I checked them on Angie's List and they had an A rating. It went really well. It took them one day to put every thing in, but they had to come another morning to finish up a few things. My overall experience is an A. I thought their was fair. I called another place to check their price and they were higher. I don't think I paid more that I should have. The quality of work is definitely an A, and I will use them again in the future.

I thought that they were great. They did an excellent job. They did what they said that they were going to do. They did it on time and they did it on budget. The finished product worked great. They were friendly. They could deal with the fact that we had three dogs and we also had three kids running around all day at that point. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Beware. Neal Harris Heating, Air Conditioning, and Plumbing has been sold to Service Experts. What used to be an excellent locally-run company is now junk. I've given them a years chance, but no more. When you used to call Neal Harris you'd speak quickly with a live person located in Kansas City who gave great service. Now you call a number that seems to be answered in Texas where you get automated answering limbo. I spent 10 minutes on the phone trying to get to someone who could answer a billing problem. Service Experts sent me a reminder notice to pay my bill for service they performed on October 3. Problem was....they didn't do any work in October. Last contact I had with them was in June. They are being dishonest by billing for services they didn't perform. I noticed a real change in the last year. Service techs were not same quality as the Neal Harris team. Administrative support and service over the phone is now awful. I'll find another HVAC provider via Angie's List. I would not recommend this company

I was very dissatisfied with Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Company. They were not forthcoming about their pricing. They had hidden charges. They didn’t want to take my discount coupons either. I spoke with their customer service representative to give me an estimate first. She told me that their service man would give me the estimate. However, the service man ended up charging me an extra $55. They weren’t even able to complete the service. I had to order a part over the phone with someone. The people over the phone charged me over $40 to overnight the part to me. It turned out that the part was available locally. Then, the service man wanted to charge me $125 to install the part. The whole process was ridiculous. I was very perturbed with the whole experience. I had to have someone else come and finish the work. However I felt that they were very responsive because they were able to send someone out immediately after I called them.

They were on time, professional, cleaned up very neatly afterwards and represented Costco well. I would highly recommend them.

Our air conditioner stopped working on a hot, humid day at the end of August. We called the company that originally installed our heating and cooling system. We found out that they were no longer in business but our paperwork referred to another company that was honoring their warantees. We called them and found that their name had changed, but was the same company. The serviceman arrived promptly and diagnosed our problem quickly, but then he installed a replacement part that should have cost around $50 at the most. The price charged for this ordinary electrical part, a capacitor, was $185. The serviceman recommended an additional service, cleaning the coil, stating it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for two years. I declined since that would have added $58 to the charges and I knew that my husband had recently cleaned the coil. The internet coupon for $25 off did not offset the overpricing of the part. We needed the air conditioner for health reasons, and the price was affordable, but we are not calling them again.
Description of Work: Our air conditioner stopped working so we called Service Experts on Saturday afternoon. The technician arrived, diagnosed the problem and replaced a capacitor to fix it.

The crew was very curteous and placed drop clothes to keep the house clean. They also wore coverings on their shoes when in the house. Our new furnace was damaged in shipping so they upgraded the unit at no additional cost. The duct work was cross hatched to stiffen the duct work. They also used sound insulation. I was very happy with the intallation. The first time that I used the AC I had a problem which turned out to be a few leaks in the Freon lines. They responded in a reasonable time and repaired the installation at no additional cost. I am very happy with the conduct of the crew and company.

Very nice and knowledgeable service people. Came out very quickly when called. However, they seemed more interested in selling the yearly service program than fixing our immediate problem We did go with the service program for a year and found it to be nice, but not really very necessary and not really worth the money. Also, after doing some price shopping we have found a less expensive hvac servicer and have gone with them. They (Harrington Brothers) immediately repaired the problem, which was actually still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. Will probably not go back to Neal Harris in the future unless something unforeseeable happens.

We originally called Neal Harris out to bid on what we felt was a negative pressure situation happening in our basement. Our home is 55 years old, unfinished basement and the door leading to the basement from upstairs would continually shut by itself when the fan on the AC/Furnace would come on. Additionally, the furnace would pull from the upstairs and downstairs chimney flu when on. We also struggled to get forced air into the farthest reaches of the house. The sales rep identified the problem that our furnace was so big, that the return vents throughout the house could not support the demand in return air and suggested the fresh air intake. As for forcing more air into the back of the house, he suggested dampers to reduce the air emitting from the vents closest to the furnace. Day of work came and they were on-time, polite and did the work as described. It wasn't until they left that I turned on the furnace to find the door still wanted to close on its own, even with the brand new hole in the front of my house letting in fresh air. I did see a better improvement in the air towards the back of the house, though ultimately, not what I expected. We called our sales rep again to complain about the negative pressure. He came out again and agreed that the issue was not resolved and determined we needed a larger "boot" on our system which allows more air to enter the fan. He apologized that he didn't catch that initially and said they would cover the costs for install. Within a week, we had the boot put on. Again, we still continued to have negative pressure and the air to the back of the house still wasn't up to a level of acceptance. A service tech came out to look and couldn't find anything wrong, but did indicate we should open our dampers (the ones they installed and closed to force more air back), to which I disputed since it was they who informed us we needed them! We called the sales rep again and he never bothered calling us back. We eventually called the office to complain and they sent out another tech to investigate. This tech actually looked at the system piece by piece and discovered when they installed the boot, they forgot to remove the top of the metal which was a requirement to be able to draw more air in. Without the top piece being removed, it was as if it wasn't even added. He removed it, turned on the system and we did notice a better movement of air coming out of the vents in the back of the house. The negative pressure situation was not resolved though in this vist by the tech - we continued to have back-draft issues. I eventually took matters in my own hands and did some research on the internet to determine that most likely, the culprit is my return air ducts not being airtight. I got my ladder and flashlight and started inspecting each one to find that 99% of them had 1 inch or more gaps in where they met another duct, which meant whent he system was turned on, we were pulling air directly from the unfinished basement instead of 100% at the return air vents on the ground floor. I invested in spray foam, air duct tape and started sealing up my ducts myself, to the best of my ability. Afterwards, I checked the door and it did move towards shutting, but didn't have enough pressure to pull it shut which told me I was on the right path, but apparently missed something down there. In the meantime, we started noticing a lot of dust in the house which told me that since I was pulling air into my intake vents upstairs, that most likely, they had a lot of years of dirt/dust,etc. in them and that was being sent out through the furnace (note, we had to replace our air filters at least every 30 days due to all the dust). We again felt like we'd just have Neal Harris out to clean our ducts since they should, by now, know our names by heart and wouldn't dare try to do a half-job on us w/ the duct cleaning. I scheduled a quote and the same sales person came out, abeit more friendly since he knew he never called us back the last time we called. He immediately spun off into why our backdraft wasn't fixed...that it isn't right and he's going to have someone come out to check it again...etc., etc. I told him of what I did (foam, tape) and asked if his company uses one of those fog guns that blows the mist/fog in the air that allows them to see where it is being sucked in at (thus showing them the gaps). He said yes and I told him it would have been nice had someone used that on our system 5 months ago when we originally called them out. Regardless, he quoted the duct cleaning (we accepted) and obviously someone to come out w/ the fog machine to resolve our back draft once and for all. He scheduled our appointment for today, but couldn't get a hold of the office to confirm the time but said he would and would call us back. Last night at dinner, we realized no one had ever called us and we called to find out the duct cleaning crew would be here today at 12:00. The backdraft tech wouldnt be here until the following day (tomorrow). It has been 2 hours since the duct cleaning crew was supposed to arrive and still no one. We called the office (think they outsource overseas I swear) and spoke w/ someone who said they would attempt to reach out to the tech to find out their status. We still haven't heard anything. I blocked a chunck of this time out of my calendar for them to do the work and most likely, make a lot of noise. I work from home and so, I don't have the luxury of rescheduling around their hours. This will be the last job we ever have done by Neal Harris' team.
Description of Work: Added a suggested fresh air intake; added larger return air boot to system; added a couple of dampers in the ducts
