They did a wonderful job changing out the shower fixtures in 2 of my bathrooms. He came up the day after I called to give an estimate and then came the next week to get them changed out. He gave me a couple of different options of how to get to the valves that needed replacing. He was very friendly, prompt, and clean. The hall wall he had to cut through to get to the shower valve looks great after he put it back together. It's smooth and you can't tell there was a hole there. I would definitely recommend using them.
Description of Work: Replaced 2 shower fixtures and wall valves. Had to cut through the walls from the other side to get to the valves.

This was our second project with Jim. Bidding was smooth, back and forth as we redesigned and upgraded many of the parts. The job went smoothly as well. The crew was professional, did a very good job and cleaned up constantly. The end date stretched a bit but not greatly. The final results were beautiful and we love working and entertaining in the space. The only thing we all missed was the opportunity to completely level the floor when everything was gutted. There is one transition from familyroom add-on (done in the 70's) to the original home hallway that is approximately 1 inch. Other than that one spot the rest is perfect. We would have Jim's crew back again.
Description of Work: Full kitchen and familyroom gut and redo. New wood floors, upgraded appliances, granite, glass tiles, etc. Everything was done very well and this is our second experience with Jim's group.

Jim was prompt in responding, quick to come out and give a proposal kept in touch throughout. We really appreciated the fact he communicated, was direct, kept in touch and we always knew what to expect.Even though it was a small job it was carried out perfectly. We look forward to enjoying our new shower. It's beautiful and functional. We had full input as to location of components and his guy Kenny walked us through all the ways of doing things and the virtues and hazards of our decisions. We would definitely have Jim do whatever we need with perfect confidence.
Description of Work: We had a new hand held shower on a sliding bar installed, with diverter and whole new faucet control unit. They had to install in our Terrazzo tile shower so I was a little nervous that it would be an issue......no need to worry!

His prices were reasonable. He did some plumbing repairs and installed a vinyl floor in the bathroom. He also did some electrical work, and some repair work on our wood deck. The interior work he did was really good, but we had some differences of opinion on the exterior work. I would recommend him for the interior work.

Response from Jim Saner's Home Remodeling LLC
We are sorry you did not like our quote. As a company that is bonded and insured we have to be able to make a profit and take care of the people who work with us. We hope you got a great job from the next contractor.
It went well. It took longer than projected but all in all we were very pleased with the finished work.
Description of Work: Completion of the kitchen remodel which included making cabinets to match the existing which was an amazing job done by John the carpenter, who took the trouble to refinish and adjust the stain to make all the cabinets look like they were all done at the same time. Classy work------ The wall tile work was also excellent and they were very fast. Randy, Mr. Saner's handyman was very concientious and perserved to do a great job on the conversion of the outdoor enclosed sunroom into an interior room ( a future office). He was also diligent in cleaning up after completion. He was respectful of my mother who was most affected by their presence during that time. Even the young man who painted the room did a great job. All in all we were very satisfied with their work. I highly and gladly recommend Mr. Jim Saner and his team.

It saddens me to write this VERY poor review, because it involves nice people who had good intentions, but messed up badly! I contacted Jim Saner through this listing after reading a rave review on a beautiful entertainment center he had done. Jim is now the Operations Manager for another company, Kansas City Remodel, and the contract and payments I made were to that organization. Jim made a proposal on my initial cabinet design, which I accepted, and then brought his cabinet maker, John Duncan, on October 26, 2011. I presented both gentlemen with copies of the detailed, scaled design, with paint color choice. We discussed door style (recessed panel) which was specified in the contract. John estimated 'a couple of weeks' for completion. The week before Thanksgiving, I contacted Jim to inquire how the project was coming, and if it would be ready for the holiday. He responded Monday of the holiday week that they were finished, but not painted... but could be painted and delivered before Thursday. I knew the paint would not be dry and hardened for transportation and said to wait. Cabinets were delivered Nov 28, and what a DISASTER! Parts did not fit together, the doors were made with 'raised panels', the cabinets were painted without sanding smooth the facings in several areas, and some fixed parts were assembled and painted with jagged raw edges unfinished. Oh, and the paint job had rough overspray, paint drips, runs and globs in the corners. Calling Jim over, and upon seeing my complaints, Jim asked ME what I wanted him to do! I replied I wanted them made right. The cabinets were removed, partially remade, repainted, reinstalled. A missing shelf took ONE MONTH to obtain. Throughout the ordeal, Jim was very negligent in communication and follow-up. It was up to me to make repeated inquiries and even to prod John Duncan to get the job done. He is one who does not listen, nor pay attention to detail. The cabinets do look nice, if you do not look too closely. The only positive was the nice man, Kenny, who did the electrical wiring and drilled the holes for wire management. He knew what he was doing. Apologizing, after the fact, does not remedy the bumbling, repeated, sloppy errors that accompanied this project. I cannot speak for other types of work the company does, but know I would never again consider them. At the least, I would not have confidence in Jim Saner as a project manager.
Description of Work: Eight feet (8' wide x 7' high) of custom cabinetry was built to house a flat screen TV, electronic equipment, and misc. storage. The top section has glass doors for display. Electrical outlets and lighting were installed.

It was fine. He did a really good job. The first time he ordered a wrong sized sink. He had to order one that would fit. He installed the one that didn't fit in a different bathroom that was smaller and gave me a discount on it. I actually got two sinks done when originally it was supposed to be just one sink.

Do: Answer read questions and answer fully Provide the appropriate estimates asked for instead of what you want to sell Don't: respond with 1 word answers that are unclear and don't really answer the question
Description of Work: The gentleman provided an estimate by email that I had questions on because it was unclear. His responses were terse and did not answer any questions fully. We were real happy with what he did. He came in on budget and pretty much on time which in my experience that is unusual. He did a real good job of walking through everything with us. We got three proposals, he wasn't the cheapest or most expensive. He seemed like he had a good mix of putting in what we wanted without doing more than we wanted. We were very happy with him, we've recommended him to friends of ours too. We are talking about having him redo our master bath next year.

Mr. Tom Saner (co-owner with his brother, Jim) and his team remodeled two of our 1970s bathrooms several months apart. They did a complete tear-out back to the studs in the small shower enclosure in our master bedroom and a tear-out to the studs in our full 2nd floor bathroom around the bathtub. We decided to install Oynx rather than tile for the walls in both locations, and are very happy with that decision. They also tore out the old carpeting and installed the new porcelain tile we selected on both floors. Tom and team also removed the old wallpaper in both bathrooms, installed long-missing exhaust fans in both bathrooms, replaced the existing lighting fixtures with fixtures I purchased, upgraded the electric in both bathrooms to a three-switch plate that controlled the existing lighting plus the new fan, painted both bathrooms with the colors I selected, installed new shower fixtures, and installed grounded electrical outlets by both sinks. We kept our existing marble countertops, sinks, and sink fixtures. The crews working on both bathrooms were prompt, always courteous, and answered all our questions thoroughly before, during, and after the work was done. The tear-down of each bathroom went smoothly, and the crew cleaned up everything and hauled off all the remodeling debris quickly at the end of each day. We were living in the house day-to-day during both projects and hardly noticed dust or any other left-overs after the demolition was completed both times. We encounted two unexpected problems during our remodels. When the team removed the wallpaper in our full bathroom, the existing popcorn ceiling was damaged. Tom and team told us about it immediately and after an extensive discussion of the possible fixes with costs for each, we decided to have the team re-spray the popcorn across the entire ceiling . Tom charged us for only half of this unexpected repair. The second unexpected problem was having to ask them back to increase the structural support for the shower head in our master shower (I'm short and couldn't adjust the shower head settings because of too much movement in the head). One of Tom's workmen returned promptly the day after I called Tom and fixed this. Tom did not charge us for this work. Overall we are very pleased with the quality of Jim Saner's work and their very fair pricing. Our two remodeled bathrooms have been in use now for more than a year, and everything remains perfect. We definitely recommend Jim Saner, Inc. for bathroom remodeling.

Every now and then, you get lucky and find a great contractor who does great work at a great price. Jim Saner is that guy. He did an excellent job remodeling our living room, building a floor to ceiling and nearly wall-length entertainment center with bookshelves and cabinets. We couldn't be happier with the results. My wife and I are very particular people, and we were very particular about what we wanted. They met every expectation. Each morning before I left for work, Jim's millwork subcontractor, Chuck, would give me a full rundown of the work completed, and the work planned for that day. He was very patient as I went through every detail of the project. He also made a number of good design suggestions. Jim was extremely reasonable on the price. He beat the other estimates, and he didn't try to nickel & dime us when we made small changes during the course of the project. The price was the price. I really appreciated that. The living room was partitioned with plastic and kept very clean during the whole process. Every person who had a hand in the project, Jim, Chuck, the painter, and door subcontractor, were all very courteous and respectful. If you are considering Jim Saner for a remodeling project, you might mention this review and he can get you our contact information. We'd be happy to show you first-hand the work that he does. We hope to work with him again on future remodeling projects.
Description of Work: Remodeled living room to add a floor to ceiling and nearly wall-length entertainment center with bookshelves, cabinets, and puck lighting. All cabinetry custom made. Relocated and added power outletts, installed conduits, and re-routed wiring for AV components. Removed nearby ceiling can light and patched ceiling. Entire unit painted white to match existing trim.

I had purchased an elegant roman faucet for my master corner soaker tub, but could not find anyone to install it because there was no access panel to the tub and several pieces of 4 in tile needed to come off to do the job, and I did not have any replacement tile if one got broken in the process. Jim came out and assessed the job, gave us an estimate and a possible date and made a follow-up phone call to see if we had any questions. The handyman he sent out was clean, neat, and very professional & did a very good job. We love our pretty new faucet.

Jim's company finished our basement with great detail and care. The fit and finish of the project was stellar. So much so that we have used them many more times. We did have a small issue with water drainage in the basement, but they were quick to resolve the issue with no money out of pocket. I highly recommed Jim Saner's remodeling if you are looking for a dependable, quality contractor.
Description of Work: Jim Saner's remodeled our basement after a disasterous attempt by our previous contractor. That contractor is part of Angie's List worst contractors. They tore out our old 70's home build basement and plumbed and installed a full bathroom, kitchenette and washer and dryer. They also added a bedroom and two storage rooms, as well as a den area. The job also required install of an egress window.

They employ some extremely skilled workers, one of which (Chuck), we were very impressed with. The only drawback seemed to be in their scheduling (seemed difficult to lock down a time/date at times), which maybe we just weren't used to since we are novices at home repair work. I think since our projects were smaller they squeezed us in between larger projects, which was fine, we just would've liked a bit more communication so we could plan around our work schedules accordingly. At the end of the day, the work we paid for was done well...but due to other factors we were left with a little bit of a bad taste in our mouths.

Jim worked with us from the start suggesting tiles, the euro door, etc. for the bath. His guys worked hard, were there every day and pretty punctual, did the job without a significant mess, got done close to when they originally planned. In this case they did demo, some design, plastering, tiling, plumbing, painting, all done well.
Description of Work: Replaced an old, small bathroom with a new one. Original was old tiles and shower set in concrete. New bath is marble subway tiles, multi heads in shower, euro glass door, all quite an upgrade. In addition, Jim's people finished a third floor room that needed a complete plaster boarding, new woodwork around base and windows, new rail for stair opening, and paint. The room came out looking wonderful. Jim's group was professional, prompt, great to work with, and did followups very quickly.
