Description of Work: The digital thermostat needed to be replaced. The owner came out one day and returned with his son and the part the next day. That gave me a chance to get everything cleared out of the unit so they could work more easily. In this particular case, the freezer compartment was working OK but the fridge was warm. They looked at a couple of other possible problems before settling on the initial diagnosis. They came quickly; the best appointment I could get from my "former" repair service was 6 days. Ridiculous! They seem an honest, caring operation and I will be using them in the future. They told me they also specialize in Whirlpool appliances and I have a Duet washer and dryer so will keep them check marked if if have any laundry difficulties.

Although the repairman wasn't sure of the problem, he adjusted the settings and it works now whereas the last guy charged twice as much and it didn't work right.

My dishwasher stopped working, using process of elimination, the serviceman found it was the fuse on the electronic panel. He also rebalanced the dishwasher for me, making closing the unit much easier. We talked about all my other appliances; he gave me tips for my front loading washing machine.

Great job - arrived on time, quick repair, very pleasant! Also looked at my refrigerator, which is having trouble with the water dispenser. It's a brand they don't service, but David gave me some recommendations, and told me if it didn't work out to call him back, and he would try to get me some help.

I called Hull-Lamar on Monday. We agreed to have the repair done Wednesday. At that time, I was told that my washer problem sounded as if it could be repaired within the 1/2 hour minimum and I would be charged for a repair call. Dave Lamar called early Wednesday and arrived about 10 minutes later. Dave was friendly and courteous and especially, he was efficient. There was no delay or wasted time. The problem was quickly diagnosed and the problem part replaced. Dave was willing to talk with me while he worked, answering my questions about washing machines in general and my machine in particular.
Description of Work: Washing machine cold water fill function was not working properly. Valve mechanism was replaced.

Repairman was on-time for prescheduled appointment. Quickly identified all repairs needed, provided cost estimate and returned in 1 hour with all needed parts. Repairs were complete in about 15 minutes.

Hull could not schedule an exact time due to the volume of the recalls but would call before they came. I explained that this would not work well as I might not be able to meet them. I asked for an exact time, which they could not give. Hull suggested that we have a neighbor meet them within a 2 hour time frame. I asked them to commit to a 2 hour time frame on a specific day which they could not do. I said "okay, I'll try another firm", they told me no one would commit to specific time frame. Furthermore, Hull would not call me when they could get to me if I was going to call another company. Quote from Hull, "We might show up at the same time."

WE DID OUR BEST TO SCHEDULE HIM UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES...CALL AHEAD, MEET THE NEIGHBOR, ETC. PLEASE UNDERSTAND WE ARE A 2 MAN FAMILY BUSINESS. IMAGINE YOU START YOUR DAY OUT IN A VAN, DRIVE ACROSS THE CITY FROM HOME TO HOME, EACH CALL & DRIVE TIME IS DIFFERENT, EVERY SINGLE DAY! A 2 HOUR WINDOW WE BELIEVE TO BE ABOVE THE NORM! THE WEEK OF THE MEMBERS CALL, WE HAD 30 RECALLS COME IN, THIS IS ON TOP OF OUR REGULAR CLIENTS & OTHER WARRANTY WORK. WE HAVE SPOKEN WITH 2 OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS WHO ARE 15 TO 30 DAYS BEHIND ON THESE RECALLS. WE HAVE TAKEN CARE OF OVER 130 OF THESE IN A 2 MONTH PERIOD & COMPLETED THEM WITHIN A WEEK OF THE ORIGINAL PHONE CALL. UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES WE TRY TO GIVE A SPECIFIC DAY, BUT DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE LOAD, WE ARE LINING UP THE CALLS IN AREAS, AND DRIVING AS EFFICIENTLY AS WE CAN FROM HOME TO HOME. IT HAS BEEN 7 YEARS SINCE THE LAST MAJOR RECALL, AND IT TOO WAS VERY HECTIC, IT IS NOT NORMAL WORKLOAD BY ANY MEANS. WE HAVE COMPLETED THESE RECALLS TO THE VERY BEST OF OUR ABILITY IN A TIMELY MANNER, WE ARE VERY SORRY THAT THE MEMBER IS SO UPSET, BUT WE ARE ONLY HUMAN.

I can't describe just how pleased I am. He came when he said, and was courteous and professional but also very helpful. He worked quickly and neatly. He had to work in a small area and was careful not to scrape the wall, etc. He showed me the broken part and explained what it was; he had the replacement in his truck. The price was very reasonable and he did extra work (the dryer vent) that wasn't in the original repair order. After he worked on the dryer vent, my next load of towels took about 45 minutes to dry instead of two hours! (The hourly rate shown in Angie's List is 3 years old, from April, 2004. It's $77/hour (I think!), not $64. But as I said, he wasted no time and the $88 labor in the $108 total was very fair.
Description of Work: Replaced a $20 part (the coupler) when my 8-year-old clothes washer stopped spinning. Then he shortened the indoor dryer hose and removed a LOT of lint from the main vent to the outside.

As requested, I was called about 20 minutes ahead of their arrival time and met the service provider at the house. He looked at the problem, replaced the part (he already had it with him) and was on his way in under an hour. A bit expensive, but I'm a tightwad :) Great Service!

The repair technician (Dave) was one of the nicest and professional repair people we have ever experienced. He was very prompt and explained the problem in detail. He also gave us some valuable advice about future appliance purchases. If I every need a large appliance repair and it is an appliance brand Hull-Lamar services, I will not hesitate to call them.
Description of Work: One year old Whirpool dryer was making loud noise, when running. We had contacted the company we purchased the dryer from and were sorely disappointed at the response we received. Essentially the original company indicated, even after a repair technician came out and looked at dryer, that there was nothing wrong with the dryer. My guess is, that they did not want to fix the dryer, because it was very close to warranty period. Hull-Lamar was able to diagnose the problem as this dryer (one year old) needed a new motor! Needless to say, we were not thrilled with this news. However, Hull-Lamar repaired the dryer and did so under the original warranty, something NFM was not willing to do.

I wish the info. On the listing had mentioned that there are some brands of washers that this company "doesn't" service. The listing makes it sound like they'll work on all types.

I was very pleased with the work and will have them back when have another large appliance needing repair.
Description of Work: Our washing machine stopped agitating and spinning. The technician quickly identified the problem and fixed it. He even found something else wrong while in the machine and fixed that. The machine works better than ever.
