Description of Work: We called them to repair an ice maker for our 26 yr. old refrigerator, and repair our 15 yr. old electric range. About three days after the service call, they called us back to let us know the cost of the parts to repair the ice maker, and the range. Parts for the range were no longer available and due to the repair cost for the ice maker, we decided to replace the appliances rather than repair them. The service man was very friendly and knowledgeable. From my experience with them so far, I will probably use them sometime in the future.

Description of Work: HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! - (It's long) - {Call Plumb Tite instead} | | To make sure it was done right and with quality parts, I called a plumber to hook up my ice maker water line to my new fridge/freezer. Sure Best Buy said they would do it for $135, but they would just unroll some copper tubing and put on a saddle valve (which has to be cleaned out every 2 years and dissolves in 8-10.) | |I paid Niceley's $59 to come out for the estimate. After some measuring and agreeing that I would unhook the dishwasher and pull it out from the wall, the estimate came back 3 days later: $349 and 2 hours of work. Counting on a professional install with actual plumbing that would not require maintenance (i.e saddle valves), I scheduled the appointment. BTW - This was a 20 foot job fairly straight forward. Soldering the valve under the sink was the hard part. | |Apparently Niceley's niceties were over: =^( |(For the record I am not a yeller. I have worked in retail for half my life and know how to get my point across to an angry customer civilly.) | |1 - A HALF HOUR LATE! | My day was booked solid. I unhooked and pulled out the dishwasher and planned out how much time I had before jumping into the car to my next appointment. He was 1/2 hour late, "Oh, well, it says here that I'm supposed to be here at..... oh, sorry about that." he says. I told him we had to reschedule since I didn't have time to stay at the house for the 2 hours. He looked at my planner and was amazed how busy I was and said, "Wow you are busy. We can get it done quick." Solution: My Mother-In-Law said she would stay home while he worked. | |2 - A SADDLE VALVE (instead of a soldered on valve) and a roll of copper tubing! | Before he got started I noticed he had a saddle valve and 2 rolls of copper tubing. I was visibly unhappy and told him I was under the impression he was going to install a permanent valve for $349. "I'm sorry you thought that. We don't spec out every part and nail. The entire job is $349" (I assumed that calling a plumber there would be some actual plumbing done. I could have called Best Buy for a saddle valve install, for only $135!) | |3 - REFUSAL OF SERVICE #1 | "Go ahead and do it." I finally told him. My day was packed, my kitchen was disassembled, I needed it done. Was I happy? No. Was there going to be a permanent valve? No. Was I paying $200 more for the same thing from Best Buy? Yes. But, it had to be done today. "Go ahead and do it." I said. "You don't seem happy. I need to make a call." and the service guy walked away to the other room and called the office. | |4 - "WE COULD BE ON ANOTHER JOB. OUR TIME IS VALUABLE." - RUDENESS | The service guy started to tell me how valuable his time was and how he could be on another job. I told him to stop. My time is also valuable and in fact I just told him to do the job, which is more than I want to pay. Therefore, my time is more valuable than his. Also he saw my schedule and was amazed how packed it was. NEVER tell a customer how "valuable" your time is. Incredibly rude! | |5 - REFUSAL OF SERVICE #2 - AND HE WALKED OUT THE DOOR! | Again I told him to "just go ahead and do the job." I didn't have time. He said I wasn't happy and we will have to reschedule AND HE WALKED OUT THE DOOR! He got in his truck and drove away! | |6 - RUDE OFFICE! - WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE OWNER'S NAME! | I called Niceley's office to complain that the service man just walked out. The lady at the front desk was rude and said that she couldn't do anything about the price or the part selection. I asked to speak with the owner and she told me he wasn't in. Me: "When will he be in?" Her: "I don't know." Me: "What's the owner's name?" Her: "Give me your name and number and I'll have him give you a call." She WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE OWNER'S NAME! No matter how many times I asked. (By the way his name is Steve. It's on their website. Public information, and she hides it like it is a government secret? This just makes customers mad! Always give the higher up's name if asked. It gives you more credibility!) | |RESOLUTION: |Hired 'PLUMB TITE'! and got an ESTIMATE REFUND! |A - I called 'Plumb Tite' within the hour. They came out that afternoon, waived the estimate fee, gave me a price of $210 with soldered on valve under the sink. I said, "Do it." The Plumb Tite service man got the parts from his truck and did it right then! And it was done in an hour and twenty minutes. YEAH Plumb Tite! =^) |B - I went to Niceley's to get my $59 back from the estimate. "We don't refund estimates." Me: "Is Steve, the owner, in?" "No." Me: "Do you know when he will be in?" "No, but I can have him give you a call." When I mentioned how the service man REFUSED to do the work after I gave him permission to do it two times, that was a breach of contract. By accepting my money they promised to do the work at the quoted price. The service man left, thus breaking the promise. So Niceley's needed to refund my money. I finally got my check in the mail for the $59 estimate refund. | |CONCLUSION on Niceley's: |1 - A HALF HOUR LATE! |2 - A SADDLE VALVE! (instead of a soldered on valve) |3 - REFUSAL OF SERVICE #1 |4 - "WE COULD BE ON ANOTHER JOB. OUR TIME IS VALUABLE." - RUDENESS |5 - REFUSAL OF SERVICE #2 -AND HE WALKED OUT THE DOOR! |6 - RUDE OFFICE! - WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE OWNER'S NAME! | |BTW - I marked Yes on "Was the service performed by the provider?" because I hired them, they just refused the work. And Quality was rated on the parts being used. | |RESOLUTION - I called Plumb Tite. You should call Plumb Tite too. =^)

The details of this job were explained before the job was scheduled. Everything was to be performed to standard industry practices using quality materials designed to last many years. The majority of refrigerators/ice makers in homes today are connected in the manner we were proposing. However, we are not plumbers and have never advertised as such. Once it was obvious the customer wanted the work completed in a different manner than we were intending to do, we recommended he call a plumber. (Member name removed) said he would accept our materials and job if it were priced cheaper. We did not want to do this job knowing the customer was not going to be happy with our work. We refunded every penny without issue. We are sorry for any misunderstanding and any bad feelings. We do not see where this encounter warrants an F rating, though. From the complaint it appears (Member name removed) compares us to plumbing companies. We are not a plumbing company, nor do we advertise that we are. Again, once it was apparent the customer wanted a job requiring a licensed plumber, we recommended he call one and refunded the charge for the trip. Our goal is 100% satisfaction. If someone won't be completely satisfied with a job, we do not want to do it.

THEY INSTALLED A PIPELINE FOR THE ICEMAKER, BUT HAD TO GO THROUGH THE FLOOR TO THE BASEMENT. WE STILL THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS PRETTY HIGH FOR INSTALLATION ONLY. THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY THOUGH.

Thanks for your business and your review of this visit. I did research this visit and found the water line installation cost to be $175. This included the copper tubing and a new inline water filter installed. Copper lines do tend to cost a bit more, but hold up much better than the cheaper plastic water line that some others use. The filter price by itself is $35 -$40, not counting installation. This brings the water line and installation down to app $135. Thanks for the opportunity to explain the pricing in a bit more detail. Please don't hesitate to call with any questions you may have.

I PROBABLY COULD HAVE DONE THIS MYSELF, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW HOW. THE PRICE I PAID, AS A RESULT, SEEMS EXTREME FOR WHAT THEY DID. WHEN HE WAS MOVING IT BACK INTO PLACE, I VOICED MY CONCERN ABOUT THE COPPER ICE MAKER WATER SUPPLY LINE BEHIND IT. HE SAID NO PROBLEM. SURE ENOUGH IT BEGAN TO LEAK AFTER IT WAS MAKING A SPRAYING NOISE. IT ONLY LEAKS WHEN THE ICE MAKER IS REFILLING. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT IT, HE SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A SEPARATE PROBLEM, AND I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE TO PAY ANOTHER SERVICE CALL FEE BEFORE HE WOULD COME OUT.

This member was informed of the cost before any work was performed. She approved the repair at the quoted cost. She chose to purchase a refrigerator cleaning brush, which our technician instructed her how to use to prevent future repairs. This was done as a courtesy to try to SAVE her money in the future! In regards to her comments about the water leaking, she was told it would only be an additional charge if it was not related to anything our technician did. We absolutely stand behind our work and craftsmanship, but we cannot possibly warranty the entire refrigerator. Also, it is very likely this is a separate problem because if it were the copper water supply line going to the refrigerator, it would leak all the time, not just when the ice maker is filling, as she states in her complaint. This is why she was told ahead of time that there MAY be separate charges for this call. We are not willing to repair a problem that was not created by our technician, at no charge.
