Although this company designed, installed and maintained our systems for 15 years, we are electing to go with another provider. Although we have a service contract, our AC tuneup was never scheduled. In recent years, since they went to an out-of-state call center, it has been my experience that when they do call to schedule an appointment it actually takes weeks or months to get a time. Then, even though you've made an appointment, you get repeated calls asking you to schedule an appointment! We believe that had our tuneup been done on-time we might not have experienced this failure and the resultant $358 service call. Extra calls and parts are quite expensive when compared with other providers. They also told us that our AC coil was leaking and had to be replaced -- a $2,200 repair. Another provider quoted $1,500 for that repair. The outcome of this bid was discussions of installing a new system. They neglected to tell us of a potential rebate from our local electric utility which another vendor brought to our attention, and we found we qualified for. In my dealings with the Neal Harris technician, I felt like I was getting the high-pressure sales treatment, as though he were a used car salesman

Description of Work: Nothing-I made an emergency phone call to this company that states they have 24 hour repair service-I will copy/paste from their web site-We never close. Emergency repair service is available 24/7/365. I called on Friday evening around 8pm-my air conditioning was not working. I was told a technician would call me on Saturday. It is now Tuesday, July 16th, 2013 and if I would have waited on them, possibly myself or my animals could have become ill from the heat

It did not work out well. They came and the guy was nice and helpful while he was here and he suggested we do a few hundred dollars worth of work, which we agreed too. I have not been able to get them to call us back to schedule it. We did not lose any money on that particular deal; I did not have to pay extra for anything. I did try calling them three times. I thought it was somewhat strange. If they are not going to call me back then I do not want to do business with them. They were fine and competitive. They were not super duper. There was no follow through. He was punctual and nice. I think the problem is with the schedulers, not him. I would not use them again.

The vendor representative arrived on time and portrayed himself and the vendor professionally. He listened tour questions, offered suggestions and provided quotations for 4 systems for our consideration before leaving the premises.

The first person to come out said these kinds of faucets are problematic, it couldn't really be fixed, tightened up a nut, and charged $89 to do that. It still leaked so called Service Experts again. They sent a different person out who was much more professional in his attitude. He replaced the faucet, discounting 1/2 of the first visit--said I had to pay the travel fee. On second thought now, I should not have had to pay anything. I have to say that even though he installed a new faucet, it still leaked!! I was having some landscaping help, and the landscaper and I figured out how to tighten the nut, so believe we have fixed it ourselves. Not sure I'll stay with this company for future plumbing.

A big storm was coming but they stayed here until they got it fixed. I was rather impressed by that. They were still here 10:30 getting it fixed.
Description of Work: I used the services of Neal Harris Service Experts. I had a new furnace and air conditioner installed on an emergency basis. They installed a temporary furnace and bringing the furnace down into the basement, they managed to break my incoming water pipe.

On January 30 a Neal Harris Service Experts tech came to my home and installed a Nest thermostat that I had received as a gift. The tech was late for the installation, and did nothing to determine what kind of system operates in my home. Turns out it is has a two-stage compressor, and a two-stage gas backup. So, the twenty minutes he spent installing the thermostat didn't get it right. Recently (April 6) I realized that the compressor was not coming on, and that we had been operating entirely on the gas backup. So, I contacted Nest. Nest has a fantastic customer service team. They paid close attention to my concerns and stayed with it until we finally got the problem resolved. On the other hand NHSE was awful. They sent out a second technician (who said he was the head of the service department) who told me that the thermostat had been installed properly. He then told me that the compressor was 'locked out', had low Freon and that the system likely had a Freon leak. He said it would cost me $374 to just have NHSE find the Freon Leak. He indicated that there was no sign of a leak at the compressor, so the leak might well be in the A-Coil which would likely cost me about $1700 to replace. The great team at Nest sent out a second company, High Performance Homes LLC to take another look at the problem. Turns out, the thermostat was improperly installed. HPH took 90 minutes to install it right. And with no further repair my system is performing beautifully. No lock out. No Freon problem. Believe me when I say, I will have nothing further to do with Neal Harris Service Experts.
Description of Work: Returned to my home to check previous work on installing a Nest thermostat and diagnosis the reason that my heat pump was no longer working.

Richard Waters was very knowledgeable of heating and air conditioning systems and very helpful in facilitating the installation. The units were properly installed and work was completed on time. We are very pleased with our new HAVC system. They also added additional duct work for a future expansion and relocated our water heater for proposed basement remodeling.
Description of Work: We had Neal Harris install a high efficiency central air conditioner and furnace in March 2011. We also had our air ducts cleaned at the same time. The low energy and natural gas usage has significantly lowered our utility bills.

It was summer and hot, so I really appreciated the quick response from Neal Harris. I called to report an issue with my air conditioning and a technician was onsite the same day. The problem was diagnosed within 30 minutes and was an issue with a valve. The valve needed to be ordered, so the repairs were delayed a few days while the part came in, but a follow up visit was prompt. After replacing the valve and getting the system turned on again, the technician discovered the coil was damaged as well and needed to be replaced. The part was in stock and replaced the following day. Overall, this was a good experience.
Description of Work: I had an issue with my air conditioning that required a new coil and some other smaller repairs.

We had Neal Harris install a new Heat Pump/Furnace/Air Conditioner about 4 years ago. This year, we have had 2 THV valves go bad and this turns out to be a VERY expensive repair. When the technician came out to install the new valve the second time, after spending 5+ hours working on this, the new valve was also faulty and he suggested we have the unit converted to a standard A/C. Wayne, the manager worked with us and made sure we were satisfied that they stand behind their work and their product. We were very pleased with their dedication to finding a good solution for us and keeping us satisfied and loyal customers.
Description of Work: We had our Air Ease Heat Pump turned into a normal air conditioner.

I waited for the service technician on three separate days. He showed up on the last appointment and only after I called to complain. Once the technician came to our house the service was very professional.

When Neal Harris switched to Service Experts in name (and possibly ownership, I don't know) they now use an out of town call center. The scheduling time for tune ups is always way in the future. When you ask to speak to someone local for scheduling you get put on hold. Then by 'magic' the call center says there is a 'cancellation' and they can schedule you sooner. I really don't like dealing with a call center when a company is local. I want to deal with the local people for a local company. You can tell it's a call center because they can't pronounce Olathe. Always a dead give away. In all fairness, there is no problem scheduling when something goes wrong with your furnace or AC. They can always fit you in. It's the annual service contract scheduling I have a problem with.
Description of Work: We have a service contract with this company, and have had for the last ten years. They have done a lot of work for us, including replacing AC, furnace, and water heater, as well as annual tuneups.

AC had leaked coolant, and was over 25 years old. Repair guy did a few things and got it running again, but did not fill up the coolant without asking. It was old-fashioned freon, and he said it might need up to ten pounds, several hundred dollars worth. He said if you fill it without finding the leak, naturally it will leak out again. He suggested that it was too old, and wasn't worth fixing. He was pretty aggressive about wanting us to sign a maintenance agreement, which we did. Then he decided we shouldn't fix it, and he gave us an estimate for new AC and furnace. We called another company and they gave us an estimate a little bit cheaper. Then a friend recommended a guy who came and installed AC and furnace for half the original estimate. They've been running for several months now and we haven't had a problem. Since we had a brand new system we called and asked to cancel the maintenance agreement. They did, and refunded us the money.
Description of Work: AC would not start. Repairman replaced some electronics and tested everything. Got AC running again, but not at full cooling capacity.

I'm a very satisfied customer. I found and booked this contractor through Costco, who has a Lennox referral program. I highly recommend all Costco members use this service or at least get a quote via Costco.com or the kiosk at your local Costco warehouse. Pricing is A+ for Costco members, due to the $100 per $1000 purchase rebate that Coscto provides. I took bids from 5 companies, and Service Experts provided the best overall package/solution to my AC issues. I didn't choose the lowest bidder, but did select based on the best value per the equipment/warranty package. Great service and great 10 year parts, 10 year service and 3 year 100% satisfaction warranty program on premium Lennox equipment. The sales consultant Forrest listened to my concerns and helped me to evaluate my alternatives and addressed concerns about replacing vs reuse of existing equipment. The job was completed on the date that I scheduled it. Service techs were on time, neat with their work, polite and courteous. All of my questions and concerns about the install were answered. The final install looks neat and professional. The install crew walked me through the operation of the system before departing. The comfort adviser stopped by to check on the install and and to ensure that I was satisfied after the install crew had left.
Description of Work: Service Experts installed a new Lennox 2-stage AC condenser, iComfort thermostat, line and evaporator coil. Also did the winter maintenance to my furnace.

Have complained about this company before, so thought it only fair to comment on service that was above and beyond normal. It was the superior communication skills of the technician along with the courteous manner that gave me such confidience in the service I was receiving, so felt free to purchase the parts that were suggested, which were both water and dust filters and a uv light to help prevent mold growth in the humidity system. The tech was on time, having called beforehand to let me know he was on the way.Covered his shoes with booties as entered house, and took plenty of time to perform services. I was pleased to know that he teaches his technical skills at a junior college, Hope he teaches his communication ability, too

The serviceman came out on emergency call quickly! His name was Jarron and he rocked.Give him a raise!.. No make that 2... :-)He was great to explain what the issue was and got right down to the work, even cleaning the outside ac fins with water and checking the charge of freon.. In an hour he troubleshot the situation and had the AC back in time to cool the house down before bedtime!
Description of Work: Had issues from a previous condenser fan motor installed by another local company that shall remain nameless. The wiring was jacked and the fan would get hot and shut down... I needed to get the problem resolved to get our air conditioner back in good sorts as it was 107 today. The bedroom was at 100.

They came out this time only for a bid. Were able to make an appointment right away, thoroughly explained their bid, etc. I chose another company because they have even better ratings on Angie's list and their price was lower.
Description of Work: Service Experts has maintained my heating and air conditioning for years and has done an excellent job. This year my entire system died and I needed a new one. From past experience, I knew that Service Experts tends to be higher priced, so I got two other bids along with theirs. I did choose to go with another company, but would use Service Experts again in the future. Everything they have done for me has been good. Courteous professional service men, etc. In this particular instance, it came down to price.

Received estimate about 2 days after site visit.
Description of Work: Received estimate for 110k BTU Furnace and Zoning System under Costco Program. Service Experts was the highest price of the three bids that I received. Zoning System cost was competitive cost wise; furnace was highest as compared to other companies.
