BACK CONSTRUCTION

The workmanship is wonderful - no doubt, but the time required for this small project has been discouraging. I signed the contract on May 16, 2014. The job began on shortly thereafter, and today is December 28th and the work is not completed. I'm not sure I'd want them to do a remodel where they needed to be in my home. I can't imagine how long that might take. I'm very disappointed in their timeline. There were many weeks of beautiful weather but no work going on. Now it's winter and the weather is not so cooperative.

I contacted Back Construction about looking at replacing roof, bathroom remodel and windows through their website and someone got back to me within a couple days but forwarded my info on to two different people who would handle quotes for their respective fields. It took a while to have one of the people call me and I never heard anything back from the other until I just happened to inquire about Pella windows through the Pella website and Back turns out to be the authorized dealer for Pella in the area. I only ended up getting quotes for the bathroom and windows. The gentleman arrived on time and was professional. Pricing wasn't too bad. It wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive. I ended up going a different route.

This was for two skylights. Timing to do the work was delayed after our initial signing of contract in late fall, but Back scheduled at first opportunity in better weather of mid February. They completed the work in good order and did a nice job with the roof around the installation. We tried to get several bids for this work but Back was one of the few that responded. For a small job, it is difficult to get a contractor to give a quote or visit to look at the job. While the total cost was a bit more than I had hoped for, the expectations were admittedly based on a lack of experience in what such a job would cost. Of higher importance is that the work is done competently and safely. Based on my experience with this small project, I would recommend considering Back Construction.

I am a graduate of Architecture school, and require meticulous work. the entire process, from beginning to end went perfectly, with pleasant and capable management and a minimum of disturbance. They were Absolutely on time and schedule, with all "punch list" items completed professionally. They even used their industry knowledge and connections to help solve another contractor's unfinished work. I would highly recommend this contractor to any and all without reservation!

They did an excellent job. They are not the cheapest, but they are the best. They do quality work. I recommended them to my neighbor who also used them.

The man who came out and did the estimate on the work, he and the people who showed up to do the work, they would say no we would like to do it this way, we need to do it that way. So, the experience was not good at all. Then, they also did some work they did not get a bid on. They did not bid on a window, which was additional work, but then they billed me without my approving and getting an estimate on it. I had shown him the window and said that we need to address it later, but the next thing I know, is that they did the window and put it in and then sent me a very hard deal. It was very expensive. Then, some of the jobs they did were sloppy. For the contracted work, they would start and then they would leave it in the middle, to go to other jobs. And then they came in bad weather. It was so bad, and they were tearing up my yard, in the snow during the snowstorm, and then again they would just leave the job and I had to find somebody else to finish it. So I was not happy with their work at all. And I would never recommend them to anyone.

Back toward the end of 2013 I decided the time had come to replace the old linoleum flooring in the kitchen and laundry room. My kitchen is at one end of one big room which has my computer and computer desk at the other end along with some other furniture. The rest of the flooring in that room was wood. I decided to replace all the old flooring in the big room and the laundry room (which is a separate room). During the process I also decided to let the contractor fix some plumbing issues in my bathrooms (2) and install a new mirror in one of the bathrooms. I decided upon Back Construction given their reputation for providing excellent service in the area. I have previously read reviews about their work on this site. They are also rated very highly by readers of the Lexington Herald-Leader. While shopping for flooring in Lexington I ran into a lady who has been a customer of Back for several years who told me she has been very pleased with their service over the years. The work commenced in January and was completed this date, 2/25/2014. Everyone that worked at my house did a fine job and were very professional. My kitchen flooring looks absolutely great. I would like to replace carpeting that is now in the other parts of the house with the same hardwood flooring installed in the kitchen. That may be down the road at a future time because I will not begin another project until I have the funds available. I am not going to incur debt. I have other projects in mind as well but patience is key since the money will need to be available before I'll begin the next round. The new counter tops, cabinets, sink and faucet look excellent. It is great to look what has been done, especially since the old stuff was very dated and needed replacing. The work done in my bathrooms was not as major but did correct some problems and needs. The total project came to over $16,000 but it has been worth it not only for looks but improved utility and storage space. It is a great feeling to see these improvements now in place I am very pleased with the work and professionalism exhibited by Back Construction and the various subcontractors and workers who contributed to the project.

It was good. They were fine. Their work was fine and it was fast.

They used people who were very professional and did a wonderful job. At the end when it came time for payment, they were a little higher than what they first said. It seemed like they were trying to charge more for the installation for the back splash, but we were able to come to an agreement on the price. Overall, I was extremely happy with the quality of the work.

We have used back exclusively over the years for both major and minor repairs. They are courteous, professional, approachable and so easy to work with. They are a bit pricey, but the quality of the work is worth it and if there ever is a problem they come out immediately and correct it. the project managers are very good listeners; they make sure that their team is on the same page and when they come to work they work with only minimal breaks and clean up is a dream come true. I would definitely recommend them and compare their service and response to others. They are the gold standard.

It went wonderfully. From start to finish, we were very pleased with the level of professionalism, quality of work, tidiness, and respect shown for us and our property. All of this, plus it was all done on time for a reasonable price!

Because this company had received high recommendations, I asked them to make an estimate for several items of "handyman" work. Everything about the process -- getting a call back from the estimator, getting an appointment, receiving the estimate after the appointment -- took a long time. The estimator was very nice, seemed quite knowledgeable, and gave me some good advice. I thought they would do good work, but the price was fairly high. It also seemed that they were quite busy -- perhaps too busy to do the work in a timely way, so I decided not to use them. If I had a bigger job in the future, and more time and money, I would possibly use them.

They were very well put together. They were very organized and very professional. They are also friendly and knowledgeable. They were just too much, that was my only con with them.

I called in mid-July. Brian was out of town, and would get back to me the next week to schedule and appointment for an estimate. Which is fine, it is vacation time. He got back to me promptly and set they date for estimate, and that went well, price was fine. Received my job proposal was to sign and return which I did he said it would be couple of weeks. Last Thursday 8/22/2013 I called to see what was going on. Left a message on Brian's voicemail and today is Monday 8/26/2013 and have not heard back from anyone. I know this is a small job, and I know we have had a lot of rain and they may be behind, but a courtesy call to let me where the job stood would have been appreciated greatly.

All well. Done quickly and cleaned up good.

They were excellent and professional. I especially liked that they cleaned up after themselves.

Very professional workers, did excellent job of removing items from walls & reinstalling items. Took 3 days and workers were prompt each day and explained areas that required varied painting requirements.

The estimate was literally twice that of another company (who also gets good reviews here).

They came to the appointment on time and looked at the job. They would not give us a proposal without going to an engineer for a specific design. That seemed unnecessary to us and we used a different contractor.

I am happy with their service. They came here on time. They also clean their mess and the job was done effectively. Then they followed up afterwards to make sure everything is doing fine.

How did it go? You call, they come out and look, you talk about what needs to be done and agree on that and the estimate and they do the work. Pretty simple. Trustworthy and timely. I have had other dealings with them in the past but this is the most recent. I also deal with "sister companies" they use based on their recommendation and only because Back backs them up! They are awesome is all I will say.

They do really fabulous work. They clean up after themselves. They tend to be very expensive, although they gave me a really good quote on the skylights. I was glad to be able to use them. It was nothing that they did that I would have improved on, and I know construction. I would use them again if I could afford them. I have had them quote other things where they have been too high. If they are anywhere near reasonable on other quotes, I would use them in a heartbeat.

i was getting frustrated from the number of contractors who never showed up for an estimate or who showed up and never left an estimate. back handyman division came out and said they could do the job.the job was done professionally and went well.

I got quotes from several places ranging from $4000 to $8200....with the exception of Back Construction...who said it would be a minimum of $20,000 but that I should budget $25,000. Other's have since told me that Back bases their quotes on how expensive of a neighborhood you live in.

Representative was very professional and knowledgeable. We discussed the project and he offered good advice on how to proceed with project. He was up front with me that the price would be higher then most of the competition do to the Quality of work. In the end the price difference was just to great for me to justify.
