I do foster care for cats and also do the cat laundry. Towels, rags, cat beds. Even though I shake out as much hair and such as I can, I get the dryer vent done each year. He was courteous and seemed to know what he was doing. My vent is about 30 ft long in my basement The cost is an estimate but I also bought the contract.

When a company has the exact service in their title, it generally means they're good at what they do. DVW is absolutely no exception. Our floor plan lent itself to a very difficult choice as to how lint would escape the house. Our original configuration (from when we purchased the house) was exhausting into the garage. While great for melting the ice and snow in the winter, the year round lint covering really clashed with our vehicle colors (as well as making it unbearable in the summer). Utilizing the better part of six hours to complete the job, he carefully examined all options, never rushed or complained about how awful and complicated our floor plan was, and the end result (even having to cut into the vinyl siding for an exhaust port) is brilliant. Months later, we are still extremely pleased with the work done. If anything ever goes awry related to the dryer vent, we won't think twice about picking up the phone for additional services.

The work cost a bit more that I had expected to spend, but, all-in-all, I was very satisfied. This is something that should be done every couple years, and we waited far too long. We won't hesitate to use this service provider again. Excellent experience.

Originally, I chose Mr. Bert because on his Angies' list information he was very precise and gave lots of specific information. I called for an appointment and was able to have it scheduled for the next day. Mr. Bert was very professional from the beginning. He even parked his vehicle towards the end of the driveway so anyone could drive out the driveway to leave. I have rarely seen service providers do that. After examining the dryer, he explained the plan, answered my questions, and wrote out the estimate. . He started the work with the vent cover replacement first, then the vent cleaning and the hose replacement. It took about 1 1/2 hours. Afterwards he explained what I could do to prevent a build up of lint.The airflow from the vent after it was cleaned was 27.9 mph. I found Mr. Bert very knowledgeable and he instructed me what to do in the future and suggested a cleaning in 4 years. Everything went well and I now feel assured there is not much fire risk. Great job!

We were very pleased with them and their work. I liked his attention to detail and I can't really think of anything that he could have done better because it was kind of a tricky situation and he did great. It was awesome and good.

We had been making due with an indoor lint catcher instead of a proper dryer vent for way too long. In researching who to call to have a dryer vent installed (handyman? HVAC people? remodeler?) or whether or not I wanted to do it myself, I came across information on the lack of safety with the vent tubing we were using (even though it looks metal, it's paper and highly flammable). So, with a little googling, I came across the dryer vent wizard website. Not only does Harold specialize in cleaning/installing dryer vents but he uses the safer metal tubing. I called on a Tuesday afternoon (seems like you reach a national call center when you schedule your appt so they verified that there was someone in my area even though I knew there was) and was able to make an appt for that Wednesday morning (8:30 to 9:30 arrival). Harold arrived sometime around 9am and had called ahead to let me know he was on his way. He inspected the walls and determined that we could install a rigid vent right behind the dryer and said he was available to install it right away. He gave me a time estimate in case I was needing to do something that day. My house is old and has stucco on the outside as well as brick in parts, so we weren't sure if there was brick hiding under the stucco wall behind the dryer. He gave me 2 quotes for installation depending on if there was brick ($89 more I believe) so I knew what to expect worse case scenario. He gave me options on the type of vent (one was more critter-proof than the other) and didn't push the higher priced one (although I did go with the higher priced one). He also recommended I replace my washer hoses as they were rubber and well over their expected lifespan of 5 years and could eventually burst. He told me that we could do it ourselves and didn't push having him install it, but recommended that we do it either way. I opted to have him do it as I knew I wouldn't get around to it. He was unable to replace one of the hoses as there was way too much lime/rust around the hose and it was fused to the faucet, and recommended that we have a plumber take a look at it sometime. He left the replacement hose with us and discounted the total. He also gave recommendations on running the dryer and cleaning the lint collector and recommended a professional cleaning about every 3 years based on our vent situation. It is such a relief to have a dryer vent and especially one that I know is safer than most. Harold was very pleasant to deal with, I felt the cost was reasonable, and he was very clean - he put shoe covers on every time he came into the house and cleaned the area thoroughly after he finished working.

Harold called before he came over. He arrived within the time window that we had agreed to several days before the appointment. He was very courteous, and put on shoe covers before walking through the house. He took off the covers every time he went outside, and put them back on every time he entered the house, which added up to 7 or 8 times. He performed an initial inspection of the work to be completed, which took about 15 minutes. He walked me through the recommended work, and I took him up on all the recommendations. He informed me of ways to improve the air flow from the dryer to the outside of the house. Previously the connection from the dryer to the wall (inside the laundry room) had a bend in it, and used a tube that was not up to code (but which he said is relatively common). My options were to leave this situation as-is (in which case I would have needed to sign a statement saying I was informed of this and decided to not have it changed), or to fix the situation by installing a straight transition from the dryer to the wall connection. I chose to have the situation fixed - a service itself that cost $89. Doing this required that the dryer be re-positioned to a minor degree in the room, plus some labor to upgrade the connection points and tube. He also installed a new vent cover outside, replacing the trap-door-plus-hood with a louvered vent. Before the cleaning, the airflow was measured at 5 mph (as tested with the dryer running). After the upgrades, the airflow was measured at 20 mph.

I needed a handyman or someone to fix my clothes dryer vent, got on Angies list, became a member, looked and inquired with Dryer Vent Wizard, called the contact number on the ad, left a detailed message and waited to get call, received that call and was told have noone to service my area at this time. The description of service area on Angies list says "Entire Kansas City Area" but now they have noone that services this area... Independence, MO. is definitely a part of the greater kansas city area. Further I was told upon my initial call to them, they confirmed that my zip code was included in their service area. If they are going to pick and choose who and what problems they work on, then change the ad accordingly. I AM NOT HAPPY!!!

I'm pleased with his work and the information he provided. The dryer works much better now!

Harold Bert was here for 7 hours. We discussed the options and the costs. First he climbed into the attic and looked at the situation. Then he put another ladder on the outside of the house to the 2nd floor. Removed about 4' of flex bent pipe by reaching through the hole from the outside. Had to re-cut the old as it was not exactly 4". Had to be 4" to handle the 4" rigid vent pipe. The went back into the attic and place about 3' for rigid vent pipe and two 90's to get down through and out the eave. Used metal tape to tape all the rigid joints. Went down to the back of the dryer and replaced that flex vent pipe with a solid vent pipe. Went back outside and then cleaned out the entire run of dryer rigid pipe. Then replace the outside vent with a down under eave vent. Then went back inside and cleaned all the vent traps in the Dryer. Spent about 6 hours here.
