We aim to be one of Wichita's best plumbers. We are a family owned and operated plumbing company since 1950. We pay you $5 per minute for every minute our plumbers are late up to $300, 24 hour (including emergency) plumbing service at no extra charge with straight forward pricing so you know the price before work begins, up to 2 year guarantee on repairs. Drug tested and background checked employees, all plumbers are licensed. We are also experts at sewer line and gas line repairs, as well as drain cleaning and unplugging services.

Description of Work: It was okay. The service crew showed up on time technically. But they have a 3 hour window to show up in. They showed up about 2 hours into that window. Then, I found out that they couldn't actually perform the service I bought, due to the age of my home, and the changes in plumbing code at the city level. The service they did perform was supposed to take two days, and they got started real fast, but didn't finish until the next week, because the city inspector didn't show up when they were supposed to. But they didn't call to tell me about the hold-up until Friday afternoon. I would have really liked to have known well before then. Overall though, the service was good I guess. The plumber was very knowledgeable and straight-forward and didn't try to B.S. me. He just told it like it was and wasn't rude about it. In the end, they did the job they were supposed to do, and it appeared they did it well. There haven't been any issues since. I just ended up paying a LOT more, for a service I didn't want, but needed.

Description of Work: Part of the work that was done, was warranty work on a water softener they previously installed in my house a couple of years ago. They also repaired a toilet that wasn't flushing right. The plumber was prompt, and took care of ordering and replacing the faulty part on the softener. I had the plumber fix the toilet since he was at my house anyway. I have used this company before and have always been very happy with my experiences with them.

Description of Work: I had to have my water softner replaced and also my sewer ejector pump. I had 4 different servicemen during this 3 day process, and all of them were very polite. When they ended up having to do things a little different than they estimated, I was not charged any additional fee. They did a great job. I am extremely happy with all my services and will call them again when needed!

Asked for an estimate over the phone. They said they don't provide estimates. Guy gets to house, gives us their printed out sheet saying the estimate is $1000. Had I gotten this information over the phone, I would not have hired them. Since I was already in $75 for a service call, and was already 24 hours into needing it replaced and out of time, I just went with them. They did good quality work, but they don't tell you the truth over the phone. I will not use them again for that reason. Their price is outrageous for a hot water heater replacement. I wish I could go back and un-hire them.

I would like to respond to Member’s negative review by stating the facts in the matter. First of all, Member states that he will not use us again. Since the date of this review, we have worked for him on 3 different occasions, the last being 8/19/2011. Apparently we are doing something right or he really wouldn’t have used us again 3 different times! He also told the plumber on the job that we were the only company that would come out on such short notice. This was a rental house and Member was not there when we arrived so the plumber had to wait until he did arrive. Good thing we don’t charge by the hour! Below are the facts of what really happened on the service call Member is referencing in his review. 1. We never give estimates over the phone for water heater installations because it is impossible to be accurate without seeing the installation location and whether or not any modifications will be required because of the code requirements as mandated by the Uniform Plumbing Code and the City of Wichita (It is required by the City of Wichita that we get an inspection on all water heater installations). If we were to quote a price, should we quote a low price and have it go up when we see the job and realize that there is not enough combustion air and we have to install a couple of air grills in the room? Or should we quote a high price then adjust down as needed based on code requirements. If we did this, I have a feeling no one would use us because of the quoted high price. When we replace an existing water heater, it has to be installed according to the current Uniform Plumbing Code, which means the heater being replaced, might have been installed when the now required code modifications were not required. Until we can see the actual installation, it is impossible to know this over the phone. 2. Member states he was already in $75 for a service call. This is not true. The service call fee on his job was $49, which we waived, so he was not into us for any service call fee! 3. He states we don’t tell the truth over the phone. Again this is not a correct statement. All of our call takers follow a set script which does not include any false statements. They simply go through the procedure that is outlined to get the necessary information so we can go out and take care of the plumbing problem.

I had some really slow drains, and wasn't sure what to do about it. My parents have used Ben Franklin, so that's who I called. They were able to get someone over the next day, and the tech gave me the price before doing any work, which I thought was awesome. He went over everything that he was going to do, he even let me ask questions and watch what he was doing. The tech was respectful of my property and my home. He wore floor savers and came in and out of the door closest to where the work was to be done. The price that he gave me at the beginning was the same price that he charged me at the end. I didn't have an unexpected charge. I really like that about this company. Thank you Benjamin Franklin Plumbing!
