Lovell's Hardwood Flooring

They did a good job. They were very good, here on time everyday. It took them four days to get the job done and there was quite a bit that they were doing because we didn't have hardwood floors before that. So they had to take up all the carpeting and do all of that. And they did a phenomenal job. They didn't take a lot of breaks; they just stayed with it.

I used the proposal to negotiate a lower price from Buddy's Carpet.

Things started off well, but deteriorated as the job was slow to complete and quality concerns arose. -There was an area that was estimated and then ignored at the time of work bc plumbing fixtures made access difficult, but I was not informed of this at the time of the estimate. This was resolved with frustration after the fact. - Difficult to access areas around kitchen cabinets and corners were not consistently covered. I continue to notice these as time goes by despite touch ups a month or so after the work was completed. - The area that was recoated began to chip and peel within weeks (which they do not warrant) - The repair was done quite well. Impressive craftsmanship. This was by a different individual than the person who led the refinishing. - The job manager was difficult to reach when issues arrived. He did not clearly communicate timing changes. We very nearly missed our move in date, due to delays. The quality issues may also be tied to the fact that much of the work was done at night, after dark. - Work was required to be paid in full, in advance. I believe this allowed them to be slow to respond to concerns.

This is our second time using Lovell's and we were just as pleased this time as the last. We scheduled to have the work done while we were gone. This worked out perfectly. Other than the finished floors, you would never have known anyone was here. The hardwood was in pretty bad shape. It had a lot of scratches and dents. These were all sanded out and the finished product looks great. Their dustless sanding is wonderful. Our floors look beautiful. I have nothing but positive comments about their work. I highly recommend them.

They pulled up extra staples that I had missed from the carpeting; they moved the rest of the furniture that needed to be moved; and then proceeded to install the flooring and do repair work over the next 2 days. It was very smooth & organized. There were 2 workers on the job.

We stayed out of the house and they came in and did it. Very professional. We would up having to pay more to get the no-dust service. It wasn't cheap but they did a good job.

We were not able to use the Deal because there was no way to match the color or the level of the floor immediately adjacent to the floor. The company was very professional, and we have nothing against them, but we weren’t able to hire them.

We had just gone under contract on our home when I first called Bobby Lovell. We had used him at our previous home to refinish floors, and had had excellent results. He promptly came out and gave an estimate. I immediately scheduled for him to come out and start on 09/18/12. When we found out that our closing date was going to move up to the 14th of September, he was able to start work a day earlier. He and his crew worked extremely fast, cleaned up the area nicely afterwards, and the floors look pristine. They started on a Monday, and we were able to start walking on the finished floors the following Saturday. Bobby was extremely easy to work with, easy to contact with questions, and very responsive. He made good suggestions, and always explained what they were doing and why. The men on his crew were very helpful, and worked fast. I highly recommend using Lovell's when refinishing your floors. Did I mention that the floors are pristine?! What a difference this made in our new home!

We found this company through Angie's List and Mr. Lovell was prompt and came out to give us an estimate at a timely manner. We decided to use them over other companies based on price ( they were in the middle). The job was started and finished on time. The end results were what we expected and are very happy with how the floors turned out. Our main complaint is not with the actual work on the floors but with the company itself. On the companies website it states no sub contractors and we indeed did have sub contractors ( which were amazing luckily)! Mr.Lovell never once called or stopped by to see how the job was going and when we stopped in to see how things were going the first day we realized they were not using the dustless system which we had in our contract and were paying for. When trying o contact Mr.Lovell we spoke to an angry women who stated that the number we were calling was Mr.Lovell's personal number ( we got the number off his website) and she then proceeded to hang up on us. When did did reach Mr.Lovell he agreed to remove the dustless option off our bill. Overall we were just disappointed in the lack of communication with Mr.Lovell and that we ended up with sub contractors when it clearly stated they do not use sub contractors. In the end we are satisfied with the way the floors look and are not able to reccomend Lovells because you do not know who will be showing up to do your floors.

Overall we are reasonably satisfied with the end result. The floors look pretty good. Lovell's was recommended to us by a company we had selected to remodel our kitchen. This was done based on assurances from the kitchen remodeler that their relationship is such they can get them (Lovells) to respond promptly to keep schedules coordinated. During the process there are a number of issues that may or may not be of concern to other potential customers. Primarily the complaint we had has to do with responsiveness. Rarely did Lovell's arrive when they indicated they would. Usually delayed by a day or two. It did require getting assistance from the kitchen remodeler to help on a couple of occasions. Another concern we had was different people showing up to continue the job. This resulted in a few areas of concern falling through the cracks (i.e. squeaks in sub floor in bedroom were not addressed prior to install new hardwood floor). This was because the person who came that particular day hadn't gotten a hand down from the owner or original installer who started the job. Unfortunately I could not be there the day of the bedroom to remind them be sure and fix the squeaks before putting the floor down. Minor matter but worth noting, reliability in communication had some weaknesses...in what I was told did not always square with what another person was told. Once, that would have been considered an occurance but it seemed to happen 3-4 times. At that point I decided that it was not just an occurance but an indication. To be overall as fair as possible, Lovell's is located in Dayton, KY and the work contracted for is in West Chester, OH. I believe the distance and commute contributed to the responsiveness and consistency in support...working in Norhern Kentucky your results may vary.

These guys are great and work hard to fix any problems and make things right. I would use them again in a heartbeat. While I had to pay more for the stain and finish I had specifically selected, I knew up front exactly what everything would cost, so there were no surprises. They used the DCS and that was great, so we had very little sawdust to deal with, even thought they masked off rooms where needed. We did encounter some unexpected problems, and Bobby did an excellent job communicating the options and costs. The final product looks spectacular. Bobby even had 2 pieces of shoe moulding stained to match the floor after they had completed the job, so those could be installed later, and they match the new floor perfectly.

The finished work was and is still excellent. The floors look beautiful. One thing that they could have done differently - there was a one day delay in the second coat of polyurethane because the first coat was not dry. When the technician told us about the delay he mentioned that in order for the polyurethane to dry in one day the thermostat should be set at 70°F, at least. If he had mentioned this when he left the day before, we would have put the thermostat up with no delay. Still no big deal. Other than that, there were a couple of times when they got there later than they told us, but not too much later. And the floors really look great. Frank

The quality of the foor installation and refinishing was excellent. The fingering in of the new dining room floor makes the transition from new to old wood blend together very well - it is extremely difficult to tell any difference between the old and new. Color and finish coat look great. The challenges (minor frustrations): The removal and disposal of the removed carpet was included in our bid - unfortunately the pile of carpet is still sitting in my garage and has not been picked up. Closet doors were removed and not re-installed. After a call to the owner I was told someone would be out to take care of these items. He told me someone would be out on Saturday but could not commit to a time. No one showed. I reinstalled the closet doors myself but still have the carpet taking up space in my garage.

They did a great job. Their prices were fair and they did good work.

They sanded and refinished the existing hardwood floor in our home. We also purchased hardwood flooring from them and they installed. it. The team of subcontractors he uses is very unprofessional, used profanity, did not repair marks in the floor they damaged. We had a horrible experience with this company. I do not feel they stand by their work.

We were very pleased with their work and the price we paid. I felt very comfortable with them being in our house especially since we had it done while we were out of town.

I used Angie's List to find them. The owner was very responsive and very professional. He was also very accommodating to meet my timing needs especially since I was having a new baby. He also worked over the weekend to get the job done. I was thrilled. I learned that we really shouldn't measure the depth of our picture frame. He talked to me about it. It's all beautiful. The people who saw it also think it's beautiful. They were not great with the communication, though. They were not always here whenever they said they would. I wish they would've called instead of me having to call them.

Jeff is very trustworthy, I have used him before for installing a new kitchen, and easy to communicate with. We were comfortable leaving him alone while we went out to do errands. He brought in a second person to do some of the cutting around tricky corners. They did a beautiful job. The floor looks wonderful. And they cleaned up and put their tools away between Saturday and Sunday when the job finished. Jeff purchased less expensive flooring that was first rate but was discounted because it had some knots in the planking-- this did not detract from the appearance at all --they were hardly detectable. He also got rid of the squeaks under the plywood flooring by adding special screws. We are very satisfied.

They did a great job and the price was excellent for the amount of work done. The floors look great! I would highly recommend this company.

They did an excellent job. The floors look great. They even managed to remove the dents someone made with a hammer in the floors many years ago and the dark water stains. Since they used the dustless system, there was absolutely no dust, not even on our dark cherry furniture that was in the room right next to all the sanding!!!!! I highly recommend them.

The crew came on time and worked hard in the heat. I paid extra for the dustless sanding, which is not really dustless, but is a huge improvement over the past. Very light clean-up after. (Still, I recommend those with breathing problems not try to sleep in the house as I did to save on hotel bills and imposing on friends.) The floors look fine, and when they vacuumed out the dust from the HVAC, they also pulled out tons of carpet fibers from whenever the carpets were pulled up from the floors by the previous owner, who was maybe not the laziest and most incompetent DIY-er in the world, but pretty darn close to the top of that list. So, I'm grateful to the crew for being so thorough. I found Bobby a little hard to deal with, not very friendly or easy to communicate with. For instance, I'm disabled and was moving furniture with the help of my son. For the heaviest pieces, we waited until the work day thinking that the crew would help us with those, but they don't have insurance for that. This was stated on the back of the contract, but I didn't see the back of the contract. I'd recommend they call a few days or a week ahead of time to review things like this for the more absent-minded and inexperienced among their customers.

They were really nice and our floors are beautiful. Originally came out to install oak floors in our kitchen and our dining room and ending up also redoing the floor in our hallway to match. Great punctuality. Got the job done in a timely manner.

Overall I was very pleased with the job that Lovell?s did. They did the following: · Sanded and refinished about 900 sq ft of hardwood flooring. This included dustless sanding and 3 coats of stain. · Installed ¾ x ¾ oak shoe molding throughout · Installed 4 oak thresholds It took them about 2 ½ days to complete the project. I was not living in the house yet so there was no issue with having to be out of the way. Robert Lovell was always vey courteous, professional and prompt in responding to my phone calls and emails. The guys who came out were also very courteous, friendly and professional; James was one of the refinishers and also supervised the job. There were only a couple of very minor issues that Lovell?s promptly responded to. I worked directly with James to get them resolved. Prior to Lovell?s doing the job, I had painted the baseboards with white semi-gloss. James and Dale did a really good job not marking up the baseboards when they removed the old molding and sanded. I have not had to do hardly any touch up. I did feel the price on the thresholds was a bit high based on another estimate that I had received. I would definitely use Lovell?s again. I would refer them to people I know; in fact, I have referred them to my parents. My parents used Lovell?s to do the same thing to the 3 bedrooms in a house they just bought. My parents were also pleased with the outcome of that job.

They did a fabulous job. The technician worked with me to find a good product. He made some recommendations, which I liked since I knew nothing about hardwood floors. He even met me near my job just to show me what recommendations he had. He did not want to presume that I would like his choices. I really did like what he showed me. I had purchased two specials from Angies list for so many square feet, about 200 square feet, however my room was bigger so it cost me more, plus I had a closet to do also. They told me originally that it would be a 2-day process. But, they finished the job in 1 day. I was impressed. It did not take as long as they thought, and they did a fabulous job. The cost of hardwood is just high. I know their pricing was good because I had priced around. The technician was great to work with and very professional.

I am not a happy customer. Please understand. The floors look good.. The workmen I dealt with were polite and hardworking. John, the installer of the wood floor in the study, and Dale the floor refinisher were great. The Owner, Bobby Lovell, on the other hand was distant, uninvolved, misleading, and totally inconsiderate of my schedule and logistics complications. As I explained to Bobby via email and personal conversations, my husband was working out of town and it took a great deal of effort for me to arrange the logistics of moving furniture and keeping two cats, a dog and three people off the floors for four days, His inflexibility with scheduling resulted in our living in chaos for 12 days.. The installation of the wood floor in the study had to be done on Friday, 4/15 and starting the sanding/staining and sealing of the study and the existing flooring could not be done until the following Thursday, 4/21. This required us to be out of the house from Friday, 4/22 until Monday evening 4/25. It took a lot of manipulation but I adjusted to his scheduling and made it happen. Due to the scheduling inflexibiltiy we lived in chaos for 12 days. After spending a muddy weekend in our RV, I called Bobby Monday morning and received his assurance that the floors would be done and ready to walk on between 7 and 8 that evening. As we sat outside the house at 6:30 pm. the Lovell work team arrived to let us know that they had run behind that day and were just then arriving at the house to finish the job if we wanted them to. If we wanted them to? That would mean we would be sitting in our driveway until 11 pm or later that night! They assured us they would be back at the house by 8:30 Tuesday morning and the floor would be ready to walk on by 11 - 11:30. My daughter rearranged her plans for an out of town trip and stayed home to keep the animals upstairs while the work was being done and the floor dried. I had to rearrange delivery of a new refrigerator and incur the additional expense of furniture movers since my husband had to go back out of town on Tuesday.. The workers did not show up until after 11:00 the next morning. My daughter was not able to leave for her trip out of town until after 3. We did not receive a call, excuse, or apology from Bobby Lovell. Not even the courtesy of leaving the customary instructions for "caring for your new floor". What we received was a rude email signed by "Management" without even the lip service of "thank you for your business demanding the remaining due amount be paid to Bobby Lovell personally instead of to the Company. No, I am not a happy customer.
