Description of Work: We needed two pipes to cover our basement and separate sub-basement. Wes was able to tie it into one fan system to save us some money on equipment. We were pleased with his knowledge and professionalism. He also followed up with us about a cover that needed to be put over the system once our construction was finished. We had forgotten about it and appreciated that he followed up.

Description of Work: Installed mitigation in two houses. The house we were selling failed the test, and they installed an exterior exhaust system. The brand new house we bought also failed, so they installed an interior exhaust that vented through the roof. Much more pleasing to NOT have a big pipe running up the side of the house. The interior was only $100 more than the exterior. Excellent job on both houses.

The radon abatement system was installed by Midwest two years ago, and we had a problem with a sewer backup that caused a malfunction of the fan in the abatement system. We did not know whether to leave the system on or turn it off, so we called on a Saturday and left a message. I had not yet heard from them by Tuesday, so I called them again. By then the system had quit working. They came out on that Thursday and charged me only the trip fee, because the fan was still under warranty. Although they showed up as scheduled, they did not knock or ring the doorbell, to let me know they were here, and then entered my fenced backyard and began work. This surprised me. I felt they could have let me know they were here before beginning work.

IN PURCHASING MY FIRST HOME, THE HOUSE WAS TESTED FOR RADON AND CAME BACK OVER 10. I WAS SKEPTICAL FOR THE REAL NEED FOR A REDUCTION SYSTEM BUT THE EPA LITERATURE CONVINCED ME THAT THE RISK OF LUNG CANCER WAS TOO HIGH. MIDWEST INSTALLED THE SYSTEM AND PIPED IT OUT THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE. I HAVE AN 1895 HOUSE AND WAS WORRIED THAT THE DRILLING WOULD HARM THE HOUSE OR BE TOO VISIBLE BUT YOU CAN'T SEE IT FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE AT ALL. THE RETEST PUT THE RADON LEVEL AT 4.1 (4.0 IS EPA ACCEPTABLE) AND THOUGH THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I ALSO HAVE THE CRAWLSPACE IN THE BASEMENT PIPED OUT, I DECLINED. I WILL HAVE THEM RETEST IN A YEAR OR SO AND SEE WHERE IT IS.

THEY WERE PROMPT, COURTEOUS, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. I THINK THEY COULD HAVE CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES A LITTLE BETTER, BUT THIS WAS NOT A BIG PROBLEM.
Description of Work: THE COMPANY INITIALLY DID A TEST IN TWO PLACES OVER THE CONCRETE SLAB, THE AVERAGE READING WAS TOO HIGH IN THE BASEMENT. WE THEN CONTRACTED FOR THEM TO INSTALL A FAN AND DUCT SYSTEM TO EXHAUST THE UNDER SLAB AIR TO ABOVE THE ROOF. THE SYSTEM COULD NOT GO IN AS ORIGINALLY ESTIMATED, BUT THEY MANAGED TO GET THE JOB DONE VIA A DIFFERENT ROUTE. RETESTING SHOWED THE RADON NOW BELOW THE EPA LIMIT.

WES HODGDEN WAS THE REPRESENTATIVE. HE WAS VERY FRIENDLY, COURTEOUS AND WILLING TO ANSWER ALL OUR QUESTIONS. THE FINAL REPORT WAS EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND HELPED MAKE OUR HOME PURCHASE PROCESS MUCH EASIER.
Description of Work: THEY PERFORMED A RADON CHECK ON OUR HOME AS PART OF THE PRE-SALE INSPECTION. THEY LEFT SENSORS IN THE BASEMENT FOR SEVERAL DAYS, PICKED THEM UP AND DELIVERED A DETAILED PCI/L LEVEL REPORT.
