Worst experience EVER! We have a small dog and back up to a very busy four-lane road. It was very important that we get a fence installed as quickly as we could upon moving into this house. We contacted Burge because they had done a decent job 10 years prior and didn’t know of any other fence companies to contact. Burge started out by scheduling us the week after we moved. It was actually a week later than we had wanted but we understand how difficult it can be to schedule a new job. We waited that entire week and finally on Friday, they called to say that they would be there the following Monday. The workers did arrive on Monday as promised and put the metal fencing up but did not install the wood fencing OR the multiple gates. The workers left with no communication as to when they would return. We assumed that they had to wait for the concrete to set but since no one said anything, we didn’t actually know. We waited for about 24 hours, figuring they would contact us soon. We were wrong. We called, left messages, talked to their receptionist and sent emails but there was no communication from them. We piled up cardboard and branches in all of the openings to try to keep our dog in the yard. He got out twice and successfully crossed the four-lane road during rush hour on a Friday afternoon. Terrifying! After another week, my husband started contacting them again on Monday to see what was going on. He was finally contacted by someone who said that the “metal shop was behind schedule” and that they would be there that week. No other explanation or apology was given. The fence was finished that week. We’ve had to do some adjustments ourselves because some things weren’t done quite to our standards. I would NOT recommend this company. The next time, I will start with Angie’s List rather than going with someone that we “think” might do a good job.

the initial meeting was good, on time and professional. However when I called back a few weeks later to try to schedule the project I could never get a call back. I tried 5 times to connect and left messages. I NEVER received on return call. I had to assume that my project was of no interest to this company and that they were busy enough. Very disappointing to be so insignificant to not even warrant a return call.

It was good. They put in the fence and I liked it. Their pricing was in line with everybody else.

Michael was very nice and very professional. He even provided bids for our neighbors who were also thinking about replacing their fence and offered a discount. My calls were always promptly returned. The only reason we decided to not use his bid was the cost. It was about $1000 more than the next lowest bid we received. Since we don't anticipate being in this house for a long time, we decided the less expensive fence worked best for us, but we will definitely consider them for our next home.

Tom Burge Fence was a complete waste of my valuable time. I was in a hurry to get a fence installed so I called these guys thinking they would be a quality vendor. They promised to visit my home and do an estimate in less than a week. Three weeks and six calls later, nothing. Each call they said they would call back... the next day, later the same day, within an hour. Never, ever, did they call back. Finally, after wasting three weeks, I got to talk to a real person and was told that they have been real busy and would try to go look at my home soon. I told them to forget it. Shortly thereafter, my wife called Home Depot and they immediately sent out a great fence contractor who was VERY patient with us and put together a great fence within our budget.

Very poor communication. The week prior to the 27th, I called their office twelve times trying to get in touch with Graham to schedule when the workers would be out to my house. He responded ONCE, after hours on Friday prior to the week of the work to state that workers would be out Thursday and Friday of the week of the 27th to perform the work. This confused me since he stated it would take a week to complete, and build the gates I was also having installed. I stated my vacation ended at the end of the week, as we had discussed when we scheduled the work, and would not be available at the house for the finishing of the project. He said he would call this past Tuesday to confirm the work. He never called. I had to call on Wednesday. The poor receptionists know me by name, address, and probably voice. The date of the work came and, of course, it is storming. The downpour precluded any work and I wrote a letter explaining my frustration with the situation and emailed it to the company. I understand there is nothing that could be done about the weather, but I feel my project should have been scheduled first, since I was told there were no projects scheduled for this week at the time Graham and I came to an agreement. I scheduled vacation for this express purpose and felt it necessary to discuss a discount on the project. Fifteen minutes from their closing time today, I got an emailed response from the president of the company stating they are declining finishing my project. He didn't even give the courtesy of a call, or an email to address any of my concerns. I wanted a 'win-win' situation. Obviously he didn't want that. Beware of this company. The quoted prices were okay, but my communications went into a black hole and my grievances went unheard. Only good thing about this situation is that I wasn't offered the opportunity to leave a deposit for the work or sign a contract. If YOU are offered this opportunity, you'd better read the fine print before signing on the line.

They quoted us around $4000 and we are going to use them for the job. The experience has been good so far, we will get a new fence from them next week. They were kind of hard to get a hold of, like, if I called or left a message in the morning, it would probably take them a whole day to call me back but that maybe because they are on another job, which is expected.

I was impressed with the initial meeting with a Burge rep, who was on time, prepared, told me exactly how they would approach the job, and provided a bid before he left. The crew was all business, worked quickly and efficiently, and communicated with me what they were going to be doing. Most of the work was done in a day, and they came back to install the fence soon after. The fence is attractive, sturdy and I think I got a great deal for the money.

The quote was exactly what he gave us. There were no surprises and it was done on time. I will use him again.

Burge fence was quick at responding to my call and came out and gave me an estimate that day. Once the estimate was accepted they were a little difficult to get a hold of but did apologize. They were back out within a 2 week period and finished the fence within a few days. The price was the best out of the 3 companies we called for estimates. I would certainly recommend them again.

My experience was wonderful with this company. They did a great job putting in my 3 rail post and fence. It was about 300 linear feet. They did all the work in a day and a half. Everything went very well with them. The fence still looks great. A field supervisor came a week ago to check on the fence. He made sure everything in the fence was good and made a few enhancements to make sure the fence lasted.

Our deck looks very nice and the fence also is still doing well. Fence and stain.

They gave me a good price and did the job well. Would use again and recommend.

We had been trying to find someone to complete our fence project for over a month. We had some pretty flaky people give us quotes and had some outrageous quotes also. (One was almost $5000!). We finally asked Burge to come out and give us an estimate. They were very nice and actually told us they weren't sure they could do the style they wanted but would research it. They gave us other options (for instance, if we did a vertical fence we could save over $500) but I really wanted the style we picked out. Once we signed the agreement, they were out within a couple weeks and finished the project from start to finish in two days. The fence looks AMAZING and so many neighbors have stopped us outside to tell us they like it. We would definitely use Burge again!

They were very prompt. They went above and beyond. We had some pretty large rock that needed to be moved. I didn't even know about them. They didn't charge us to move them. They even put them exactly where I wanted them instead of just moving them aside.

Overall they did a good job. They did what they were supposed to do.

I waited quite a long time before they would come out and give me an estimate. Then another long time before they fixed the fence. In that all they had to do was replace a pole, reattach a fence section to an existing post, and shave some wood from two gates so they would close, I thought the price was way too much for the work performed. They brought two posts and only had to use one. I think I was charged for two. HOWEVER, the quality of work was ok and I would use them again and maybe get a better rate and a timely response.

The man that came out to inspect the space was very personable, very prompt and very helpful as far as we needed to do the sizing of things. Their prices were very competitive and the installation was done in a timely fashion. They cleaned up after themselves and were very courteous. We had a good experience.

I called for an estimate, and was called back a few days later with a "ballparkl" estimate of the cost of the repair, but they referred me to another fencing company for the repair, since the estimator thought someone else could probably do it cheaper. The other company's bid was high, so I called Burge back and again requested an offical bid, but did not receive anything in writing, I called again to check on the status and was given a bid over the phone only and asked if I wanted to proceed. (yes). They did come out within 3 or 4 days and repaired the top bar of the fence, but left one section detached. I called again to ask to have that taken care of, and someone came out a few days later. The price was reasonable, and the work was eventually complete and good, but the responsiveness and communciation lacked professionalism. I would have to think twice about calling them again, due to the effort it required on my part to get the job completed.

Phil, from Burge Fence, did an excellent job staining my existing privacy fence. He is a nice person, easy to work with and very prompt. He was helpful in showing me different stain colors and sampling 2 colors directly on my fence. The fence color turned out beautiful. His price was slightly less than other another company I was considering and he even replaced several boards that were spit or rotting at no additional cost. I will definitely use Phil from Burge fence again.

Overall the project went well and I am glad I used Burge Fence.

Overall it was a good experience and the product seems to be good. The price was competitive.

Contacted Chris Burge Friday March 12th to get an estimate for a fence. The fence would attatch to my neighbors on both sides. I explained that I would rather have it sooner rather than later. We agreed to meet at 4:30 pm. I recieved a phone call at 4:35 saying he was in midtown and could we reschedule. I agreed as it was a Friday afternoon. I was concerned that he did not call earlier to let me know as he had my cell phone. He did not contact me the following week. Today, March 31, my neighbor who also needed some fence work called and let him know that I was surprised he did not attempt to call me. He called my cell phone after the conversation with my neighbor and we agreed to meet between 2 and 4 pm. I told him that I had to leave at 4:15 to teach a class. At 4:30 he left me a message on my cell phone to say he was somewhere else in the city and he would get by tomorrow. There is an old saying, once shame on you, twice shame on me. We all have the same 24 hours in a day and I have wasted 3 of them waiting on him.....

Burge arrived and immediately gave us a story about how he was connected to our house and practically grew up here. The story, as far as we know, is true. He knew the name of the previous owner and multiple family members. It was an awkward ice breaker, but also a personal connection to our project. When we finally get to discussing the fence, he talks about the demo of our chain link and how he'll just cut the posts off and leave them in the ground. Seems cheap to me. And he made some offhand, colorful remark about landscaping crews and their workers, which was vastly inappropriate and shocking! We move on to talk about what we want in the new fence--to match our neighbor's--Burge is hesitant about the detail work, the quality, and time put into that fence, I got the impression he didn't want to do it or can't do it for ours. If it wasn't in his book of fences he wasn't interested. For the estimate, he asked to go inside to talk it over, and we really didn't want to let him in, but it was cold and not a big deal so we go in and sit down. He writes us an estimate on the back of his business card after doing some calculations he never explained. The price seemed reasonable, but because it was not itemized and explained, I have no idea. Lastly, and this relates to the beginning, as we sat down for the estimate, Burge was talking again about growing up here and the family, on and on. As we ushered him to the door he starts walking through our house! Without permission! He acts like it's his childhood and is calling for people. Maybe he was trying to be funny, or conversational, or personable. It was completely out of line and unprofessional. We will never hire Burge because his demenor and his attitude.

The fence looks great. It was exactly what they promised. I didn't have any issues with them coming up with a fair price. They did a very good job. After calling several other fence companies, Burge was the one who was willing to come and do the work right away.
