Passow Remodeling

My daughter contacted several contractors about finishing the basement on her condominium townhome prior to moving into it with two other family members. She found Ryan Passow, of Passow Remodeling, personable and articulate, and he outbid the other contractors contacted. The team completely finished the basement, with a bedroom, full bathroom, living area, and wetbar. Enough was left unfinished for storage. They also repainted the walls, doors, and trim throughout the home, and performed several other updates (adding track lighting in one area, hanging ceiling fans in most rooms, adding bathroom grab bars). They remodeled a laundry area that was slightly too small for a toploading washer/dryer, allowing those to fit in the space provided. My (adult) granddaughter was the "project manager" and was onsite 2-3 times a week to see how the project was going. She found the members of the team easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and very professional. The final results were stunning. We intend to work with Passow Remodeling to do some updates to our own home.

They did a good job on the porch. Lack of communication resulted in a less than satisfactory job on the door. At times it was difficult to contact the company.

I set up an appointment; on the day of the arrival time; no one showed up. I called the office twice without any response; on the third time someone finally answered; she said she'd look into it and call me back; she never did. I later received an eMail from them asking me how the service went.

Got email from them same day asking for status of the house (empty or occupied). I had advised in the first email about the possible dates for repair and who lives in the house and their contact info. Either way, I haven't from them for 9 days, my wife and I called them several times. Finally they replied to call them, which we had done already, was advised that they will go to the house in Topeka, which they did on 12/09/2014. After looking at the repair options, they advised my daughter (who lives there) that they cannot repair the damage outside of the house with the amount provided in the coupon. I got an email from them on the 11th, called them and was advised that it will cost upwards of $500+ for the repair, which includes a window replacement, since they cannot use the window that is already there, (the repair is for the window sill, the wood is rotten). I was not prepared to spend that much, so since they cannot provide the service that I paid for, I would like my money back please. Thanks

They were not prompt in responding to my purchase. and scheduling the service. I had to contact you to get contact information. When the handyman got there he only completed 2 things on my list, replacing the parts in a toilet and hanging a towel rack. He was unable to get a window shade hung because the window frame was metal. He was going to talk to his boss and get back to me. I have not heard from them since October 117 and today is November 4. They still owe me a half hour of handyman service and I do not have telephone number to even contact them. Before this experience I was going to talk to them about remodeling my master bath. Not anymore. I want the 30 minute that is still owed to me and that will be the last of Passow for me.

They went above and beyond! After the first day of painting, they called that evening to see if I was satisfied with the paint color I'd chosen. Actually, I was not and appreciated the call. They returned the paint the next morning and purchased a different color I selected. They also repaired the latch on my medicine cabinet, which I'd not been able to figure out in the four years living here! Service and quality of work were truly exceptional - in fact, their painting was better than a "professional" painter I'd used previously (not one from Angie's List). The only downside is that these additional services come at a price, which I did not know until I received the bill. So, please be sure to ask what additional costs any additional services will bring with them.

Did the whole job in two and half days.

I think he should have at least called us after coming to our house. We were waiting for an estimate.

There were understandably some issues along the way but they were resolved quickly.

I am very impressed with the professionalism of the Passow employees. They were at my house before 8:00AM every day, kept me informed of what they were doing and their progress each day. If there was a problem, they included me in resolution of the issue. When they completed work for the day, they made sure the house was secure before they left if I was not at home. Coordination with the electrician and plumber was perfect. One small glitch with the people who measured for the granite counter top, but nothing major and no delay of work progress. The work lasted more days than I initially had hoped for, but that was due to the tile pattern that I wanted, not a problem with the Company. My next project is to renovate my master bathroom and I will definitely use Passow Remodeling for this work.

THey painted about hald of the house. It went very well. They did a nice job, they made accomadatins out of there normal area. They did everything in a timely manner, they did the work at the cost agreed on. I was very pleased with the service.

Things went extremely smoothly. The guys left things cleaned up every single day, and the work is great quality. Ryan Passow checked in with us frequently while the work was being done to update us on time frames and other construction business. He was informative, friendly and professional. We are very pleased with how everything turned out.

Mr. Passow answered my call for an estimate; provided information and scheduled work. The men arrived on time; were very profession and worked efficiently until jobs were completed. Was very satisfied with the work.

It is wonderful. They have made my house into a home!

They were very professional. But he wanted to do somethings completely different than I did. He doesn't understand that this is an old house. I wanted to keep the characteristic as supposed to going with something new and shiny.

The guy did really well and the price was fine.

When painting started, he took a picture and sent to me asking if I was sure I wanted the color so dark. I did not. He had the paint remixed to a lighter shade which I was extremely pleased with. Also, I changed my mind on a couple of walls (one which he had trimmed already) and he was extremely professional, made my changes and had a wonderful attitude. They were always available by phone. Arrived on time and dates as scheduled. They were very pleasant, courteous, and helpful when I asked for suggestions. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. I would recommend him to anyone wanting a very professional eye-to-detail job; one done on schedule. Clean-up was thorough.

We had a pretty good report with them. They answered a lot of questions and were very nice and knowledgeable.

They were great. He uses really good sub-contractors. When possible, he goes local for the materials he uses. He presents many options, discusses pros and cons, but still lets me make the final decision. He told us when he first started that he goes high on his estimates, so we are not disappointed. Both jobs, he has come in under budget, which is great. We were not caught off guard. He alerts us of any changes instantly.

First thing was late summer of 2011 – I noticed that some of my siding is rotting so I called them out to give me an estimate on replacing that and turn out when his up on the roof and he said I think you need to have your insurance company and check your roof. They did go out and I said yes to the roof that needs to be replace from hale damage so I ask for a couple of quotes one from Passow and was within very close to what the insurance company said it would be and was a $28000 because they also have to take off the roof – we have a cedar shake roof underneath the shingles so they’ve to put everything down – down to the rafter, put shedding all over the roof and shingle and it’s a Victorian roof so it had towers and all kinds of different thing so it took them almost a month to do it but it was an excellent job. The roofing was excellent. They cleaned up well. They also installed a new skylight at the same time. From there they built a side porch for me and lot of the kitchen so it matches the rest of the porches that all in the Victorian house – it match with the others. Then they repair and replaced all the rotting siding that all over the house which was kind of job. I did ask for a quote from them on painting the house but they were little high because there not really painters but I did use another painting company that was on Angie’s list its (Tom Jellison Painting) – he is the one who actually painted the house. Then also another thing that we had done was we talk to Ryan who was at Passow for our kitchen countertops and he gave as the recommendation for a company to get a quote from and we did and we put granite countertops in the kitchen. We had some broken tiles in the kitchen and those were repaired. We have a family room that was carpeted and had a built in sofa in it and we had all that build it torn out and the carpeting torn out and they put in a hardwood floor and it look beautiful so the wood work in the house is all custom made. His carpenter was actually able to find someone who know some of the wood work whether wasn’t any because of the built in and it matches perfectly. Then the last thing that they did a couple of weeks ago was they put gutters on the house. The house never had gutter on it and that is part of the reason why there somewhat rust on the siding. Price for the gutter job was $1600.

The job went very well. . .. No problems. I would definitely use them again.

Met with contractor, discussed project and obtained a proposal. Ultimately selected another contractor but our experience with this contractor was excellent.

We had some ideas but needed but Ryan Passow put together a design that really incorporated all that we expected and more. The crew showed up for work each day at or before 8 am and left at or after 5 pm. Before they left they cleaned up including sweeping dust etc. They were very professional. Mcelroy Plumbing and Warner Electric were used by Passow and the coordination of schedules was excellent. We are very pleased that we chose Passow to do this job.

Excellent job, better then original, they readily informed of any problems And what is needed to fix it. Always up front about what needs to be done, and what is not. They worked hard and finished ahead of what I expected.
