention. The photographs provided in the report where very well documented so that you could completely understand what his concern was. John was very open to me contacting him in the future to explain any further questions that I may have.

Jon Bain is, quite simply, amazing! His reports are thorough, professional, and ready at the end of the inspection (no waiting for results). The mortgage lender said that she had NEVER seen a home inspection report this detailed. This is the second time I've used Bain Property Inspection and was 110% satisfied both times. if you are the potential buyer, call Jon Bain for home inspection!

Mr. Bain was very reasonable priced, personable and did a pretty good inspection. He gave me a lot of good advice to where I was able to go ahead and fix the problems myself. He was really good and I would use him again.

We were able to obtain an inspection within days of contacting Bain Prop. Insp.. The inspection was performed on the set date, at the set time, and we were able to obtain a complete and detail report a few hours after the inspection was completed. As we were not on location for the inspection (we are living in another state), it was very useful to have the report by email. Once the report was read, we were able to contact Bain Prop. Insp. immediately, and obtain (very minor!) clarifications and general opinions. Considering the level of details of the work performed, and how quick we obtained the report, we consider that the price was very low. Overall, a very efficient and very positive experience!

Mr. Bain demonstrated superior expertise and concern for my best interests. After he spent about four hours inspecting, photographing, and writing up a detailed report in pdf format about a 1200 sqft house, he guided me around the property and explained EVERYTHING in his write-up in terms I could understand. His report was all about future expenses I could expect for addressing malfunctional, structural, and safety issues. I paid him by credit card after our consultation onsite and he immediately emailed me the complete report.

Everything went very well. John Bain was very responsive to my emails of questions and was able to complete the inspection within a few days of being hired. He did a good job working with someone (me) who lived 800 miles away and could not be available in person for the inspection. His report with pictures and extensive notes left me feeling that no stone was left unturned.

I am looking at buying an older home and I contacted John for an inspection based on his rankings on this site. John did a great job and spent a lot of time going over the house thoroughly. His inspection report was very detailed and he made it available by e-mail to me. John was prompt in responding to my requests and talked to me about what the report meant and reassured me about some problems with the house. Overall, John has helped me tremendously and is a true professional.

John Bain inspected our home four years ago. It is an historic home and he is an expert. He did a thorough, exacting job with the inspection and prepared us for both the major and minor work necessary for this old house. Not only did he provide us with a good, realistic sense of what we were buying, he had many helpful recommendations about how to proceed. Because we were so thrilled with his work, we recommended him to everyone we know. He's inspected many homes of friends since that time and everyone I know is grateful for his service and experience the peace and confidence that comes from an excellent home inspection. Recently, he inspected a property for us that we were interested in buying. It had a recent fire so it was complicated and there was much to consider in the purchase. He was extremely helpful in navigating the particulars of this and his advice was critical. Again, we recommend him with fullest confidence and highest marks.

John is very nice to work with and has a good sense of humor. He was very responsive in setting up an appointment well within my purchase contract guidelines and provided a detailed professional report for his work immediately following the inspection. I am very pleased with his home inspection; not only did he find defects of concern some of which I will ask the sellers to correct, but he was able to answer my specific questions on built-in security wiring, future attic storage and access I am considering, as well as overall home maintenance going forward. He was able to recommend local professionals to service my house in the future as well when asked, in addition to those available on Angie's List. We did a walk through of items of concern following discussion. I believe I got my monies worth, and it was a worth while investment.

Overall an excellent experience from beginning to end. He knew what he was doing and on one particular item the Realtors and sellers told me he was wrong. But when I checked with Building Code Enforcement, John was right and it proved that the Realtors and sellers were not being honest with me. I am a single woman and this process always scares me since I know absolutely nothing about repairs. Unfortunately it is also very easy to take advantage of me for that reason. Having John there gave me confidence in knowing I couldn't be taken advantage of because he let me know everything I needed to know and was right on target with it all. That meant a great deal to me.

John was prompt in returning my phone calls, he was on time. He was very personable on top of being very efficient and thorough. He was reassuring when I freaked out about all the work that needed to be done and he told me what was important and what wasn't. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Very well from start to finish. Company owner responded promptly to both email and telephone contacts, worked around my schedule and that of the sellers, arrived on time and completed the inspection in the time promised. Owner reviewed the results of the inspection with me immediately after completing it, explaining not only what conditions were discovered, but their severity and potential impact on occupancy and enjoyment of the property. Owner was able to explain conditions to me, although I have no background in construction or home repairs.
