Huff's Tree Service

This company is most disappointing. I scheduled an appointment for a specific time on July 22, 2015. Half an hour before they were supposed to show up I got a call saying they were running a half-hour late. So, because I'm on a tight schedule, I rescheduled for the following day. The next day, they didn't even bother to call. After waiting nearly 20 minutes for them to show up, I called and cancelled the appointment. This is no way to run a business. Apparently they have more business than they can handle so they don't mine... and they probably don't need yours, either. The company contacted me and apologized for the lack of follow-up on my request for a quote. Since then, they quoted me a very fair price, and I have decided to use Huff's to have a tree removed. Once they complete the job I'll add more information to this review. So far, I'm satisfied they are making a genuine effort to make things right. Oct. 5, 2015: They completed the work today and did an excellent job. Mike and his crew member got the job done quickly. They worked hard cleaning up and were very pleasant to work with. Theh original problems we had were due to miscommunication. Since then, they went out of their way to make things right. I wholeheartedly recommend this company.

The were prompt and responsive for the estimate as well as the cutting and grinding of the stump. They used a compact scissor lift to reach the branches which really made the work a lot faster and it did not damage the yard even though it was still soft from rain the night before. The were fast, professional and polite, meeting all my expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

It went just great. We just had a fabulous time trying to clean up afterwards and everything.

I called 5 companies over 2 hours with the intent to schedule an estimate. Huff's was the only company that called me back that same day. I didn't expect companies to be able to come out that same day, I just needed to plan ahead, and I was surprised that more companies didn't call back for several days. Anyway, William at Huff's was who I spoke with - he's the manager there, it turns out. He set up a time for the next day, and was there at the exact moment when he said he would be. He's a young guy who was very professional and surprisingly a good listener. Most professionals tend to look through you while you ask your naive questions about the project (I'm sure I am guilty of this at my job sometimes) but he explained details about whether or not the entire tree should come down and whether or not the fence needed to be removed. His explanations rang sound - he didn't try to obscure or exaggerate the project using jargon. Also, he seemed to be very aware of all aspects of the project, start to finish. After that he quoted me a reasonable price and time estimate. Another group came by the next day to estimate, not on time, was busy sizing up my ignorance of tree services instead of the project, blew off my questions, then quoted me pretty high. Huff's suddenly looked very good in contrast. After hearing a few other estimates, some higher some lower, I would have stuck with Huff's even if they had quoted 3000$ - because William was, in comparison to these other people, trustworthy. Huff's has you send in a contract to work with them, which I at first was a little irked at, but then all these lame ducks who had not called me back initially started calling and texting, like 6 days later, promising lower prices for (to them) a sight-unseen project. The cost of breaking the Huff' s contract I think was 10% maybe? But I then actually saw the contracting thing as a mark of professionalism. Sure, some other company promises to save me 300$ after they know I'm in contract with Huff's, but can I trust them to come do the project on time? To be actually properly insured? To not leave chunks of wood all over my lawn? To not be casing my house for later burglary? Ok so the last one may be far fetched, but some of these folks seemed a little shady. In addition, I called Huff's later with the rather annoying (I'm sure) need to move up the project 4-5 days sooner than he had quoted me. I spoke with William (not someone unfamiliar with the project) and he was very polite when I asked to move earlier- no signs of eye-rolling. I was apologetic, but he did not take the moral high ground or anything. Instead he acted like he really wanted my business. He set a new date, (earlier than my request) and it was done exactly when he said it would be. Long story, but basically, the group did excellent, safe, work. It took exactly how long they said it would. They took down a section of fence then put it back neatly. They were prompt and honest, and I was just impressed with this company. I would have it done again by them and I would have paid them 3000$ (instead of 2400$) if they had quoted it. I was left thinking "That's how you treat customers". Excellent experience.

All was good except for the end. The tree was removed in a two day period - really bog tree. All was good until I called about the uprooted piles of dirt mixed with tree shards. I was then informed they did not clean that up - we just needed to rake it level and remove some of the wood chips. That, along with water would take care of it. It wouldn't have been so surprising had we known this, but I finally called to find out they only uproot the tree but do not clean up after.

After some negotiation on price and service, a date was set. Mike and his crew (five guys) showed up with the latest equipment and once they started, it was obvious that they were experts in their particular field. After three hours, the work that was contracted was met to my complete satisfaction. I would do business with them again!

Mike and his crew were punctual, showed up with his crew and equipment on time. Huff's crew were very skilled and professional. They used a cherry picker to start at the top of the tree and very carefully move down the trunk. My electrical line ran through the tree and they did not damage it or anything else on my property. They were even careful to not harm the several squirrel families living in the tree, but gave them time to relocate. They removed the tree successfully and cleaned up all the wood and material from the tree. They even leveled out a berm I had that ran across my backyard from a new sewer line installation. I could not have been happier with the crew and the work done. I feel that the cost was very reasonable considering the size and difficulty of the job. It pays to go with a professional highly rated company.

They did a great job. A+ They missed on branch I asked to remove but they came back out and removed it with no fuss. I just recommended them to my neighbor. They gave me a fair price, much better than than 3 overpriced companies I hired in the past.

Scheduling was straightforward, they completed the cutting and removal in a day as planned. They had to come back a week later to grind a stump, but didn't ask for payment until that was complete. Overall a fair price and nice work.

The service was done correctly but there were a couple of issues. 1. After we got the initial estimate we never received a phone call etc. for a date to come out and actually perform the work, so three weeks later I called. 2. The day they came out they did not knock on my door (I was home) and when I spoke to the workers outside I requested that they simply knock/ring my doorbell when they were finished. That did not happen either. I told the office before the bill was mailed of the Angie's List 5% discount and it was not applied to my bill. It has been two weeks now and I am still awaiting the correct bill. So again, the work was done fine, but the customer service was a little wacky. The prices are also pretty decent.

Excellent service - showed up exactley on time for the free estimate. Performed the work great and it was even better with the Angies list discount/coupon. If I ever need this type of service again they are who I will call!!

Appt was for 8am. I took off work. Received call at 8:13 that they will Ned to reschedule until Tuesday I have to work and since I had already taken Monday off...Tuesday just would not work. I was td they were open all afternoon today. I then took the entire day off. Got another call at 4 pm saying they could be there at 5! I had waited all day and had a 5:30 appt. I will try someone else.

The trees look lovely now - so well-trimmed. The men removed all evidence of limbs cut. Our property was totally cleaned of their work. They are bonded and insured. We do not hesitate to recommend them and will certainly call them again.

I called and they worked me in since my power was off due to wind blowing over tree and taking out MY power line the night before. Super fast response to emergency so power could be turned back on. I "BLINKED" and the fallen tree was gone. All the branches, twigs, yard completed cleaned of debris. Very accommodating.

These guys are Aces! I found Huff's responsive, quick to provide a quote, showed up on time and did a wonderful job. I had Huff's remove two large willow trees from my back yard. Their equipment is very good and they know what they're doing. The best was the finished product: Not only were the trees gone and the stumps ground, but they racked up the twigs and debris. Very fast.

Nothing, never showed up. kept promosing to show up next week, when we would call.

It went well. They arrived when scheduled for the estimate. The trees look great. Several of my neighbors have since had them work on their trees. The only thing I did not care for is that they did not call to tell me they were coming to do the work as they said they would. They came while we were out of town.

All went fine, the crew trimmed the trees, cut and removed all the debris. They also cut the larger logs for us to keep for our fireplace. The workers were all neat, professional and friendly.

Called them and they came out and provided an estimate. Were extremely efficient, professional and polite. My husband decided to use and spoke with someone who said they would call us back to schedule, that was over almost a month ago and we never received another call to schedule. It's disappointing and unprofessional so we are going to go with someone else. I understand they're busy but they should at the very least communicate with potential customers.

When I first called Huff's, Mike came out later that same day to give me an estimate on trimming back two large trees. It took them over a month to come out, because they were so backlogged with other jobs. But, when they did come out, it was three guys doing the job. They were very professional, very nice, did an awesome job on my trees, and cleaned up everything before leaving. I would definitely use these guys again.

Everything went very well. I even had one little thing that I wanted to have done that hadn't been included in the estimate and it was taken care with of with no problem and no objection. One of the tree guys reminded me that he had come to our house and snow-bladed our driveway last winter. I not hesitate to use Huff's Service again, either for tree work, or for snow clearing.

I called twice on two different weeks and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. They did not show either time and I never received a call to explain or reschedule. Very poor first contact with a prospective customer.

This was the second time I used Huff Tree Service. Both times I have been very pleased. Mike came out right away and walked over the ground with me, wrote out an estimate that was really less than I expected. Then we had the storm and Huff's was very busy all over town cleaning up the debris which put off the date to do my job for a couple of weeks. However, he drove to my home on a Sunday and asked if they could work that day. They have a young man who has a degree in horticulture and knows all about trees. They are going to help me save a 40 year old blue spruce which is struggling. I highly recommend this company.

Very professional, and made sure the job got done. Missed a couple scheduled days due to the storm and emergency cleanup (understandable). Seemed like they did a good job. They know their trees for sure. After finishing the work, there was some work that needs to be done, overlooked by their guys. Said they will be back out in the next week or two, so waiting to see how they take care of the last part of the job before I finalize posts here.

We had a bad storm come through and took down alot of trees in the area. I have called them several times and its a fax line.
